Hi all! Didn’t see an August thread yet so here we go.

I got my BFP today and my EDD is 2nd of August next year.

I’m 37 and this is my second baby, I have a son who’ll be 2 next month.

Welcome to all other August mums-to-be and please introduce yourselves! ♥️

Is there a WhatsApp group already for August due date?

Notsure31 · 13/01/2025 08:06

If anyone is having early scans when are you getting them? As I’ve had recurrent miscarriage I get one at 6 and 9 weeks at epau, currently waiting for the 9 week one and it feels like such a long wait. I’m in two minds as to whether to book a private one as well but I hate the idea of getting bad news at a private scan and then being sent to being re-scanned at the hospital anyway.

Confusedmermaid1 · 13/01/2025 11:16

@Notsure31 I’m also waiting for a second scan at EPU and it’s the longest 2 weeks of my life 😅 I think if it was a 3 week wait I’d still try and wait for EPU rather than the private. Had bad news at a private in my last pregnancy (wasn’t due a follow up with EPU for that pregnancy) and it was obviously awful but all they can do for you is say here’s a leaflet and they offered to contact EPU but I just did it myself to avoid delay.

I did only need one scan at EPU to confirm no heartbeat as they had seen a heartbeat at an earlier scan luckily but still wouldn’t allow the private scan to count for anything if you see what I mean..

All that to say that’s just me personally. For me having an additional private between EPU scans wouldn’t have appeased my anxiety enough to be worth it, if that makes sense..
Fingers crossed for positive news no matter what you decide 🩷 waiting is shit!

Notsure31 · 13/01/2025 12:17

@Confusedmermaid1 thanks for this, I’ve still got another 2 weeks to wait for the 9 week one, I know it might just be because of my previous losses but I just can’t see it being good news or me getting to 9 weeks as I haven’t got that far before 😞 only symptoms I’m having are tiredness and sore boobs and feeling a bit sick on a morning and evening that’s it. I’m on progesterone and baby aspirin to help sustain the pregnancy but that doesn’t seem to be making much difference to my anxiety x

greentree16 · 13/01/2025 12:56

@Notsure31 I know it's really difficult and I feel in a similar position, the first trimester anxiety is really difficult! The aspirin and progesterone will be helping. I've found taking it day by day really helpful and sharing all of my worries with my lovely DH who always tries to reassure me.

Your body is doing it's absolute best to grow baby and the chances are in your favour. I also find it helpful not to go google too much to avoid getting into my own head! The scans are incredible for reassurance and there is nothing better than hearing that little heartbeat x

Confusedmermaid1 · 13/01/2025 13:24

@Notsure31 I’m the same, haven’t got past 9 weeks yet so I totally sympathise
I was measuring behind at my last scan so I’m expecting the worst this time too, they did prescribe progesterone but I haven’t tried aspirin, not sure if it’s too late at this point anyway
My only symptoms are sore boobs and feeling thirsty all the time, I almost wish I had morning sickness 😅 I barely feel pregnant at this point.
I’m 8+3 and have my scan Thursday so technically 8+6 rather than 9..
Crossing my fingers for a healthy pregnancy, you’re not alone!

Notsure31 · 13/01/2025 13:56

@Confusedmermaid1 how far were you measuring behind if you don’t mind me asking? I was measuring behind 2 days, I do know when I ovulated and got a positive test but they didn’t seem too concerned at epu, I know it’s normal to measure a bit behind but it’s still fuelled up my little worry voice 🙈 is your scan a private one or epu? Good luck with it anyway x

Notsure31 · 13/01/2025 13:57

@greentree16 thanks for this, I just really find it so hard to trust my body due to previous missed miscarriages x

Confusedmermaid1 · 13/01/2025 14:40

@Notsure31 I was 6+6 at the time of the scan and the sonographer said 5-6 weeks (we could see a decent heartbeat) but when I went to chat to the senior nurse the sonographer had written 5+0 (3mm) so somewhere between 6 days and a week and 6 days 🙈 I track ovulation so obviously I know it couldn’t have been the case that I was actually 5 weeks so just waiting to see what the next scan says. I’m struggling to stay positive but DH has always been the optimistic one and he ‘has a good feeling’ 🤷🏻‍♀️
I believe if this pregnancy ends in miscarriage I will be referred for additional testing as it will be my third consecutive loss however obviously I’d rather it not get to that point 😅 time will tell

Confusedmermaid1 · 13/01/2025 14:46

@Notsure31 (can’t edit and missed this bit)
its EPU, the nurse ‘broke the rules’ by booking me in for a follow up because I was sobbing.. 😅 it was pretty much an exact copy of what happened in my previous pregnancy when I had a scan at 6weeks ish because of bleeding (measuring behind and haematoma) which ended in MMC so she took pity on me I think and couldn’t face sending me away with no follow up

TinkRose · 13/01/2025 17:43

I had my booking appointment on the 2nd Jan and my blood results have still not been uploaded to Badger Notes - is this normal? Would they have contacted me if anything needed checking further? I’m only worrying as had some bloods done for my thyroid today but they also did a full blood count. My MCH was on the borderline of normal/high, doctor google (I know…) has said that could be a vitamin b/folate deficiency.

They should have contacted you. The GP called me Thursday about mine being slightly abnormal after having them done on Tuesday.

So maybe the midwife wasn’t worried about the levels then? The doctor has commented that everything is normal when I’ve seen my results on the app but also, my medical records don’t actually state anything about me being pregnant!

I’m sure she’s seen them and would have reviewed them based on your pregnancy. I had a call because the GP didn’t know I was pregnant and actually it’s normal for them to be slightly raised in pregnancy 🙈. If it says on the app reviewed by GP and normal then definitely don’t worry about them.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any tips to help with bloating? I used to take peppermint oil capsules pre pregnancy but don’t think I can now. Feel like I’ve ballooned recently!

Thanks :)

I know how you feel! Unfortunately just had to wait for it to pass, eating smaller meals more often might help though.

Fam23 · 16/01/2025 20:27

Have you tried peppermint tea? That might be effective with de-bloating 🤞🏼

Blakethedrake · 18/01/2025 13:26

Hi everyone,

I'm getting scans on the nhs every 3 weeks due to recurrent miscarriages and finding out I have APS. EPU have been great and said if I have any worries to come in for a scan.
i have my next one at the end of Jan.
Being in hospitals and scans stress me out so much even though I should be grateful for the additional monitoring x

Thanks understandable, hospitals aren't always the nicest places and so much going on! Is there anything that helps calm/distract you, like listening to music, playing a game on your phone, or a fidget toy?

Thank you 💓 I hadn’t actually thought of this, I suppose I just shut down leading up to the scan and then feel sick on the day 🤣

I really like the idea of listening to music that’s a really good shout. I can’t even speak to my husband when we get there so maybe if I put a classical music playlist together or something that can try and calm/distract me x

SunshineDaisies24 · 18/01/2025 15:20

@Blakethedrake good luck :)

DragonflyRuby · 18/01/2025 19:40

I hope everyone is doing ok? I’m 12+1 today but have to wait until next Friday 13w for my scan. I feel like time is standing still! I had my private NIPT test done Friday so also impatiently waiting for the results of that. Anyone else had one or planning to?

My sickness and nausea has calmed right down thankfully. The last couple of weeks it’s only been bad in the afternoons/evenings so thank god I don’t wake up feeling like I can’t move! Did just randomly puke this evening when I suddenly got heartburn but it’s definitely improving.

My new weird symptom is that when I sneeze I feel like I pull all the muscles around my pubic bone! Sneezed at work and instantly doubled over, that was fun to explain!! I assume it’s ligaments?

I'm booked in for my NIPT on Tuesday. I'm not too worried about any abnormalities but I am absolutely DYING to know the gender. I'm so impatient 😂

I had that pain too in my first pregnancy but when I coughed rather than sneezed. It persisted throughout my whole pregnancy and I also assumed it was just ligaments 🤷🏻‍♀️

DragonflyRuby · 18/01/2025 21:13

@SureLook Thanks that’s reassuring that you had it before and all was well. I get it when I cough or sneeze without bracing! 😂

Yes also really excited to find out the sex. I feel like that’ll help it all feel a bit more real.
