Hey, just found out I'm pregnant with my 2nd. No symptoms apart from sore boobs, didnt help my Son "hulk smashed" me on one this morning, the joys of 4 year olds. I think I'm due around end of October. Hope you're all okay ❤️ xxx

squishousdelicious · 16/02/2025 18:55

Hi all, I've recognise some usernames here from lurking on the TTC boards!

Tentatively joining as well - haven't even missed a period yet, but had a positive tests yesterday at 11dpo. Due date is around 28th October.

It's comforting to know I'm in company - i had an early miscarriage in Jan 2022 before later conceiving my son. Even having a healthy baby can't allay my fears that I'll have another loss. Keeping you all in my prayers that things go smoothly for us all x

Hi congrats!!

I just tested positive last Monday this is my first time I've ever been pregnant and I'm about 5 weeks I can't stop worrying about miscarriage is this normal and is anyone else feeling this way
I am trying to avoid looking into the stats of miscarriage or researching to prevent me worrying further looking for some reassurance please 🙏🏻

IVFlife · 16/02/2025 21:07

@lr2025 totally normal. It's so hard.

There is a miscarriage reassurance website that gives you the % of NOT miscarrying each day. I found that helpful.

OtherwiseI just keep repeating "right now i am pregnant".

Distraction is key. It's v hard though.

Aw thank you ☺️ I have been using that website but just feels like every waking hour it crosses my mind I'm so paranoid 🙈

Do you have someone to talk too? It sounds all consuming.
It's normal to worry about miscarriage but if it's continuous it might be tipping into anxiety.
I'm on pregnancy 4 now, my first pregnancy went without a hitch and I have a 4 year now. I've since had two miscarriages. I have done nothing different and felt no different in the pregnancy I kept and the pregnancy I lost. You can tie yourself up in knots looking for signs one way or another. I do think about loss and have done in every pregnancy but not daily some weeks not at all, other weeks more. I get hyperemesis in pregnancy and I guess that takes up a lot for time and energy I could spend fretting!

I come from a family that has always been open about pregnancy loss. I know my nan had a miscarriage between babies 2 and 3 of 5. For me it has normalised the experience but also given me a lot of hope because she still managed to have 5 kids... The youngest when she was mid 40s!

If these thoughts are something that is more than passing, that are frequent throughout the day and difficult to shake I would possibly say that it's more than usual levels of miscarriage anxiety. It will be a long wait to the 12 scan and then 20 weeks scan and then birth if left unchecked. Apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree x

lr2025 · 16/02/2025 21:35

Thank you yeah I do have anxiety and have a therapist that I see regularly however I haven't seen her since I found out I'm pregnant as she is on annual leave so will defo be bringing it up to her

I also talk to my partner, family & friends when regularly about it

Emilyflo2001 · 16/02/2025 21:50

My hcg was tested 48 hours ago and it was 695. Today they did a blood test and it had come back at 2156.
is this normal for a single pregnancy?
im nervous that its twins. I would be obviously very grateful but I am scared.
im 5 weeks pregnant today. Had an internal scan 2 days ago and they found a sac but no baby inside. They said I was too early to be 100% certain. I personally only saw one sac but don’t know if another could pop up later on.
did anyone else experience this?

pumpkinpatches22 · 16/02/2025 22:14

@lr2025 Sounds like we’re on similar timelines. I found out on Monday and im also 5 weeks and I also suffer badly from anxiety - especially since our journey to this point hasn’t been the easiest. I have found this last week since finding out so hard - to be honest I can’t believe it’s only been a week as I feel like it’s been such a rollercoaster. I have a therapist and have an appointment with him next week where I’ll be bringing all this up and talking it through. I have found a couple of things that have helped me over the last couple of days to alleviate the anxiety a little:

  1. Blocked key words on my TikTok to reduce miscarriage content. I noticed that when I was TTC I constantly got fed content of people pregnant and now I’m pregnant I keep getting fed miscarriage stuff which feels quite sinister. So now I’ve started blocking content that fuels this anxiety.

  2. I stopped searching forums with things like “is this normal” or “worried about this” to do with my pregnancy/symptoms and just started googling however many weeks I am, followed by the word symptoms if I want to check if something is normal. I found that when I started searching with the other phrases above I invariably got more forums with people giving answers describing how they had those symptoms and then had an issue just because naturally these threads tend to encourage sharing when something was abnormal rather than normal. When I keep the phrasing fairly neutral then I find a lot more threads of people describing all sorts of symptoms with much more positivity/neutrality and 99% of them are all successful pregnancies and this has really helped me realise that women feel all sorts of things at different times and they don’t worry about it. And that so so many pregnancies go on to be successful.

  3. My constant searching has made me realise that you really can’t judge whether a miscarriage is coming or not or try and pre-empt one. There really doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason or pattern. And so I’ve sort of tried to tell myself that I really can’t control what happens next but for now I am pregnant and I am so grateful. I try to remind myself that if I did have a miscarriage, I would be so sad that I spent the time I was pregnant in a constant state of worry rather than just letting myself be pregnant in whatever way that presents itself. It’s easier said than done but really just taking it one day at a time and repeating “pregnant until proven otherwise” has helped and I hope this will last and I’ll be pregnant until proven otherwise for a full 9 months.

Of course it’s still early days so I may completely fall off the anxiety wagon again in the next few days… I am literally
praying for more symptoms as I find them reassuring haha but for now I’m truly just trying to take care of my heart and my mind and letting my body take care of the rest. ❤️

lr2025 · 17/02/2025 07:17

Ahh that's lovely thank you for that reassurance that's made me feel better that it's not just me!

It would be great if you we could chat privately and maybe help each other through if you would be up for that of course?

I'm not really sure how this works as I've only just started using it not sure if you can message on here? Or I'm happy to give you my socials if you have them ☺️

Morning everyone. How are you all today?

I've got my scan today. Feeling really anxious as this is where it all went wrong the last time.

Hello 👋
Im cautiously joining you all. 4wks 6 days.
Hope you are well.

Mattietoes · 17/02/2025 13:55

I have altered my dates on my app based on when I know I ovulated, which has put me at 4 weeks 1 day which I think is more realistic. I'm having slight symptoms - slightly sore boobs and very slight nausea - though I don't feel particularly tired. Still so anxious!!

Figtree11 · 17/02/2025 15:08

Good luck today @IVFlife

Anyone else not feel very pregnant? From LMP I’m 5+1, but I think it’s more 4+5 from tracking ovulation. I’ve had sore boobs since before the BFP, and feel slightly bloated but that’s all.
My previous 2 pregnancies that ended in MC I can’t remember when symptoms ramped up

IVFlife · 17/02/2025 16:07

Perfect little baby on scan with wonderful strong heart beat!

I'm a couple of days behind you at 3w6d, I've been feeling nausea at random points and I'm exhausted (although that's helped by my son waking early for the last week and also having another sickness bug!) If I let myself, I feel anxious, but I'm trying to think positively this time around.

I'm definitely not feeling particularly pregnant! Also when I do notice symptoms (boobs/nausea/tiredness) I can't help feeling like I'm only noticing because I'm looking for it... It's very anxiety provoking!

Superscientist · 17/02/2025 17:39

@Figtree11 I got a 3+ on a week test today so my best guess is that I'm now is 5+ weeks. Since middle of last week I've been nauseous. Normally it's weeks 4-6 mostly a bit nauseous occasionally being sick and 5.5-6+ weeks debilitating nausea and frequent vomiting. In my first 2 pregnancies I didn't test until 4+5 weeks and had zero symptoms aside from missing a period. With the 1st pregnancy I got my positive test on the 18th dec and the nausea started on the 23rd by the 25th I struggled to eat

MummyV2021 · 18/02/2025 09:09

Hi ladies! Tentatively joining as 4+4 today and seeing good progression on tests, so starting to relax a bit. EDD is 24th October. I'm going to get to past 5 weeks and then book a private scan for around the 8 week mark I think. For me right now, I want to get past this weekend then I might relax a bit! Why do losses mess with your head so much?! (I had a CP in Sep and early MC in Dec - similar journey to my DS1 who's now 3, so hoping for a similar patter and that this one is my sticky rainbow!)

Question I have - what pregnancy vitamins is everyone taking or planning to take?! I took pregnacare with DS1 but am now reading mixed things about them and the stuff they add to them. Have seen some recommendations recently for some more natural/plant based options (I think it was wild and miridian) but they can be expensive! And I read on Tommy's website that you don't really need anything other than Folic Acid and Vit D with a balanced diet. I'm happy to spend money on vitamins if it's worth it - but wanted to get thoughts from others!

@MummyV2021 my fertility clinic just say vit d and folic acid

Morning Ladies,
I am 6 weeks tomorrow (date of my last AF) I’ve been lurking on here but not posted.

In answer to @MummyV2021 I am just following the NHS guidelines of Vit D and Folic acid.

I finally got around to referring myself on my local hospitals maternity thingy yesterday. Has anyone done this before, do I just patiently wait for a letter?

This is our first so I’m a total newbie.

Also, if you’re at similar weeks to me, what are your symptoms? I’ve only got sore boobs, and always hungry (but that’s not really new lol).

Mattietoes · 18/02/2025 17:25

I'm doing Vit D, folic acid and 75mg aspirin as recommended by the private consultant we saw for fertility tests.

Given my history of early losses I contacted my GP this morning to let them know about this pregnancy and they have given me an appointment for tomorrow morning. I wonder if they will refer me to the EPU for early monitoring. The thought of going to the GP makes me feel really anxious as that was how all my previous losses started. But I'm trying to be sensible and remember that there are no worrying signs so far this time.

I tested again and had good line progression so that was reassuring. Still no strong symptoms but quite tired and extremely hungry!
