Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

Hi, been lurking for a while and didn’t want to post and jinx myself! Got pregnant on the back of a miscarriage in December so was worrying. But had an early scan today at the EPU and all is good and turns out I ovulated quite close to the start of my miscarriage! I’ve been given Progesterone which I have never been offered previously with prior miscarriages. Apparently NICE guidelines have changed and they recommend it after a loss? So it’s worth a shot. Due 10th October ✨

I'm in a similar position. Miscarried mid December but am now nearly 9 weeks!
I only found out a week and a half ago!
I had an early scan at the weekend that put me at 8+3. I have a prescription for progesterone too I just need to go back to the hospital to pick it up as the pharmacy isn't open to outpatients at the weekend.

Sunshine924 · 26/02/2025 08:03

I'm feeling quite anxious today about the lack of real symptoms and have got an awful cold feeling quite warm but shivery. I'm worried about it causing miscarriage but hoping that's only a risk if my temperature gets really high I don't think it's too bad at the moment. I am up and looking after my little boy so it's not like proper flu

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 26/02/2025 11:39

Hope everyone is okay!
I am 6+2 today. I have booked in private scan at 8 weeks and it still feels very far away!
I requested to join the WhatsApp group last week but I haven't yet been accepted, I am not sure if I haven't done it correctly ?

Sunshine924 · 26/02/2025 11:53

I've had some bleeding - only a small amount but bright red and am having cramps so assuming not good news :(

emmatcc1 · 26/02/2025 12:01

@Sunshine924 Go get checked!

emmatcc1 · 26/02/2025 12:01

@Sunshine924 Go get checked!

How or where? I've not even seen a GP or been referred yet to any maternity services as I thought too early

emmatcc1 · 26/02/2025 12:24

@Sunshine924 There’s early pregnancy units in uk if I remember correctly? Surely there has to be an emergency gynecologist near you.

Figtree11 · 26/02/2025 12:28

@Sunshine924 I’m sorry about the bleeding. Where I am I have to call the GP and get them to refer me to the early pregnancy unit for a scan. They’ll see you from 6 weeks.

I’ve been having brown spotting since yesterday. I’m 6 weeks. 2 losses before with one starting with brown spotting so I am freaking out. Giving it til tomorrow before ringing to be seen at the EPU

Sunshine924 · 26/02/2025 12:48

Thanks @emmatcc1 and @Figtree11 I've contacted GP as not sure where else to go. I've had no more bleeding since this morning but I guess only time will tell

Superscientist · 26/02/2025 12:48

@Sunshine924 when I had spotting with a previous pregnancy I phoned the local epu. They were closed as it was evening so I phoned the out of hours number. They recommended monitoring the bleeding every hour and if it got heavy go to a and e and phone the epu the following morning. I phoned the epu the following morning and arranged a scan for the day after. In the meantime the bleeding went very heavy so I presented at a and e. They checked my HCG and haemoglobin. When I saw the epu the next day they did a scan and measured my HCG again.

@Figtree11 I'm sorry you are spotting too. I hope you are ok x

Ok thank you. I will see how it goes today I think it's very early I'm only 5 +2. What happened in the end for you?

I'm so sorry you're going through this, it must feel very scary. There is something called a subchronic Haematoma which happens very frequently and is nothing to worry about, and so it could be nothing. Bleeding in the first trimester is very common. There is some good advice on the Tommy's website, here: https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/pregnancy-symptom-checker/bleeding-pregnancy

Hoping for good news for you, take care.

Thank you. In my first pregnancy I had a heavy bleed at 11 weeks I think it was probably that (that baby is now a toddler!)
This time I have cramps though which feels different

Superscientist · 26/02/2025 13:28

@Sunshine924 unfortunately for me the very heavy bleeding (3 night pads in an afternoon) was me miscarrying and the blood tests revealed that my HCG halved between the first blood test in a and E in the evening and the second in the epu the following morning. The scan showed no pregnancy. I should have been 9 weeks so they said that was conclusive. If I had been earlier they would have rescaned the following week as it could have been a pregnancy of unknown location. They monitored my HCG instead weekly until it was back to normal.

Sunshine924 · 26/02/2025 13:48

@Superscientist I am so sorry xxx

fluffyprawn · 26/02/2025 16:58

@Superscientist I'm really sorry to hear this. I hope you can get some rest ❤️

fluffyprawn · 26/02/2025 17:00

@Superscientist oh maybe I misread and that was a previous pregnancy? Even so, I'm sorry you went through that x

Beanie14 · 26/02/2025 19:59

@Sunshine924 did you get seen by the GP hope the spotting was just a one off. The cervix can be really sensitive in the early stages maybe it’s just a bit of irritation or something.
@Figtree11 brown spotting is old so fingers crossed for you that this is all it is and it’s just taken till now to work its way out of your system.

I’ve had brown discharge on and off since 12dpo till 17dpo. Nothing for a couple of days now so fingers crossed it was nothing.
I want to book a viability scan but don’t want to do one too soon cause I don’t want a huge gap waiting for 12 week one x

Sunshine924 · 26/02/2025 21:35

@Beanie14 I did and I ended up going to epu as I've had cramps so Dr was worried. They did a speculum test and said my cervix is still closed but now just got to wait for hgc results tomorrow. The cramps are quite bad so that can't be good but I've not had any more bleeding yet

Beanie14 · 27/02/2025 08:34

@Sunshine924 oh I’m so sorry I got everything crossed for you. How far along are you? Xx

Beanie14 · 27/02/2025 08:39

@AlwaysTryingToHelp no I don’t think you did anything wrong I requested too but also didn’t get accepted. Then I saw a post that said they ran out of space in the chat so can’t accept new members. :(

Figtree11 · 27/02/2025 08:47

@Beanie14 thank you, I hope so. But not holding out much hope as this is how a previous loss started

@Sunshine924 i’m glad you got seen at the EPU. Hope you are doing a bit better today

Sunshine924 · 27/02/2025 09:24

Thanks @Beanie14 @Figtree11 they have booked me in for a scan on Monday they said my hcg is 2000 whatever that means. I'll be 6 weeks then. Ive come down with the flu which is awful timing as I'm worried about high temperature but not much I can do

AmyC04 · 27/02/2025 09:51
