Glad you had a positive scan @Peachmelbaa
I have a scan at 16+5 before we tell family and I’m feeling so anxious. There’s still 12 days to wait. I am so worried something will have happened between the 4 weeks between that and my 12 week dating scan

SnookyPook · 16/12/2024 13:21

@Moosey898 just catching up - so sorry to hear of your difficult news. So happy to hear there was a strong heartbeat at your scan though - you too @Peachmelbaa. My very first scan with Samuel was 21st Dec last year. I thought I was 7+4 but I measured 6+4 but with a strong heartbeat. I was nervous to be behind where I thought but we kept to that timeline for the whole pregnancy - must have ovulated/implanted late.

Moosey I can only imagine the complete overwhelm of thoughts and anxieties you must be dealing with now. I am just keeping everything crossed that this is your little miracle baby. Perhaps this one is meant to be and that is why they snuck in before you had to um and ah over test results. I pray that is the case 🙏🏼🌈 Have you been able to share your news with anyone close to you for additional support? Sending big hugs. We're here with you.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and manages to relax and enjoy Christmas a bit 💗

Peachmelbaa · 16/12/2024 22:21

Thanks @Moosey898 I have everything crossed for you too, I really hope that this is your little miracle 🤞 I’m here to talk whenever you need xx

@MiracleOctopus the anxiety never goes away does it ☹️ I feel like with every milestone that I hit I find something else to worry about. I hope your scan goes well ❤️

@SnookyPook thank you, that’s reassuring that you were measuring behind and everything was okay. I know I ovulate around cycle day 17 so a bit later than the norm and a lot of signs are pointing to that I implanted late so I’m hoping that’s the case 🤞

I’ve booked a private scan for the beginning of January when I’ll be either 9+1 or 9+6. The thought of waiting until 12 weeks was making me anxious.

Cosycore · 24/12/2024 08:39

Hello all. I’m tentatively sticking my toe in the water.

how did you all cope with early pregnancy after loss?
some days I do well, do the affirmations and other days I just want to cry.

Moosey898 · 24/12/2024 10:58

@Cosycore it's hard, for sure - the best thing for me was reminding myself that I'm not in control of the situation. So allowing it to overwhelm me wasn't beneficial in any way, mentally or physically. I try to keep busy, do things I enjoy etc. it's really hard not to focus on it and all the things that could go wrong, and it takes a lot of effort to try to just stay neutral (not even positive!). It's perfectly normal to be ok some days and not others. All you can do is try to take it one day at a time.

Cosycore · 24/12/2024 14:31

Thank you @Moosey898 I know logically you are totally correct.
just hoping for the best.

Moosey898 · 24/12/2024 14:45

@Cosycore the more I say it the more I believe it, but trust me I completely understand 😅 I'm in the same boat (with added complications/risks) but yeah - one day at a time is all we can do.
I hope you (and everyone) have a wonderful Christmas and can enjoy it 🎁

MiracleOctopus · 24/12/2024 17:21

Ended up having an extra scan last Monday due to pain but he was all good. Saw the midwife yesterday and heard the heartbeat. Got another scan at the end of the week before we tell family. Hope everyone is doing okay

Notsure31 · 24/12/2024 21:36

I’ve had recurrent losses and I’m now 4+4 pregnant. First time on progesterone and worrying about taking it right. Realised I’ve sometimes been getting up and moving afterwards and found out you’re not meant to. Also have an underactive thyroid which heightens risk and my anxiety! First scan on 4th of jan and I’m dreading it due to my experience with missed miscarriage.

If it’s progesterone pessaries then if you do it vaginally you need to lie down for 20 mins but you can do it rectally and not need to lie down.

I’ve not always been doing that which is making me worry now that it’s not been absorbed properly, but going to start straight away.

Uguberry · 25/12/2024 18:08

@Notsure31 Unless you noticed a significant amount leaking back out I'm sure it has absorbed enough fine. I took them between 6 and 16 weeks before bed so was always lying down after and still sometimes there was white leakage. Your body just might not absorb the full amount and expel some but you should ask your OB if you're worried.

I hope everyone who celebrates is having a nice Christmas and able to take their mind off things for a little while 🎄

Peachmelbaa · 28/12/2024 13:45

@Notsure31 I’m on progesterone too, I take 400mg morning and night, I’m currently 9+1 and I’ve been on them since 5+2. I always lie down for 30 minutes after putting it in, however you’ll still get leakage in the first few hours after putting it in. Don’t worry though it’s completely normal, just make sure you wear a pad.

@Cosycore I’m struggling too, I’m 9+1 and have a private scan booked for 9+6 and I’m terrified. I’m almost tempted to cancel it as I’m so anxious.

@Moosey898 how are you getting on? X

Moosey898 · 28/12/2024 18:13

@Peachmelbaa I'm struggling, not going to lie. Had some pink ish discharge today and low symptoms and it's massively made me freak out. Next scan is on the 3rd, by my other scan I should be 9+4 then. I can't stop thinking it will be bad news again 😞 thank you for checking in, I really hope all goes well with your scan x

Notsure31 · 29/12/2024 12:19

Anyone had a scan from EPU at 6 weeks exactly? They booked me in for then based on my cycle as my EPU give early scans to women with recurrent miscarriage history. My scan is on the 4th Jan, pretty sure I ovulated on 07/12/24 as was ovulation testing, and I had a faint bfp on 16/12/24. I’m a bit worried if implantation was a day or two late they may not be able to see and ask me to come back in a week? I’d rather not have that anxious week wait, this happened with one of my previous pregnancies which turned out to be a blighted ovum.

I had a private scan bang on 6 weeks and they wanted me to come back 2 weeks after that as well

Peachmelbaa · 30/12/2024 19:06

@Moosey898 sorry to hear you’ve been spotting, I’ve had some spotting too which was red then brown. I was able to get a scan today with the NHS and baby was fine with a heartbeat and we even saw its foot wriggling! Measuring 9 weeks so I’ve caught up from measuring 5 days behind to measuring 3 days behind now. The sonographer found a tiny spot the size of a thumbnail which could be a small bleed but it’s nowhere near the baby or the spotting could just be from my cervix being irritated from the progesterone pessaries as I do have a cervical erosion. I really hope it’s good news for you too on Friday 🤞 I did unhealthy amounts of googling today about spotting around this gestation and I found a lot of positive stories x

I had my scan at 7 and a half weeks in the rainbow room associated with the epu. My scan unfortunately wasn't reassuring and had a 2 week wait for a rescan and then a 3rd scan a week after that at the actual epu to confirm miscarriage. Through our that time I was signed off sick with pregnancy symptoms so I would have rathered they scanned me earlier and moved me through the triaging a bit quicker.

I think what's right for you is personal to you. If being scanned at 6w4+ days or 7 weeks would be less stressful I'd ask for that? These scans are about offering you reassurance and helping you manage the uncertainty of early pregnancy. If what's on offer you feel wouldn't do that and wait a few extra days so that you would still see something comforting if you did conceive a few days later than predicted I would ask for that.

Good luck x

Moosey898 · 30/12/2024 20:41

Thanks @Peachmelbaa - I don't think the scan anxiety will ever go away after MMCs to be honest! Just have to get through it, no matter what the outcome. If it's bad news I'm going to go for surgical management again.
I'm so glad you had a good scan - is your next one now your 12 week scan?

Blownaway23456 · 31/12/2024 00:25

I haven't been on this thread for ages but wanted to share that I had my baby a few weeks ago. I had three miscarriages back to back before her, was on the waiting list for the recurrent miscarriage clinic and really didn't think I would end up with a baby at the end of everything. I had an emergency c section and was recently seen by the consultant I had been waiting to see for the recurrent miscarriages see me the other day for a postpartum infection, which felt strangely full circle! We have had a bumpy road but thankfully both doing well now. This thread bought me a lot of comfort in the early days when I had questions about medication etc. so I wanted to share!

Orlahoping · 02/01/2025 10:13

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm popping back on to say that my little rainbow boy, Rowan, arrived via c-section on 19th December. It's not been plain sailing so far but he's perfect.

Sending love and solidarity to those still in the trenches.

Fletchasketch · 02/01/2025 10:35

Such lovely news. Congratulations to the new mums, @Blownaway23456 and @Orlahoping . I hope you and your new arrivals are doing well. Wishing everyone else healthy babies in 2025.

Cosycore · 02/01/2025 13:13

Congrats @Orlahoping

im currently just counting down til I get my viability scan. I’ve had some brown discharge which is freaking me out but just trying to keep my head sensible

Moosey898 · 02/01/2025 13:27

Congratulations @Orlahoping

I've got my next EPU scan tomorrow. Should be between 9w3d and 10w. All my miscarriages have been missed miscarriages so I'm suitably terrified.

Aw me too Moosey. It’s so hard. I was tempted to get a scan about 6 weeks but my experience with EPU and their horrible treatment made me not want to. So just trying to wait patiently. Trying to keep busy.
