@MrsM89 @mrsbgb lots of positive vibes that both of your further investigations are all positive take care of yourselves ❤️

My scan today was just a quick growth and check on small bits not anomaly (that’s in 5 days) it revealed I still have a low placenta and I don’t know what that means really other than they check it again at 31 weeks…
however google tells me flying isn’t advised? Anyone heard of that?

She did say that would be hindering my movement/feelings of baby and also it’s okay to not have a bump as I have a very long body 😂 so she’ll come out in her own time.
worth the money to me to rest my mind xx

longingtobe23 · 26/04/2024 14:12

I did ask the flying questions before actually and from memory it was all okay just tell midwife and GP maybe for a fit to fly?!
so don’t know why I asked again - I think my mind is still on it but I’d rather just not risk it I think. Will ask their advice when I see them again next week 🙈
don’t want to sound like a broken record!

MudandMoet · 26/04/2024 15:58

@BeautyAndTheBump1 that gif 😂 🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏼‍♂️

@Cat2022 my Google search results would raise some eyebrows these days with all these suggestions. Latest on the list - Vagina ladle 😂

@Xur stop!! I'm rolling here - next of the Google list - vagina cork/plug 😂😂

@TripleESept24 gorgeous momma to be 🥰

@longingtobe23 my oh my that wormy looking device is supposed to 'stretch' you? I think I'd lose it if I tried with that 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm sure I have something very similar but maybe a little thicker that might do the job 😉😆

@mrsbgb ahh it's so easy to say but try not to worry too much. It could be all perfectly fine on monday when you go 🤞🏼 for you xx @MrsM89 sending hugs, you must be stressed out of your wits. Hopefully you'll be back next week with positive news 🤞🏼 xx

So I woke up tonight needing the loo. Then I got really hungry. Grabbed the first thing from fridge, came back in bed ate the sausage, I’ve woken my partner up and he’s making coffee, now I got a nosebleed and all I can think of is pancakes.
I feel like I’m crazy, it’s out of my character to get up at night and be craving food…and to actually go eat. An even bigger pet peeve of mine is eating in bed. I was literally sat in bed eating sausage…

Lillers · 27/04/2024 08:49

Still got 2 weeks to go until my 20-week scan, honestly I can’t wait!

I do have a weird thing though - I’m excited to find out if we’re having a girl or a boy, but I’m also sad at losing the thought of whichever one it isn’t, if that makes any sense. I’ve been getting excited at the thought of having a little girl, and equally excited at the thought of having a little boy, and when I know which one it is I’ll be over the moon but also sad to “lose” the other one, as if I’ve already created the thought of both of these little people? I honestly don’t know if that makes any sense at all!

@mrsbgb @MrsM89 I’m so sorry you’re going through such worry at the moment - I hope you both get answers quickly and that everything goes as well as it can. Sending my love to both of you ❤️

Another post! Don’t mean to multi-post but keep thinking of other things 😂.

We got our travel system yesterday! After our hospital appointment last weekend we decided to have our JL appointment and get excited about the baby again (after a week of being terrified it was all over). We looked at loads of different prams and car seats etc, and went away with some favourites. DH then saw on their website that one of our top favourites was on sale in a reduced to clear bundle, so we ordered it and it arrived yesterday. We’ve got the Silver Cross Dune, and I love it already. Plus last night our cat slept in the basket underneath which was adorable 😂.

I’ve definitely been feeling very little baby kicks for the last few days. I’m only 18+3 and this is my first, so was surprised to start feeling rolls/flutters and now very distinct little thumps. Mainly in the evening but I’ve had some this morning as well. I can’t wait for it to be strong enough for DH to be able to feel it.

@lillers I get the part not wanting to know I felt the same before our gender scan but now we know it's lovely to be able to plan. And how exciting for the pram system.

Anyone else unable to sleep already due to hip pain lying on their side. I never cry and I was literally in tears this morning I'm so tired and it hurts so much despite a pregnancy cushion, wedge, duvet underneath as extra padding as the physio said it's because I have no natural padding over my hip bursters so I'm lay right on them.
My partner is off out on a big end of season hockey night out tonight too much I hate as they are all big drinkers and last year he walked 10 miles home at 5am and still finds it funny.,, I do not! So now I'm in a miserable state of worrying about what he will get up to and feeling sorry for my self I can't plan any fun outings because I just feel like death all the time 😔 Joy of pregnancy hormones 🙄

Lillers · 27/04/2024 11:11

@rupertbear91 I’ve got the hip pain on and off. The pillow definitely helps but not rid of it completely. I’ve found I tend to divide my nights in three now - start off sleeping on my right, then wake up when that gets too sore and prop myself up to sleep sitting more upright for a while, then switch to the left. Who would’ve thought that literally lying there doing nothing would be one of the most painful parts of pregnancy??

OP posts:
rupertbear91 · 27/04/2024 11:16

@Lillers it's just not fun is it. I like my sleep too much.... not ideal with a baby on the way I know 😂 I expected this to happen more like 30+ weeks not at 19 🤦🏽‍♀️

WinsandSam · 27/04/2024 16:49

@rupertbear91 sleep is definitely not my friend! I don't have hip pain but find my stomach uncomfortable. I toss and turn a lot during the night, the only time I'm comfy is when I wake on my back 😅
I got a V pillow which helps a little. Couldn't get on with a big pregnancy pillow just yet.
I also wake between 3-4am each morning, wide awake! My partner says it's the witching house and it must be the baby girl 🤣

SpicyMoth · 27/04/2024 18:36

Honestly I think this summarises exactly how I felt before my 20 week when I found out the sex even though I didn't know how to describe it!
I thought perhaps it was just turning out that I had a preference I didn't realise I had, as I could only think of girl names but no boy names.
But after a bit of soul searching pre-scan, I really didn't mind either way but just felt the desperate need to have both if that makes any sense at all?
I suppose it might come from the whole, you can try again for one of each but there's ofc no guarantee that that's what you'll end up with!

We've managed to find a baby boy name that we both love in the end - My DM ruined "Orson" for us, but Orson means bear cub, so we've just decided to go with "Bear"!
Hopefully when wee man arrives he suits his name, otherwise we're in for a hectic time tying to figure out a new name before we have to register! 😂

I've also manged to find some SUPER cute wee boys outfits that aren't all bloody beige!
I'm more of an alternative style kind of person so if anyone else here is, I highly recommend a site called Skeletots!

@rupertbear91
I also have some pretty bad hip pain/pelvic pain!
It's not as bad as yours though provided I've not spent too much time on my feet or walking, but if I've walked the 2 miles into town & back I'm in complete agony! Makes me feel such an unfit wuss...

The best things I've found so far have been ofc the pregnancy pillow, but also straddling a "long hot water bottle" when I'm sat down or in bed with paracetamol, and also weirdly doing about 15 minutes on my exercise bike has helped a bit surprisingly!!
I'm planning on trying to go swimming on Wednesday to see if that helps at all. I've found moving your hips/pelvis around with as little resistance/pressure back from hard surfaces has helped - It's not fixed it or resolved it entirely, but it's certainly made it much more bearable!

Tysm @malimoon !!
Have given them a look and added some bits and bobs to my Wishlist & basket for next pay day!!

Just been chatting to an old friend from about 8 years ago, and she's recommended watching some live birth videos on YouTube to get to grips with what's actually going to happen when it's go-time!
Has anyone else done this yet, or is planning to do this?
On paper it sounds like a good idea to know what you're in for, but in practice I just worry it's going to absolutely terrify me as this is my first and it's much too late to turn back now! 😅

I'm familiar with the general gist from Sex Ed in school back in the day, and One Born Every Minute, but ofc they blur a lot of stuff out for that!!

rupertbear91 · 27/04/2024 19:41

Thanks @SpicyMoth will have a look at the hot water bottle.

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to watch any videos on YouTube I feel like every birth is so different and it's too late to back out now I would rather bury my head in the sand 😂

That's pretty much how I'm feeling as well about watching videos@rupertbear91 !
Just seems like a sure fire way to make it all the more scary 😅
No one shall see my face 'til September as far as I'm concerned!!

Xur · 27/04/2024 20:02

@rupertbear91 I have lower back pain, but mainly when I’m moving. 🙁

@SpicyMoth I have watched birth videos before, they’re all so different, but the same at the same time.
All of my friends who have kids have said nothing can ever really prepare us for that. All have said to me, however bad we think it’s going to be, it’s worse than we can imagine without having it experienced before.
what I gather is that it’s long, stressful, painful and exhausting.

ForeverHopeful67 · 27/04/2024 20:21

Sending love and hugs @mrsbgb @MrsM89 💕

@PoppingUp Im a hay fever sufferer too 😫 usually I'm on the strongest dose of fexofenadine the docs can prescribe but that's a no no when pregnant so i hope it doesn't write me off this year 🤧

longingtobe23 · 27/04/2024 21:02

It’s finally sunk in we’re having a girl after two scans confirming and I also was a bit sad because I loved having a baby boy so much (and now he’s 8 a repeat would have been lovely lol)
but I also have always longed for a girl! So it’s okay to still feel a bit baffled at the start and now I feel over the moon 🥹 as long as baby is happy so am I!

I’m practically done on all parts shopping for clothes for her ekkk OTT I know and I can’t think of what else I possibly need clothes wise anymore!? I’m sure I’m missing something - so I’ll be asking for nothing from others and if they insist just gifts of muslins, toys or blankets I think 🤞🏻

our project office was delayed due to the weather and husband being sick. So behind on the nursery prep but did order SnuzBaskit for downstairs napping in the early days when I’m cuddled on the sofa! Snuzstudio for upstairs bed sorted too 👍🏼 I just can’t buy a car seat yet because I have nowhere to store it!

…and after I paid for a scan yesterday because I was sad I couldn’t feel her - tonight she is kicking like nobodies business and no denying she is in there 💕💕

tryingfortwo2 · 27/04/2024 21:05

@Xur ”it’s worse than we can imagine” I’m so glad I didn’t speak to your friends before my first birth 😂😂 I would argue that, I don’t think all births have to be that terrible, and mine certainly wasn’t 🥰

Absolutely agree with exhausting though, I was so tired - felt like we should somehow get a couple of days’ rest between pregnancy/birth and having a newborn!

Xur · 27/04/2024 22:11

@tryingfortwo2 there’s this meme I’ve seen on instagram ladies talking about how they swear by their ancestors they’re not going to go through it ever again (childbirth) and then they forget how horrible it was and do it again😂

Xur · 27/04/2024 22:25

I watched this and thought to myself I hope mine goes better and hopefully I won’t get horrible staff like this with me. If I will they’re getting told to F off. That position looks extremely uncomfortable and just…not working with gravity..

Check out “the birth uprising” on instagram. I think they’re brilliant. They’re like, no nonsense hypnobirthing gals that I feel like I’m friends with but don’t actually know in person 😂😂 they explain birth and the physiological side of it. I find that more informative that watching a birth, but could just be me!

LSW82 · 27/04/2024 23:03

@tryingfortwo2 totally agree! With my first I was expecting a lot worse , I didn't have a stress free labour & needed forceps in the end but I felt safe & had a lovely midwife / team around me, gas & air was my friend! Was absolutely exhausted though as awake for 24hours - then didn't really sleep much in hospital!!

malimoon · 27/04/2024 23:30

@SpicyMoth my Vinted favourites are full of this stuff 🤦‍♀️ I'm trying not to buy too much as I know my brother is going to send over a load of stuff from his baby (born in Feb in Australia) when my sister goes out to visit in June... But all the little clothes are so tempting. And I love to wear bright colours so baby will have to be the same haha

And re the main discussion... I have Not been watching any birth videos I feel like I'm committed now anyway and I'll just psych myself out! But I have fibroids and when I got scanned by consultant at 16 weeks he said unless one specific one of them moves it might well be that they recommend a C-section for me, so I'm half resigned to that anyway
