@ForeverHopeful67 congratulations!! We were convinced we were having a boy but are having a girl.. mind blowing 😅
My top boys names were Felix, Lennon (Lennie,) Floyd and Jude... but we're all such individuals and hate/like different things

Emmaev · 22/04/2024 17:45

Meant to have my consultant appointment at 14 weeks and it’s been pushed back to when I’m over 24 weeks. I developed pre eclampsia at 29 weeks last time so I’m sure they’re not too worried. Just me worrying as usual haha

Emmaev · 22/04/2024 17:47

@SpicyMoth congratulations what a beautiful scan photo!

I noticed the same with boys clothes, I did see some cute bits in next when I had a browse. Girls definately have more choice

FuppinNora · 22/04/2024 18:33

Had my 20 week scan and had nothing to worry about it. Baby is bouncing around. I have an anterior placenta so that explains not feeling as much movement. All looked well on the scan so far. Now I can start shopping again!!! A relief. I'm sure I'll find something else to worry about.

For those looking for bright boys or even unisex clothes maybe try out the littleone.ie . I think they deliver worldwide. I love the penguin one

HRP1990 · 22/04/2024 19:13

Congrats @SpicyMoth so pleased for you!

@WinsandSam Lennon is actually our top contender for a boy, we don’t know any and that’s the reason I love it!

@FuppinNora so glad to hear that 🥰 I’m intrigued to find the placement of my placenta at my scan on Weds

WinsandSam · 22/04/2024 19:14

@HRP1990 I don't know any Lennons either. Plus I do like the Beatles too. Lovely name. I need some new girl ones now

Cat2022 · 22/04/2024 19:29

@SpicyMoth we are the same having a boy and can’t agree on any names.

I bought a couple of things off vinted a while back as it was the boy version of the sleepsuits my daughter wore when she came home from the hospital and John Lewis don’t sell them anymore. I haven’t bought anything else yet although we don’t need any actual items just a few non pink clothes.

Our 20 week scan is tomorrow and I’m feeling a bit nervous. Devastatingly my SIL lost her baby at 2 days old due to post birth complications on Friday so we are in a lot of shock atm.

MrsM89 · 22/04/2024 19:36

@Cat2022 im so sorry. Your poor sil. What a horrible time for your family. Also must be so hard for you both currently. Xx

Xur · 22/04/2024 21:09

@SpicyMoth welcome to the boys club! 🧢 We have two things in common -we are having boys and we both can’t decide on names!! Well..now I have sort of decided, the father has other ideas, so I proposed to put my idea as first name and his as second name, but he wants his first. Needless to say I’m not letting him win.

A boy name that was on my list is Kurt, but my husband quickly binned it. I am also admiring Ernest, Axel, Arthas.

@Cat2022 omg Cat I am so sorry about your sister in law 🙁 this is to be honest the worst nightmare 😨 I don’t know to be honest, I’ve thought about these situations before and I have no idea how is it possible to ever recover from that.

I still have not bought anything yet, but I’m pretty sure we will buy most big things in the Baby show. I’m lowkey preparing to leave a couple of thousands there. Atleast a pushchair and a car seat….but knowing us we will do nearly all in one go.

SpicyMoth · 22/04/2024 21:26

@Emmaev TYSM!! I'll give Next a quick browse the next time I'm in town, ty for the suggestion! <3

Thanks also to @HRP1990 & @Cat2022 - Honestly Vinted/facebook Marketplace have been an absolute godsend for me! I'm so so sorry to hear about your SiL though! I can't even imagine the heartbreak... My thoughts are with your family Flowers

@Xur Honestly I don't think it would be nearly such a struggle with names for me if my DM hadn't given such visceral reactions the one and only boy name I liked!
I was really fond of Orson as I was a huge fan of that old Orson Welles radio broadcast of War of The Worlds, but the absolute grimace and comments she'd give whenever I mentioned it as a possibility has frankly spoilt it completely for me! 😩

I'm so eternally grateful for the help my DM has given me already (which is honestly SO much that I don't even think I need to really buy anything more) but she's so excited for her first grandchild that it's almost too much to handle.

I feel a bit left out sometimes and feel so guilty feeling this way, but as much as it's my first baby it's her first grandchild too - So I don't want to take that away from her.
Between that and her health the past few years I feel like a total bitch for feeling this way - Don't know if anyone else can relate but it's... Somethin' to say the least and certainly makes things like deciding on names etc a lot harder! 😖

Lillers · 22/04/2024 22:09

@SpicyMoth For me, my mum has been pretty chill, but my sister is really over the top with emotion about me being pregnant! She’s older than me and already has 2 daughters, but she’s honestly really overwhelming at times. Even to the point of insisting that she “knows” my baby is a girl even though we don’t know yet - she keeps referring to the baby as “she” and when I say we don’t know yet, it could be a boy, she’s really dismissive and know-it-all about how “we know she’s a girl!” I wanted a girl at first, but now I think I’d prefer a boy just so she doesn’t get all squealy and “I told you so” about it. I just want to be the one who gets to be excited about what I’m having, but it’s like there’s no room for my emotions because hers are so big.

Other people are exhausting.

@HRP1990 best of luck on Wednesday. Let us know how you get on.

@Cat2022 sorry for your loss, it must be really difficult, no one should have to go through that. I'm sure it is causing you a lot of anxiety.

MudandMoet · 23/04/2024 10:22

@Cat2022 what an awful and devastating time for your family right now. Every parents worst nightmare right there. It's so sad that we can go through all this emotion and worry for 9 months and then things like that still happen, so sad and I'm so sorry. I imagine it must be so difficult for you being pregnant and possibly having to see SIL sometime soon. Thinking of you and sending big big hugs 🤍

Cat2022 · 23/04/2024 12:37

@MudandMoet @FuppinNora @SpicyMoth @Xur @MrsM89

Thank you all for your messages. We are heading down to be with OHs family for a few days later this week.

I just had my scan and thankfully all okay but need to go back next week as they couldn’t see the cord.

longingtobe23 · 23/04/2024 12:57

@Lillers id say once you’ve found out

Keep it to yourself for a little while! Then process even if it’s 2-3 days haha I find that always helps me!
harder if you’re waiting until birth though!

I won’t be telling people I’m going into hospital I’ll be trying to keep that quiet for as long as hospital this time.
my in laws posted his arrival before I sodding did! Luckily no pics 😅😂

tryingfortwo2 · 23/04/2024 21:26

@Cat2022 I’m so sorry, sending my love to your family. My heart breaks for your SIL and her partner, I can’t even imagine what they’re going through just now. Glad all was okay with your scan♥️

@SpicyMoth congratulations! Bit random but I’ve found TU (sainsburys) clothes great for DD in terms of fit and washing well, and I was in there yesterday browsing for DD1 and bump/DD2 and noticed that the boys’ section was gorgeous! It’s all quite summery just now but so many lovely prints and patterns, really surprised me because like you say boy stuff seems way trickier. But maybe worth a wee look if you’re struggling!

Decaffe · 24/04/2024 05:18

I think I’ve got a chest infection Sad It started off last week as a sore throat in the mornings, progressed to being completely blocked up yet with with a persistent runny nose a couple of days ago, then yesterday it went on my chest and my asthma inhalers really weren’t touching the sides.

This morning I woke at 4am with a completely blocked nose and lungs that you can hear rattle when I breathe. I’ve not been back to sleep and I don’t think I’m going to. Again my inhalers aren’t helping much.

WIBU to cancel two meetings this morning to call the GP and hopefully get an appointment? I feel bad as they’re projects I’m leading on, lots of people involved and the meetings have been planned for a couple of months. But I’m tired and can’t breathe! 😞

Lillers · 24/04/2024 06:12

@Decaffe I don’t think that would be unreasonable at all. Think of it this way: would you be able to lead those meetings in a way that does justice to the work you’ve been doing on the projects while you’re feeling like this? Put your health first. I hope you can get an appointment and get on antibiotics asap!

WinsandSam · 24/04/2024 07:03

@Decaffe
Sounds like you're really poorly and do need to stay off work. Get yourself a gp app asap as you and baby are the priority.
I've been unwell with some cold thing for a week and a half. Completely blocked nose, sneezing, snotty, asthma keeps kicking off. I never use my inhaler anymore, for years really. During pregnancy I keep having to use it. Like I have an allergic reaction to something.

Good luck with the appt

HRP1990 · 24/04/2024 07:10

Oh @Decaffe@WinsandSam I’m coming down with exactly that! It started off as a little bit of a sore throat and then last night my nose was constantly running, so much it kept waking me up. I can feel start to feel a cough and headache coming on 😕 I’ll keep my inhalers at the ready.

Decaffe · 24/04/2024 09:05

Thanks for the support all, interesting that other asthmatics are feeling the same way? I thought at first it was hayfever.

I have cancelled the meetings with profuse apologies, and the GP has prescribed me antibiotics, and steroid tablets if I feel I need them. Going to try and have a nap now.

RosiePH · 24/04/2024 09:28

I had my midwife appointment yesterday. She confirmed the consultant I saw last week is ‘just like that’ so it sounds like he’s just very “let’s just get on with it” which my husband said is actually probably a good thing for me. She did say they don’t normally book c sections in until 36 weeks, so I’ve come away feeling a lot better because actually although I don’t feel we had a proper discussion, the consultant did clearly see how much it meant to me and did me a bit of a favour by booking in now and telling me the date.

My midwife would have got the Doppler out but she’d left it at the hospital for a repair so she couldn’t yesterday, which was a shame! Would have loved the extra reassurance!

I think I know why I still feel nauseous though and have been getting back headaches. My blood pressure is quite low. My normal BP is in the higher end of normal and usually shows as high in medical settings! But I guess low is better than high?!

HRP1990 · 24/04/2024 12:25

Baby is perfect and measuring on the bigger side! The sonographer confirmed I do have an anterior placenta but if I am concerned about movement to make sure I speak to someone as I should still be able to feel patterns etc.

We asked for the gender to be written down, so we’ll find out soon enough! Super happy!

longingtobe23 · 24/04/2024 12:47

I’m 19 weeks away today … and still in all my normal jeans for work and stepped on the scales to see I’ve still only gained 3lb (probs the pasta I ate last night) I am now starting to panic I’m doing something wrong or baby isn’t growing.

I long for an obvious sign if she started kicking regularly that would help but nothing yet - just the odd roll or sudden blip then nothing for a day or two. My belly does feel harder down there so that’s something.

Would it be wrong to get a private scan in now before my NHS one 😩 am I just being wasteful!? The anxiety is off the chart today.
