Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

How lovely! Congratulations on a girl! May I ask what made you think she was a boy? I’m 13weeks and desperate to find out the gender!

I don’t know it was a gut feeling! I had the classic symptoms of a girl with bad morning sickness, sweet cravings and skin breaking out but my gut was just saying boy!

Aw so glad you found out I bet you’re excited :) I’m probably going to try and wait for my 20 week scan but I’m itching to find out so we’ll see haha. Was it a scan or blood test?

MrsRobo23 · 13/04/2025 21:25

Hello, has anyone else been told they have low PAPP-A? Been prescribed 150 Aspirin and will have some extra scans, we already are under consultancy due to this being an IVF pregnacy.

Don't think it's anything to worry about too much but interested to hear other people's experience, especially if you've had low PAPPA A in a previous pregnancy.

So so excited! I didn’t want to find out with other people in the room as I didn’t want any pressure to feel I had to react in a certain way do me and my partner had the scan sent to someone who made us a cake and we did it on our own at home, it was perfect!
we did it privately, they were fab as baby was so stubborn!

Yes I have low papp a and have been told to take asprin - I have decided not to take it for personal reasons. My previous successful pregnancy I had low papp a and didn't also. It makes me bleed and that it something I really can't cope with. The midwives say it's coincidental but it's something that I have choosen not to take for this reason. Lots of women will take the asprin and will be fine but for me personally I just can't cope with the side effect.

I'm 15 weeks 5 days now so will have extra growth scans around 24 weeks Previous successful pregancy the same but I also had gestational diabetes so then they then thought the baby was going to be big 8lb for what i was used to (other 3 pregnancies were 6lb 3oz, 6lb 6oz, and 7lb 9oz) so they were worried about the baby getting stuck and all scary scenarios so was induced. He was 6lb 7oz so the worry was for nothing. It all got very clinical and I didn't fully enjoy being preganant as there was always a worry.

Feliciacat · 14/04/2025 07:39

@BeSunnyPinkBiscuitoff topic but is it your fifth child? Congratulations! That must be fun. I’m one of five myself.

I also think it’s fine to not take aspirin if you don’t want to; bodily autonomy is very important. Especially in pregnancy where there’s a lot we can’t control. I have no idea what my PAPP-A levels are and I don’t know if they’ll test them since I’m not having the NHS combined screening.

Hi ladies,
hope it’s okay to join in! I’ve also requested to join the whatsapp group 🫶
currently 15+2, due on the 2nd October 😬
my second pregnancy, my first was born in January so I got lucky not being too pregnant over summer - dreading this year though! Very happy to be on maternity leave over Christmas again however 😁

I'm due the 2nd October too with my second! 😁

I have low Papp-A. I had it in my last pregnancy and it was all a bit odd, they didn’t give me aspirin but I had extra growth scans. For the most part, anyone I spoke to (professionals) hadn’t heard of it and looked at me like I was bonkers for mentioning it 😂 I went for the scans and they’d tell me they didn’t know why I was having extra scans so I’d tell them about the Papp-A and they’d just look blank. This was 6 years ago.
My son was 7lb 10oz at birth so it had no effect on him.
I’m on 150mg aspirin this time due to both the Papp-A and I’m high risk for high blood pressure and preeclampsia as my BP went through the roof at the end of my last pregnancy (didn’t turn into preeclampsia and I was already a few days over due so trying not to worry- I’m also healthier this time 🤞)

Yes 5th child and 8th time being pregnant. I'm sure the midwives secretly think I'm crazy! Just love having children

I need a bit of help. My first ultrasound at 8 weeks gave my EDD of 18.10. My 12 week ultrasound gave me EDD of 14.10. So baby was measuring 4 days ahead. They didn’t change my EDD but now I’m not sure if I go by first measurements and say I’m 13w2d or I’m 13w6d.

I would go by your 12 werk scan as it's more accurate

pumpkinpatches22 · 14/04/2025 17:13

@emmatcc1 we were told to go off 12 week scan as that’s what all the doctors will do from here on out. At least that’s how it is in the UK - I think you’ve mentioned youre not UK based. Unless I’ve completely invented that fact 😂 but maybe it’s different where you are!
Our baby’s due date has kept us on our toes. Based on LMP it was 21.10, then at 7 week scan it went to 19.10, then at 9 week scan it went to 17.10 and then at 12 week scan it jumped ahead again to 16.10. So we’re now a full 5 days ahead of where we started! We’re just sticking with 16.10 for now as that’s what the midwives will be basing everything off.

@EEB1989 if you’re UK based we were told that if there’s anything concerning with the combined blood test and measurements at the 12 week growth scan then they’ll call within a week as they have to review both together for it to make sense. If it’s all okay you’ll get a letter within 2-3 weeks.

Cant wait to hear what you all are having! We’re planning on waiting until they’re born to find out the gender. One last surprise!

@pumpkinpatches22 thanks for the note on timings i was wondering that myself whether the nhs would call in advance to a letter if any risks were identified of if id just get a letter saying about the risks. I’ve had my 12 week scan and blood test so I am just waiting now

EEB1989 · 14/04/2025 18:45

@pumpkinpatches22 Thank you for the timings, I am UK based. @Givemethesun are you waiting for the results before announcing to family etc?

I’ll be 13+5 at my scan, if it takes them two weeks to send me a letter. It will be really noticeable… it’s getting harder to hide it. Can you ring them for results? Ive lost trust in my midwife after she forgot to refer me for my first scan.

Sorry that you’re having your scan late! That must be stressful. I’ve told my family but would like results back before I tell friends etc. I’m massive too already really noticeable. To be honest I think people will have guessed re me already which takes a bit of the fun out of it I guess! Hope your wait goes quick

Hi @EEB1989 my scan is on 22nd I’ll be 13 + 3 and already too it’s noticeable for me😂 I have told my family though just not friends and living in huge jumpers and leggings!!

I had my last baby March 2024 and they sent my results through the post 7 days after I had the bloods taken. It was the simple generic letter with a simplified version of the results (I was low risk for everything). However, I actually saw my results literally 2/3 days after via the NHS app (I’m UK based). It was a bit more complicated but could see everything. Not sure if you’ve got it but they never told me to check there, I just did and there it was! It’s clearly in a bit of doctor jargon but definitely readable with a quick google lol. Just a thought in case you have it too😊 xx

CustardCream31 · 15/04/2025 07:45

Morning ladies, hope everyone is doing ok.
Had my 12 week scan yesterday. Baby is doing brilliantly, so active on the scan 🥰 measuring a week ahead of what we thought on previous early scans. such a relief. And to our shock…. Turns out it’s vanishing twin syndrome that is likely to have caused my big bleeds. Second sac very much present (empty), so meant I couldn’t have the nipt bloods as it skews it too much. Ultrasound tech was lovely annd thorough, and said she saw nothing that suggests any anomalies at this stage, and low nuchal fold measurement.
Can deffo feel flutters already, and matched the timing and what I was feeling whilst being scanned too!

Had cracking headache yesterday and woken up with it again today 😣

@emmatcc1how is your bleeding/spotting now?

lolarun · 15/04/2025 09:54

Hi, I am due 16th October. Ive been feeling really sick but have only started actually vomiting in the last week, last night pretty much every few hours. I keep reading nausea is supposed to be getting better, not worse! Does anyone have any similar experiences, I am not sure if I should be worried its getting worse?

emmatcc1 · 15/04/2025 10:02

@CustardCream31 What a shock! Heard my stories like yours actually. I wish I was feeling flutters already. I’m 14weeks today and baby is having a party in there anytime I try to use the doppler. I also have an anterior placenta so will probably feel kicks later.
My spotting is slowly tapering off its now the consistency of my normal discharge and pale brown color. The amount of it is also very minimal.
I have exactly 4 more week until my next scan where we find out the gender.

CustardCream31 · 15/04/2025 10:09

@emmatcc1 yes a big shock! Tbh not sure could have coped with twins 🤪 just so happy baby is doing ok in there and hope it continues well…
aww that’s nice you can hear the baby party on the Doppler though!! This is my second, so apparently makes it more likely to feel flutters earlier (although wasn’t expecting this early).
glad your spotting has eased though, that’s a relief. 4 weeks sounds so long doesn’t it, but I bet it will fly by in the end.

@lolarunhello! My sickness/nausea has ramped up again at 12 weeks… apparently normal to come and go, even into the second trimester. Speak to your midwife if you’re concerned though 🙂

EEB1989 · 15/04/2025 11:25

Morning Ladies,
We had our 12week scan today, measuring 14+1 so a few days ahead of what I thought (13+5). I’m too far to have the test for downs, Edward’s etc and baby was being awkward for the neck measurement but they said nothing to be worried about - we should celebrate but they just couldn’t get the measurement today and they’ll do a blood test at my 16week apt for downs.

Im not sure if we will announce before we have the all clear - we are slightly older (35/36). Has anyone been in this situation?

I was so shocked at how fully developed baby was! It’s our first so I had no idea what to expect lol.
