New thread seeing as the other one is full! I’ll try to tag as many people as I can seeing as the other one is full so I can’t post a link…

@Lillers yes that's a good way to describe it! Makes you feel unwell. Pleased I can burp though as really helps get it out 😅 all the joys! If you find anything that helps, let me know

Lillers · 28/04/2024 22:08

@WinsandSam I’ve been trying to really actively sit up straight/slightly forward after eating - I usually have a terrible habit of slumping back and putting my feet up after dinner which makes it worse. One day last week it was really bad so I knelt on the sofa on all fours… it didn’t help the churning feeling but helped to feel like I was stretching my chest and moving my stomach back out of it a bit!

Is there anyone on this thread from East Midlands?

Honeyandsunshine1 · 28/04/2024 22:45

Am I the only one being offered secon hand bits where I’m a bit like 😬 I love secondhand and I’m All for reusing, but I like really funky colours and prints, so I’m quite picky. I had my second and a friend (without asking) just dumped a whole 2 bin bags of baby boy bits outside mine. I know she meant well but I had to give 95% to charity (something I’d rather not have done postpartum) as I just didn’t like most of them. So now I’m like oooo, yes please but can I please have a look first? 🤣 I know that’s rude but the thought of being lumped with multiple bin bags of items I don’t like makes me anxious

Honeyandsunshine1 · 28/04/2024 22:48

YAY @HRP1990!! So pleased for you 🥹 What a bloody lovely pic too. Blue skies for blue baby 💙💙💙💙

Is there anyone on this thread from East Midlands?

🙋🏼‍♀️ I'm from Derbyshire. Where are you @TripleESept24 ?

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 29/04/2024 06:15

@TripleESept24 Me, I'm between Notts and Sheffield

SC126 · 29/04/2024 06:18

@TripleESept24 im also Derbyshire.

SC126 · 29/04/2024 06:19

@Honeyandsunshine1 this is what I'm like. I often just say no to second hand bits because I can't be bothered going through the stuff. I also prefer colours and beige is very in at the moment so I'm rather picky.

TripleESept24 · 29/04/2024 07:10

@BeautyAndTheBump1 @MudandMoet @SC126 I am Nottz. Only lived here since Nov! Found out pregnant in Jan!

I feel like I'm going to need mother and baby groups to find friends with children the same age!! As I don't know anyone!!

Emmaev · 29/04/2024 08:06

@Honeyandsunshine1 yes!! I am so fussy. I do truly appreciate the thought. But it’s just so wasted on me. I love second hand and I’m forever trawling through Vinted.

My OH sister bought my DD some awful bits last time. A lot of slogan bits like best auntie ever etc. And I totally get that she’s excited but it feels like a huge waste of money when there’s other bits that a baby desperately needs and babies aren’t cheap. I feel so cheeky though asking for bits we genuinely need rather than clothes that will be sat in the wardrobe.

longingtobe23 · 29/04/2024 08:19

@Emmaev i share your pain
my sister got out huge bundles of stuff from her daughter and I ended up taking 10 items max 🙈

I am very fussy and will have to suck up the grandparents style 😂 snap a photo of baby in the clothes then quickly move along. It sounds so ungrateful but as you say - I could do with other bits like Muslin/ nappies / even some nice simple blankets I seem to be short on!

But I do know it’s a joy to buy for babies and picking is half of the fun. So I’ll be keeping quiet unless they ask 🥲

PoppingUp · 29/04/2024 08:25

@Honeyandsunshine1 haha I've not had that experience yet! It's been bigger items like prams and slings that friends have been offering. We could afford things new but I'm really determined to try and save the splurging for when the baby's a bit older and will get more of the benefit. So many toddler Montessori style bits that Instagram is giving me the hard sell on at the moment! We've recently moved house too so I'm trying to channel the shopping energy into more general house improvements. I have got quite a lot of opinions about clothes though so we'll see how I react when people start trying to pass their 'adorable' outfits over 😅

We're planning not to share the gender mostly to try and prevent being inundated with blue or pink things but now @Emmaev had got me worried that the likely offenders will just switch the slogan items..! Also not sure how well I'll hold out on keeping the gender quiet once we know though as relatives are very keen to find out...

WinsandSam · 29/04/2024 09:00

I'm also fussy and don't want anything Barbie pink 🤮 so my friends have suggested a gift list (which I feel incredibly cheeky about.) They're planning me a baby shower and insist I do one as they got "loads of sh*t" they didn't want 😅 so I am a little tempted.
Luckily all my friends kids are over 10 so no hand me down clothes here! Sure I'll get some stuff at some point, likely my mum picking up tat from somewhere

Emmaev · 29/04/2024 09:00

@longingtobe23 i totally get that, and my oh sister can’t have children so I do let a lot slide as I know she’s just excited and I want her to feel involved. But I also don’t want her to waste money. I may just gently say we’re not looking for clothes as gifts and mention a few other fun bits baby girl will need.

@PoppingUp i ended up putting DD in the bits she bought for one picture just for her. If I remember rightly DD had an explosion in one and it had to be chucked anyway. So she obv wasn’t a fan either

RosiePH · 29/04/2024 09:48

I feel like I’m going to end up buying most things new! I’ve bought quite a lot of clothes so far, and a couple of toys and books. Nothing big yet.

All my friends with children already are at the stage of starting to have a second, so holding on to everything. And this will be the first grandchild on both sides!

I also live really rurally so FB Marketplace isn’t brilliant for stuff. There’s a local freecyle type group but the items are always very well-used to the point of being a bit grubby/need fixing. There’s been a few Medala breast pumps lately though and I almost got one until I realised that’s not the kind of pump you should use second hand as it’s an open system.

I’ve got a few clothes favourited on Vinted - but I’m waiting for my 20 week scan now before buying anything else. I’ve been eyeing up the artipoppe carriers on Vinted but they are almost as much as buying new.

mrsbgb · 29/04/2024 11:29

Morning ladies! We had our consultant scan this morning to follow up on baby boy’s kidneys. The news is as good as it can be given the circumstances - he’s likely to have reduced/no function in one kidney, but the other kidney looks healthy and there are no other issues. He’s also enormous 😂 leg length in the 98th centile and approx 70g heavier than average (but my husband is a 6’4 rugby player and I’m 5’10 so not such a surprise!)!

I’ll have very regular scans (approx every 3 weeks) to make sure the other kidney stays healthy as well as appointments at a specialist renal clinic, but the consultant said he wasn’t too concerned and there shouldn’t be any other complications in pregnancy and I can give birth how I’d planned to.

We also finally got a pic of him - they’d run out of printer paper at our 12 week scan and understandably it wasn’t a focus at our 20 week scan last week! ^^

malimoon · 29/04/2024 11:43

@mrsbgb I'm glad that things are looking relatively good, great news that he is chunky and thriving!

Emmaev · 29/04/2024 11:53

So glad things went as well as can be giving the circumstances @mrsbgb and what a lovely scan picture 🩵

Does anyone else get excited when they see another due in thread. I just saw there’s a due in jan one and makes me realise how much closer we’re all getting to meeting our babies

Lillers · 29/04/2024 12:08

@mrsbgb That must be such a relief for you - fingers crossed everything continues well from this point onwards.

@Emmaev Yes, I always get excited! I love dipping into those threads to see how far we’ve come, and also sometimes out of morbid curiosity I look at the thread for whichever month we’re in to see how people get on having their babies!

So my eldest son has suspected slapped cheek syndrome that he's caught from school. We had a notification from the school last week about the virus going round. So I've contacted my midwife and I'm getting a blood test to check if i have immunity or not. Just trying to remember that chances are probably slim of any complications.

MudandMoet · 29/04/2024 12:25

@mrsbgb lovely pic of your little chunky boy 🩵 so pleased today went well xx

@Emmaev I said this to DH last night - I did actually start to read a few comments on one and most were around the 3 weeks mark were there's so much anxiety and uncertainty. Did make me feel lucky too to be this far on and all okay xx

HRP1990 · 29/04/2024 13:48

I’m so happy to hear that @mrsbgb! Our little one is on the 75th percentile for weight - can’t wait to push that one out 😂

Also re clothes.. I tend to dress the baby in the outfit if that person is coming over etc.. but also when they get older you can use the clothes you dislike for nursery 😂 so it’s kind of a win win. You don’t want all your beautiful clothes coming back stained in food and paint 🥲

ForeverHopeful67 · 29/04/2024 14:10

@HRP1990 congratulations on the baby boy news!

We seem in very similar situations, my daughter was also born in march, and I too kept EVERYTHING, and found out two weeks ago we are now having a boy 😆

Fik88 · 29/04/2024 14:21

Lovely scan @mrsbgb and so glad everything went well and your consultant isn't concerned.
Congratulations on the baby boy news @HRP1990
Love to buy second hand, I've bought quite a lot of clothes off vinted, also feel a bit addicted to looking 😂 we bought our furniture set second hand too and looks practically new. We are also getting gifted a cosatto travel system from a friend
