@Cinai absolutely no need for a nursery straight away. Our nursery is so small we wont be doing anything like feeding etc in there anyway. Just storing clothes and things. You might find by 6 months old they grow out of the bedside cot if that's what you choose to use then you would need a normal sized cot for your bedroom instead.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 20/04/2024 14:04

@Cinai Nope not necessary at all! They spend the first 6 months in with you anyway, all our nursery was used for was sleeping and the wardrobe for clothes. I didn't even have a changing table in ours as we always changed the baby downstairs on a changing mat, was much less hassle whipping a mat out and doing it there and then, esp if they're dripping in sick or a poonami! And me/my partner used to feed downstairs in the night too so we didn't disturb each other so we could get solid blocks of sleep

Hey everyone, the scan went well. Baby is still fine, not affected at all by this week’s drama. I know I’d seen him/her on the basic scanner in A&E, but in my head so much could have happened since then that I was really worried. They haven’t been able to determine the cause of the bleeding, but were able to rule out even more things, so basically we’re left with, “It happened for some reason.” I feel like I can start looking forward to the 20 week scan again now! Not until 10th May, but we can start planning the fun stuff again now. We did ask if she’d be able to tell us the sex, but she said she specialises in complications with the uterus so wouldn’t know what she’s looking for. We didn’t believe her really but accepted that she didn’t want to let us know (she probably gets asked all the time) so we’ll wait as we were going to anyway!

Thanks so much for all the kind wishes and good thoughts - I’m still in the September club!

So pleased to hear that @Lillers!

SC126 · 20/04/2024 14:52

@Lillers great news!

WinsandSam · 20/04/2024 14:55

@Lillers that's the most amazing news!! So pleased for you as have been thinking about you daily. You can celebrate now with a glass of..... May orange juice 😅😅

WinsandSam · 20/04/2024 14:57

@Cinai we have a box room so will be tiny and won't fit much apart from wardrobe and chest of drawers. Don't worry about not having the space! Baby will be in your room so all you need is storage.
I'll buy a play mat I can get out and fold away for lounge to save the rug from any poos or sicks 😅

BadLobster · 20/04/2024 15:43

Great news @Lillers - been thinking of you!

RachSmile · 20/04/2024 16:10

Has anyone else been to one of these baby&toddler shows before? We went to the one in Glasgow today and oh my goodness, it felt so stressful! Wanted to have a proper look at prams but the place was so busy could barely get near the ones we wanted, and the staff there didn’t actually seem too fussed on pushing any sales as we were basically ignored as they stood and chatted with each other 🙈 glad I got free tickets or I’d have been a bit put out as we didn’t stay long!

BadLobster · 20/04/2024 16:13

@RachSmile we were going to go to the Glasgow one today, but we had to go and look at some houses instead (trying to move before September!). I saw it advertised before the tickets were free and was thinking how raging I’d be if I’d paid £40 for two tickets!

RachSmile · 20/04/2024 16:15

@BadLobster Yeah I think I got it free through the Emma’s Diary app a couple of weeks back! £15 entry on the door today as well

RosiePH · 20/04/2024 16:17

@RachSmile ah good to know! I’ve been debating booking the Birmingham one in May. I saw they were going to be selling Tripp Trapp chairs with a discount so was hoping to get one and also try out lots of other bits and maybe some talks. But we’d have to go on the Saturday and I bet that’s the busiest day.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 20/04/2024 16:33

@Lillers great to hear!

rupertbear91 · 20/04/2024 16:38

@RachSmile we are going to the Manchester one at the start of June. I managed to persuade my OH to leave his golf holiday a day early to go 😂

RachSmile · 20/04/2024 17:18

@RosiePH yeah we went to the morning slot and it was very busy! So just be prepared 😂 there was a talk on when we were passing and people were standing at the back of the area as there wasn’t enough seats for it!

@rupertbear91 haha I’m sure he was thrilled! my OH was golfing last weekend so he had no excuse not to do baby stuff with me this weekend 😂

Xur · 20/04/2024 17:33

@RosiePH is there a link to the event I could get? I was planning on going to Birmingham for some baby shopping in May.

SpicyMoth · 20/04/2024 17:40

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 20/04/2024 09:35

Thought I'd add to the bump pics! 18 weeks today for me. I seemed to have a bigger bump at this point with DS!

I feel like when I look down at my stomach I feel much bigger than what I look like when I take a pic 😂 I looked back on my 40 week pregnant pic with DS and realised how much more growing I have to come 😂

Awhh stunner!! Look at you! <3 Beautiful!!

MudandMoet · 20/04/2024 17:46

We've been baby shopping today! It was so exciting to be getting that list crossed off. We've ordered the Silver Cross reef ultimate package in Earth. I didn't originally want to spend so much on a pram but the quality felt amazing alongside some of the others we liked and it's not like I'm ever going to get to do this again. We also got the mamas and papa's leaf items for the nursery and the mam bottles and steriliser kit. Eeeek!!

If anyone is near Sheffield I can't recommend The Baby Store on Hayland Rd enough, super super lovely and helpful (we were messing about with the prams for ages) and they have every design and colour to try plus tons of nursery/home items upstairs.

Xur · 20/04/2024 18:05

@RosiePH I bought tickets to the Birmingham event 🤩

I know I’ve been living under a rock but I didn’t even know such events existed in the first place. For someone like me who dreads to think of where to begin the shopping and I have no intel on what I need and what is good..such events are perfect.

longingtobe23 · 20/04/2024 19:55

@Cinai i also highly agree with this no need to rush into their room.
i suppose with my first I missed the baby room stage we were waiting to move into our first home and he got his own room at 8 months and then lots of hand me down furniture as the rest of the house was priority 🙈! He finally got an upgrade and decorated at about 2 years old!

So I guess I’m only getting ready in advance as I’m being over prepared and know it’s my last so want to soak it all up! I will keep baby with me until 6 months minimum maybe more. ☺️

ForeverHopeful67 · 20/04/2024 21:45

Just catching up on all the messages and also relate to those saying I couldn't imagine being anything but a girl mum... well after the shock of a life time finding out we're having a boy I now have 7 boxes of girls clothes that I've saved from my daughter that need to go to the charity shop 🤣

We also are super struggling to find any boys names we like! But excited to start baby boy shopping! 😜

Funny enough @Xur I have my eyes on that exact sleep suit you pictured below 🤣 I love a good JoJo Maman bebe sleep suit! - also any sleep suits with zips = heaven!!

Emmaev · 21/04/2024 09:33

I have to say I am hating having an anterior placenta. Baby girl must have moved, every morning for the last week I’ve felt her tapping away and this morning nothing. It’s so hard not to worry. I know she’s still super tiny and movements aren’t consistent until later, plus with the position of my placenta. I just wanna know she’s ok in there, feel like now I’m waiting until 24 weeks and the pregnancy is viable. I don’t want to wish this pregnancy away as it’s my last, but the anxiety this time is intense

Lillers · 21/04/2024 10:30

Watching some of the London Marathon footage this morning and super nostalgic! So I’ve been researching how soon postpartum I can run long distance again. I’ve run the LM twice before and was meant to run Brighton this year, and would love to be one of those super mums who can run a marathon again a few months after giving birth, but if I’ve learned one thing in pregnancy it’s that I cannot predict how my body will handle any of these major life changes! So I’m going to step away from marathon research and possibly just book a couple of halfs in for next Spring and if they go well, maybe look at an Autumn marathon next year.
