I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

our Early scan last time was at 15 weeks and the lady was certain it was a girl everytime I had a scan I kept asking is she still a girl 😂

I want an early scan again but I can only go at 15 weeks exactly otherwise I’m going to have to wait as my husband is having surgery.

The place I went to do it from 15 weeks, I know they have loads of branches around the UK, It's lovely having the 4D sneak peek as well, you get those images for free also x

I had a NIPT test at 13 weeks which revealed to us we're having a girl, however I do have a private scan booked next week at 16+3 which I will ask to double check - although am I right in thinking NIPT is really accurate for gender?!

I'm also feeling anxious about the scan even though all of my scans so far have been great and no bad symptoms.. anyone else the same?!

Hope everyone's ok otherwise! Seen a few of the headache messages, I've been getting headaches on and off too but put it down to being tired/staring at the computer all day 😂 Xx

Ahh a girl that's lovely! Congratulations!
Yes I was the same with feeling anxious, but then when you see the scan it sort of goes away for me... Until the next scan😂
Yeah the headaches are awful, I had to have days off work as my job also consists of staring at a computer all day x

rosecbrm · 21/11/2024 10:15

@ThatGladSwan thanks lovely, I'm the same after a scan! It's so hard isn't it 😂

Are you office based or remote? I'm really lucky I'm fully remote and super flexible so it's easy to sneak off for a bit and just make the time up if I'm feeling rubbish! X

I'm office based, I work for a big recruitment company and they are so against flexible/ hybrid working which I have found tough especially when I had severe sickness and now the headaches. I work in a smaller office though and my colleagues just say get yourself home we won't mention it😂
I bet being remote has really helped you during pregnancy though! I think companies should offer it more if I'm honest x

rosecbrm · 21/11/2024 10:22

@ThatGladSwan I bet that's a pain, my old company were the same and in the end it's why I left, especially after Covid I think a lot of people want the option!

Glad your office are good about it though! It's been amazing tbh, I've always preferred WFH as I am so much more productive and also allows you to have a bit more free time I find. X

Yeah I can imagine WFH has been a godsend! I work in the city centre as well so its somewhat of a commute in the morning and evenings which makes me anxious being pregnant, especially when its rainy and icy😂x

rosecbrm · 21/11/2024 10:28

@ThatGladSwan oh gosh yeah I bet! Hopefully the further on you get they may become more lenient about WFH?! X

I hope so😂It's just annoying as I cant really look elsewhere that does more flexible working as they won't take someone who will be going on MAT leave soon, so I'm just going to stick it out x

rosecbrm · 21/11/2024 11:12

@ThatGladSwan defo makes sense! Hopefully it gets better lovely! Just keep thinking in a few months you'll be off anyway 🤣

Out of interest with that, when is everyone thinking about starting their mat leave? X

I went right down to the wire last time, logged off on Friday, monday was a bank holiday and then I went to be induced on Wednesday.

I think this time with having a toddler in the house I'd like a week or 2 at home but we'll see. I was very grateful for the time I had with the baby when I was on mat leave.

It's tricky!

I think I'll be 38+1 on Good Friday, so timings wise it will make sense to finish the day before. But I'd already had my DD by then so who knows!

narns · 21/11/2024 15:06

WFH has been a godsend but it's worked out for my employer because if I was office based I'd have been signed off for weeks during the first trimester! No way could I have gone in and sat in an open plan office when I was vomiting all day. Much easier to cope with that at home!

I think my last working day will be the 17 April. Will probably use annual leave and officially start maternity leave on the 13 May. Baby is due on the 16th May.

With my DD I started with first contractions on my last afternoon at work. Logged off and she was born on the Sunday morning! Almost 3 weeks early. So this time, I want to make sure I finish at least 3 weeks before I'm due just in case they come early again!

Beccaa123 · 22/11/2024 11:35

Does anyone else get short sharp twinges on one side of their stomach?
They don't happen very often & aren't painful, just a surprise when they happen

rosecbrm · 22/11/2024 12:01

@Beccaa123 yes I do every now and then lovely, think it's round ligament pain x

rosecbrm · 22/11/2024 12:02

@narns @LeBonBon @TheBeesKnee sounds a good time for you all!

I'm thinking potentially towards the end of April, due 12th May but will have some annual leave to use beforehand!

Thanks, in that case I have two different pains 😂
I thought the other one I had was round ligament pain and it's more along my hip bone.
This one is in my stomach, strange but I would describe it as up and down rather than across

narns · 22/11/2024 12:08

@Beccaa123 I agree with @rosecbrm it sounds like round ligament pain. I had it quite badly in my last pregnancy and it started early in the second trimester! I haven't had any yet so hoping that I'll avoid some of it because the ligaments have been stretched already. Overall I've had a lot less crampy/stretching pains this time than with DD.

@rosecbrm it's hard to figure out the best time for finishing work isn't it! My mum said to me yesterday "oh this baby might not come as early" and then I thought oh bloody hell I don't fancy sitting around for weeks on end. I'm counting on them coming early May 😂 will have to do lots of scrubbing of kitchen floors...

narns · 22/11/2024 12:10

@Kimlpool @fingerscrossedmumma how are you both getting on? X

Hey! Thanks for the tag - was just reading about everyone's experience of round ligament pain and feeling a sigh of relief as I've been cramping for days!

Up and down - this limbo between my NIPT results and amnio appointment is genuinely the most traumatic thing that's ever happened to me. If positive we decided we would TFMR so it's a horrible horrible waiting game as I hold onto the 1% chance it's good news!

But otherwise I'm ok... off work for my mental health and playing a lot of games on my switch!

rosecbrm · 22/11/2024 12:16

@narns defo get that! This is my first too so fully anticipating she may be late, it's difficult to work out 😂

@fingerscrossedmumma I can't imagine how tough the wait must be! Hopefully you'll receive good news and can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Sounds good to keep your mind occupied! I am also a switch player but strangely have hardly played recently - I defo need to 😂

littlestrawberryhat · 22/11/2024 14:17

just wondering how much weight people have gained so far? I’m almost 18 weeks now- (scan put me ahead a week so I’m due end of April) and I’ve gained so much more than I did with my first (a boy). Struggling a bit with the loss of control as I used to run a lot but just not feeling it whilst pregnant.

Cause more harm? Do you mean to the baby? Or anxiety wise?

Hi I'm just catching up with the chat it's been a while. My sister is a midwife and brought her doppler over for me to hear baby and when she first put it on I thought oh that was quick As heard it straight away but she said that's not the heartbeat it was the placenta. It sounded so alike. She explained this is why they are really dangerous women feel worried and so use a Doppler instead of seeking a midwife help then hear something like the placenta and think baby is safe when they actually may be in distress etc. x
