@Xur that’s the one 😂 I don’t even want it cooked, I just had it as a condiment with supper tonight. Can’t wait to see what I think of it once baby has arrived in October!

Lillers · 18/04/2024 22:27

@mrsbgb @Xur Fish sauce was banished from my house long before I even got pregnant - that smell just lurks around for days! 😂

@mrsbgb I find that funny 😂 well but I can’t really say nothing cos I was eating plain buckwheat last night 😂

Im am a bit weird one though. Does anyone else go into maccies at breakfast to have the porridge and pancakes or just me?? 😂 it’s ridiculous cos I can make this at home, but I’m wanting the maccies ones and best part of this is…I’m not even interested in anything else they have, just the porridge and pancakes 😂

Lillers · 19/04/2024 08:04

Decided to go back to work today. Lasted 10 minutes before the Head sent me home again. I know I complain about my school sometimes, but I am lucky to have a HT who really does care.

@Lillers ah great they aren't messing you around and sending you home if you're clearly unwell.

It's my 20wk scan today (I'm 20+5) very excited to find out if we're having a boy or a girl.

mrsbgb · 19/04/2024 08:19

@Xur at least you’re going for something pretty healthy at McD’s! All I wanted in the first trimester was chicken selects or (so strange) completely plain hamburgers from Burger King. I look back at my nutrition and honestly it’s a miracle the baby is still going strong 😂

@Lillers how are you feeling? Pleased your work is looking after you!

@YellowZ hope it goes well, so exciting! 💙💕

ForeverHopeful67 · 19/04/2024 08:30

@YellowZ me too! Feeling both excited and nervous!
Mine is this morning thank god so not much longer to wait! 🥹

Also does anyone know what the expected weight gain should be by 20 weeks? My appetite had picked up and I feel like I can't stop eating lately 🤦‍♀️😩

Jojod12 · 19/04/2024 08:33

Just on the love to dream swaddles I have heard mixed reviews. There are lots of mums who rave about the swaddles but then there's also a lot of negative reviews on tiktok about them saying they go over the baby's head while sleeping and the zip is an issue under their chin. I think you have to get the sizing spot on otherwise there's concerns of suffocation by what I've read. I'd recommend having a look on tik tok and seeing what mums are saying.

I'm still going to buy one to try and just watch the baby in in to see how it fits on him. If I even attempted to swaddle the old fashion way it would be a disaster!

Xur · 19/04/2024 08:50

@YellowZ @ForeverHopeful67 good luck today!!

weight gain should be 200g per week, which is then less than a kilo a month. But I also read a source that said the fat that we picked up in first trimester is now being used by the body to form fat on the baby starting weeks 20+. Until now our babies are skin, cartilage, blood and guts, but from week 19 (or 20) apparently the cartilage starts growing into bone and then also the fat starts forming. So that is apparently part of where the baby weight and belly size increase comes into force from like 22-24 weeks onwards. Apparently that is why all the grow charts focus on week 24+.

TripleESept24 · 19/04/2024 09:31

19 weeks today 🥰 ! Hoping I start to feel better over the weekend 😪

My midwife said it’s expected to put on up to around 2.5kg by week 13.

Then from week 13 until due date to expect to put on a further 7.5kg-10kg.

So for where we are now that’s an expected gain of around 0.3-0.35kg per week. 😊

Edit to add - it also depends on your BMI at the start of pregnancy. If it was 30+ then weight gain from week 13 onwards should be 0.2kg per week - that’s according to the BDA.

Emmaev · 19/04/2024 09:54

I’ve also had cravings for spicy foods, followed by an ice lolly!

Hope the scans go well today girls! Finding out the gender is so exciting

mrsbgb · 19/04/2024 09:54

@TripleESept24 same, 19 weeks today! My app is saying baby is the size of a mango - which is what I had for breakfast which feels a bit cruel somehow 😂 nearly halfway there! Due date is my own birthday so sort of hoping baby is a little early or late!

Khanga27 · 19/04/2024 10:05

Think (hope) I’m having round ligament pain. Woke up in night and it felt like a stabby but very bearable pain in one small area just below and to the right of my belly button. Having it very on-off. Anyone else had this?

YellowZ · 19/04/2024 10:23

@ForeverHopeful67 good luck! Mine is this afternoon.

I've put on 4kg so far, which I thought was quite a lot, but that's ...200g a week! ☺️Wow well done body.

SC126 · 19/04/2024 10:24

I'm craving ice. In any form. I would definitely go through the maccies drive through just for a coke! I also craved ice in my previous pregnancy and during that summer I drank so many slushies!
My diet has been so unhealthy but if it makes me happy and gets me through the pregnancy then I'll worry about it at a later date.

Xur · 19/04/2024 10:34

I put on 7kg in the first trimester. I was 54-55 on week 5 of the pregnancy and two weeks ago I was 62kg. Last days I noticed my tights don’t look as chubby as earlier, but my weight hasn’t changed and my belly is growing. So I think the whole baby growing is really a symbiosis of taking some on+utilising the reserve.

Thank you ladies 🥰

Just got back from our scan, baby is looking all good, healthy, 12oz currently, and 2 days ahead of due date, and is a.... BOY! 💙 so surprised! But over the moon my daughter will be gaining a baby brother 💕

rupertbear91 · 19/04/2024 10:53

Congrats on the scans everyone.

On the subject of swaddles/sleep bags.... our house is old and isn't that warm and I was going to order some baby sleep bags at a 2.5 tog so they don't get cold that night ... is there a downside to these as opposed to a swaddle?

Emmaev · 19/04/2024 10:59

All this talk of maccies im gonna have to get drive through later, it’s a sign!

Amazing news on the scan @ForeverHopeful67 our baby girl was also 12oz right in the middle

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 19/04/2024 11:19

@SC126 Reading this whilst currently crunching on a blue raspberry ice pop! I was the same with my first too I always wanted ice. Did you have low iron in your first pregnancy? I read craving ice can be a sign of low iron and I had to be put on iron tablets my first pregnancy so I'm wondering if I'm getting low iron again!

@ForeverHopeful67 congratulations! That's wonderful 🩵

SC126 · 19/04/2024 11:30

@BeautyAndTheBump1 ohh I did have low iron in my pregnancy! Maybe this is a thing then.

@rupertbear91 sleepbags are fine but can only be used from a certain weight. My eldest son was a bigger baby and so he went into the sleeping bags about a week after he was born but if you have smaller baby then you might find it could be a month or something before you can use the sleeping bags. The weight is usually on the packaging so have a look before buying.

Cat2022 · 19/04/2024 11:36

@rupertbear91 the only other thing I found with sleep bags in winter is their arms can feel cold but you do get ones that have long sleeves so since the time of year we are due I’d look into those. We actually had a 3.5 tog one for winter but by then she was 8 months old so I wouldn't have used that on a younger baby.

SantasRubiksCube · 19/04/2024 11:45

Just wanted to add a post to say another one here for team boy 💙 😁 everything looked good and healthy, but have to go back for another scan in 10 days as baby was in an awkward position and they couldn't get full measurements of the heart. I did worry at first but they assured me from everything they could see it looked fine and DH said if they were really concerned they would of done more then just say come back in 10 days so trying to not let it play on my mind.

MudandMoet · 19/04/2024 11:49

@Xur that explains why my bump is most definitely bumping. I suddenly look very pregnant at 21+2

I've got to be honest and say I'm still absolutely appalled by the maternity clothes ranges available. It's proving difficult to find anything remotely decent that doesn't make me feel old the minute I put it on. I think there's such a gap in the market for maternity wear. It's all so samey samey out there, anyone agree or is it just me?

💙 @ForeverHopeful67 one of each, lovely news 💙

@rupertbear91 I've ordered the mamas and papas 'leaf' sleeping bag for baby as thats what we're doing the nursery in. I'm hoping it's still going to be warm for a few week after baby is due so will be the right weight when needed. Swaddling is probably great for babies but freaks me out slightly so I won't be trying it.
