Kicking off with a reply to @apple67cherry who posted at the end of the last thread. I can't actually see a nub on your scans at all, so could the angle just be hiding it? On the other hand, we've already established that I have no idea about any of this 😂

So glad to hear that the scan went well. Your pictures are great! It's amazing how they're gradually developing into proper little people, isn't it? x

@apple67cherry I can't see a nub at all (joining the others who have trouble interpreting an ultrasound - when the sonographer was showing me my ovaries all I could see was grey static 🤷) but I do see a cute little wave of the hand!

UrbanSquirrel · 06/08/2024 16:43

@QuantumPanic @apple67cherry Yes, it's a rather regal wave, isn't it, Quantum? 😁

baby was SO wriggly to get pictures haha. Breach for majority of scan until I was told to shake my hips, after 5 mins of baby being stubborn we finally got them to roll over lol. I will add the full pictures x

@apple67cherry I have been scouring nub theory stuff since I got back from my scan yesterday but can't see a nub on yours! I think mine is defo a boy 😂 if anyone is more experienced than me I'd also welcome thoughts! Looks like a clear nub in one and not really in the other but I think it's a little blurred

@Piluka I was so sorry to hear about your unsettling news on the other thread. Hopefully you will get clarity very soon, and I hope it is positive news. Sending lots of love in the meantime, and do keep us posted. It's strange to hear that the NT measurements were fine but the blood test threw up queries...

Keeping fingers very much crossed for you xxx

And also, @Piluka, making you wait until the 22nd to have the amnio done sounds an awfully long way away. I'm so sorry. I hope we can do our best here to keep your spirits up in the meantime xxx

Hey ladies. Is anyone else suffering with fainting/dizziness? I'm 13w4d and for the past 2 weeks I'd say, at least twice a week I faint and or get dizzy. Everything on the NHS app says it's normal so I'm not worried. It's mainly annoying (and embarrassing as I fainted at work today!) if anyone else is suffering any tips? I have bought glucose tablets to try and help but sometimes I'm too late haha

Tulipwood · 06/08/2024 17:55

@piluka I haven’t had an amino but I did have a CVS with my first pregnancy due to a raised NT measurement. A CVS is were a sample of the placenta is taken vs an amino when it’s a sample of the amniotic fluid.

The fetal medicine doctors and midwives are all so lovely and kind and will hopefully explain everything to you on the day.

For the CVS they scanned me whilst they did the procedure and then afterwards so I could see the baby was okay. I got results back for downs, T18 and pataus within 3 days and then they did an in depth look at every chromosome which took about 10 days.

It was all good for us and the have a healthy 2.5 year old now.

Also just to say you don’t have to have the procedure. You could opt for an NIPT, but an amino will give you a yes no answer vs the NIPT which is a risk chance.

Happy to answer any questions on any of it if you have them x

Yes I totally get boy vibes from yours! I'm feeling little girl with mine. I think I MAY see something. Could be wrong lol . In this picture I feel like I see a little horizontal nub

@Odessa1 I don't have any advice but just wanted to offer my sympathy as that sounds rather irritating. The only thing I can think of, apart from glucose, is iron levels - have your blood tests thrown up any variance on those? (Maybe bring it up with your midwife next time you see her as she is likely to be far more helpful!) 😁 x

@UrbanSquirrel many thanks for your words. Apparently, they mention that at my age group they look for a pattern in your Hhg, NT and Papp numbers and I tick the box for DS with the pattern (it's high hCG and NT compared to the average, but that doesn't mean it's abnormal perse. And low PAPP-A) because of this and my age I was a high risk. I hope I explained myself properly and clearly enough.

@Tulipwood thanks for the explanation. The team has been absolutely lovely and the midwife went through all everything. We wanted to have an NIPT initially (as they could do it right there) but as you said the answer was not YES/NO and honestly I'd be better knowing an absolute answer rather than spend 6 months being restless wondering what if.

I felt the same way about the yes/no answer which is why we went down that route too.

Honestly you are in the best hands and in some ways it’s kinda of conformity g to know the DNA makeup of your baby before they are born! You do have the option to find out the gender too, as they run checks for gender specific chromosomal abnormalities.

Good luck with it, I’ll be sending positive vibes your way.

Redapple21 · 06/08/2024 19:09

Hi all, scan went well, sonographer was lovely. Just one baby in there, after my dream that there would be three!
Anyway I was measuring 13w6d and baby was slightly too big for combined screening. I did think my scan was booked late! Sonographer said they can offer me a quad test which only checks for downs. So i will have that but I'm a bit upset as I don't think it's as reliable as the combined test and only checks for downs. Considering paying for NIPT.

@Piluka so sorry to hear how worried you are. A few ladies on the fb page had the same call and had the NIPT which came back low risk. Sending love to you xx

@apple67cherry yeah I see what you mean about a wee horizontal nub ! I've booked a gender scan for a few weeks time - can't wait!

superj21 · 07/08/2024 06:51

@Redapple21 another lovely scan pic 😊 frustrating about it being too late for the combined screening though. Will they not offer you the NIPT?

herewegoagain123456 · 07/08/2024 07:19

Wow another thread! 🤣

All these scans are making me excited and nervous for mine. My symptoms have calmed down alot now which not sure if that's good or not.

What's the latest you can be for the combined results? As I think I'm going to be 13 weeks by the time I get my scan with the NHS.
I do have a private one on Sunday, will they check anything then does anyone know?

Redapple21 · 07/08/2024 07:24

@superj21 thank you! So she said at this stage they would only offer the quad test and only if that comes up high risk would I be offered the NIPT.

@herewegoagain123456 so I was measuring 13w6d and baby was measuring 84.7 mm. She said the cut off the for combined screening is 84mm so we just missed it. She said they wouldn't process the test at the lab as it's absolute maximum 84mm. Hopefully you will be ok xx

Hopefully I will be. If not I think I will pay for the NIPT just where I'm Abit older.

Are you going to go for the NIPT?

Redapple21 · 07/08/2024 08:10

@herewegoagain123456 I'm still undecided. Trying to weigh it all up. It's a personal choice isn't it. I can have the quad test in another week so I'm thinking I'll have that and go from there.

KittyFantastica · 07/08/2024 15:21

Hi all, just marking my place.

Beautiful scan pics! 😍

I'm feeling annoyed today. I had NIPT done on Friday morning and called to follow up today as I've heard nothing and I need the results ASAP as I need to let work know urgently. They said my sample had only just reached the lab yesterday! Someone else who had theirs on the same day and after mine had their results already. What were they doing with it all that time?!

It's been so stressful as there may be further redundancies at work and I really didn't want to tell work in case things don't work out and I'd have to explain to HR for a third time I wouldn't need maternity leave. I don't think I can go through that again.

NoisyBee · 07/08/2024 15:59

Hi all! Been pretty quiet on here recently.. first time pregnancy so feeling all kinds of emotions.
EDD was 17th Feb according to my LMP but I did ovulation tests and knew I ovulated later so I am more like EDD of 28th Feb.
Had lots of brown blood around week 7 (according to my ovulation date) and ended up being referred to EPU - was measuring a week behind week 6 but they saw a heartbeat so no concerns really. Brown blood continued for 2 weeks solid :( so booked a private scan at want I thought was 9 weeks and was still measuring a week behind at 8 weeks but still a heartbeat. Brown/ red blood has started again today - due for my 12 week scan on Friday (although will only be 11 weeks off my ovulation date and now worried I will only be 10 going off my last 2 scans) . Should I be worried that I'm 1 week behind mt known ovulation dates? Really hoping this new blood is nothing and I have caught up with dates at my scan on Friday but very anxious. I'm holding on to the heartbeats I have seen at both scans, last one was strong too at 170bpm
Xx

QuantumPanic · 07/08/2024 17:34

@NoisyBee Did you track ovulation with temping, or with LH sticks (or both)? I read a lot about LH while TTC and there is a fair bit of variation in how long after the LH surge women ovulate - time to implantation can also be variable. Together these might account for being a week behind what you thought you should be? If I'm reading correctly, you've been a week behind at both scans - I would be reassured by this that baby is developing normally (I.e. not falling further and further behind). Bleeding is really scary (I had red blood at 6w) but it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Have you called EPU to tell them about the bleeding?

Keeping everything crossed for you.
