Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

Started gushing blood earlier today. Got checked baby’s all good no reason seen as to what’s causing the bleeding. There was a ton of blood that was pouring out at intervals and seems to have eased off now. They sent me home to call my midwife tomorrow. So confused what’s happening.

That must be so frightening, hope you’re okay ❤️

CustardCream31 · 09/04/2025 19:52

@emmatcc1how scary 😫 so sorry to hear. Similar to me a few weeks ago (twice). First time they couldn’t see why, and second time they saw the subchorionic hematoma… I’m still spotting brown from it too 🫠 stressful. Hope yours was a one off! Take it easy.

emmatcc1 · 09/04/2025 20:01

@FenellaFurchester yeah it was a very scary experience.
@CustardCream31 what kind of blood did you bleed and how much? Mine is bright red and very thin consistency, very different than period blood. The gushes have stopped and they happened maybe less than 10 times and each time it was around 1-2 spoonfuls of blood. Now theres just a few drops when I use the toilet.
I’m hoping my midwife will want to do another scan herself since I already have to go to her to get the shot since my blood type is negative.

Hello Ladies, I'm actually on the November 2025 group but have been checking on this group as a "What to expect next" and it's been super helpful.

@emmatcc1would you mind sharing where you found this information please? I'm 42 and would be useful to know how that automatically affects my screening results - due to my age the screening is my biggest point of anxiety.

Thank you and sorry to just barge in.

Your results will come back high just purely for you age if you request further testing. The nuchal fold was 1.5 I'm 42 and my papp a was 0.24 my result was 1 in 65
My previous results when 38 was nuchal fold 2.3 and my papp a 0.41 my result was 1 in 45
I then had further bloods taken and the results were low in both cases
I didn't want the extra testing with this preganancy as I just knew that I would have to go through all of the emotions again but felt encouraged to do so by the midwives I didn't experince the same raw emotions this time as i was expecting the high results and had already previously talked through the what ifs...however when the phone rang it was still nerve racking. Just be prepared that your results will come back high purely due to your age. You will be offered genetic counselling and they will discuss all options with you

emmatcc1 · 09/04/2025 22:28

@JennyTig I just googled down syndrome chances by age and go to pictures.

pumpkinpatches22 · 10/04/2025 07:51

@emmatcc1 that must have been so scary! I’m glad the baby is ok, and hopefully things are a little better today. Like @CustardCream31 said it could be a hematoma that’s just hidden at the moment. Just take it easy for now, try to avoid anything strenuous x

emmatcc1 · 10/04/2025 10:09

@pumpkinpatches22 I’m not actively bleeding anymore just some brown spotting now. It’s so odd that nothing was seen on ultrasound given the amount of blood there was.

This is SO helpful, I'll be pushing additional testing with the midwife at my booking appointment next week. As stressful as the screening and any additional tests can feel, I would rather get the ball rolling as soon as possible. Seeing as I'll be in the high bracket just due to my age I'm going to press for the additional testing to be done. Can be a heavily battle with the system at times but I'll give it my best shot on moving things forward quickly.

Thanks also to all the other ladies who replied, I'll duck back out and leave you all in peace!

You shouldn't have to push for them the tests will just be offered to you if anything they will encourage you to have the tests. It will start at your 12 week scan immediately afterwards you will have your bloods taken the results should be within the week and then further bloods depending on your results it will all happen reasonably quick

CustardCream31 · 11/04/2025 10:05

@emmatcc1morning, how are you today?
Mine was bright red thin watery gushy blood! No clots… first time it happened it went through knickers and trousers and then several gushes in the toilet each time I went at hospital. Second time was worse, was in bed and the gush woke me up and soaked through everything to the mattress, was terrifying. Thought that was the baby gone because of the amount. Then gushes each time I went to the loo during the night. Eased by mid morning. Didn’t feel dizzy or anything, and knew A&E could do sod all on a Friday night. Had a private scan booked that day anyway so thankfully had the reassurance and they saw the SCH that time.
I’m 2 weeks since the last bleed, and spotting only just stopped the last couple of days. Still terrified it will happen again. Have my 12 week scan on Monday, so am interested to see if the SCH has shrunk/gone 🤞🏻
take it easy and deffo lean on midwife for extra reassurance and extra checks.

hope everyone is doing ok today. Nearly the weekend. ☀️

emmatcc1 · 11/04/2025 10:13

@CustardCream31 My bleed was exactly like that. I’m now having lots of brown discharge. Had another scan yesterday still everything looks normal, baby is kicking in there oblivious to what’s happening. I got prescribed tablets to support pregnancy and pelvic rest. They didn’t seem concerned about the bleeding so I’m trying not to worry too much.

CustardCream31 · 11/04/2025 10:31

@emmatcc1scary isn’t it. And crazy that amount of blood can be “ok”!!? Glad your scan showed all ok. Did they see any SCH? And guess you’re on progesterone? Am also on that.
a few of my friends had the same bleeds and all was ok, so it’s just one of those things for some women though.
im sleeping with a towel under the sheet every night at the moment… and pads every day because I’m so scared of another bleed. But it’s making me sore (and I hate pads anyway!!) so may get some period pants!!!
These babies know how to keep us on our toes already don’t they!

FenellaFurchester · 11/04/2025 10:39

@emmatcc1 @CustardCream31

My midwife told me brown is a good sign of a haematoma resolving as it’s old blood. I had brown every few days for weeks after the initial red bleed - first at 5 weeks, then last at 10/11 (touch wood) no sign of it on my scan. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

emmatcc1 · 11/04/2025 10:43

@CustardCream31 No SCH found. I’m wondering if I had one that was missed at the 12 week scan due to me not having any symptoms so they focused on the baby and now it ruptured so it can’t be seem on ultrasound anymore. Or maybe since my placenta is on the lower side that it irritated my cervix or maybe popped a vessel nearby.
Yes I’m on progesterone probably until next appointment at 18 weeks.
I asked in my facebook group and everyone who had similar turned out to be fine. My SIL bled in all 3 of her pregnancies.
It is scary indeed I wish I could just skip a couple of weeks.

Feliciacat · 11/04/2025 10:44

I’m sorry to hear that quite a few people are having issues with haematomas. That sounds really worrying. Definitely take advantage of as much pregnancy related sickness as you need; if only for the mental health effects of such an experience.

I had my IONA++ test yesterday. It was a blood test and scan and I’ll find out everything by Easter weekend. I can’t wait to know if they’re a boy or girl. I won’t mind either way; I just want to know more about them. I’m 11 weeks and the baby was moving on screen! That was amazing.

pumpkinpatches22 · 11/04/2025 12:26

@emmatcc1 and @CustardCream31 I’m glad things seem to be easing for your both. It does sound like bleed was a hematoma and maybe the bleed was it bleeding out. Hopefully the progesterone will help ease it. I’ve been on progesterone since 1DPO and then had to stay on it due to my hematoma. I only had that period of brown spotting and the EPU said it was resolving at my scan and I asked them to check again at the 12 week scan and it had completely gone. So I guess that brown spotting was the dregs of the hematoma being absorbed. I think the progesterone and pelvic rest helped it to resolve without a huge bleed so hopefully it will do the same for you now. I didn’t do any heavy lifting, no strenuous exercises (just walking) and no orgasms/sex. There’s no definitive proof it helps but it made me feel better. I’m now reducing down my progesterone and should stop completely by the end of next week which making me nervous. But I don’t have a hematoma to stabilise anymore and the general consensus is the placenta is doing all the hard work hormonally by week 14 so hopefully it should be safe.

emmatcc1 · 11/04/2025 14:21

@pumpkinpatches22 That’s good to hear.
I’m very grateful for my partner as he now does all the chores so I can be on my feet as little as possible. These next 5 weeks until the scan will probably feel like an eternity.
I was most scared that my placenta started detaching but thank god it wasn’t that.

EEB1989 · 11/04/2025 16:33

Evening Everyonr
Just catching up, reading about your scans and results.

I have my 12 week scan next week - I’ll actually be 13+5 at the scan but better late than never.

We don’t want to announce to family until we have the all clear. On average how long does it take to get your results of the Downs, Edward’s and Pataus test?

It’s becoming harder each week to hide my protruding belly. I’m avoiding seeing people as I know they will spot it!

emmatcc1 · 11/04/2025 16:37

@EEB1989 I got the results from the scan same day and adjusted results 2 days later from the double marker test. If you do NIPT it’s usually a week.

Oh lovely. Thank you so much. I think the NIPT is only offered if you have high markers, is that right?

This is our first so I’m totally new to everything. I have a friend that knows but she’s had her babies a few years ago and even though she’s with the same Dr and hospital, its all changed.

I want to tell work and family asap. I currently have to breathe in if I leave my desk lol.

emmatcc1 · 11/04/2025 16:49

@EEB1989 NIPT is offered for free if risks are high otherwise you can do it private if you wish. I personally didn’t because mine all came back as <1:20 000 after the double marker test and before that the results were still very good.

DogsInSocks20 · 12/04/2025 18:39

Hi ladies,
hope it’s okay to join in! I’ve also requested to join the whatsapp group 🫶
currently 15+2, due on the 2nd October 😬
my second pregnancy, my first was born in January so I got lucky not being too pregnant over summer - dreading this year though! Very happy to be on maternity leave over Christmas again however 😁

Hayels94 · 13/04/2025 15:35

So had a gender scan yesterday and found out that I am having a little girl! I am so over the moon! I was convinced it was going to be a little boy!

Annie1306 · 13/04/2025 18:14

Joining in here. I am 11+. I am 40 and this is my first IVF pregnancy after years of infertility. We used DE. I am due on 29th October. My first scan at 6+ weeks at my ivf clinic showed a good heartbeat and now our next scan is on 22nd April. I had very less symptoms. I will say next to none and that keeps me worried all the times. Had a bit of spotting day before yesterday on wipe. It was right after I felt very bloated and had back pain ( just where the ribs are on the back ). Called my midwife and they said nothing they can do and if repeat then go to A&E.

Congratulations and all the best to everyone on this journey! :)

How lovely! Congratulations on a girl! May I ask what made you think she was a boy? I’m 13weeks and desperate to find out the gender!
