I swear my life is doing my head in right now. I have to skip gym this week sadly, because I have to do about 66 hours of work this week.
I really cannot believe the audacity of some people, I’m now almost 22 weeks in and some bloke cannot be bothered to come in to work or to do his job so he gets his mum to get a doctor to sign him off work with work related stress which leaves me covering all this wankery.
I swear I envy those who have managed to ease their life in their pregnancy and limit the workload, stress and bullshit exposure at work. My life is the absolute opposite, I’ve been all hands on deck, all decks. I have more hands on deck than I physically have.
I am so fed up.

I have been shite at exercise bar dog walk and walking 🙈
but since I found out about low placenta I’m scared to do weights and peloton as I get cramps

going to swim tomorrow 😛

Ive had a lot of ‘are you sure there’s only one in there’ or ‘I thought you were further along’ comments. I carried large with DD and was mainly all water so obviously the same thing has happened with baby girl because I’m massive again and she’s perfectly average.

I was so proud of DD bump but I’m more self conscious this time with the comments.

Arghh, these comments are the worst! Even if said “in jest” it still feels brutal. “Are you sure you’re only 4 months?!” Yes, I’m very sure, now fuck off ☺️

Honestly same!
Was very damn sedentary before as most of my work requires being sat Infront of my PC, most of the advice I've been given was to keep as active as you were before pregnancy and seeing as that wasn't very much.. Well.. You can imagine! xD

I've been trying to force in a longer dog walk, or do the odd 15 minute cycle but honestly I'm really not very fit at all and I'm constantly exhausted as it is - I cannot stress enough though how much low impact stuff has been a saviour for me.

15 mins on the bike whilst I've got dinner on and now this last swim trip have truly been a godsend, especially for pain!
I'm hoping to make swimming a regular bi-weekly thing right up until "go-time" if budget allows - I really really do recommend it if you can!

Fwiw I'm sure you're doing great and take at least some relief or feeling of solidarity in knowing that you can't be half as shite with exercise as me!!
I'm certain I'm the least physically active person on this thread, especially after seeing so many bump pictures of beautifully slender women, you all look like super tall elegant models!
I could never! 😂🙈

longingtobe23 · 03/05/2024 10:26

@SpicyMoth i honestly think swim for preggos is so good towards the end too
so I need to start soon before I whale out or else I’ll just a floating blob 😅
I haven’t been since 1st trimester but looking forward to it today! Even shaved my legs 🫣

Decaffe · 03/05/2024 13:23

Well, I am starting to see why there is such a market for at-home dopplers, despite their use being strong advised against by the NHS, Tommy’s etc. I haven’t had any movement since last weekend. I know that apparently it’s still early (20w1d) but that’s hasn’t stopped me getting in my head all morning and trying all sorts to elicit a movement. I’m now travelling along the path of thinking that this inevitably will mean bad news at my scan on Tuesday morning, that I’ve detached my placenta, all sorts. I wish I didn’t get like this.

FuppinNora · 03/05/2024 14:09

@Decaffe I had this coming up to my 20 week scan and was full sure if was gone. At the scan, there they were jiggling all around, happy out, crossing legs uncrossing etc. I couldn't feel a thing. The sonographer even said that i need this baby to calm down to get measurements 🤣 I have an anterior placenta which is cushioning movements. I know it is easy to say not to worry but...
Try a can of regular coke that got mine all dancing one week, didn't work the week I wanted it to work but worth a try 😂

Decaffe · 03/05/2024 15:21

Oh, I have tried everything today! Hot drinks, ice cold drinks, hot bath, lying on the left, lying on the right, lying propped up, I even went on all fours like a cow. Either the baby has magically disappeared somewhere which is odd as I started feeling movements five weeks ago, or, well, it’s bad news. Nothing I can do but wait til Tuesday. I’ve done barely any work today for worrying.

SC126 · 03/05/2024 17:59

@Decaffe try not to stress. They have probably just changed positions. It's still early enough that kicks are not consistent. My boy seems to like sugar which I consume way too much of. But in between he goes quiet.

Emmaev · 03/05/2024 18:11

@Decaffe this was exactly me before our 20 week appointment. I’d barely felt baby girl, with DD I was feeling her from 16 weeks so was beginning to worry. However there she was happy as Larry wiggling round the screen. Turned out I’ve got an anterior placenta this time round so everything is cushioned. Plus they’re still so small at this stage and tons of places to hide.

I actually do have an at home Doppler that I bought 8 years ago with DD, I haven’t used it much this time, but have bought it out for DP so he can feel more connected and it does reassure me. I won’t be using it in later pregnancy as if I had worries I’d go to triage in regards to reduced movement etc. They can be difficult to use as well as the placenta and babies heartbeat have a similar sound so it’s a case of knowing the difference between the two.

I know how difficult it is not to worry, I’m a bag of nerves all the time. Pregnancy seems to be nothing but anxieties.

Exactly like you @Emmaev I felt my daughter much earlier that I did in this pregnancy and I did worry going into my 20 week scan - and there he was wriggling away, I just couldn’t feel it! Turns out I also have an anterior placenta! @Decaffe I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry - I know ultimately your mind won’t be put to rest until your scan.. however I hope similar stories can ease the worries slightly for now x

Cinai · 03/05/2024 18:26

Just had my 20 weeks scan, all looking good, and joining team blue 🩵

SpicyMoth · 03/05/2024 18:26

@Decaffe I second sugar!
Sugar or milk gets him REALLY going for it, or tbh really eating in general seems to get my wee one moving about at least a little bit.

Idk how accurate this is but I read that apparently babies can taste and smell what we're eating which seems mental to me!!

It might be hard to feel if anterior, but try and see if any particular food or drink sets your wee one off on a wiggle-spree!

"Can babies taste in the womb?
In a way, yes – babies can taste in the womb. Molecules of the food you eat pass through your bloodstream and into the amniotic fluid. Flavors are transmitted from your diet to amniotic fluid in the womb and after birth."

Babies can taste in the womb because molecules of the food you eat pass through your bloodstream and into the amniotic fluid.

@Cinai welcome to blue! 🧢

I have noticed my baby moves more on days I had stressful events- adrenaline, cortisol floating in my veins. 😬

RosiePH · 03/05/2024 20:00

I am 19 weeks now and not sure if I’ve felt baby or not?! I’ve had a few little kick feelings and a few which feel like little vibrations almost just below my belly button. But they also happen under my left ribcage and lowdown to the very right above my hip, and the baby can’t be in these positions! So maybe I’ve just got lot of internal gas?! Don’t appear to be extra gassy otherwise though haha.

FuppinNora · 03/05/2024 22:07

@RosiePH think that's baby, first movements, for me it was similar. Near the belly button it is like a 'pop pop' feeling

Emmaev · 03/05/2024 22:32

@RosiePH I had a few feelings like that around 19 weeks and felt sure it was baby girl, but yes also I’m extra mega gassy.

When I properly felt baby girl at 21 weeks there was no mistaking what I was feeling. Now my belly moves when she’s rolling round. Hopefully won’t be much longer until you get a definite sign!

SpicyMoth · 03/05/2024 22:35

I think my midwife said a couple days ago around 19-21 weeks your womb has stretched up either a cm or an inch above your belly button so it probably is baby's movements!
Gahhh, how lovely!!! <3 I wish mine were higher up like that tbh! anything I feel is super low down as baby likes to curl up with his tummy facing downwards hahaha

A weird one off muscle spasm/twitch every so often is how I describe it - I think everyone feels it a tad differently though, I was super confused when I wasn't feeling it like "butterflies" or "gas" at first!

rupertbear91 · 04/05/2024 06:33

Any tips for throat infections? Salt water not cutting it and my normal go to extra strength strepsils say you can't take if pregnant 😭 I can hardly swallow this morning 😫

Lillers · 04/05/2024 06:36

@rupertbear91 The only thing that helped when I had a sore throat earlier in the pregnancy was hot water with honey and lemon. It was lovely and did soothe my throat, but unfortunately it did make me throw up shortly afterwards 🤦‍♀️

OP posts:
Xur · 04/05/2024 07:53

@rupertbear91
take some coarse salt, put it on the pan, heat it up, then put it into a cotton fabric or a tea towel, make a sausage out of it and put it around your neck like a scarf, keep it until the warmth leaves and then take the salt off.

LSW82 · 04/05/2024 08:12

@rupertbear91 I had this last week, hot water with honey & lemon I did once but didn't taste great! Paracetamol took the edge off a bit, mine did get better through the day so fingers crossed for you

It made me gag a bit too, I was expecting it to taste much better than it did!!!

rupertbear91 · 04/05/2024 08:40

Thanks everyone I will give some of the suggestions a try. I have a really busy weekend so could do without being laid up 🤦🏽‍♀️

Happylittlebump · 04/05/2024 11:44

@RosiePH I am so glad you have mentioned that as this morning I felt something very similar, a few little vibrations. I have my next scan on Tuesday I feel a bit nervous.
