Got my first midwife appointment today and its probably going to be the longest appointment and i need to be back at work by 11.

I had to leave work early yesterday after this sickness beat my back side.
I threw up twice in my mouth yesterday🤮

Hoping the midwife can recommend something today. Even if its about speaking to the doctors about anti nausea meds!! Never had this before! Jesus the first trimester is so difficult.

I thought it was a breeze with my first 3😅

Sorry you've been feeling so sick. Mine is kicking my ass this week too, I've had to be off work.

No idea how we're supposed to hide it till it's time to tell them! My OH got me some ginger lozenges in an attempt to help bless him, I popped one in and immediately threw up 😅 it's the thought that counts haha x

The midwives in my experience aren't the most helpful with sickness but there's absolutely stuff that the GP can prescribe so I'd suggest going straight to them.
I've always had to tell work immediately due to being a lab user but it has helped to get adjustments with work due to the sickness. In my previous pregnancy I was switched to fully remote for as long as I needed and they relaxed the inform us by 10 am that I wasn't going to be in rule as they knew that was a difficult time for me and I could contact them later in the day when I could manage to message them. I ended up being signed off for a month

So pleased you had a good scan @LER2023

Fantastic news!! Glad to hear it’s given you some reassurance. Hope your first midwife appointment went well also.

Bellabubble · 05/04/2025 19:07

Hello everyone - a tentative join from me! I’m on my 5th pregnancy (one child) and had a scan on Thursday to check everything was where it should be at 5wks 6 days as I had very sharp pains on one side (EPAC have been brilliant and said they’ll treat me as a recurrent loss patient so are letting me have reassurance scans!) They have booked me in for another in 3 weeks, but I will probably pay for a private one before that too - just to hopefully see a heartbeat.

I’m a bit in limbo - happy we got a bfp, but not excited yet as I sort of feel it could be snatched away at any point. I have had a range of losses - all technically a mmc, but the first started “naturally” at 8 weeks although nothing had progressed past 5weeks, then an anembryonic pregnancy that my body didn’t want to let go of so had a d&c and then had my daughter. My last loss we saw a heartbeat at 6 and a half ish weeks, but it wasn’t where it should have been for dates (about a week behind) and my guess is that if we had heard the heartbeat it would more have been fast enough. When we went back a few weeks later nothing had progressed past 7ish weeks and again my body didn’t want to let it go.

This time we will go back to the original private scan company we went to as the lady is an ex midwife and has the equipment that means they play the heartbeat for you to let you know if it is strong enough. I’d rather be prepared and know either way these days!

sorry for such a long message!!

PurpleTurtleMoose · 05/04/2025 19:49

@bellabubble I'm so sorry you've been through that, the pain of those losses must be horrendous.
I completely relate to the fear of it all coming crashing down; after previous losses I can't accept things could be ok for me.
Logically though, most pregnancies do end in a healthy baby, so stay positive 💕

Superscientist · 05/04/2025 20:07

@Bellabubble welcome! I'm on pregnancy 4. First was my daughter then two losses both at 10 weeks. The second never got past 6 weeks and I think it was the same with the first. I'm nearly 15 weeks with this one. Fingers crossed this is your pregnancy too. I've been on progesterone since I had an early scan at 8 weeks at the EPU due to reoccurring miscarriage. I don't know if this has been the difference

Pumpkinspice13 · 05/04/2025 23:46

Welcome @Bellabubble It’s great that you have been offered a follow up scan. Have you seen anyone about your recurrent miscarriages? You could speak to your doctor about trying progesterone if you aren’t already. Wishing you lots of luck with this pregnancy!!!

Bellabubble · 07/04/2025 23:03

Thank you ladies :) luckily time is at least going fast this time around (I have my daughter to thank for that I think) although it can be tough as I’m already feeling rough. Luckily I haven’t been sick - I wasn’t with my daughter either - but I seem to always feel like I’m on the edge of throwing up from the moment I wake until I fall asleep. It happened before but didn’t go until around 18weeks - but I’m trying to see it as a positive in that it mirrors my only other full term.

@Pumpkinspice13 I haven’t been given progesterone - the hospital trust and GPs in my area only class them as recurrent if it is 3 in a row, and because my daughter was after the 2nd, it doesn’t count. I’m just lucky that the lovely nurses at the EPAC (they have seen me a lot bless them) have bent the rules for me reassurance scan wise. I have been taking 75g of aspirin a day and will do until about 12weeks - I did in with my full term pregnancy, didn’t with the most recent loss so then I got a bit superstitious!

CloudsInMyCoffee09 · 09/04/2025 18:27

Hello, hope everyone is doing OK.

Was wondering if anyone knows much about hcg testing?

I've had my results back, at 6+1 I was at 72,000 and at 6+4 I was about 98,000.

I know the numbers are high which seems promising but I'm concerned that they haven't increased much. From what I've read the rate of increase slows around six weeks, and I know everyone is different but I was hoping the test would provide some reassurance following two losses and it's done the opposite. I'm terrified it's going to end badly again 💔

ApplesNest · 12/04/2025 20:57

Welcome @Bellabubble, I don’t have much to add to the wonderful responses you’ve received. You’ll find great support here along the way. Fingers crossed for you.

@Superscientist really pleased to hear you’re 15 weeks along since I last popped on to this thread! Wishing you the most boring pregnancy, in the best way possible.

I’ve been away for a while due to work and scheduled appointments in the last 8 weeks. I can now safely say I’m at term at 37w+1 (apparently 37-42 weeks are classified as full term). I’m off aspirin now. Baby is currently footling breech, so we’re booked to get an ECV (rotate baby around to head down position, as though they are “massaging” belly). If that doesn’t work, we’ll either have an elective c-section scheduled at 39 weeks. I would have an emergency c-section if labour comes on spontaneously. Either way, we want this rainbow out and safe in our arms.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/04/2025 22:28

Hi all been on this thread from the beginning but I haven't posted! 33 weeks now got my C-section date booked. Seems like I've been pregnant a lifetime 😄

Livia515 · 30/05/2025 20:50

Hi :)
I got my bfp this week after two early losses last year. I will be 5 weeks on Sunday, so very early days! I have been so anxious today and tonight seem to have cramps possible trapped wind! Any one had similar? Thank you xxxxx

Superscientist · 31/05/2025 09:53

Hi welcome @Livia515 sorry for your losses. I don't think I did I remember always feeling very normal and not pms-y prior to pregnancy compared to other months but there's a whole range of " normal" in early pregnancy and later as your body starts preparing

ApplesNest · 31/05/2025 10:01

I wanted to pop on to share that I’ve finally graduated, with my rainbow born at the end of April. She’s an active 4 (nearly 5) week old and keeping us on our toes. Relieved is an understatement, I’m glad we made it here.

I’ll be stepping back from this thread - I want to wish you all the smoothest and most boring pregnancies, and all the luck for you ttc journeys (which isn’t easy mentally after loss(es)).

@SnakebitesandSambucas Hope you have little one in your arms now, too!

@Livia515 I was very gassy early on which caused discomfort, though you do get cramping now and then as your uterus expands. It didn’t last more than a day for me, if I can recall.

Superscientist · 31/05/2025 10:08

Congratulations @ApplesNest x

Thanks for your reply :) I am sorry for your losses too! Yeah I do remember this previously and it wasn’t related to the loss I don’t think. Seems to have passed now thankfully! Xxxxx

Yeah it seems to have gone this morning I am really pleased, thanks so much for your reply!

Wishing you the most amazing time with your beautiful baby xxxxx

LER2023 · 31/05/2025 15:58

@ApplesNest congrats on your special rainbow baby! Squeeze them as tight as you can!🥰

@Livia515 welcome to the thread!
I can recall having really bad trapped wind in the early days to the point i was just trying to jiggle the gas out. It was horrendous! Same happened with me, it literally went within a day, congratulations on your pregnancy! Theres some weird stuff that happens during pregnancy! After 3 losses im now currently 16 weeks and waiting for my gender scan which is planned for tomorrow!
The weird and wonderful is what makes pregnancy so scary and bizzare. But you have to do what you have to do, if that means swaying your body in an unflattering way to get rid of gas then go for it! It does help🤣
