Congrats @ClaudiaRaz I remember you from the fertility forum! So happy that things are going well. I'm just two days ahead of you though next scan is on Monday so I'll find out if I'm still "on schedule" then. I'm also getting the thirst, particularly first thing in the morning and last thing at night. First week back at work has been challenging with the fatigue! Hope you feel better soon. My nausea has also tapered off this week thankfully.

Hmmm just been doing some googling and tbh I can't see anything concrete about it being harmful. My first was transvaginal and then the latest was a pelvic one.

I definitely think we will feel like this up to the 12 week milestone... but I'm hoping after that I can start to relax a little. Here's hoping!! 😅it's taken me 3.5years to get here... so I don't think I'll ever relax properly.

Thank you! After discussing it again with my wife and my mum I've booked a private scan for when I'm just over 10 weeks. Already feeling a bit better 😊

LolaJ87 · 10/01/2025 11:05

I saw someone else say this recently and had never heard that before! I had to have lots of extra scans with my son for various reasons, including at 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13, 15 and 18 weeks. He's absolutely perfect and I was never told of any risks associated with extra scanning.

That might have been me earlier in the thread 😂 that's really reassuring thank you! I've booked a private scan for the 20th when I'll be just over 10 weeks all being well 🤞

PregnantAtLast · 10/01/2025 14:32

@LolaJ87 @strawberrylaces12 @ClaudiaRaz I don't think there are any physical risks associated with ultrasound scans. I think the midwife would have advised against it because having excessive scans can increase anxiety.

Even if you had a scan every single day, you would still have a day in between when something could happen, if that makes sense? You can't have eyes on it at all times, so beyond a certain point, more scans doesn't really help.

I think private scans are great for those who need reassurance, but she is probably trying to stop you potentially wasting a lot of money.

Hello @tpeas !! Yes, FET transfer buddy! Really pleased to see you on this forum too and glad to hear you're doing ok. I've been excessively thirsty since the transfer! Chugging water for weeks now 😅 Yes this week has been a bit intense - glad it's the weekend! Is that a private scan with your clinic? My nausea has subsided a little, but I do still find myself randomly dry heaving throughout the day. Delightful! 🥲

Glad you're doing ok too, but hope your nausea goes away soon! Haha I even find water just doesn't cut it sometimes, there's something so refreshing about a nice glass of orange juice at the moment 😅. No, it's my last scan with the clinic which was through NHS treatment, then that'll be it I think. Will your next scan just be at 12 weeks?

PregnantAtLast · 11/01/2025 05:00

@ClaudiaRaz @tpeas Just wanted to say hi because my pregnancy was IVF too! (after 5 years of trying - first pregnancy) Seems like there are a few of us on here with @strawberrylaces12 too! (Anyone else?)

I'm due 9th August :) It's so nerve wracking being discharged by the clinic isn't it?

Are you all on progesterone? I have my 12 week scan on the 29th, very excited about that but I'm a bit worried about stopping the progesterone even though I know that's irrational!!

I'm also really worried about announcing the news... we've told those closest to us (parents and a couple of good friends)... but I'm terrified of something going wrong after we announce it more widely! Have you all shared your news yet? We've said we'll do it at 12 weeks but I don't know if I'll feel ready.

I've also got my first midwife appt this morning 😬 (was meant to have it 2 weeks ago but it got cancelled!)

Hope you are all doing OK and everyone else on the forum too. I'm also loving OJ at the moment @tpeas ! xx

PregnantAtLast · 11/01/2025 05:08

@tpeas sorry I just realised we've already chatted a bit on here - I'm terrible at remembering usernames. Hope you are doing ok lovely!

Meeting · 11/01/2025 06:37

I went for a rescan yesterday, after having one the week before thinking I was 8/9 weeks but she said I was barely 5/6 so needed to come back the following week.

Anyway after a week of worrying I saw the tiny little heartbeat and was overjoyed. I'm now 7 weeks today. The joys of having PCOS and cycles that can be anything from 4 weeks to 6 months!

So I'm now due at the end of August instead of the beginning x

greentree16 · 11/01/2025 07:35

@PregnantAtLast not pregnant through IVF but through ovulation induction so also on progesterone pessaries! Aren't they awful 😂

I'm hoping to see my clinic one final time next week at 10 weeks then I have my NHS scan at 11+5. Also scared about stopping them but I've heard by then the placenta has largely taken over? Do you think you'll be off them at 12 weeks?

Magix86 · 11/01/2025 08:08

Have been following this thread for some time but not posted yet. I'm another IVF pregnancy. First time being pregnant so I'm a complete ball of anxiety lol. Had our scan on Wednesday when I was 7 weeks and everything seemed good. They wanted me to stop the progesterone at 8 weeks which sent me into a panic so they reluctantly agreed 10 weeks. I actually found another box at home so will have enough until I'm 11 weeks. I'm really worried about stopping it as although I hate doing them I feel somehow reassured that they must be doing something good!
We have nothing now until our 12 week scan so I think we'll have a private scan at 10 weeks just for peace of mind. I can't stop worrying that something is going to go wrong

I'm not on progesterone for this FET as the consultant said if my level was high enough on transfer day (which it was, 50.7 and they wanted anything over 30) then we could try without. But I have had them for fresh transfer and previous IUIs so I remember it well 😅 I'm married to a woman so always knew we'd be going through fertility treatment but I don't think we realised it was going to take this long or have as many hurdles. We had our first round of IVF which led to total failed fertilisation even with ICSI and 19 mature seemly good quality eggs injected. Thankfully with some tweaks like artificial oocyte activation and a change of donor we had a much more successful 2nd round.

We've told our close family such as parents, sister in law, and two best friends. But not sure we'll share too much more widely until 12 weeks (well 13/14 weeks by the time i have the scan). I definitely get that feeling of 'jinxing' or things going wrong after telling people. But I guess it could happen at any stage and it's better that close and trusted people know and are there to support.

I hope the Midwife appointment goes well, let us know what it's like? I assume lots of admin stuff but it's an exciting step forwards! Xx

Hey! I'm actually on a fully medicated protocol to 12 weeks - estrogen tabs and patches, progesterone injections and pessaries, Clexane injections, aspirin and steroids 😵😵‍💫 I can't wait to be off the steroids!!

Feel similar to you about sharing the news. Our parents know but I think i'll leave it a while to tell friends!!

tpeas · 11/01/2025 10:42

@PregnantAtLast no problem at all me too! Great to hear an update from you and that your 12 week scan isn't too far off. I still have some time to go as I'm now 8w 3d based on last scan. I have my final clinic scan on Mon then I'll be discharged, and midwife appt next week too. I'm on progesterone as well but looking forward to getting off it to be honest! We told close family over Christmas and a close friend but think I'll wait til close to 12 weeks to tell people more widely.
I don't know if any of you are on the WhatsApp group but if you fancied setting up one for us IVF-ers let me know, might make it easier to chat. Absolutely no pressure though. Also tagging @strawberrylaces12 and @Magix86 , congrats ladies. Sounds like you're on a lot of meds @ClaudiaRaz , hope that's not been too bad!

Magix86 · 11/01/2025 11:05

@tpeas thank you 😊 would love to join a new whatsapp group if anyone is setting this up x

Suddenly having a lot of worries/anxiety this morning (more so than usual) about the pregnancy progressing. I'm not even sure what's triggered it, maybe just a build up from all of the fertility treatment and being used to things going wrong. Very tempted to book a private scan in the meantime because I don't think my 12 week scan will be until at least 13 if not 14 weeks (as my booking appointment isn't until the 31st when I'm nearly 12 weeks).

Is anyone else finding this time an anxious time?

I'm really sorry you're feeling anxious. I've been more anxious this pregnancy compared to my last 2, and for no reason at all. I was really tempted to book a scan too but waited in the end until my 12 week scan (I'm actually 10 weeks though as i didnt track ovulation). Wanted to let you know you're not alone and totally understand those feelings :)

SunshineDaisies24 · 11/01/2025 13:30

@caramelcappucino thank you, fingers crossed, I was really unwell yesterday. I have tried everything I can

Peachmelbaa · 11/01/2025 14:38

@PregnantAtLast I’m on progesterone too. I conceived naturally but I had a MMC with my last pregnancy and it’s taken us a year and a half to get pregnant again. I’m on two cyclogest pessaries a day until 16 weeks. Not sure how they decide how long you should take it for, I want to take it until 20 weeks for peace of mind but I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed to.

Aah congratulations! :)

Are you on cyclogest? I'm on utrogestan this time - I've tried both but I much prefer the utrogestan, it's smaller and milder! (But I have to take it 3 times a day which is a pain - I have to take it at work/ out and about if I'm not home at lunchtime! 😬)

Yes I think at 12 weeks the placenta is meant to have taken over... I've got loads left so could probably go longer with it if I wanted - But I will try to come off them as I know I'm being a bit irrational!

Good luck for your scan!

Hey, congrats on your pregnancy! :) I'm the same, first pregnancy so I'm quite anxious too. It's really hard not to worry isn't it? - especially when you've been through so much to get here with fertility treatments - I think it's normal.

Do you know why they wanted you to come off it at 8 weeks? They normally say to go to 12 weeks so that seems unusual! I haven't heard that it does any harm though even if you have too much, other than hormonal side effects. Good luck for your scans! - Keep us updated! :)

Wow @strawberrylaces12 it sounds like you have been through a lot - the total fertilisation failure must have been heartbreaking and so worrying. It really does a number on you doesn't it? Huge congrats on your pregnancy 💛

We've had a lot of hurdles too and it's been a really long time for us - I remember when we first found out we needed intervention (early 2020), my husband was worried about how long it would all take, how stressful it would be etc - I was so sure I'd be pregnant in a year, it wasn't a big deal, and told him not not to worry - but it took us 5! (And a huge amount of emotional turmoil to boot).

The midwife appointment was great - she was so friendly and warm - it was a huge amount of info though! She did everything expected really - medical history, blood test, blood pressure, BMI etc. It is an exciting step! Have you had yours yet/ do you have it coming up soon?

PregnantAtLast · 12/01/2025 06:07

@tpeas Thanks! Good luck for your midwife appointment. It feels like such a long wait until the scan doesn't it? Hope you're doing OK!

I'm also up for being part of an August 2025 IVF Whatsapp group but don't know how to set it up - Would we have to share our phone numbers or is it possible to just make a link somehow? (I think I've seen people do this but don't know how!)

PregnantAtLast · 12/01/2025 06:11

@Peachmelbaa Sorry for your loss - that sounds so difficult and such a long time for you to get to this point again. Congratulations on your pregnancy though, you must be over the moon.

I don't know how they decide either about the progesterone. They say the placenta takes over progesterone production by 12 weeks, so maybe they've said 16 weeks to err on the side of caution?

I really hope it all goes well for you this time - I have everything crossed for a happy healthy pregnancy and baby for you! xx

Tryingfor3rd · 12/01/2025 07:21

@meeting my daughter will be 2 years 3 months when this little one is born but I also have a son who is 4. How about you?
