Happy new year everyone!

@CSSL7 how exciting, I can't wait to find out the gender!

Has anyone else been getting really bad headaches? How was everyone's Christmas?

Moneyworrier123 · 01/01/2025 10:36

I just came on Mumsnet to wish everyone here a Happy New Year and what a 2025 we have ahead. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
Other than suffering with a post-Christmas cold (which has brought with it some terrible headaches @JamTartLover) I’m doing ok. Starting to get achy & slower but mostly feel myself. How about everyone else?
@CSSL7 I’m so excited for you that you found out you’re having a girl! Did you go for an earlier scan privately to find out? Our 20 week scan is beginning of February and I can’t wait to find out!
We had all the testing done for Down syndrome etc which came back low risk. Next step for us is the 16 week midwife appointment which is coming up in a couple of weeks.

JamTartLover · 01/01/2025 11:49

@Moneyworrier123 I had a cold over Christmas too (which is very annoying as my birthday is also over this period!)

My 16 week appt is on Saturday this week and my 20 week appt is first week of Feb too.

My morning sickness has come back but not as bad as it was before (thankfully!) I can see the bump now which is really exciting as it makes the pregnancy feel so real!

Sorry that your morning sickness has come back, it’s so unfair! Hope it doesn’t last much longer.
My bump is showing too, I’m finding it so exciting!!

Happy new year everyone!

@CSSL7 how exciting, I can't wait to find out the gender!

Has anyone else been getting really bad headaches? How was everyone's Christmas?

I have had about five really bad headaches over the last month id say. I’ve found that a bath, and in bed with a cold wet flannel helps. One was so bad I took paracetamol which helped but I just hadn’t wanted to take any pain killers early on but all is well.

they are so painful!

Eeeek it really is such an exciting day and I feel like it makes it more real and I can imagine her more! And so much easier to buy! Haha.

we did private scan at 16 weeks to find out. Our 20 week is 22nd Jan. can’t wait already.

OP posts:
JamTartLover · 02/01/2025 13:13

@CSSL7 - I don't know how people wait to find out, I'm counting down the days until the first week of Feb!

I feel the same way about painkillers but had to use paracetamol once as I also had a cold and just couldn't ignore it!

Moneyworrier123 · 02/01/2025 14:15

I’ve had to take paracetamol a fair bit over the last few days and am a bit concerned but the NHS website says it’s ok.
Yes I actually can’t wait to know the gender @CSSL7 - like you said, you can imagine her now! I’m still unable to really because I don’t know who they are yet, plus I keep looking at all the cute baby clothes and want to buy them. Tempted by a private scan…

JamTartLover · 02/01/2025 16:59

@moneyworrier123 @CSSL7 - I was definitely tempted and looking at private scans earlier but I think I'm going to wait until the NHS scan!

Hey everyone! Wondered if anyone had started thinking about buying some bits yet? When shopping today we just had a browse and I just left feeling very overwhelmed with all the choices and options and everything there is to buy.
Also, is anyone planning on doing NCT?

Ooo what’s NCT?

I’ve got soooooo many clothes already. Literally too many! I can’t help myself!

and I got a Moses basket and cot off FB marketplace. We need to go and test out prams and find mattresses.

NCT is antenatal classes. I’ve been told they’re quite good for meeting new friends who are in the same stage of baby but that you do have to take some of what they teach you with a pinch of salt.
Ah well done on the bits you’ve bought!! I’m struggling with what to get like do I go short sleeve / long sleeve etc. Need to do some research.
We do have a Moses basket but that’s all we have! Prams scared us at the weekend 😂

JamTartLover · 07/01/2025 19:49

I had my 16 week scan last week and I got to hear the heartbeat which sounded so strong thankfully!

I haven't bought anything yet, I did look at prams but there are so many different options!

I've finally told my colleagues at work too who were really happy for me so that's a weight lifted!

AnotherDelphinium · 15/01/2025 16:10

I’ve not bought anything yet, although next month I’m visiting a friend and she’s passing on a next-to-me cot and a swinging seat. We’ve started to get lists of what we’d like for everything else, I’m really keen on second hand as somethings are ridiculously expensive new! I’ve not got any clothes yet for baby, just a couple of maternity bits for me.

We’re signed up to Happy Baby classes in April, they seem quite social and friendly which is mainly why I’m going, although I’m also tempted by some hypnobirthing classes.

Moneyworrier123 · 20/01/2025 18:50

Hi everyone 👋 hope you’re all well! @JamTartLover lovely to hear that your colleagues were happy for you! @AnotherDelphinium i agree with you on second hand, I really don’t see the need for everything new so am buying second hand where possible. Where I live there are some second hand baby markets so I’ve signed up to a few of them over the coming months!
I’m really starting to have a bigger bump now that actually looks like pregnant bump not just bloat, and it’s so exciting. However it comes with feeling a lot more uncomfortable overall. Anyway, I can’t wait until my 20 week scan in February.
Hope you are all doing well 💕

JamTartLover · 21/01/2025 13:37

Hi everyone, I hope everyone's pregnancy is going well!

Is anyone feeling any movement/flutters/bubbles yet?

I’m sure over the last couple of days that I’ve felt a few little flutters! How about you @JamTartLover ?

CSSL7 · 22/01/2025 16:46

Hi everyone!! ive had flutters for about two weeks now and full on movements over the last few days. Really obvious movements opposed to like “is this just gas?” LOL.

just had our anomaly scan too and everything was Perfect so feel relieved and like I can start buying now!!

hope everyone else’s scans go ok!

Fantastic news, so pleased your scan went well! Couple of weeks to wait for mine still, time is going so slow at the same time as going fast if that makes sense!
So exciting you can start to buy things!

JamTartLover · 22/01/2025 21:25

@CSSL7 - I'm glad your scan went well!

I'm waiting for my scan before I start buying things too! I still have a couple of weeks to go before mine!

@Moneyworrier123 I've definitely felt flutters, the other morning I was starving and could feel the flutters. It makes it feel so real!

I'm starting to really show now. I'm convinced I'm having a girl just based on the old wives tales!

Hi, I would love to hear about fertility supplements that people in late 30/early 40 found good? I was taking wild nutrition and it seemed good but kept seeing Naitre advertised and thought it may be better. However, I am finding the taste pretty bad. I have 2 weeks of it and it is pretty expensive so want to use it. Just wondering if anyone found something to mix it with that made it better?

I use it and I mix it in a smoothie every morning!! Can barely taste it. I will say though, the taste changes with pretty much every sachet and it’s cuz the flavour is natural and so because fruit doesn’t taste the same everytime that’s why the taste is sometimes nice and sometimes not as nice lol. But yes I did a smoothie every morning and could barely taste!
