I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

I meant to add I also feel quite sick if I'm hungry. Thankfully not off any particular food at the moment. I've gone from getting queasy first thing in the morning around 5-6 weeks to having that less but now feeling sick if I'm hungry (which is quite often). Not sure if that's a normal change although I know everyone experiences things differently.

Glad to hear I'm not alone with this 😂 so I tend to eat wholemeal bread anyway but definitely more so now due to constipation 😅 ooh yeah carrots and hummus sounds good! I love blueberry muffins, yum! I was convinced I'd put some weight on but turns out it's just quite a lot of bloating (for now anyway!).

I think the thing is I love basically all food and just want to eat it all, even more than I would normally 😂 I have been craving samosas on and off since new years because a party I went to had them at the buffet. No 'weird' cravings yet, just cravings for all food! Have you had any odd cravings or is it more just for food in general? 😊

I normally eat granary or whole meal bread and don’t like white bread so it’s quite a change for me!
I just feel like I constantly need food. If I’m slightly hungry then I feel sick, but if I eat too much I also feel sick so trying to get the balance right and basically just constantly eat!
I don’t think I have any proper cravings yet, but I have to have prawn crackers and hoisin sauce in the afternoon. And I really want to have soup for lunch. I’ve also gone off meat a bit so been having more vegetarian meals than normal.

MayDay91 · 09/01/2025 11:49

@Row23 I have been feeling the same and am almost 10 weeks. My overall nausea (which was not lots in the first instance) faded more at about 9 weeks but will basically appear if I don't eat quickly enough and at frequent intervals. I wake up and start my commute feeling hunger pangs and associated nausea, whereas previously I used to eat when I got to work and just because I 'should'! I have to eat around every 1-2 hours to keep on top of it so trying to be healthy but not always easy! On work days it's definitely more pronounced than on chilled home days.

I make sure I have plenty of snacks at my desk and at home. Healthy things working for me are naked bars, nuts, fruit, granola and yoghurt.

Hope everyone’s keeping okay! Anyone put my mind at rest? 😂 7 week scan is finally this Sunday coming up but I’m so worried week 4-5 I had such strong symptoms nausea / sore boobs/dizzy then the symptoms just stopped. I’m still exhausted and touch wood no bleeds etc but I am freaking that I’m almost 7 weeks and the symptoms have just stopped anyone had this ?

Loonyluna16 · 09/01/2025 15:55

Hi, hope it’s ok to join this thread? I was on mumsnet for my 2018 baby and ended up in a Facebook group with them which is still active to this day and a great source of comfort and advice. This is my 9th pregnancy but will be my 2nd baby, last time I was pregnant was 2019 and that was my twins I miscarried, I’ve not been pregnant since, until November I noticed I was a few days late, I’ve recently been backwards and forwards wanting to get some hormonal checks as my family has an extensive history of early menopause- I’m 33 this year which tracks with the other women in my family so I thought as a last resort I’ll do a pregnancy test just to double check and much to our absolute shock a very obvious and clear positive pregnancy test! We went for an early reassurance scan on the 27th of December and saw our little bean with a lovely little heartbeat. Based on dates I’m due roundabout the 20th of August. Vvvv tired this time round, very nauseous but not sick really just the fatigue I wish I could get over! Although when I was pregnant with our 6 year old I could nap whenever I wanted 😂. So our little boy was a September 2018 baby and he’ll be 7 less than a month after baby is born, he’s very excited to be a big brother and coping very well with the news. he was fully diagnosed with autism in the middle of 2024 so I know this is going to be a massive change to him but just hopeful he remains as excited as he is and we can make it an easy transition for him. Sorry for the essay! Hope everyone else is feeling as ok as they can be..

From what I know around 7-8 weeks hormones are beginning to peak and level out and the symptoms can be less extreme, I’m 8w2d and my boobs have stopped being as sore as they were in the last week-10 days. Honestly at about 6 weeks I couldn’t even bare my tops touching them it was so sore. My only persistent symptom seems to be tiredness, sending you lots of positivity as I know how anxiety ridden this time can be

Oh I do hope that’s a bit of a normal thing then that everything has settled a bit! Thank you for the reassurance!!
I agree though the tiredness is a lot isn’t it! Sending you all the luck and health with your little one!

Got my booking appointment tomorrow with midwife.

Desperate for my scan date so we can go public. With Baby 1 my scan was at 11+2.

Those with scans booked when are they?

Iyellalot92 · 09/01/2025 20:32

Hey, hope its OK to join.

I'm currently 8+2, ive been feeling awful lately.
Does anyone have any tips with nausea? I'm really struggling to work, im a self employed nail tech so I can't just call in sick when I'm struggling. And that seems to be most days haha.

My last 2 pregnancies i had no sickness, was tired quite a bit but with this one I seem to fall asleep every time I sit down for longer than 5mins.

Me too, I found sickness bands helped for a while, or lying on my left side. Personally had it since Christmas Eve so speaking to a GP Monday about meds.

Hope it goes well :) my booking appointment was Tuesday just gone, and scan is 11th Feb, so nearly 5 weeks after. I imagine it varies a lot by hospital though.

I ended up being admitted to hospital a few days ago for the 5th time as I felt so poorly and they found 3+++ ketones in my urine sample. I was given IV fluids, 3 different anti sickness meds and vitamins and diagnosed with HG. I’ve been taking Ondansetron and it is honestly a miracle drug, of course I still feel nauseous but it has massively helped with vomiting, I haven’t puked once since taking it. If anyone is struggling with really bad nausea I would recommend asking for Ondansetron, I hope everyone suffering with nausea is feeling better soon it really is difficult 💐

SureLook · 09/01/2025 22:39

Congratulations @Loonyluna16 so lovely that your son is excited to be a big brother!

SunshineDaisies24 · 09/01/2025 22:46

@caramelcappucino sorry to hear that, it sounds like you had an awful time but glad you managed to find something that helped. Mine isn't nearly as bad as that thankfully - just nausea - it's just so constant and starting to bring me down.

I hope you feel better soon once you speak to your GP about some meds! I don’t want to recommend the usual tricks because I know how annoying that can be.

Cyclizine is usually the first line of medication GPs will offer for nausea.

NatMarshalll · 09/01/2025 23:28

So sorry to hear so many of you have been suffering with nausea and sickness; I had it bad in my last pregnancy so you have my sympathy! Ginger and mint flavoured things were a godsend when it was really rough. Feel better soon 💐

I’m still not feeling sick at all this time and boobs much less achy too.. been up multiple times in the night to go to the toilet though- I don’t remember weeing this much before 3rd trimester before! 7+1 now.. booking appt isn’t until 27th!

greentree16 · 10/01/2025 07:35

@JB2021 had my booking appt on tues at 8+4. Scan is on 29th at 11+5! Apparently they can be between 11-14 weeks x

ClaudiaRaz · 10/01/2025 08:31

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this thread but I feel ready to join now. I'm 8 weeks today after having had a IVF 5day embryo transfer (my first FET ended in a chemical). I've seen the heartbeat twice (first at 7 weeks viability scan and then on Weds because I was super anxious and my symptoms have been coming and going) and all looks great so far. I have my booking appointment on Weds next week and my due date is 22nd Aug - any due date buddies?
Had quite bad nausea and vomiting from week 6, but it seems to have improved? Only other symtoms are fatigue and very thirsty.
Hope everyone is getting on OK!! The first trimester is pretty wild.

I'm up a lot at night to go to the toilet too!

I'm 8+5, and my midwife appointment isn't until the 31st! When I'll be nearly 12 weeks (all being well). They did say the scan could be up to 14 weeks. I think it's based on availability and the fact that I've gone through IVF so waited until my 7 week scan to contact. I'm assuming I have to wait for my appointment on the 31st before I'll know my scan date? 🙈

strawberrylaces12 · 10/01/2025 10:06

Suddenly having a lot of worries/anxiety this morning (more so than usual) about the pregnancy progressing. I'm not even sure what's triggered it, maybe just a build up from all of the fertility treatment and being used to things going wrong. Very tempted to book a private scan in the meantime because I don't think my 12 week scan will be until at least 13 if not 14 weeks (as my booking appointment isn't until the 31st when I'm nearly 12 weeks).

Is anyone else finding this time an anxious time?

@strawberrylaces12 Hey, this was me earlier this week... I've also had to go through ivf for this pregnancy. Definitely book in a private scan to put your mind at ease - I'm so glad I did it this week, as I was incredibly anxious. It was money well spent and tbh I'm going to keep doing it when I have a wobble.

Thank you! I think I've been put off a bit by the nurse who did the 7 week scan saying not to have too many scans due to the ultrasounds and have a minimum 2 weeks in between if we do have an extra scan. I feel like whatever I do I'll be anxious 😭 going to see how I feel in a bit and book one if I'm still struggling. I wonder if it gets less worrying as the pregnancy goes on or if having that 12 week scan, bump growing, and feeling the baby helps. I would imagine I'll still be counting down the days to each scan 😂

Hmmm just been doing some googling and tbh I can't see anything concrete about it being harmful. My first was transvaginal and then the latest was a pelvic one.

I definitely think we will feel like this up to the 12 week milestone... but I'm hoping after that I can start to relax a little. Here's hoping!! 😅it's taken me 3.5years to get here... so I don't think I'll ever relax properly.

I saw someone else say this recently and had never heard that before! I had to have lots of extra scans with my son for various reasons, including at 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13, 15 and 18 weeks. He's absolutely perfect and I was never told of any risks associated with extra scanning.
