I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

❤️❤️

@Beckatha pretty much the same but no symptoms that strong yet! I had insomnia last time so I am hoping that doesn't creep back in x

@Flick89 I think I might look into a labour class for techniques as I panicked last time. I've got scan booked for 19th September so I'll be 8 weeks by then. I'm tempted for an earlier one but I keep saying it's just 2 and a half weeks away now...what about you? Have you booked one? X

@Flick89 I was so sure I was having a boy last time and I have a girl. I'll be happy with either sex but won't be finding out x

Hello, joining this thread as I had a BFP at the weekend. EDD is 8th of May. Booked a viability scan for 19th of September. Not many symptoms except tiredness. Had insomnia with my son but I feel that it was from 2nd trimester.
Anybody will book a NIPT test?

Beckatha · 01/09/2024 17:47

I've had some mild spotting today for the first time since the implantation bleeding last week, prior to me testing positive. It's thrown me a bit and I'm worrying despite knowing it's common, I hate the anxiety!
It was minimal, and any cramping I get is very mild, but yeah. The early days stress is worse than I expected!

Flick89 · 01/09/2024 17:47

Hi @BrodieKD and @Loute02 , I want to book a scan and the NIPT soon- just doing some research first. Congratulations btw @Loute02 !

@BrodieKD , I might have a surprise this time actually too.

Loute02 · 01/09/2024 17:52

Thanks @Flick89 ! I'm doing some research as well as I don't really understand if I can go somewhere and they do a blood test there or if I have to send the vials somewhere? I don't think they offer it on the nhs

BrodieKD · 01/09/2024 18:19

@Loute02 hello! My early scan is on 19th September too and suffered with insomnia with my last pregnancy too. What actually is the NIPT test? X

@Flick89 I can see pros and cons with both but I really loved having a surprise last time 🥰 my oh was the one to tell me that it was a little girl and it was genuinely like a moment out of a movie x

@Beckatha it's such a worry isn't it?! I had implantation bleeding with my last pregnancy and none this time which has also made me worry that the egg hadn't implanted!! I also had a bleed at 7 weeks last time too x

If it’s offered on the NHS, I believe it’s due to higher odds of having a baby with one of the trisomies at the 12 week scan/blood test. I imagine it’s also offered if there was a certain result or diagnosis in a previous pregnancy but I’m not sure. Maybe not.

Where I’ve looked in London, you go to a private clinic to have a blood test then they take a few days to get back to you. Some come with a scan, some don’t I have heard. But my knowledge of it is still very basic.

Maybe you’ve convinced me to wait! Sounds really special. 🥰

Aww total empathy with the constant anxiety. It is always listed as an early symptom so hopefully that will help slightly.

SweatyMama22 · 01/09/2024 18:34

@Flick89 Hi! I am constantly comparing and wondering if it means I'm having a girl or boy. I had a girl last time, and although very early this pregnancy is feeling different so I'm wondering if it's a boy. I'm really tempted to get one of these at home blood tests you send off to find out at 6 weeks 🙈 I'm so impatient.

@Loute02 congratulations and welcome! I didn't have an NIPT last time and I don't think I will do this time. I'm happy with the standard screening tests through the NHS. If you come up as high risk in the standard screening then the NHS offer the NIPT. But I completely understand why some people would want to pay for one for peace of mind.

@Beckatha spotting is fairly common, but it is really scary no matter how many people tell you that! The anxiety is unreal at this stage.

Hi everyone, joining as I had positives across the weekend, clear blue says 1-2 weeks so I'm estimating my due date at around middle of May☺️

Niftyowl · 01/09/2024 19:41

Hello everyone! Joining due 9th may!
Had a MMC in February so very nervous but I do have 2 little boys to keep me busy!

BrodieKD · 01/09/2024 20:33

@Niftyowl @1441x congratulations! Welcome to the group!

Thanks all for the warm welcome 🤗
I had the usual scan from the NHS during last pregnancy for the trisomy screening but I don't know why I'm feeling more anxious this time around so probably will end up paying for a private NIPT test.
I definitely want to know the sex. I admire your strength in maybe letting it be a surprise @BrodieKD and @Flick89 😆

Hi all, can I join?

Got my BFP on Friday and estimated due date is the 14th of May.

I had a chemical pregnancy in September last year and a MMC at 10 weeks in May this year, so feeling really anxious but praying for a sticky baby 🤞🏼

Congratulations to you all on your pregnancies! ✨x

Beckatha · 02/09/2024 08:01

@Flick89 @SweatyMama22 Yeah, it was just being teamed with more intense cramping than I've had before that concerned me. Just cramping or just spotting on its own probably wouldn't have made me fear the worst. Crossing my fingers. This morning there's no more bloody or cramps... have dropped my GP a message about it tho incase. Hopefully it was just stretching/growing pains but not sure how common they are this early!

Also, hello to a fellow 89 baby haha @Flick89 May is actually my month of birth too, but at the end and this one's due at the start :)

Beckatha · 02/09/2024 08:25

@BrodieKD Oh interesting that you had a bleed at 7 weeks, I've just turned 5... it's reassuring that people bleed during pregnancy and it's fine... think it was just the cramps getting worse that were my main concern. No more spotting in sight tho.

Bit of a longshot but are any of you Mum's to be in the East Midlands? I'm DE56

ooh I thought scans were at 12 weeks? Didnt know we could have them at 8 :) I've got my first midwife appointment on the 18th as they said I need to be at least 7 weeks and I'll be 7 and a half then..

1441x · 02/09/2024 09:22

Thank you for the welcome. Just reading back on some previous posts, I have been taking Folate as opposed to folic acid as your body absorbs it better and quicker in raw form, I took seven seas with my first and he had a sacred dimple and tongue tie which someone suggested could have been from my body not absorbing enough folic acid so i switched it around this time. I'm also taking Omega3, D3, C and a probiotic.
I had NIPT with my first but don't remember being offered an option or asking for it, I assumed it was just part of the 12W appointment so I'd probably have it again this time. We had a letter with the results about 2 weeks after appointment

That’s lovely you’ll be able to combine birthday plans! Hopefully your cramps and bleeding don’t return and the GP will provide reassurance.
