Baby thread!!

Thanks for setting up @CluelessInLondon

WeightoftheWorld · 25/09/2024 08:01

Thank you! 😊

Bee49 · 25/09/2024 08:08

@WeightoftheWorld ah maybe that was it. I lost 3L so that’s probably why they said there might be a delay in milk.

Baby thread!!

Thanks for setting up @CluelessInLondon

Crazy! Baby thread!

I have my baby shower this weekend. Well it's more of a sprinkle. I'm looking forward to having a baby-centric afternoon tea with friends.

We're nearly there ladies!!!!

CluelessInLondon · 25/09/2024 08:14

@Oct24 Have a lovely time! 😊

I've been awake on and off since 3.30 this morning with Braxton Hicks - I am so tired. 😖 Wondered at first if it was labour starting but I don't think it is, it's just really uncomfortable and every time I lay down to try and get back to sleep they got worse and I had to get back up again.

LuxeBiscuit · 25/09/2024 08:33

@CluelessInLondon Are you sure it's not early labour if they're getting worse? It might be worth timing them.

CluelessInLondon · 25/09/2024 08:44

@LuxeBiscuit I think I've been getting about 4 an hour although it's a bit difficult to know for certain as I was trying to sleep through them for a while. They haven't got any more frequent since I gave up trying to sleep and got out of bed though, and they're very low down in my abdomen like a period pain rather than higher up which is where I think I would be feeling labour contractions. No sign of anything else either - waters haven't gone, no mucus plug/bloody show so I think it's just my body having a bit of a test run!

@CluelessInLondon How are you getting on? Have things settled down?

LuxeBiscuit · 25/09/2024 12:03

@CluelessInLondon even if it's not today it sounds as though your baby might be here soon - exciting!

The midwife at the antenatal class said early labour could last for up to 3 days but hopefully you have a shorter time.

CluelessInLondon · 25/09/2024 12:22

@Oct24 Thanks for checking in! Still having some contractions but very irregular - moving around seems to bring them on, which runs counter to all the advice about keeping active during early labour to make it more manageable (another thing that makes me think this might not be it!). I'm taking the opportunity to practice some of the breathing techniques from my hypnobirthing course though, and I decided to give my daily perineal massage a miss this morning as I thought it would be a bit uncomfortable. 😬

@LuxeBiscuit I am really hoping I don't spend 3 days in early labour! I have to keep reminding my husband that if this is it, or whenever it does start, it might go on for a while - he's already wanting to call the hospital even though I'm sure they would just tell me to monitor things for now.

My money is on this is the start. Surely it would have settled down by now if it was all just a practice run? When's your actual due date?

Thinking of you! Keep us posted!!!! X

Sara1988 · 25/09/2024 12:30

Keep us updated @CluelessInLondon when is your due date?

I am so sick of being pregnant. Just full on sobbed for half an hour.

CluelessInLondon · 25/09/2024 13:01

@Oct24 @Sara1988 My due date is Saturday so it's soon - although I had just been working on the assumption that as 85% of babies arrive after their due date, mine would be one of them! Will let you know how things go.

@Sara1988 I definitely think the hormones hit hard at this late stage - just remember, you have literally spent the last few months growing a human, there isn't too long to go and you're doing great. ❤

@CluelessInLondon We went through episiotomy and tearing at my antenatal class yesterday. I'd get in there with one last perianal massage if I were you. Maybe a bath to soften things up as well lol

Good luck.

How is everyone getting on with their colostrum collecting? I think I've finally mastered a technique that works for me. I got 2ml today! 1ml this morning and 1ml this evening. My husband joked that I'm batching cooking for everyone. I made and frozen 22 meatballs today and a meal for the baby. LOL

sorchanim · 25/09/2024 14:48

I've been a long time lurker on the September 2024 babies as my due date was yesterday. Baby is not showing any signs of moving yet and it's possible I'll have an October baby so I'm just joining in the fun here!
I'm living in Europe and have the most amazing team of independent midwives who are happy to deliver at home or in a birthing suite at the hospital (but they don't work at that hospital, they just use that space for deliveries). It's a gorgeous setup and I really hope I get to birth with them and not be induced later in October, but let's see!

Hope everyone is doing well! ❤

Isn't happening for me! What method have you used?

This is how it started with my first! Contractions at night time that would ease off during the day…they went on for 5 days!! I’d say you’re very close!

WeightoftheWorld · 25/09/2024 20:56

@mylittleitalianhome yes, I had sort of a similar experience with DC2. I had like mild period pain type cramps many evenings for a week or two before labour properly started. They weren't clear contractions though, more like achey period pain and not bad enough to interfere with sleep or anything.

Had my 36 week appt and so relieved that baby has moved to properly head down (from an oblique position) in the past fortnight. Now just hope they stay that way! I should have a scan within the next fortnight or so anyway though so I can get reassurance from that too I hope. Wish they would move from being back to back though but I don't think that is going to happen before labour now.

Got fitted for my nursing bras today. Feeling very real now!

rachisamumtobe · 25/09/2024 22:09

@Oct24 have a lovely time! I had the same thing; afternoon tea. Everyone enjoyed it! X

rachisamumtobe · 25/09/2024 22:09

@CluelessInLondon thanks for setting up! Not long now for us all

spudnik1 · 26/09/2024 04:12

@CluelessInLondon, how are you getting on?

Well, today is the day for me. C-section day, I am in at 10am🫣
I'm really nervous. I just had some porridge before the fast starts.

I remember the pain afterwards from my emergency one last time. Although everyone has assured me that a planned one is much easier. Fingers crossed it's the case.

Oct24 · 26/09/2024 06:44

Good luck @spudnik1!

Hope is goes smoothly and enjoy those first few newborn cuddles! Xx
