Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

Lovely to hear of positive scans! Can't wait for mine now. I finally had my booking appt last week so hoping to get a scan date this week for next week or one after! (As midwife said she'd put down LMP which puts me at 11 not 10 after my 6 week scan)
Still really struggling with nausea and headaches. Its awful in the night which is rubbish as I'm so exhausted

Givemethesun · 07/04/2025 19:30

@emmatcc1 @pumpkinpatches22 really pleased your scans went well :))) I’m excited for minethurs! When will you tell work do you think?

BeSunnyPinkBiscuit · 07/04/2025 22:59

Hello I thought I would finally join this thread as I'm feeling that this pregnancy is happening now I'm almost 15 weeks ( due september 30th but always very late giving birth so most lkkely an october baby) I have started taking iron and asprin and I don't know whether that is causing me to feel sick for at least an hour usuaĺy 4 times a day or whether I have just developed a sick feeling due to pregnancy? I didn't have any sickness in the last 12 weeks. I know I should check with my midwife but I know that she will probably bypass it as they pushed for me to take the asprin this time ( I have hemorrhaged before so I was frightened to do so previously) I have taken iron tablets in all my pregnancies and have been OK so maybe it is the asprin? I think I have answered my own question in writing this down but just thought I would put this out there to you all ❤

Feliciacat · 08/04/2025 10:13

Hi @BeSunnyPinkBiscuit. I take 75mg aspirin due to a family history of pre-eclampsia. I also (even when not pregnant) have bad acid reflux and I also have asthma which means I’m not meant to take NSAIDs like aspirin. So aspirin has made my breathing a little worse and it does make me feel sick but the midwives say the benefits outweigh the risks. I (and I’m sure you feel the same) am prepared to feel bad for the sake of this baby.

So I think it will be the aspirin making you feel sick but it’s unlikely the midwives will let you stop. Do you make sure you take it on a full stomach? Especially if you’re taking iron. Iron is tough on the stomach. Maybe have wholemeal toast with eggs and then take your tablets. That helps me.

FenellaFurchester · 08/04/2025 11:23

So nice to read about so many happy scans ❤️

My NIPT came back this morning - low risk across the board.
I’m so relieved and exhausted, thank you for thinking of me ❤️

Feliciacat · 08/04/2025 11:45

Amazing news @FenellaFurchester! I’m made up for you. I hadn’t wanted to ask so as not to stir up any difficult feelings if you were still waiting. I was thinking about you and hoping you were ok though.

On a similar topic, I’m having the IONA++ test this Thursday. It costs £620 and tests for Edward’s, Down’s, Patau, sex chromosome abnormalities and abnormalities of all the chromosome pairs. Plus it will tell me the gender. I’ve been through so much worry with infertility and ivf that I just want the reassurance of this test. I should have the results by Easter weekend as well as my 12 week scan on the 16th. I’m hoping for a very happy Easter!

Great news @FenellaFurchester !!! Lovely to hear scans have been going well - mine is weeks away when I'm almost 13 weeks and my god is time dragging... not helped by still feeling generally rotten in spite of the xonvea. I'm not on the maximum dose yet, but the GP didn't want to put it on repeat prescription for some reason, so when I inevitably have to phone back to ask for more, I'll mention that I think I'll need to up the dose if I'm going to manage to return to work!

@BeSunnyPinkBiscuit hi 👋 couldn't tell you exactly what is causing the sick feeling, but a couple of suggestions if you're not doing so already: firstly, I've heard aspirin is best taken at night, just before bed. For me, i take most of my things (vitamins, folic acid etc) at this point because I'll be asleep and so am more likely to avoid the sick feeling. Secondly, could you try a gentler, liquid iron supplement? I've also heard iron is tough on the tummy and some liquid supplements are much kinder and absorb better.

I need to take 150mg of asprin at night as apparently that's when it's easier absorbed by the body. I am eating a lot at the moment so my tummy is always full! Although today I haven't felt sick at all I haven't changed anything it's just typical as soon as it's mentioned it stops at least for today anyway

Yes I have been taking them at night. The iron ones are a tablet I'm hoping my levels have increased they were 88 so that perhaps I can take the iron every other day. I'm seeing the midwife in 2 weeks so will have bloods done then

I'm so pleased for you. I have been previously in a similar position my results came back 1 in 45 and then further testing put me in the low results. I can relate to how you must have been feeling. Afterwards the midwife did say that usually unless you are in the really low numbers 1 in 5 say then there is more of a possibility. The higher ones are very unlikely over 25 say but of course they can't get your hopes up too high incase unfortunately it does come back that there is a syndrome. I'm so pleased for you 🥰

emmatcc1 · 08/04/2025 21:38

Did anyone elses nausea come back? Mine was gone for like a week or a bit more and back on Sunday, I even threw up yesterday and it’s been all day nausea but mild.

Thomthom · 09/04/2025 10:54

Hi ladies, thought I’d join this thread as in due 6th October. I feel like the excitement has been taken away from me though as my risk of DS has come back 1/36. I’m currently waiting for NIPT results to come back but struggling with the wait. I’ve had to take time off work as I just can’t focus on anything and find myself scrolling through forums all day long hoping for some positive stories.

emmatcc1 · 09/04/2025 11:10

@Thomthom what markers made it that high risk? Was nuchal translucency high or no present nasal bone?

Thomthom · 09/04/2025 11:12

@emmatcc1 NT measurement was 3mm and I’m 36. My PappA was normal but midwife said my hcg was on the higher side but not alarmingly so. I’m guessing it’s mainly off NT and my age?

no one mentioned anything about the nasal bone. Is this something they would have mentioned if absent?

It’s a horrendous week of waiting and worrying isn’t it? I wasn’t worried about downs as that wouldn’t change anything for me, but Edwards and Patau seem to be heartbreaking conditions.

I really think they should move away from giving the information as a probability 1 in 31 felt so high. If they’d presented it as “ there’s a 3.2% chance, which is very slim but warrants further investigation” I think I’d have coped far better.

Glad it worked out for you too ❤️

I’m due 7th 😊

The wait for the NIPT results is horrendous, my antenatal unit didn’t mind one bit if I called them in between. And my DH - I gave consent for them to talk to him about it on the phone so he rang too. In fact, I couldn’t handle the phone call so he got the results first.

Your chance is very slim- about 2.8%.
NT can be on the higher side for no reason and it evens out later on. I was told that outside of these screening tests HCG levels are meaningless.
It’s all just numbers in a computer at this stage.

How long u til your results are back?

emmatcc1 · 09/04/2025 11:54

@Thomthom normal nuchal is up to 3mm so you’re right on the line. Your age probably added to the high risk but as the PP said that’s still only around a 3% chance of ds. If nasal bone was absent they would most likely tell you. They showed me the nasal bone on my ultrasound, it was probably one of the first things they did.
I googled and at the age of 36 your chances are automatically calculated 1:300 which I think is so stupid.
Hopefully the NIPT comes back as low risk.

Hello Ladies, I'm actually on the November 2025 group but have been checking on this group as a "What to expect next" and it's been super helpful.

@emmatcc1would you mind sharing where you found this information please? I'm 42 and would be useful to know how that automatically affects my screening results - due to my age the screening is my biggest point of anxiety.

Thank you and sorry to just barge in.

As I’m on the other side of the horror of the screening and high risk results. I would recommend going for a private NIPT if you can or discussing your anxiety with your midwife and seeing if you can go straight to NIPT due to age increasing the likelihood of coming back high risk and the stress that’s causing you.
Have you had a previous pregnancy? My hormone profile was very similar to last time but my age has increased my risk factor enough to flag high risk this time.

Thank you for this, I hadn't really thought to discuss this anxiety with my midwife (first appointment next week at 9.5 weeks) it's easy to forget to advocate for yourself so this advice is appreciated.

I have been thinking of going for private NIPT depending on the screening results as money is a really tight at the moment, if the results came back high I would find the funds to do it though.. money well spent in my opinion.

Yes, this is my 2nd pregnancy and have a 5 year old. I'm assuming they can access my old results for comparison, because I have no idea where to look for them!

FenellaFurchester · 09/04/2025 13:34

@JennyTig If screening came back high, they would probably offer you NIPT anyway (I think most, if not all, areas are doing them now) but if I could go back I would avoid the screening altogether and go straight for NIPT instead.
Im sure they can access your info if you ask but they won’t automatically look for it, I happen to loosely remember my figures and remember discussing it with my midwife. I had low Papp A, but hardly anyone had heard of it then (6 years ago) even professionals looked at me like I was bonkers, when I mentioned it - they seem to take it quite seriously now.

JennyTig · 09/04/2025 15:25

@FenellaFurchester thank you so much for your advice, very useful and all taken on board.

And just to say that I saw the post you shared, I'm really glad you're through the screening with a positive outcome after the initial concerns xx

Started gushing blood earlier today. Got checked baby’s all good no reason seen as to what’s causing the bleeding. There was a ton of blood that was pouring out at intervals and seems to have eased off now. They sent me home to call my midwife tomorrow. So confused what’s happening.

With my daughter my nausea and sickness came and went throughout the whole pregnancy. It was fairly persistent in the first and third trimesters and only occasionally in the second trimester.
This time round it hasn't been too bad but still have the odd morning of nausea
