@tierneytarny is there anything particular making you feel sad today? I'm normally very chilled but I have to hold my hands up and say I have had a few low days too along the way and the things I'm lax with with the DH I've not been so lax and he's been told so I know it's hormones. Do you think it's just that too? Sending a huge hug xxx

tierneytarny · 21/04/2024 20:50

@MudandMoet Not really. Maybe just exhausted and hormones mixed it. Ready for today to be over and a new day tomorrow. Just have been a rubbish mum and wife today….very much in my own head.

Thanks for making me feel less alone in this. This pregnancy is a rollercoaster. Xx

WinsandSam · 21/04/2024 21:01

@tierneytarny I find my mental health is very up and down. Some days I cry a lot, feel really down and anxious. Nothing triggers it, I just cry. Then I can feel fine for a few days. I think it's hormones and worries about birth for me. Keep an eye on it and be kind to yourself x

Emmaev · 21/04/2024 21:02

@tierneytarny I get days like this, feel like I haven’t been the best mum to my DD. When I can barely get up from exhaustion. I find that when I would be due my period by hormones are everywhere I’m either sad or angry.
Thankfully partner and daughter are just amazing in every way and they just cuddle me when I get days like this.
I think anxiety around the pregnancy also plays a part in emotions.
Sending lots of love, I know how much it’s very up and down

Lillers · 21/04/2024 21:14

@tierneytarny You’re not alone. The reason I got sent home from work on Friday was because I was in tears in the Head’s office, and I just kept saying over and over again that I feel like I’m a complete waste of space. I’m useless at home, I’m useless at my job. The worst bit is that at the minute it’s not even hyperbole, it’s actually true.

What I have to keep reminding myself is that it’s ok to be useless at the minute. We’re doing something that is incredibly demanding - physically, mentally and emotionally. It is taking everything out of us and it goes on for a really long time - nearly a year! Nearly a year of being under incredible pressure all the time. No wonder we’re exhausted!

We’ll get through it. It’s ok to find it hard because it IS hard. But we can do hard things.

Thank-you all so much. I’ve cried reading your comments. I’m hoping I will wake up tomorrow a bit brighter. My husband has just brought up some food and insisted I eat something. Then I cried because he was being nice. It’s hard as I’m usually fairly level headed and I’ve not felt like this in pregnancy before. Fingers crossed just one of those days.

Xur · 21/04/2024 21:29

@tierneytarny if it makes you feel any better I have the absolute opposite, I’ve been snapped at by various people, all of them men in various situations in this pregnancy-all of them are have explained it with as caused by going through something.
Even my partner. Not sure why they all chose to explode on the only pregnant person around them and all of this has never happened before. I’ve not experienced this before. Makes me feel as if somehow after getting pregnant I’ve become less of a person and more of a vessel in the eyes of people. Makes me wonder.

tierneytarny · 21/04/2024 21:48

Oh @Xur - I’m so sorry you’ve had this! You poor thing. We’re doing an amazing thing - literally growing organs! People shouldn’t be snapping or shouting at you!

ForeverHopeful67 · 21/04/2024 22:37

@tierneytarny I'm with you - i had this Friday afternoon which completely took me by surprise seeing as I had my scan Friday morning and thought I'd be on cloud 9! Just couldn't step crying all afternoon couldn't shake it which is very out of character for me, but I can confirm I did feel much better over the weekend so I'm definitely blaming our crazy hormones - tomorrow is another day ☀️ x

Xur · 21/04/2024 22:50

Not sure which asshole came up with the phrase “men are the strongest gender”, but clearly had no clue. Women are proper titans, we can tank the shit out of pregnancy, post partum, while having full time jobs and growing and later raising kids, looking after the household (data shows in about 75% of households the whole looking after the household is still done by women alone).
We are okay to cut ourselves some slack ladies.
Sometimes it’s ok to not be okay.

Lillers · 22/04/2024 06:13

Woke up this morning with husband cuddling my bbhugme. Neither of us are sure how he got it off me in the night 😂

ForeverHopeful67 · 22/04/2024 07:39

Morning all, woke up this morning feeling really uncomfortable, tummy feels really hard and just bloated / uncomfortable, I don't think Braxton hicks as it isn't coming and going. Anyone else had this?

longingtobe23 · 22/04/2024 08:26

@Lillers 😂😂 love that they are so comfy !!

I have nicknamed mine the b*r blocker 🫥 because as soon as I’m led down cuddling it I just can’t fathom DTD … also TMI everyone but has anyone else experienced tightening and very hard tummy afterwards 🙈 it’s really off putting and I keep having a panic even though I know it’s doing nothing to baby.

and in a twisted way it helps remind me I am indeed actually pregnant because I still just have a blob of pouch, no real bump, no real pattern to movement or kicks just some rolling
and since my sickness disappeared it’s like I made the whole thing up - it’s also gotten to me this weekend.
i even tried to book a last minute scan to check there was still a baby in there 🥴

Xur · 22/04/2024 08:26

@ForeverHopeful67 where exactly does it hurt?
imagine your belly is a clock and belly button is 6 o’clock. Does it hurt under belly button or above?

mrsbgb · 22/04/2024 08:28

@ForeverHopeful67 I think I’ve been experiencing something very similar - it lasted for a few days last week with no let up so I went to the EPU for peace of mind, they said it’s essentially baby having a growth spurt and the muscles expanding quite rapidly. Woken up feeling similar today! Paracetamol helped, but if you’re worried do give your midwife a call x

ForeverHopeful67 · 22/04/2024 08:38

@Xur it's almost like a band completely across the top of my tummy about my bellybutton , more like pressure if that makes sense? Not exactly painful just uncomfortable like bad trapped wind.

@mrsbgb oooh that's good to know thank you! I do wonder if that's what it could be too, more muscle stretching / baby pushing up and sat in a higher position? Will take some paracetamol then may give my midwife a call if it doesn't shift!

Thanks ladies!

Xur · 22/04/2024 08:45

@ForeverHopeful67 I was about to say I think it might be air. When I have gas pains it’s usually accross. Sorry TMI, but I wake up to wee every night at least 2 times and every single time at night when I go a lot of air comes out. The only few times I hadn’t woken up to wee once I’m up I’m farting for England. So really my bet would be its wind. It’s supposed to be getting worse as we progress because the baby is pushing the bowels up and gas travels rougher.

Emmaev · 22/04/2024 09:00

I second gas pains @ForeverHopeful67 , in the first trimester I had the worst pains. Hardly any let up, just ate a lot of prunes and drank orange juice and once I had a bm it did pass.

It may also be stretching as mentioned, my ligament pain this time has been so much worse than with DD.

21 weeks today which is just craziness. We’ve seen baby girl moving in my belly last night as well. She’s having quite a party in there. I can only imagine how much she’ll be moving in the third trimester. Over half way through this pregnancy already !

Wanderlust86 · 22/04/2024 09:05

@ForeverHopeful67 Yes I know exactly what you mean. The past 5 days or so I've noticed I'm really uncomfortable in certain positions. I've been finding it hard to get to sleep as I can't find any comfy way to lie down. It's like I'm really bloated or feel so full even if I've not eaten much. My abdominal muscles are sore and I've been getting weird aches and pains. Anyway, I've been told by friends and colleagues that it's a big growth spurt time and it should settle down. I'm 21 weeks now.

I was reading the earlier chat about the baby and toddler show. We went to the one in Glasgow on Saturday and got the travel system we wanted for nearly £500 cheaper! We had the afternoon slot and it was packed from half 1 until about 3. You can barely look at anything as it's so busy and the sales people don't have a lot of time to speak to you because of the crowds. Once it quietened down though it was great and we got to see all our favourite ones in depth, pushed them around, put them up and down etc. Almost all of them were on some kind of offer and we got our favourite Nuna with the whole bundle for £800 rather than £1250.

It was also really useful to see all the different next to me cribs together to compare them all. I thought the Snuz pod was my least favourite but after playing around with them all its the one we are getting now.

Also addicted to buying second hand baby clothes on vinted. I have so much now and they are all practicality brand new.

WinsandSam · 22/04/2024 11:50

@ForeverHopeful67 yes, my stomach feels constantly solid and bloated. I'm full of trapped wind and feel huge (although not.) sometimes it effects my breathing which is also understandable. it's not painful, it uncomfortable more than anything.
Like @Xur said, we're full of wind and it seems to be getting more and more as the belly grows

ForeverHopeful67 · 22/04/2024 13:47

@Wanderlust86 @Emmaev @Xur thank you all! I think you may be right and perhaps it's just a mixture of uncomfortable trapped wind and growing pains as I'm almost 21 weeks too! - they joys and glamour of pregnancy eh ☺️

@Wanderlust86 also totally addicted to Vinted shopping for baby clothes 🙊

SpicyMoth · 22/04/2024 14:48

20 week scan today, was told we're having a boy!! (though I really didn't need telling from the size of the bollocks on him! 😂)

I am now however absolutely STUMPED for names.
I was so sure it was going to be a girl, and I hate every boy name I come across D:
Though I suppose we have until September to figure something out for him!
Any ideas?! (Any help would be appreciated, I've been through every baby name list many times over already D: )

ForeverHopeful67 · 22/04/2024 15:37

@SpicyMoth eeeeek congratulations! How exciting - glad everything went well!
I was exactly the same, so sure I was having a girl but it was most definitely ( and very obviously!) a boy! 🩵 and totally stuck for boys names I don't like any 🤣

I'm not sure if it's just me being fussy but I also started looking at boys clothes and there is so much less choice than for girls!

I COMPLETELY agree re; less choice for boy clothes - I wanted a wee celebrate in Asda but it was all just so... Beige? That plus maybe the tiniest bit of navy blue - Bugger all vibrancy!
It was super disappointing!!

EDIT; I'm neck deep in a bacon and egg sandwich right now and managed to completely neglect to say thank you SO much for the congrats!!
I'm an absolute state atm, ravenously hungry - my sincerest apologies! 😅😅
