New thread seeing as the other one is full! I’ll try to tag as many people as I can seeing as the other one is full so I can’t post a link…

I definitely didn’t want any live birth videos or anything similar before I had my daughter lol. I also told people around me I didn’t want to hear about their labours (without being rude!) but happy to chat after I had had her.. as I just didn’t want any negativity etc floating around in my mind in the run up to having her.

Instead I listened to podcasts about other women’s positive birth stories! I think “midwife pip” was a good one? I also found antenatal classes great at being informative but not scaremongering?

But that’s just me! I just thought if I went in “knowing” how painful this was going to be and how “wrong” it was going to go, I’d get myself in a tiz and end up having a negative experience.. if that makes any sense lol

MudandMoet · 28/04/2024 08:14

I shan't be watching live birth videos either, already scared to death about what will/wont happen so I'll be looking for the positive stuff nearer the time (I'm not ready yet and will forget!)
@Xur I think watching stuff like that wouldn't help most people's mind set. Yes, it certainly happens that way but not always and I'm not sure it's appreciated on a thread full of pregnant ladies right now 😬

WinsandSam · 28/04/2024 08:49

Birth videos or discussions around birth are a NO GO for me!! I'm already terrified and have had people scare me even more. So I'll duck out of those conversations 🤪 even some chats on here make me panic. Just going with the flow

Emmaev · 28/04/2024 10:54

Hope everyone and babies are doing good! Had a couple days away been battling extreme exhaustion. Can hardly keep my eyes open most days.

So crazy that I’ll be 22 weeks tomorrow. Anxiety is creeping up as my bp began to rise with DD last time around this time. So been keeping an eye on that as so far so good. However I am absolutely pants at remembering to take my aspirin.

I’m on the don’t wanna think about birth bandwagon. A girl at work started to tell me about her traumatic birth and I had to stop her. I know it won’t be pleasant, no matter how much I prepare. So best to not scare myself now.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 28/04/2024 13:07

I'm the complete opposite - I LOVE a birth vlog on YouTube - I continued to watch them even after my pregnancy with DS and have never stopped since 😂

PoppingUp · 28/04/2024 16:03

What's the polite response when someone offers you some of their second hand baby bits? I'm very happy to take them and would also be happy to give some token money and/or give them a thank you gift next time I see them but I'm getting stuck on the nice way to reply via message. Is 'yes please! Can I give you some money towards it?' a weird response or not? I find these conversations much easier face to face!

It seems like just paying things forward is the norm amongst my wider gang but I don't want to assume that and put my foot in it 😬

SC126 · 28/04/2024 16:19

@PoppingUp i wouldn't stress it and take the stuff if you want them. They are probably glad to get rid easily 🤣 saves them bagging up and trekking to a charity shop or something. Some people find it a faff to sell things online etc.

malimoon · 28/04/2024 16:19

@PoppingUp same as you lots of people have been offering and nobody has actually wanted money but if I haven't been sure I say "that would be lovely, let me know if I can give you some money for it as I know these things are expensive" or similar. So very much what you've said and nobody seems to think it's weird. But honestly people mostly seem quite glad to clear stuff out of their houses 😅

SC126 · 28/04/2024 16:21

@malimoon exactly this. Babies come with so much stuff they definitely just want their house back ready for more stuff to be bought for their now older child.

TripleESept24 · 28/04/2024 17:15

I've had a day that feels like a hangover today 🤣 I slept in, and then haven't moved from the sofa and have been nodding off here and there. And now I have just ordered loads of naughty snacks crisps, chocolate, sweets and Dr pepper (my fizzy drink craving!) off deliveroo 😭🤰

I’ve had a really similar day! Husband is working and normally when he works on a Sunday I’d spend the day sorting the house and making a nice dinner for when he gets in, but he said this morning he really wants to make burgers tonight (which I won’t do because I’m still not ok with raw meat) and somehow that has turned into me not doing anything at all. I’ve snacked on the sofa all day, binged Netflix and had a nap. Now eating dolly mixtures and watching football while I wait for him to get home!

I'm also watching football watched the arsenal game too, and waiting for my snacks!! 🙈

I think a day of doing nothing and just giving in to your cravings is needed some times!! I can't really be bothered to cook I made a lovely vegetable curry and my own rotis yesterday!

SC126 · 28/04/2024 18:08

@TripleESept24 i sent hubby to the corner shop for some chocolate and he came back with 4 bags! like did I look that desperate or something 🤣 I also told him this morning that I really need McDonalds 🤣 this baby apparently likes all the good stuff!

malimoon · 28/04/2024 18:13

Now I feel better that I just ate an entire sharing sized bag of pickled onion Monster Munch, thanks all

longingtobe23 · 28/04/2024 18:26

I have had a weekend of awful eating. Oopsie. But what will be will be 🤦
I can try again in the week haha.
Husband was sick so escaped Saturday after setting him up with snacks and meds. Then he was better today we so went bed shopping. Totally overwhelming with choice and as if we didn't have enough to decide on. He wants a new bed 😂

Try gear myself up for the final GCSE count down - totally exhausted now and ready for half term break. I'm also applying for a new role and decided to keep hidden pregnancy whilst I do so. If of course interviews are when I'm 25 weeks I think I'll have to come clean. I know it's protected but I've been waiting for this promotion for years just typical timing.

WinsandSam · 28/04/2024 18:49

I have also had a weekend of unhealthy eating and eating (but enjoyed it.) my drink of choice at the moment is Lilt 🤤 so refreshing.

Something I'm struggling with is bloating and feeling VERY full after a few mouthfuls, then nausea. I feel like food is up in my chest and keep burping. It's super uncomfortable so I had to come to bed this afternoon after a few mouthfuls of lunch.

I keep putting it down to IBS but now wonder if it's indigestion? I've never had it before. Anyone think that's what it could be?

HRP1990 · 28/04/2024 19:15

We’re adding to team blue!
Now we’ve got one of each 🥹💕💙

I also ate a whole sharer pack of crisps! Co-op irresistible sea salt and Chardonnay vinegar and wow are they SHARP! My partner hated them said they burnt your tongue haha

Congrats@HRP1990 One of each perfect 💙🩷 xx

MudandMoet · 28/04/2024 19:50

Also ate sooo much this weekend. Yesterday was greggs (lots of) for lunch and homemade burgers for tea. We tend to go out for Sunday lunch when the farms not busy (thanks rain!) and we've also just had a charcuterie board for tea. I had a sneaky shandy and it was bloody lovely! We're also still ploughing our way through our Easter Chocolate (I think I mentioned my family is tiny but go mental!) Had a few naps and generally not done a lot but there's no medals for being a martyr that's for certain.

@HRP1990 fantastic news - so pleased for you 🫶🏻

When we swap spooning positions at night DH can feel baby kicking his back now when she starts (we sleep nakey) it was so funny last night she was super active and making us laugh.

How many weeks are you now? I'm 20 + 2 and I can feel movements so much stronger now but my partner still can't really feel them.

Dog was lying on my belly last night, the baby kicked and the dog jumped up in shock looking confused so she must of felt it 🤣

Lillers · 28/04/2024 19:57

@HRP1990 Congratulations! Yay I’m glad you got your beach reveal!

@longingtobe23 Good luck with the application. I’m also gearing up for the GCSE countdown - and our school has decided to do a “review week” this week as well so SLT are stopping in doing random observations all week to make sure our other classes are still getting decent lessons. I mean come on, we all know that the couple of weeks before GCSEs is all about Y11! I mean I know I’m on SLT so I’m one of the ones doing this, but it’s still so stupid right now 😂.

@WinsandSam Lately I’ve been feeling like my stomach is in my chest and churning - I tend to then get indigestion shortly afterwards. It’s a horrible feeling! Also I’m one of those people who can’t burp, so I can’t even get rid of the excess gas 😔. The only time I ever burp is if I’m about to be sick and sometimes it’s downright painful not being able to do it.

Congratulations @HRP1990 🩵🩵

@TripleESept24 dr pepper is my craving too, I just can’t get enough of it. My teeth aren’t gonna thank me. We had McDonald’s last night and today I’ve been a snack queen!

I’m 21+6 and I’ve felt baby girl move loads, I’ve seen her move in my belly too however oh is yet to feel her. He’s too impatient every time she moves my belly he looks away. Clearly she’s already playing tricks on him like her big sis!

HRP1990 · 28/04/2024 20:30

Thanks girls! @Lillers @MudandMoet @Emmaev @TripleESept24

I had kept everything from my daughter, however not only is it mostly girly.. it’s also the wrong season (March baby) lol I’ve suddenly gone from feeling fairly organised to needing to start again!

MudandMoet · 28/04/2024 20:43

@TripleESept24 I'm 22+4 now. I'd say these last 10 days the kicks have been so much stronger and were more like flutters before for me. Ahhh your dogs hearing will be so sensitive too so really tuned in to what's going on in there if laying close 💛

@HRP1990 ahh sounds like it's time to start shopping then! 🛍️ 🩵

SpicyMoth · 28/04/2024 21:39
