@TripleESept24 same, 19 weeks today! My app is saying baby is the size of a mango - which is what I had for breakfast which feels a bit cruel somehow 😂 nearly halfway there! Due date is my own birthday so sort of hoping baby is a little early or late!

What app do you use? Mine says a pineapple! Lol

mrsbgb · 19/04/2024 12:01

@TripleESept24 Mango is according to Flo but I’ve got pregnancy plus as well - their comparisons with animals freaks me out a bit though! Still not over baby being compared with a blackbird a few weeks ago 😂

HRP1990 · 19/04/2024 12:19

Congratulations on all the boys!! 💙

I can’t remember who posted it but I’m just about to tuck into a toasted prosciutto sandwich 🤌🏻 thanks for the inspo!

@MudandMoet they’re quite pricey, but Nine The Label have some amazing maternity jumpsuits and dresses. They are designed from pregnancy and beyond, so you can wear them after baby too. I have 2 and can vouch for how great they are!

Xur · 19/04/2024 12:34

@TripleESept24 @mrsbgb bounty app says beef tomato 😂

@MudandMoet ohh the belly has definitely POPPED! 🤩

congrats to all the ladies with the positive scans 🎉
@SantasRubiksCube don’t be discouraged, please. I’m pretty sure if there would be something wrong she would have said. From what the sonographer said to me yesterday the first they look at is the strength of the beat, the rhythm, the vascularities and the chambers and I think it’s the chambers for which they want the side angle to be able to see it well. That is probably why you’re asked to come back again.
Please don’t worry, you’ll get to see your baby again in a few days time!

rupertbear91 · 19/04/2024 12:59

Thanks for the advice everyone.

More pregnancy joy for me today... the antisickness injection from the hospital had made me really constipated a few weeks ago and it was pretty painful but thankfully had resolved this week until this morning when a load of blood arrived with my bowl movement. Definitely from back end as I panicked thinking it was from baby so guessing it's caused haemaroids 😫 hoping to avoid a doctors trip and treat myself 🤦🏽‍♀️

Emmaev · 19/04/2024 13:05

Has anyone has an anterior placenta before? When did you all start feeling proper kicks?

I am feeling flutters, but definitely not as strong as when I had DD

RosiePH · 19/04/2024 13:12

Got a date for my c-section! 23rd September. Literally no resistance whatsoever from the consultant. I was in the appointment for less than 5 minutes. They were overrunning by over an hour and I ended up getting bumped to a different consultant than planned so I’ve no idea who I even saw and there was no-one else in the room. It was a bit strange really and hasn’t actually left me feeling as reassured as I’d like to be - maybe because I didn’t particularly warm to the consultant?!

He asked me why I’d been referred. I explained about a prior surgery and the risks I’d read about with vaginal births and this surgery, and he said okay if you’re sure. And then booked it in there and then. He then wrote it on a piece of paper for me.

When I handed the reception team my form to come back at 36 weeks to sign the paperwork, they looked really confused when I said he just booked me a c-section. And then I showed them the piece of paper and they were kind of surprised! They said he’d sort the letter out for that probably as I asked if I would get something a bit more formal to confirm the booking?!

Came out feeling really strange about the whole thing! Wish I’d got to see the original consultant as she seemed really nice when I saw her collecting other people for their appointment.

SC126 · 19/04/2024 13:17

@Emmaev anterior here and starting feeling kicks around 18 weeks but this is a second pregnancy too. They ain't super strong but I can definitely feel them as obvious kicks if that makes sense. Also with anterior it can take until 24 weeks to really feel them but if you have flutters then hopefully they get much stronger for you soon enough!

@RosiePH ohh a date! I was under the impression I wouldn't get a date until only a few weeks beforehand. I have a consultant appointment end of may and now I'm hoping I get a date that day as it would be nice to plan a little more especially as it might fall when my son goes back to school!. When's your due date? I've heard they will do it around the 39 week mark.

Emmaev · 19/04/2024 13:35

@SC126 im 20+4 now so hopefully soon, she’s definitely twirling around in there, not that I can feel it much haha. I had a fundal placenta with DD so by now I could pretty regularly feel her. The sonographer did say that everything is cushioned right now so not to panic if I don’t feel her as much at this stage. Doesn’t stop me from worrying though

Xur · 19/04/2024 13:38

@rupertbear91 I have it aswell. Have had this issue for the whole duration of the pregnancy. 😭 I was shocked at first but now I am used to it. Read a thread about someone having intense pains during their pregnancy and ended up being severe varicose veins in the vagina. I’d take haemorrhoids over that any day….so I’m not fixing to complain.

GentleCat · 19/04/2024 13:58

@Khanga27 I had the exact same symptoms a few weeks ago, stabby pains below the belly button, ended up speaking to the consultant about it, it's not round ligament pain she said it is muscular - Diastasis recti, so effectively the muscles there starting to spread - doesn't happen to everyone but the advice was to take it easy and try to avoid the activities that trigger the pain(it happened to me while swimming). It occurred on and off for about a week, then nothing for a couple of weeks, now this week it's happened a little when moving in bed, along with me definitely starting to have a visible bump. Hopefully that helps, I was pretty freaked out by it at the time.

Cat2022 · 19/04/2024 14:00

@Emmaev i had an anterior last time and there can be varying degrees. Mine was fully across the front last time so if I’m honest I didn’t feel clear movement throughout but I think from around 21 weeks there was a pattern to what I was feeling.

I have an anterior this time but it’s only covering the right side so I have been feeling some kicks and movement on my left side since 16.5 weeks.

RosiePH · 19/04/2024 14:26

@SC126 my due date is the 29th September, so it’s booked for 39+1. Closest Monday to 39 weeks! There was no-one else on the list that day so far.

I don’t think it’s the normal experience to be told this early! I’m wondering if that’s why the reception team were so confused. And I’m wondering if that’s why he wrote it down on paper and told me to take a photo because actually they won’t send a letter until August.

I bet they book them all in at the time of request, but then shuffle the list closer to the day. And don’t want to tell people when it will be until they’ve shuffled.

It was all a bit bizarre though. He didn’t cover any of the risks and benefits. I thought he’d tell me a bit more about the process. Not just okay, well turn up at this ward at 7.30am.

Does anyone who has had an ELCS before know whether you will see the same consultant you had your appointments with? Or whether you get allocated whoever is available on the day?

SpicyMoth · 19/04/2024 14:45

Obligatory bump pictures! 💖💛💙
I seem to have ballooned over the last 2 days or so as I hadn't really been "showing" at all other than just looking like I'd gained some weight!
(Though frankly, I've been eating like a HORSE)

I have my gender scan on Monday - Gahhh I'm so excited but also super nervous - I really didn't think I had a preference but now the date is getting closer and closer I'm starting to think maybe I do because I'm really struggling to find any names I like for one gender, but have loads picked out for the other! D:

Anyone have any helpful tips/advice for not getting hopes up one way or the other?!
I'd hate to have the day soured with guilt by my own stupid pointless disappointment - healthy is all that really matters! 😫

YellowZ · 19/04/2024 15:02

All good with the scan. We're having a girl! ☺️ And a very wriggly one too.

September 2024 - Thread 6! 🐣🧡💛❤️
Lillers · 19/04/2024 15:07

@SpicyMoth Not advice exactly, but I found both me and DH leaning towards one sex, and so I’ve actively been looking for reasons to be excited about the other. I’m now worried I’ve swayed myself too far and am now going to be disappointed if it’s the original one I wanted 😂. But I can honestly hand on heart say I’m just desperate for it to be healthy, especially after the drama of this week!

@RosiePH This is my first so I don’t know the process of ELCS firsthand, but my sister didn’t have the same consultant. She was really relieved because the first one she had told her that a CS would be really dangerous for her because of a medical condition she has, and she was really traumatised by the conversation because she said even if she had a vaginal birth something could go wrong and she could end up having an emergency CS, and was she supposed to go into that believing she was going to die and leave her children motherless, which is what this guy told her. She was distraught when she saw the midwife, who referred her to a different consultant who told her that the first consultant was talking crap and there was absolutely no evidence that it would be any more risky than a vaginal birth for her. On the day she had a different person again. Also just an FYI, she was booked in for 9am, told to get there for 8am so she would be ready, and all day she kept getting bumped for emergencies. Ended up going in around 6pm! So hopefully that won’t happen to anyway who gets booked in here, but worth being prepared with something to keep you occupied just in case.

@Lillers I went through the exact same thing - was hoping for a boy (although wouldn't have mattered either way), but to avoid 'disappointment' then convinced myself it was a girl. We had a private scan a few weeks ago and he is a boy, so then I was sad about the girls names we can't use 😂

Congratulations @YellowZ!

They are all so different!!! A beef tomato and a pineapple are VERY different!!!! Mine is the Phillips pregnancy app, it measures baby crown to heel

All good with the scan. We're having a girl! ☺️ And a very wriggly one too.

Congrats another girl, ours is a wriggler too!! Can't wait to see her again a week on Tuesday, I'll be 20+4 🩷

YellowZ · 19/04/2024 16:20

Thanks @mrsbgb and @TripleESept24 I'm very pleased, nice to have one of each

Lillers · 19/04/2024 16:20

Finally been booked in for the scan after the bleeding episode! Tomorrow at 11.30am. Nearly a week after I went to A&E, but I am SO grateful.

Good luck @Lillers I bet it's all fine 🙂but will keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

MudandMoet · 19/04/2024 17:14

@YellowZ ahh congratulations 💕💕💕

@RosiePH not with ELCS with I'm kinda feeling the same. With my consultant on Wednesday we both agreed a week early for me to be induced and he was tapping it all in on his computer and now I'm in a strange place thinking .. so am I due now on the 21st and not the 28th August ? Like what happens now, is it assumed I'll just tip up at the hospital on the 21st and it'll all happen ? I'll see him again in around 6 weeks and I can't wait to ask more questions about it all if I'm honest.

cd24x · 19/04/2024 17:20

@emmaev 18+2 and anterior placenta here and getting whooshing/twirls. No real kicks yet though. MW said same as @SC126 - could be up to 24 weeks before I feel kicks regularly.

@MudandMoet @SpicyMoth lovely bump pics!

@Lillers glad you finally got a scan appointment. Hopefully you will get some answers xx

I've finally bitten the bullet and taken a bump pic. Funnily enough I started my bump pics at 18 weeks with DS too. A massive difference between the two though! Red jumper is 18 weeks with DS and black is today with baby #2
