New thread seeing as the other one is full! I’ll try to tag as many people as I can seeing as the other one is full so I can’t post a link…

DH felt a little kick for the first time this morning - normally as soon as I tell him to put his hand there it stops 😂.
20 week scan coming up on Friday - feels like such a long time away!

@Decaffe I feel your worry. I have my scan on Tuesday and for a couple of weeks started feeling something. For about a week I've felt nothing at all but my belly is huge! I'm scared for bad news

WinsandSam · 04/05/2024 22:27

Any advise on getting my stomach working? Sorry if tmi but I've rarely had constipation in my life, but now it's been 3 days and I feel rank 😢 I'm drinking water, eating prunes, walking a lot.. nothing is helping and my stomach is HUGE

What is helping you??

PoppingUp · 04/05/2024 22:51

Lactulose from the pharmacy! I'd never been bothered by slow digestion pre-pregnancy but it was starting to be a bit of an issue from second trimester onward and this has got me mostly back to normal. I've not been taking it every day, maybe a couple of spoons every second day and that has been plenty for me.

Oh bless you I had it so bad early on! I'd sit on the toilet in tears! I ate bran flakes every morning and prunes every day. Seemed to work for me!

WinsandSam · 05/05/2024 07:13

@TripleESept24 @PoppingUp thank you both!
I'm away on holiday with family and I keep hiding in the toilet getting really frustrated 😩
If I can find a pharmacy today I'll look for lactulose. Also bran flakes.
Thanks both, it's so frustrating as not something I've struggled with pre pregnancy

rupertbear91 · 05/05/2024 07:40

It's 20 week scan day for me today am so nervous not helped by being up half the night with hip pain and a killer throat

@WinsandSam it's the absolute worst I had it earlier on and it's so painful. Hope you can get to a pharmacy to help

Xur · 05/05/2024 08:19

@WinsandSam I’ve had it from the start sadly. Be careful, bran FLAKES might actually make it worse. The safest way would be mixing brans, just brans with yoghurt and having that. What you could also try is having milk in the afternoon, preferably warm. Have two small cups.…or for some period of time I also had a shot of prune juice in the morning. But just a shot, I didn’t eat prunes or drink loads of the juice. I just kept it to a daily morning shot (literally from a shot glass). You should limit your sugar intake until it eases up. If I wouldn’t be doing all this and more I would still be in agony. I literally have to plan what I eat which day in order to not eat too much of something that makes it worse or to not eat not enough of something that eases it.

WinsandSam · 05/05/2024 08:21

Thanks all! All the joys hey 😅

@Xur I don't have milk so not something I can try. I'll give all the other stuff a go today though

Cinai · 05/05/2024 08:55

@rupertbear91 good luck for your scan!

Re constipation - I occasionally struggled before getting pregnant, we are now having food that’s high in fibre for our meals (by doing simple things like swapping white bread/rice/pasta for wholewheat, or adding some beans or nuts) and that seems to work for me.

Oran333 · 05/05/2024 09:56

Any one have swollen ankles?

HRP1990 · 05/05/2024 10:57

I haven’t had any constipation thankfully, I have however started getting round ligament pain mainly when I’m walking the dog. It’s almost in the same place and starts after about 20 mins and feels like a sitch but super low down on one side!

I’ve just had a vinted haul arrive for baby which has made me want to tackle the loft! We kept most things from my daughter so I thought a long weekend would be a good time to sort through, see what we have, and sell all the girly things we won’t be using 🥹

I’d seen people have bears and blankets made from old babygrows, has anyone with other children done this? I’d love to keep her favourite ones and a bear or blanket sounds like a lovely keepsake!

Yes, I’ve just had a big cry because I am anticipating the worst now. I’d give anything for one tiny movement of reassurance.

rupertbear91 · 05/05/2024 15:33

Baby all good at our scan today and surprisingly cooperative!

I also hadn't felt him move for several days after pretty regular movement but he was kicking away in there. Midwife said it's totally normal at this stage so try not to worry.

@rupertbear91 lovely scan pic and great news all okay.

I've cycled (E Biked so kind of cheated) 23 miles around Rutland Water today, this poor baby was shook around all over the shop with how bumpy the paths were due to all the rain and erosion. To say my nethers are tender is the biggest understatement of the year, yikes!!! 🥴

SpicyMoth · 05/05/2024 20:35

@xur you're a legend!! Thanks so much!! <3

It’s noticeable that my belly has entered a growth spur. I no longer can see my knickers when lounging, the bump is taking over 😅

longingtobe23 · 05/05/2024 21:44

Project garden office was a go this weekend and will finish off tomorrow but wow I’m shattered
I could hardly help and had to wear big ugly knickers and a bump band! (One I’ve have since my son!) and it helped hugely with my back. Couldn’t do any bending as it always ends with sharp lower tummy pain. So I was on Tea and sausage bap duty 😅

I didn’t think I even looked very pregnant yet but I feel like a ragged old hag 🙃

the knickers are really making me laugh 🫣🤞🏻 I need to get some big no VPL on order but they’re soooo comfy

Morning all, I am down in Cornwall visiting my family for the bank holiday! And my lower back is in absolute agony! Worst it's been an struggling to get In and out of bed and bend down for shoes/socks/shaving my legs/applying moisturiser!!

Anyone else had this? Could it be linked to sitting/the long car journey?

PoppingUp · 06/05/2024 09:34

For the 20 week scan are you meant to have a full bladder or not?

I don't think the letter mentioned it this time but I'm overthinking as I found the first scan experience really overwhelming and kept misunderstanding the instructions I was given! Hoping for a more enjoyable experience this time!

my letter told me to have four glasses of water an hour beforehand. I only drank around two though as I’d found in previous scans my bladder was always too full and they’d make me go pee halfway through the scan! As long as you’ve had some liquid you should be fine

RachSmile · 06/05/2024 09:51

I did two very short flights over this weekend to see family and have found baby is so active after being up in the air! I felt so anxious before both flights but it was really reassuring to feel baby kicking away in there 💕 over 22 weeks now and my partner has finally felt her kicking for the first time - agree with everyone else who’s said the baby seems to stop moving when the partner tries to feel it too! I’m sure he thought I was making it up being able to feel her kicking for so long 😂

Cinai · 06/05/2024 10:08

@PoppingUp I was told that I can empty my bladder when I arrived. You could always ask when you arrive and go for to pee before going in.

rupertbear91 · 06/05/2024 10:35

@PoppingUp my bladder was empty for mine and they didn't mention it. Got all the measurements done fine.

MudandMoet · 06/05/2024 11:14

@PoppingUp my bladder was empty too, sonographer lady said I might have to go have a drink and pop back in an hour - then she proceeded to scan me and all was found which she needed. Agree with you, it's not always clear if they want a full bladder or not for these appointments.

@longingtobe23 I've succumbed to the big pants too 😂 my goodness they're so comfy but like yourself I'm in need of some without a VPL desperately!
