@SC126 I'm lucky that I don't like fitted clothes. Have a few maxi dresses from before that are smock style and will fit throughout. I found new look good for these and come above ankle length so perfect for short arses 😅 trousers currently are a no go. It's gym leggings or my last pair of very stretchy jeans that have about a week left!

SC126 · 11/04/2024 15:33

@WinsandSam the trousers are for work only. I plan to spend the rest of pregnancy in leggings and oversized dresses. It worked in my last pregnancy just fine 🤣 I really don't want to fork out for tons of maternity clothes that will be worn for mere months.

longingtobe23 · 11/04/2024 15:42

I agree with these comments I think I might launch the scales at week 20 😂👍🏻

Today was the third I didn’t puke (so far) I’m really hoping it’s the end. Sorry for those still suffering.
hoping this means I can get to swimming this evening after work and a nice relaxing evening 🤭

rupertbear91 · 11/04/2024 16:01

Just a recommendation which I'm sure someone on here mentioned I got a pair of crz yoga maternity leggings for my birthday and they are literally the best thing in the world. Material is exactly the same as my lululemon leggings and you can get ones with pockets. Totally non see through I will be living in these for the next 5 months 😂 they also do a short length which might solve the petite issue?

cd24x · 11/04/2024 16:08

I'm in @tryingfortwo2 camp! I was overweight prior to getting pregnant, and I am refusing to get on the scales. Was exactly the same with my son. I was huge during pregnancy, had the testing for gestational diabetes which was negative. He was 10lb 6oz, so a proper chunk, but no issues. I guess I just grow them big!

I was lucky to be able to breastfeed, and that played a massive part in losing the weight I put on in pregnancy. Our wedding was delayed due to COVID and rearranged for when DS was 4 months old, and ended up with my wedding dress (bought pre pregnancy) being slightly too big in the end!

There is so much anxiety surrounding pregnancy already that I refuse to let numbers on a scale add to that. I'm going to try and enjoy pregnancy as much as possible as it's 99.9% likely this will be the last time for me. If that means eating the occasional cake because its all I fancy, so be it!

Xur · 11/04/2024 16:37

I’m a bit worried about the fact that I didn’t feel the baby kicking today, I’m not sure when I last did to be honest, yesterday but at what hour I don’t recall.. normally it’s active during daytime aswell, but today hasn’t been 😬 not entirely sure maybe he is moving and In just not feeling it today. It’s a tad worrisome

Cinai · 11/04/2024 16:41

I’ve been struggling with maintaining a (more or less) healthy weight all my life, and I have body image issues, I’m always very careful with what I wear to not show any extra kilos. So happy that we’re talking about pregnancy weight gain here, I’m having some issues with accepting that my body will change (and undoing recent weight loss successes to get to a more healthy weight). I feel it’s not something I can talk about easily, not even with DH who just doesn’t get it. I feel it looks like I’m ungrateful to be pregnant and superficial if I worry about weight gain and body image, but at the same time I don’t think I can just turn a switch after all these years of focusing on healthy weights and what the scale shows.

longingtobe23 · 11/04/2024 16:45

@rupertbear91 that was I and then many others agreed with me thank god! As I did panic that people would think they were crap! And I had made them part with money haha

you have reminded me though that I need to order a new pair! 🙌🏻

Xur · 11/04/2024 16:47

@Cinai I’m a recovered anorexic. Pregnancy weight changes are no joke to such people. 😬

rupertbear91 · 11/04/2024 16:50

@longingtobe23 I now owe you my eternal gratitude for the rest of pregnancy 😂 and I have also just ordered 2 more pairs because I need to be able to wash these at some point 😂😂

WinsandSam · 11/04/2024 17:24

@rupertbear91 I have these in non maternity and maternity and they're so comfy!! Best leggings and I live in them

WinsandSam · 11/04/2024 17:27

@Cinai I feel you. I lost nearly two stone over a couple of years and finally started to like how I looked. Now I just feel fat, I know I'm not but it's weird accepting a growing stomach. Body image issues are hard to manage! Especially when everyone around you is loving the growing bump. I'm not sure how big your bump should be but worry I look like over gained weight.
It's hard as I also don't care and do eat what I fancy

MrsM89 · 11/04/2024 17:31

I'm only 4ft 11 so petite trousers hardly ever fit me. Tbh I don't ever wear trousers anymore. Dresses are my go to always. Xx

tryingfortwo2 · 11/04/2024 13:47

Just in case anyone is quietly reading and worried about the weight chat, as I would’ve first time round - I was a tall, lean size 10 pre-pregnancy with my daughter, and gained 4 stone exactly by the time I gave birth. My baby was 7lbs 5, healthy as can be, as was I throughout pregnancy and birth (still able to walk my dogs up to 2 hours until the day of my induction).

I dropped 1stone exactly in birth, and the remaining 3 steadily came off with time. Please don’t stress about the amount gained (unless obv advised otherwise), your body is doing an incredible thing and comparisons aren’t always the best thing for us ♥️

Well said @tryingfortwo2 🫶🏼

Lillers · 11/04/2024 18:37

Complete change of subject, but we’re planning on getting our family bathroom redone before the baby arrives. Our en suite was originally the priority because it is mank, but with the baby on the way we decided to prioritise the family bathroom.

For those who already have children, are there any really obvious considerations we should bear in mind when designing the new bathroom? It’s just a fairly small to average family bathroom, so we’ll be going for a standard toilet, sink, bath and overhead shower. There won’t be a lot of room in there to install much storage, so I’m just thinking if there is anything in your bathroom that you couldn’t live without or any things we might not have thought of that makes things easier with children?

SC126 · 11/04/2024 19:12

@Lillers somewhere to hide bath toys. And don't get a square toilet as none of the toilet training seats fit it.

YellowZ · 11/04/2024 19:33

@Lillers Probably a shower screen not a curtain...but ideally a screen that can't be pushed open. Our bathroom has a shower screen that swings outwards if lightly pushed, and DS pushes it open mid-shower. He also loves pulling hard on the chain for the bath plug/putting the plug in his mouth 😬 so a plug that doesn't need a chain. Enough floor space at the sink for a set of steps so they can wash their hands. Somewhere in the bath area to put things you don't want them to get eg a high shelf for razors, your nice grown up bath products etc.

HRP1990 · 11/04/2024 19:59

@Lillers definitely agree with somewhere to hide the hideous plastic bath toys lol. I’d prioritise storage - our sink has a built in cupboard around it so it’s great for all my toiletries, but found it super useful for all her toiletries, toys etc! I do like putting everything away though vs being on show so depends how you like to live

HRP1990 · 11/04/2024 20:00

Also, we renovated our bathroom when my daughter was 3 months old - hard not recommend! (She had her first bath in an avocado suite, bless her 😂)

longingtobe23 · 11/04/2024 20:19

Feeling so low level popping and rolling tonight
nothing strong but defo something 🤞🏻😬💗

Led on the sofa with joggers pulled right down poking at her😂 HeLlO aNyBoDy tHeRe

poor baby 🤦🏼‍♀️

MudandMoet · 11/04/2024 20:44

The comment about the hideous plastic toys made me smile. I'm obsessive that everything has its place and even all my storage is super neat inside with wicker baskets and zero clutter. I am dreading all the colourful plastic that is inevitably going to encroach as time goes on. I'm
already thinking how I can ease the destruction... Is there such a thing as too many F&M baskets? All said slightly lighthearted

@longingtobe23 thats lovely - special moments 🫶🏻

Fluffycavut · 11/04/2024 20:49

Hi guys, not posted in such a long time. Had my 20 week scan today. All looks healthy. We did get a pictures but at one point my little boy was giving us the middle finger v disappointed I didn't get that image 🤣

I really want to go out and buy some clothes!!

Lillers · 11/04/2024 20:57

Thank you guys for the bathroom feedback! Those are exactly the kind of comments I was looking for - I also hate plastic and clutter so will definitely give a lot of thought to the storage options!

Hi again!

Majorly humbled by my physio today. She asked if I had a bump yet and I was about to say yes when she looked at my tummy and said no I don’t… so the little bump I’ve been stroking is in fact a big bit of bloating 😂

She said I could broadly call my pelvic pain a form of PGP as there’s no alternative name, but it’s actually caused by some prior pelvic floor issues and is sortable with some exercises! And absolutely no pelvic floor exercises for me…

It was worth paying to see a private physio for sure. So, so comprehensive with my medical history and symptoms. And no big waiting list either!

I don’t think that was very kind - you’ve got something in your belly that is at least 15cm top to toe, along with a placenta, amniotic sac and so on. Of course that’s going to cause a bump. At this stage it won’t (just) be bloating!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 11/04/2024 21:04

On the legging topic - anyone know of any leggings that are good quality, not see through but NOT high waisted? Fabric over my stomach (pregs or not) suffocates me!

I really want some brown leggings but they allllll seem to be HW
