My bloody first appointment. You literally couldnt write it🤣

Infertility but not infertility, then i need a blood test today but its not today its on CD19, then he needs his sperm testing but they wont do that (understandable) it would be a GP but the GP wont touch him because its not been a year unless we say he works in the steel firm under hot works eg. Fires and heat ect, then i need a bigger dose of Folic acid because of my BMI then i need blood tests on the 3rd, 2nd, 4th day of my next period but i need to ring for an xray on the first day of my period and then i have an ultrasound booked in but i have to wait for my letter. Just please shoot me because im non the wiser!!!

Joining the thread as I am currently 4w 3d following two very early losses over the last year or so.

I am SO terrified and finding it very hard not to constantly anticipate things going wrong. I find I feel better briefly after testing and seeing line progression but then the relief wears off and I'm straight back to anxiety. But I'm also too anxious to test more than once every couple of days as I'm so scared of seeing the lines fade! It's all so draining.

That being said, obviously I'm over the moon to be in this position at all and hoping against hope that this is third time lucky. I have an early scan booked at EPU for 6 weeks (Monday 3rd March). At the moment I'm just hoping we get to that point with everything still looking promising.

Figtree11 · 19/02/2025 20:33

@Uguberry congratulations ☺️ such lovely news

@LER2023 sorry that your appointment was confusing. Positive steps forwards now you’re on the books

@Mattietoes i get the anxiety completely. I’m 5 weeks today and felt the most anxious today. Been having some twinges so been stressing about those. I’ve got my first scan the day after you. Dreading it really, I have full on scanxiety after previous bad news

Mattietoes · 20/02/2025 06:52

@Figtree11 It's debilitating isn't it!! I've woken up this morning and feel like my boobs have completely stopped hurting so naturally I am totally freaking out! I should be 4w 4d today...

Superscientist · 21/02/2025 12:47

I went to the epu yesterday to get my HCG measured to estimate how pregnant I am and to determine when to get a scan then discuss progesterone.
My levels have come back at 130k! I think that puts me at 7+ weeks! Eek!
I have a scan tomorrow morning and if everything is in the right place and looking ok they will prescribe the progesterone

My GP has prescribed some xonvea for the nausea. I was sick for the first time yesterday. I'm a bit nervous as usually my 7 weeks I'm barely keeping down food and it's mostly ok at the moment. On the flip side horrendous nausea didn't mean a successful pregnancy the last two times so I know symptoms don't tell you one way or the other

How's everyone else doing?

IDontDrinkTea · 21/02/2025 13:43

Tentatively posting in here after a positive test this morning, but it’s very early days…
I’m under the care of the recurrent pregnancy loss clinic as have had 4 miscarriages (although I also have 2 daughters - so this will be my 7th pregnancy if that makes sense).
So far can’t wrap my head around the idea that this could have any sort of positive ending

Superscientist · 21/02/2025 15:50

Hi @IDontDrinkTea I'm very much feeling the same. I have a daughter but this is my third pregnancy since July with the other two ending in loss. I have my first appointment with the reoccurring miscarriage team in March.

curliegirlie · 21/02/2025 18:23

Hi all, tentatively joining after getting a BFP yesterday at 9dpo after having MC a surprise pregnancy in March 2022 and a CP in November 2023. Safe to say I don't really believe it will stick around yet, but AF due on Monday I think. I already have two DDs and was just about to finally give up TTC forever! I still don't really believe it, but see how the next few days go. Is it a good sign that I got a BFP so early? I've never had any earlier than 10DPO before. The chemical pregnancy was complete squinters at 11 and 12dpo...

Ginie2024 · 21/02/2025 18:37

Cautious congratulations @curliegirlie and to all the other ladies! One thing I have learned from my previous miscarriages is that each pregnancy is different so I think it would be difficult to know @curliegirlie
Maybe a silly question but can I please ask how you go about having a scan with the EPU at 6 weeks? I am with the recurrent mc clinic and they told me to ring my GP when I am next pregnant, to have a referral to have an early scan but...it's about 2 weeks wait to have an appt with my GP and they don't do any referral unless they have had an appt...if I rely on my GP, there won't be any early scan at all and certainly no blood test either. I am curious about how you all go about it? Thank you

Figtree11 · 21/02/2025 18:58

@Mattietoes i hope you are doing ok today

@Superscientist oh wow! Sending loads of positivity your way for the scan tomorrow

@IDontDrinkTea tentative congratulations. I’m sorry about your losses. I have no children and had 2 MCs and can’t picture bringing home a baby

@curliegirlie congratulations. I’ve read about a lot of women getting positives at 9dpo, personally I’ve not tested til my period is due

@Ginie2024 that’s frustrating that it’s a long GP wait. At mine, you can only get on the day appts. So previously I’ve rang up that day & then got an appt. Then they refer to EPU and usually had the appt the day after. Do the recurrent miscarriage clinic not do scans? The one I’m under does, and I’m booked in for just under 7 weeks

Superscientist · 21/02/2025 20:17

@Ginie2024 when I had my first miscarriage the epu said to phone them when I'm 6 weeks and they will arrange an early scan. My hospital has a rainbow room where they offer early reassurance scans separate from the epu and normal scan rooms and it's available to any woman that has previously experienced a loss. I accessed this in my last pregnancy and had scans at 7+4 and 9+5. The first scan was behind so they wanted to check progress and then was moved to the epu when it didn't
This time around I called the epu but didn't know how far along I was as I hadn't had a period since my miscarriage so I'll be getting the scan at the epu as far as I am aware as it's for dating rather than reassurance

Peachmelbaa · 22/02/2025 08:18

Just looking for some reassurance about stopping progesterone. I was meant to stop at 16 weeks but I’m 17 weeks today and still taking it as I’m too scared to stop. I’ve decide that I’ll stop from today as I’ve already taken it a week longer than I was told to. How was everyone else’s experience stopping progesterone?

IDontDrinkTea · 22/02/2025 11:12

Can someone talk me down a little?! I got a bfp yesterday, took another test today and it isn’t any darker. The logical part of my brain knows it takes 48 hours to double etc however my husband voiced all my concerns out loud this morning by saying it’s not darker and asking if that means this one won’t end well either 😭 I know he’s just as anxious as me but that didn’t really help!

Pregnancy after loss part 3
Superscientist · 22/02/2025 13:42

When is your period due? How early are you?
I would avoid testing daily there's too many factors that impact how dark the test will be. If you do want to keep testing I'd keep it to every other or every 3 days as there should be a more noticeable difference.

I had a scan at the epu to date my pregnancy and I'm 8+3 weeks! Saw the heartbeat! I didn't get passed 6 weeks by scan results last time and I think the loss before that was a similar gestation. A little glimpse of hope that this might stick. I need to go back on Monday to get my progesterone on prescription.

curliegirlie · 22/02/2025 17:46

Gaah, this is why they say not to test early! One Steps arrived this afternoon - I tested, expecting to see at least a squinter, but nope! Panicked, I dashed to Boots for more of their tests. Came home and two lines again, similar, maybe slightly pinker than yesterday's. But I'm perplexed - I thought the Boots early tests and One Steps were the same sensitivity (10miu) 🤷‍♀️. Anyway, I've always found that One Steps not showing anything or progressing is a bad sign, so not feeling optimistic, even though I'm not 4 weeks yet...

Figtree11 · 22/02/2025 18:55

@Peachmelbaa i’m only in the early weeks of taking progesterone & been told to stop at 16 weeks too. I’ve read that the placenta does everything it needs to, so I’m sure you’ll be fine ❤️

@IDontDrinkTea my tests also didn’t look too different to each other when doing it a day after. Hopefully tomorrow you’ll see it get darker

@Superscientist that’s great! I wish I was 8 weeks already & skip these early weeks 😅

@curliegirlie i’m sorry you are having this confusion. But positive news that you are having positive tests on the boots ones. It’s probably just a bit too early yet

Superscientist · 23/02/2025 08:56

@Figtree11 thanks! I'm quite glad to have skipped some of the first trimester! Having done it twice already this last year I was so over the trepidation, fatigue and nausea/ sickness that comes with the early weeks!
It does feel a bit odd to be 8 weeks having only finding out a week ago!
I need to message my midwife in the week to see when she can book me in and get my dating scan arranged in the next few weeks

Superscientist · 23/02/2025 09:01

I would step away from the tests for a few days and test again on the day your period is due and try to limit tests to every other or every third day.

The tests might claim to have the lower limit but they might have different errors. So one more reliably detects at 10 miu than the other. There's variability in the amount of HCG in your urine too.

curliegirlie · 23/02/2025 10:03

I've taken a couple of One Steps since and thankfully they do have - very faint- lines so I'm feeling slightly more reassured. I guess that given I got the first BFP at 9dpo - albeit on a different brand - I thought that the doubling of HCG would make it clearer on the One Steps two days later.

Now I'm working up the courage to tell DH....wish me luck! The reality of it all is starting to hit me...(e.g. fitting another car seat in the car...)

Figtree11 · 23/02/2025 19:44

@Superscientist its all sounding so positive. Hopefully your midwife can then sort your 12 week scan out quickly.

@curliegirlie that’s great that it’s now showing on that brand. I’m sure in another 2 days you’ll see even more progression

The anxiety is getting to me today. I’m constantly pressing on my boobs to check they are still sore. I keep going to the toilet even though I don’t need it to check there is no blood. Just struggling a bit. I’m 6 weeks today, although I think I’m a few days behind. First scan a week on Tuesday & im terrified

Ginie2024 · 23/02/2025 19:54

@Figtree11 @Superscientist thank you for your feedback, may I ask if either of you are London-based? The RMC I go to at St Mary doesn't have reassurance scan or rainbow room as far as I know and they only accept women who have had at least 3 mc, but I will ask again just in case...good luck with your scan!🤞🍀

Figtree11 · 23/02/2025 20:18

@Ginie2024 no I’m not sorry. But the RMC I’m under is linked with Tommys. So might be why I have a scan, with them being a charity

Lemonyfire · 23/02/2025 23:20

Hello,
I'd like to join please. Found out last week I'm pregnant, this is my 6th pregnancy and I have two living children. Two first trimester miscarriages and lost our daughter in the second trimester in August. This pregnancy feels different to the other rainbow pregnancies in that I don't feel excitement. I just feel kind of numb. My husband thinks it's because it's early but I think I'm trying to protect myself in some way. There's also some fear that having another baby replaces our daughter which I know isn't true. I just wondered if other people had felt like this too?

I'm under greater Manchester hospitals sorry!

Ginie2024 · 24/02/2025 22:18

Thank you so much both, I will try another RMC, next time I have the double lines...🙄
