I'm now 14dpo. The lines on the various pregnancy tests I've been taking are darkening but I don't know if they're where I'd expect things to be, given that I got the first BFP 5 days ago. I've had a positive on a 25miu test (Sainsbury's cheapy) yesterday which is encouraging, but no evidence of a surge on the LH strip I've taken today. I'm sure I've seen much darker lines on OPKs on CD2 when I've not been pregnant!

This is going to be a long week/pregnancy I reckon. I just can't feel reassured yet...

@curliegirlie my last 2 pregnancies I have stepped away from the tests. This time I did 2 cheapy boots ones and one digital to confirm and as tempting as it is, I won't test again. From experience it's looked good on tests but turned out bad, and looked really bad based on tests and ended up good. The reality is it doesn't really prepare you for the worst as it doesn't give us much real information. I know how hard it is, would you be able to stop testing? And if not, will it give you enough reassurance/ information to feel informed?

curliegirlie · 25/02/2025 12:43

I don't know to be honest. I know things can go wrong at any stage - my previous early miscarriage was around 5 weeks, but I know that's by no means a guarantee that getting past that means anything. Especially at 42. I guess I just want to see things progressing beyond where I got to last time. The LH thing is because I remember with my first I got an absolutely blazing positive OPK at 19dpo so, again I was hoping it would help me see things move in the right direction. I want to get a weeks indicator at the weekend to hopefully see 2-3 weeks and that would be about right if you assume the doubling of HCG every 48 hours from 10miu last Thursday. But after that I will definitely try and step away from the tests.

I think my journey in this thread is going to be rather short. I woke up bleeding this morning. Fingers crossed we’ll be back soon with a more successful outcome, this is loss number 5 for us

curliegirlie · 25/02/2025 13:28

So sorry to read this @IDontDrinkTea, it's so gutting.

Figtree11 · 25/02/2025 18:27

@IDontDrinkTea i am so sorry. It’s so unfair

I’m in a panic as I’ve had some very light spotting. This is how my MC started before

Ginie2024 · 25/02/2025 18:39

I am so sorry for you both but maybe it's just normal 1st trimester spotting? Would you be able to do a blood test to check where your levels are at?

Figtree11 · 25/02/2025 19:03

@Ginie2024 maybe, as there’s not much at all. But I’m jumping to the worst. I’ve a scan at the miscarriage clinic next Tuesday so will monitor it ahead of then to see if I need to do anything sooner

Lemonyfire · 26/02/2025 06:12

@IDontDrinkTea I'm so sorry. Look after yourself ❤️

@Figtree11 I've had light spotting for a few days, I'm 4+3, I'm taking progesterone and aspirin so just hoping it's morning. I've had spotting with healthy and non healthy pregnancies so for me I know it's not an indicator xxx

Mattietoes · 26/02/2025 06:16

Figtree11 · 23/02/2025 19:44

@Superscientist its all sounding so positive. Hopefully your midwife can then sort your 12 week scan out quickly.

@curliegirlie that’s great that it’s now showing on that brand. I’m sure in another 2 days you’ll see even more progression

The anxiety is getting to me today. I’m constantly pressing on my boobs to check they are still sore. I keep going to the toilet even though I don’t need it to check there is no blood. Just struggling a bit. I’m 6 weeks today, although I think I’m a few days behind. First scan a week on Tuesday & im terrified

I could have written this myself! The anxiety is so so overwhelming and exhausting. Last night I felt like my sore boobs completely disappeared and went down a total rabbit hole, thinking the worst. They seem to be slightly coming back now but I still feel so anxious, and still don't have any strong symptoms like sickness. I do have a cold but I think that's unrelated! My first scan is 3rd March.

Figtree11 · 26/02/2025 06:26

@Lemonyfire thats reassuring to hear, thank you. I’m also on progesterone. My first loss started with similar spotting. And my second loss I had spotting but also a streak of pink blood, and the first scan I had after that showed a baby with heartbeat. But then 5 weeks later at the next scan it didn’t. So I can’t help but think the worst. I’ve hardly slept, and feel so sick with panic & worry. I daren’t yet go to the toilet this morning to check for more

@Mattietoes I’ve now been spotting 😔

Mattietoes · 26/02/2025 06:36

@Figtree11 I'm so sorry I didn't read most recent updates, I can see that must be so worrying. Can you get in to see anyone today?? Obviously it can be normal and nothing to worry about but must be hard to think that with previous loss history.

Figtree11 · 26/02/2025 06:44

@Mattietoes thats ok. I’m going to call the recurrent miscarriage clinic as I have a scan on Tuesday so will see if they can do it sooner. Not sure if they will though as I’m only just 6 weeks

Mattietoes · 26/02/2025 06:47

@Figtree11 I think they may, mine is scanning me at 6 weeks on the dot!

Figtree11 · 26/02/2025 09:24

@Mattietoes i called them & they said they only really scan for reassurance & they don’t have people scanning every day so if I’m worried to contact the EPU. The woman was so lovely & I did cry on her! She tried to say brown blood I shouldn’t worry about. But my loss before was like this. I might see how today goes and then try make a EPU appt later this week if it carries on

Just looking for some reassurance about stopping progesterone. I was meant to stop at 16 weeks but I’m 17 weeks today and still taking it as I’m too scared to stop. I’ve decide that I’ll stop from today as I’ve already taken it a week longer than I was told to. How was everyone else’s experience stopping progesterone?

I was on progesterone and felt the same anxiety. I was happy to stop because it’s not the most pleasant thing to take… but really nervous about things going wrong after stopping. I can happily say though that I’m now 23 weeks and have a happy healthy baby boy growing in there. Just thought I’d comment to share some hope 💕

LER2023 · 08/03/2025 06:22

After whats been nearly a year, not actively trying to saying it will happen when it happens, and then going to the RMC for my first appointment🫠 (oopsies)

Im back in the worrying stages now!
We'll see how this one goes shall we😊

Hows everybodys experience been with progesterone.. as i'll be prescribed them this pregnancy!

Gentle congratulations @LER2023! I had progesterone in my last pregnancy and it was completely fine. Fingers crossed for you xx

Superscientist · 08/03/2025 12:46

I've been put on progesterone too no issues so far.

curliegirlie · 08/03/2025 13:08

@LaTable I feel exactly the same. It feels a million times years ago that I had my BFP, yet a similar length to go until my 12 week scan. It will be a good couple of months until any of this feels real!

Peachmelbaa · 08/03/2025 20:36

@LER2023 congratulations! I was put on progesterone at 5 weeks due to spotting until 16 weeks but I had extra so took it until 17 weeks. I’m now 19 weeks pregnant and everything seems great so far! I’m convinced the progesterone saved this pregnancy so I really would recommend it.

LER2023 · 11/03/2025 20:40

Progesterone question!
Do i put it up the vag? Or am i better off putting it up the bum?

Because i dont want to bleed and i dont want to scare myself😬

OP posts:
curliegirlie · 12/03/2025 13:23

Has anyone got any info on what progesterone actually does and what proportion of pregnancies it's estimated to help? I was under the impression that most early issues are most likely to do with chromosomal issues, and progesterone wouldn't be helpful for that would it?
