Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

We’ve only announced to family and friends and I’m not posting on social media. Also don’t hide the bump so if someone that I know but aren’t really close with sees it that’s totally fine.
I’ve got my anomaly scan at almost 22 weeks and I’m not doing the GTT as I had high sugar reading at the first appointment so they actually mark it as gestational diabetes, however my sugar at home has been completely fine.
I’m a bit anxious for the anomaly scan as there was a little obstruction seen in his left kidney but he’s producing urine just fine.
Everything else has been fine so far. Every appointment I get a scan to check on him and last time they confirmed all is good with his brain, face, 4 chambers of the heart, all leg bones present, no cleft lip, all abdominal organs there and functioning, fluids are fine.

Superscientist · 15/05/2025 20:00

I'm down for a gtt too not sure when. I'm on medication that increases my risk of all forms of diabetes.

I don't think I've announced my daughters pregnancy on sm.... She's 5 in August!
I told family around 16 weeks but told friends before that, I needed people to talk to but those less invested in case something went wrong. I've always had to tell work straight away and in my other pregnancies I have had hyperemesis, although escaped it this time, so I've had to let people know due to sick leave and needing support. I found people generally rather supportive in pregnancy and through my miscarriages too. So many people have spoken about there own experiences.

Yeah that’s true - I tell all my friends and immediate family immediately! And I’m super open about my losses, I “announced” my last baby’s birth and loss on social media actually and it was surprising how many people came out to share their stories too which I did not expect at all!

squishousdelicious · 15/05/2025 21:32

I rarely share anything on social media, so won't do anything until baby is born, and will then post a photo - no faces!

@fingerscrossedmumma the GTT isnt fun, I'm afraid. Nothing allowed but water for 12 hours beforehand (and medications as long as they wont impact things - for example, i'm allowed my omeprazole but not Gavsicon or Rennies), followed by a somewhat nauseating drink and a further 2 hour wait for a repeat blood draw before you can eat again. The drink might not be so bad for others, but last time I was still feeling ill and nothing seems to have changed with that this time round, so not looking forward to it. Best advice I got last time was to take something to eat with you so that you can feast as soon as it's over!

Livybaby · 17/05/2025 08:52

I’ve only told close family and friends. I have told my manager at work. I was 17 weeks this week. Hoping to get to my anomaly scan and maybe tell people after that. I think it’s because this pregnancy was unplanned (I’m 40 and was looking at starting HRT!) and it’s taken me a while to get my head around the idea and I’m not ready to listen to other people. I was a bit caught up on my age but everyone I’ve seen hasn’t commented on it, only one family member keeps making reference to it annoyingly. I’m still not convinced at times there’s still not a touch of denial!

Superscientist · 17/05/2025 19:31

It's only since my 20 week scan that I've been more broadly mentioning it prior to this it was only with supportive people that I brought it up.
I was 17 weeks when I told my mum in both pregnancies! She's a fusser and I hate to be fussed! You just have to do what's right for you!

JMassey · 19/05/2025 08:40

I had my 20 week scan last week and found out we're having our 2nd Boy 😍Starting to really feel the movements now, won't be long before you can feel them on the outside! Anyone else?

Also I had to take the early GTT a few of weeks ago, drink was just like flat cheap lemonade? It was fine, I took a big Fake Stanley style cup full of water which actually really helped keep my hunger at bay and kept me hydrated and I passed, it didn't affect me at all x

I wasn't allowed to drink water -only a small 1/4 of a cup as they said it would effect the reading ? I have another one at 26 weeks which is when previously i failed it so not looking foward to that one !
Yes lots of movements now they started off where I would only feel them at night lying down but can feel the odd one when sat down or walking around

emmatcc1 · 20/05/2025 00:10

I’m 18 weeks and feeling him move a lot especially yesterday he was going at it non stop. Can also feel and see on the outside which is amazing since it’s my first and I have an anterior placenta but it’s like proper kicks now not just bubbles, I think that stage went unnoticed to me. Anyone have the problem when your partner puts his hand on the belly the baby stops moving? Happens all the time and then when he walks away baby is having a party in there.

Oh? The NHS website says you can and so did the woman who did my test? So I'd take some tap water with you for the next one, can always double check at the time. It helped me alot.

Givemethesun · 20/05/2025 16:05

How’s everyones second trimester going? I’m sure with my first pregnancy second trimester I felt pretty much normal. Really struggling in this pregnancy there’s absolutely no second trimester glow here 🤣🤣🤣🤣

pumpkinpatches22 · 20/05/2025 16:35

@Givemethesun hope you’re ok! Are you
struggling with sickness? So far second trimester is ok! Still get tired, got some heartburn and lower back ache but feeling ok. Got a bit of a bump now and have started to feel movements. Sometimes it’s really obvious and others I’m like…was that the baby? I think it depends where they are. There’s not really a pattern yet. 20 week scan next week and still really nervous! Got our baby buying appointment booked in a few days after so hoping it’s all ok and then we can start buying stuff! Xx

Thank you! Yea still got sickness but also generally low energy. Oh well. That’s so exciting you have a baby buying appointment x

pumpkinpatches22 · 21/05/2025 13:48

@Givemethesun sorry to hear you’re still feeling rough. Have you had iron levels checked for the low energy? Xx

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on, can anyone have a guess at my 12 week scan? I’m clueless at the nub theory and still waiting on my 20 week scan ☺️

Confirmed baby girl!

lolarun · 22/05/2025 05:52

@Givemethesun i am similar, symptom free first pregnancy and this time round i am 20 weeks and still throwing up... its really horrible

CustardCream31 · 22/05/2025 06:45

Sorry to hear you ladies haven’t had this second trimester ease/glow, either!! The exhaustion is something else for me 😵‍💫 just constantly beyond tired. Nausea still here but not quite as bad as first trimester. Back aches creeping in night and day too… the joys! Our babies will be worth it though. Just the hot summer to struggle through and give us that true pregnancy glow (profuse sweating!!!) ☀️

HopefulSibling · 28/05/2025 09:02

Hi all,

I've recently had my 20 week scan - it showed that I have a fibroid, measuring about 2 x 3cm in size. The sonographer didn't say much, other than to 'be aware of it'.

Obviously I cam home and googled it!

Just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this, and whether IVF hormone meds (I took progynova, lubion and estrogen up to 12 weeks pregnant) can create/make fibroids grow?

I find it strange that despite having numerous internal scans and tests that it didn't show up before?

I'm having an elective c-section (for different reasons) so also wondering whether a) it might be reason to have the section slightly earlier, maybe around 38 weeks, and b) whether the fibroid can be removed during the section?

emmatcc1 · 28/05/2025 11:02

So jealous of all the 20 week scans. I’ve still got 2 weeks until mine. I did however get the report pack from my hospital visit at 16 weeks and they measured the abdominal circumference which measured 6 days ahead, big baby? I feel like my torso is too short since baby is already above my belly button and I’m only 19 weeks.
How are you ladies with kicks? I was finally able to store away the doppler since he is now having a full on party in there everyday. Such an odd feeling having something moving in your belly.

RavensMom24 · 28/05/2025 13:03

Hey @HopefulSibling I also have a fibroid, about double the size of yours! I had it with my first pregnancy too. With mine I had additional growth scans and they just checked the baby grew around it (the fibroid was kind of in the canal so they were a bit concerned she wouldn’t be able to pass it!) and she did and I gave birth vaginally with no problems. It’s the same this time and they’ve barely mentioned it, although I am still awaiting my 20 weeks scan! It made sense why I had such painful and heavy periods all my life when I found out about it! Do you know where yours is? Mine is half in the lining annoyingly!

And @emmatcc1 I'm exactly the same as you! 20 week scan not until 9th June and it feels like forever!! I have also stopped using the Doppler as I can feel his little pitter patters everyday now🥰 mine only started about 4/5 days ago though, before that it was just the popping gas bubbles! When did yours start stronger??

Hope everyone else is doing well ❤️ just the same again ladies and well have out babies in our arms !! X

emmatcc1 · 28/05/2025 13:20

@RavensMom24 I started feeling something at the end of week 16 but wasn’t sure what it was. They became more strong kicks just before 17 weeks and have stayed and roughly the same intensity with occasional really strong kicks, last night I had my hand on my belly and could feel him flipping around, he did a complete 180 it was so weird. Was fully expecting kicks after week 20 due to this being my first and also having an anterior placenta.

So lovely!!

Yes I was expecting (delusionally ha!) to feel full kicks around 14/15 weeks as it’s my second. I got confirmation my placenta is at the back again at my gender scan and the sonographer kept reiterating that I will feel good movement again because of it.

It sounds bad but I think I maybe would have felt them a touch earlier if I wasn’t so distracted looking after my 14 month old lol! X

pumpkinpatches22 · 28/05/2025 21:11

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow. I’m nervous and hoping everything is ok. Feeling a little more reassured as I’ve been feeling movements since week 17 that have gradually increased in frequency and the last week especially it’s definitely progressed to stronger kicks and rolls and much more obvious and frequent movements but I’ll definitely feel better once I’ve seen them again and hopefully had positive feedback at the scan. I was also surprised that I’ve been feeling such strong movements as I was told my placenta was anterior but I’m guessing it may have shifted out of the way.

squishousdelicious · 28/05/2025 21:16

I have two weeks until my 20 week scan too! My placenta is anterior like last time, so i don't know any different, but I've been getting regular prods and pokes from inside for a few weeks now so feeling a bit more relaxed (until I haven't felt anything for a day or two!).

Had my cervical length scan yesterday and was told everything looked good, so that's reassuring too. But almost at 19 weeks pregnant and evidently look huge because we went out to lunch today and I was taken pity on and allowed to choose the most comfortable seat in the restaurant 😆

My little boy now knows where to point if i ask him where the baby is 😍

pumpkinpatches22 · 29/05/2025 17:50

Hi all.
Back from my 20 week scan! Bit of a whirlwind. Baby was being stubborn so I think sonographer couldn’t get the images she needed. She said everything looked fine but there’s certain images she needs to record and couldn’t quite get them so have to
go back in 2 weeks to get those last bits. Everything else looked good and she said she wasn’t worried, however the baby’s femur length has come back just over the 3rd percentile. Their head is all measuring on track for dates, as is their abdominal circumference but legs are about a week behind. I asked a few time if I need to be worried with the midwife and consultant but they wouldn’t really give me a straight answer - just said I’ll have another scan with a consultant next week to reassess. The baby’s weight is the 14th percentile so small but still within normal range. I was told there was a risk for smaller babies anyway due to my low Papp-A/placenta issues plus my husband is only 5ft 9 and I’m 5ft 7 - we’re not giants so it might just be that our baby is naturally small. I know there’s a million reasons - could just be a small baby, could be the legs haven’t caught up yet, could be due to the placenta, could just be an inaccurate measurement. I’ve got 3. Separate scans now booked in for femur length, a follow up anomaly scan and also a placenta scan so it Jsut makes me feel like
I have all these complications even though I know it’s just the hospital giving me the best care. Anyone else had a shorter femurs at 20 week scan and care to give me some reassurance? Xx
