Hi everyone!

How is everyone doing, especially in this hot weather!

I can't believe how close the due date is now!

Has anyone's due date passed?

Gooseygander555 · 15/06/2025 12:30

Still waiting! Still having lots of period pains, they sort of start sharp, last about 30seconds and then taper off. So not what I think contractions would be like, they’re not getting any stronger but are quite painful and my stomach is tight. Im hoping this is things really getting ready but it’s been a few days of this now. Annoyingly happen a lot in the night so not sleeping very well.
hope everyone is doing well!

JamTartLover · 15/06/2025 13:00

@Gooseygander555 I had pains this morning but no contractions with the pain so I'm taking things as they go!

Im due at the end of this week so I'm hoping that I don't go too overdue!

Nope2024 · 15/06/2025 15:11

@JamTartLover I am absolutely done with this weather. I feel like I'm melting. 🫠

I have a week to go and still trying to mentally process the fact I won't be in work for a year 😳 so don't think my body has fully registered that I'm actually going to have a baby yet. 😂

I had a cup of raspberry leaf tea last night and it was disgusting (had trouble keeping it down, even with sugar!) but will persevere because literally everyone has told me it will make second stage of labour easier.

How long do you have left to go?

@Gooseygander555 must be annoying that they're happening at night! I've put a maternity mattress protector pad thing down under the bedsheet today just in case my waters break, but I haven't had any pains or anything - certainly not period pains! So maybe I am aaaaaages away yet.

My biggest pregnancy symptom is still being in a foul mood about how muggy the weather is and getting up 2916538 times in the night for a week. 🙄 Looking forward to not having to negotiate the bloody pregnancy pillow + bump to go for a week in the middle of the night.

Did have a little sob last night because I really wanted to go on a big hike and have a pub lunch with a pint in the sunshine. And then another little sob about how small baby carrots are (!). So I think I'm close to madness now...it's going to be a long wait. 🥲

Gooseygander555 · 15/06/2025 18:55

@JamTartLoverI can’t decide if these are like mini contractions or something else. Not sure what the difference would be - any ideas?!

@Nope2024 I also have those bed pads on! I haven’t been trying any of the “labour inducing” things, except for dates which have been shown to help soften the cervix.
And sorry to hear you’re a bit all over - I did have to laugh at you crying over carrots though, bless! Hormones are wild!

Moneyworrier123 · 15/06/2025 18:59

Hi everyone! @JamTartLover I’m also getting sort of braxton hicks pains, I know it’s not normal movements because my whole tummy goes really hard but I know she’s head down and usually one side (opposite to her bum) is squishy! Had quite a few today. Still a couple of weeks from my due date though.
I sympathise with you on the horrible muggy heat @Nope2024 , it’s awful. I’m worried how hot the hospitals will be and also what to dress a newborn in at this temp!
Ive not done much to try and induce things, I did do a bit of kerb walking but felt silly and I’ve attempted colostrum harvesting but haven’t made any progress there.
Hang on in there ladies, the end is in sight!

JamTartLover · 15/06/2025 20:09

@Gooseygander555 I have been checking Reddit to see what other women have experienced when their labour started. My sister said that she was in a lot of pain and then about 12 hours later, her waters broke.

I have been having dates too, hoping it will soften the cervix. I haven't tried raspberry leaf tea as I don't like herbal teas at all, but I have seen on Insta that people also mix it with pineapple juice (once it's been cooled).

@Moneyworrier123 I'm really worried about how hot the hospital will be. It looks like it will be about 30 degrees by the end of the week where I am. I've got a mini fan but not sure that will be enough!

I did express some milk and couple of days ago but only a drop or so. I need to start doing kerb walking but the midwife said the baby seems to be in the right position.

Good luck to everyone!

Gooseygander555 · 17/06/2025 11:18

@JamTartLoverive been trying to Google but can’t see anything quite like what mine are… I’m hoping it’s a practice run and things will kick off soon! Though that also scares me as they’re quite painful.
Also terrified of how hot the hospital will be. Have a little handheld fan but might ask partner to bring ice packs 😂

I managed to get some colostrum, need to do some more but it’s a slow process!!

CSSL7 · 17/06/2025 17:24

eeeek. Due date is tomorrow for us! Ive had period cramps for the last few weeks but then nothing. Gonna do curb walking tonight. I’m ok with the heat at the moment but I’m living like a goblin with curtains closed and the fan on. Our house gets so hot at night too so just got a gro egg for when baby is here. I can’t wait now!!

im planning on epidural ASAP!! and trying to avoid induction but the closer you get to due date the more you think you have to be induced 😭 hopefully she’ll come within the next week!

What’s everyone else’s due date?? Are you doing anything to induce Labour?

OP posts:
Gooseygander555 · 17/06/2025 17:33

Due date Friday! But I am the same as you - want epidural and also terrified of being induced, but basically already feel like I’m overdue for some reason!
I also got a grow egg, the room feels cool but it says it’s 22 and too hot… I’m going to try not stress about what the egg says as long as baby seems ok

JamTartLover · 17/06/2025 17:59

Im due on Friday too!

The heat is really worrying, especially for new borns. I imagine I'll be watching the baby like a hawk (assuming she arrives during the heatwave).

@CSSL7 Your due date is almost here! Here's hoping that your little one arrives tomorrow or shortly after so you're not overdue for too long 🤞👩‍🍼

Nope2024 · 17/06/2025 18:11

@CSSL7 Made me chuckle about being a goblin! Similar energy from me today. I've been awake since 4am and main achievement is that I don't seem to have evaporated yet. Contemplated filling our absolutely disgusting and ancient bath with cold water and just spending the day in that before I realised I wouldn't be able to get out of it by myself when I inevitably needed a wee. Also the thought of spending any more than 10 mins in our ancient and horrible bathroom is sure to eliminate any oxytocin I've been brewing. 😬

My due date is Monday and midwife told me at my appointment last week that I could have a sweep at my 40-week appointment. I'm really tempted to turn it down if everything else is okay - just because the NCT course highlighted that induced labours tend to need intervention and I don't fancy forceps. (Also there is a very small part of my brain that wonders if I waited a few days then the heatwave would be over. 😂 I think I'm hoping baby is like me and Just Not A Summer Person.)

I might try the raspberry leaf tea in pineapple juice - I keep throwing it back up which I think is another sign the baby doesn't want to come out just yet!! It tastes absolutely horrific.

Good luck to all of you this week! Hope your hospital has air con (I've heard some have - don't think mine does though 🥲).

narwhalsarereal · 18/06/2025 11:33

Hope all of you awaiting your babies are keeping well.

my daughter arrived last Monday after a failed induction via emergency c section, which I wasn’t aware was an emergency until after. Basically I asked for a section as I wasn’t progressing and they agreed, got me there within 2 hours of my request as baby’s movements had slowed and then as they were trying to find her heartbeat, they couldn’t. She was born not breathing but they got her breathing fairly quickly, although it felt like a lifetime. She was then rushed to nicu, I saw her as she was wheeled past at 4pm then 12 hours later I finally got to walk to nicu to see her for the first time properly.
she’s had an amazing cooling therapy to reduce the chances of any brain damage or any further brain damage and she’s just gone for her mri now to see what’s going on. She had a seizure last week but none since and she’s amazing the drs and nurses with her progress. I’m hoping to have her home next week.

It’s amazing to be a mum to her but I’ve been so robbed of her first few weeks and that newborn bubble, it hurts so much. But after this, myself and my partner have said no way will we have another as we are terrified of this happening again.

hope everyone has a safe arrival of their little ones

JamTartLover · 18/06/2025 14:28

@narwhalsarereal Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

Im sorry to hear about your experience! Hopefully your little girl can come home next week so you can spend more time with her in the peace and quiet of your own home!

Wishing and hoping for the best for you and your family 💕

Nope2024 · 20/06/2025 05:38

@narwhalsarereal that sounds terrifying! I hope everything works out for you ❤️

JamTartLover · 24/06/2025 12:18

Hi everyone, how are you all doing?

My due date was on Friday last week but my baby hadnt arrived yet. I'm trying to be patient but I am getting very irritable! I had a membrane sweep at my last appointment which didnt seem to do much so trying every other wives tail I can think of!

Has anyone had their babies yet?

Nope2024 · 24/06/2025 13:34

@JamTartLover Hope you find something that works!

I was due yesterday but no sign of baby yet. Midwife said at last appointment that I could have a sweep but saw a different midwife at appointment yesterday who said she wouldn't normally do one, so I didn't have one in the end. I'm bored out of my brain and absolutely knackered! No energy for nesting 😂

Nope2024 · 27/06/2025 07:45

Anyone else still just...waiting? 40+4 and no signs yet! 🥲 Also seen there's another heatwave on its way 😭

JamTartLover · 27/06/2025 21:08

@Nope2024 I'm 41+1 today and still waiting!

I did try expressing breast milk which started some stronger, more painful contractions so I'm going to continue with that.

Im going to be booked in for an induction too, in case the baby doesn't arrive within the next few days!

Not looking forward to the heatwave!

Have you tried any methods to induce labour?

CSSL7 · 01/07/2025 19:35

Hey guys, baby was born 40+3 _ she’s perfect.

i went into spontaneous labour and then because my back waters had gone but not front I had to have the front broken. I had an epidural asap as I wished and that meant I could have the hormone drip to get things progressing.

I pushed for an hour but she was back to back so we got rushed to emergency theatre for spinal tap, episiotomy and forceps. It really was fine. I felt nothing. Healing has been totally fine. I’m 9 days pp today.

breast feeding has gone amazing so far. She latched straight away and had no issues yet.

the heat has been scary but we’ve been totally fine!!! just curtains closed and fan on! Less layers.

has anyone else had baby???

Congratulations to you @CSSL7!! Thank you for sharing your birth story too, I’m glad it all went ok and you’re recovering well. Welcome to the world baby girl!
I am currently 40+4 and really fed up. I don’t think the heat is helping my mood. Need to try and cheer up as I know being happy helps get you into labour 😂 induction is booked for a week tomorrow so I’m praying she comes before then.
Hope everyone is doing well x

JamTartLover · 01/07/2025 23:00

Hi all,

I had my baby at 41+2. It was quite traumatic as I went into labour, went to the triage and was told that my contractions weren't strong enough (even though I was in agony!)

I refused to leave as I knew I was in active labour, which was confirmed by the midwife in charge. My waters hadn't broken so they were broken for me by the doctor but there was meconium in the water so had to have a c-section instead.

My baby is currently in the hospital with jaundice so just trying to get through day-by-day.

Congrats to @Moneyworrier123 and @CSSL7 ! Enjoy your time with your lovely babies!

@Nope2024 - have you had your baby yet?

Ooo we had meconium too but they just monitored her.

also we had to go back to hospital day 3 for jaundice treatment! Such a stupid treatment for newborns esp when breastfeeding. Hated the mask. She was under for 8-9 hours and levels dropped quite a bit. She’s deffo still a bit jaundice now but hoping it leaves by next week otherwise apparently they go in for more tests 😭 but she seems totally fine and feeding well so midwife seems confident

Glad your little one is here but sorry to hear it wasn't straightforward! ❤️

My little one made an appearance at 40+6. I had a sweep about 11am and went into triage at around 1:30am, baby born at 16;40. My waters didn't break and I didn't lose my mucus plug, so I actually just thought I had bad backache and my husband was being dramatic 😂 Eventually had my waters broken for me at 8cm dilated because they were just bulging, Things got a bit real after that!!

Up with cluster feeding rn and losing my mind! How do people do this and still function?!!?! The crying is horrendous 😢

JamTartLover · 03/07/2025 13:41

@CSSL7 The eye mask is like a torture devise! My baby hated it and I hated having to put it on her. I think she had to wear it for about three days!

@Nope2024 I wasn't prepared for the back pain, it was horrendous!

The night feeds are worse because my baby is so hungry and impatient! My boob's are really full and leaky as well so Im hoping that will sort itself out!
