I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

Ooo love this idea ladies! Added mine on below!

Also does anyone have days where they feel like they are getting ill, but then it passes? Can't tell if I'm coming down with something or if I just need to rest!

@Nocoffeenotalkie Nocoffeenotalkie- due date 22nd July (but not allowed past 39 weeks - 15th July) 🩷
@Morningcoffeeaddict Morningcoffeeaddict - due 23rd July (also not passing 39w - 16th July) 💛

@CB2805
I don't know, it seemed like a lot. I don't really have a healthy weight chart guide. I should find one.
I won't be surprised if I reach 20+ pounds by the time I reach 20 weeks. All this time there was no sign of the baby and all of a sudden it's growing like crazy.
Do you think it has to do with bloating as well? I get what you mean, it would be difficult if you're petite..

@missmoosh
Do you mean ill like a cold? I find that long naps (during the day because which pregnant woman can properly sleep at night) help with almost every symptom I have from gastric issues to headaches. If I could, I would just let the pregnancy go by while I was sleeping, lol!
So yeah, try resting and hydrating as much as you can.
Although lately, I've been having the wildest dreams. I dreamt that my brother was a 5yo assassin last night. He's 27.

missmoosh · 23/02/2024 14:13

@ceruleansky yeah like a cold, you know the day before they fully strike. And you feel a bit more tired/achey and just generally like you may be getting ill lol. Had that feeling all day today and actually had a decent night's sleep last night!
I shall just take it easy for the day!

Also weight wise I stopped weighing myself very early on, sure I have gained a fair amount as I live of junk food for the majority of the time! But I know it would be massively triggering to me, and I would end up restricting calories which isn't advised during pregnancy! Like to think what I don't know, can't hurt me! if you are a normal bmi anything from 25-35lbs gain is considered normal and I have read for some a lot of that comes on all at once and then evens out, and for others a more gradual increase, so I wouldn't worry about it 😊

Samszie · 23/02/2024 14:39

Hi everyone,

Regarding weight, I've only gained one pound after losing 13 in the first trimester. Not sure if I'm gaining enough, but I started overweight and so far, my care team hasn't said anything. There is this website for weight that I found pretty helpful www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

I'm currently 19+3, having my 20 week scan in early March. Hopefully everything is good with baby boy, had a slightly stressful time after falling last week (midwife said baby is good though and I've been feeling him in the last few days, phew).

After the scan, we can finally start on the nursery and planning the baby shower, so I'm really excited for that!

Nocoffeenotalkie · 23/02/2024 15:32

I have gained LOTS! Before pregnancy I was fasting until lunch eating lunch and dinner then no food after 7pm as I was trying to lose weight. I had lost 2 stone but was still over BMI.
I have gained a stone already and am only 18+4! With my first I (11 years ago) gained about 20lbs altogether. Feel like I'm going to overtake that this time! I am 41 so not sure if that has played a part in my more rapid gain or the fact I now am eating from wake up time... definitely eating more carbs still.

Jess725 · 23/02/2024 15:37

@Bali200 lol at your dream! I like that you had a little excitement at the scan even though you knew!

ohhh three girls due on the 8th 💖💖💖 super cute

Wonder how many more due date buddies with the same gender will appear over the next few weeks as more 20 week scans come in…

Has anyone else started considering birthing options? I’m considering an elective C- section. Am I crazy?! My midwife booked me in with a consultant next week to discuss further. I think I fear the unknown. 😟

Nocoffeenotalkie · 23/02/2024 17:42

@Lisao86 my consultant and midwife have already asked me re:birth choices. I am not allowed past 39 weeks and have refused induction opting for ELC if I get that far. I had EMCS after a 36 hour labour with DD1 and do not want to be put to sleep for this birth.
My consultant is keen for me to consider VBAC but my midwife didn't seem to mind either way. The consultant gave me a VBAC Vs ELC info sheet to look at before my next appointment with her.

missmoosh · 23/02/2024 17:56

I always thought I would want an elective c-section, but have changed my mind since being pregnant lol. Though that is mainly to do with health conditions and having some rotten experiences post surgery the last few times... They didn't stitch me up properly and I woke up at home the following day, in a pool of my own blood! So I have some trauma around surgery now lol

plantlover34 · 23/02/2024 18:18

@missmoosh that is completely understandable!

@Lisao86 I am also looking at an ELCS, my mum had an awful experience with both her births, tearing, days of pain etc. (and she really went on about it to me as a kid!) and I'm not keen to experience the same thing, I'm also not comfortable with any of the induction methods and wouldn't want any of the 'cascade of interventions' they can lead to. But I think it's different for everyone, you have to weigh the pros and cons for you.

wannabe123 · 23/02/2024 18:21

@Lisao86 I'm hoping for a VBAC. I have an appointment with a midwife at the hospital in a few weeks time to discuss it all.

AnonymousXXIX · 23/02/2024 19:23

I'd really love a water birth but we moved this year and my new hospital doesn't do those 😭I have no idea yet what a good alternative is. So far all I have thought of is... stay at home in my own bath as long as possible before transferring to hospital... and then... ???? Not a great plan at all lol. (I wouldn't do a home birth as we're 45 mins from hospital.)

Last time things went totally tits up because I had an epic 3-day labour (over 24 hours of active labour) that did involve a half day in a bath in hospital at one point (which was great) but then evolved to every intervention possible and ended with forceps. I would be absolutely gutted if I had to have a c-section this time because I am somehow determined it can't really get worse than last time so I really want a chance for it to go better 😂 Is that ridiculous? Don't answer that haha.

we are going to not find out the sex of the baby…unless it makes itself obvious in the 20w scan next week 😂

CMRC17 · 23/02/2024 21:23

Hi all! Not posted in a while. But pleased to announce my 20 week scan went fine and I’m having a baby boy!
adding to this , hope I’m doing it right:

CMRC17 · 23/02/2024 21:31

To add, I have felt movements since about 18 weeks but did have a period of 2/3 days recently where I didn’t feel much at all and it worried me quite a bit. But that’s back to normal now and I’m feeling some crazy crazy movements over the last couple of days! I’ve had a Chinese tonight and the baby is going crazy in there haha.
it seems fairly normal to have a few quiet days at this stage :) also, I have found that the movements are so much more noticeable when I’m at home alone on the sofa or in bed. If I’m out and about I rarely feel strong movements.

regarding birthing choices I feel a bit in the dark with this, is it normal to have a proper chat with your midwife about the options? My midwife has been pretty terrible from the start to be honest and so I don’t know if it’s something I’ve missed or maybe something that just isn’t done. I haven’t done a lot of research but I do like the idea of a c section as there isn’t as much ‘unknown’ and from what I have heard it can be a lot less stressful. However I think that’s probably a controversial opinion! What makes my choice a bit harder is that I’ve had scoliosis surgery on my spine and so I’m not fully sure if I can have an epidural. I’ve been asking about this at all my appointments so far and I’ve not had a clear answer but I’m going to try and get some information next week so I can make a bit more of a plan.

don’t know if anyone else has had this but my sonographer also said she’s booking me for a 36 week scan as my placenta looks a bit low (I think)? Depending on the placement of it at 36 weeks I may need a c section. Which I guess would solve my indecisiveness pretty quickly!

CB2805 · 24/02/2024 01:03

@ceruleansky yes I 100% believe it’s mostly bloating! Even tho my bump showed up last week it still looks “puffy” rather than round pregnancy bump if that make sense? Also I see a massive difference morning vs evening bump

Morningcoffeeaddict · 24/02/2024 07:56

@Lisao86 - I’m having an elective c-section. Consultant tentatively suggested we talk about birth options at 16week appointment and honestly looked a bit relieved that I’d already made my mind up. I’m also not allowed past 39 weeks and wouldn’t want an induction plus my BP / past pre-eclampsia is a risk factor with induction anyway I think? I had an emergency section last time with a preemie but the consultant was fantastic and I have the same one again this time so I’m confident about the section being a positive experience.

also with past experience pregnancy can be such a minefield for me and I’m going to be so anxious from 28weeks on that knowing it’s a section and she’ll be my consultant no matter what is calming for me.

ExpectantEs · 24/02/2024 09:20
