@RobynC28 @lpylou

To be fair it's an obvious bump now. I have been in maternity clthesbfor weeks!

Fullofconfusion · 15/03/2024 15:56

I had what should have been my 12 week scan today. I thought I was about 11 weeks trying to work my dates out but doctors had me at 12. Well we’re both wrong!

Scan has dated me at just under 9 weeks so I need to go back as can’t get measurements or do the blood tests for screening yet. My cycles have been really long so I’m not totally surprised as I thought I may possibly only be 10 weeks but I wasn’t expecting 9. Feels like I’ve been pregnant forever already.

On the plus side we got a cheeky extra scan and baby is definitely in there with a good strong heartbeat 💗

cm3212 · 15/03/2024 16:06

Anyone got any amazing tips for nausea?
I'm approx 8+4 and been lucky so far, only had slight nausea but last few days it's been awful and the sickness has just started 🤢

For any ladies who have had this all the way so far .. I salute you! Not easy to cope with!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 15/03/2024 16:27

I too have terrible nausea and I did with my daughter too but I could just crash out as I was on summer holidays and I didn't need to do anything. This is totally different and quite brutal already (looking after a 1year old alone most days). I have the sort of nausea where I don't know what I want to eat but I know I need to eat as it does take the edge off. Do ginger biscuits really work? The bands did nothing for me last time... nor did ginger suckie sweets. Any ideas?

I can't remember who responded to me when I posted last week but I had another scan today, 8 days later, and baby was there with a strong heartbeat. Measuring 6+5 (7+3 based on 28 day cycle which I've never had) - I measured a bit behind with my daughter and all was fine so not getting too bogged down with that. Actually now due 3.11.24. So I'm between groups! X

IsLarryFromSomething · 15/03/2024 16:52

I've kind of gone off ginger from having too much of it.

Cream crackers and Ritz crackers work well for me. Also, babybel cheese. I have to eat throughout the day or I get so nauseous I can't face food. It's hard because I really shouldn't be eating while teaching but I genuinely can't go 2+ hours without having something.

Ice lollies, lemonade with ice, and sour fizzy sweets. And if it's interfering with life then speak to the GP and get some medication. I'm on the highest dose of Xonvea atm and still feel rubbish quite a bit but I had HG with my last two so this is amazing in comparison.

cm3212 · 15/03/2024 17:01

@WeightoftheWorld thank you! Will try those ...

Ahh that's awful for you, honestly kudos to you! My friend had HG and it isn't nice at all.

I consider myself lucky I haven't had it too bad with sickness but yeah, feeling it these last few days.

Hope it eases and you start to feel better soon ❤️

LuxeBiscuit · 15/03/2024 17:14

@cm3212 I found seasick bands helped with the motion sickness part. I was still sick but it took the edge off.

Plus mint sweets.

Trifficult · 15/03/2024 17:15

Another vote for cream crackers for the nausea, I've totally gone off hot food and living on sandwiches and pitta bread with hummus.

Also on Xonvea, finding it's taking the edge off but struggling to take it in the day as I get even more tired and can't function. Did you get drowsiness from it and if so did it wear off? I've been too scared to try it in the day again after I had to nap all afternoon (luckily wasn't working that day with toddler in nursery!)

OneSunnyFox · 15/03/2024 17:49

@cm3212 I ate a lot of tuc biscuits, and just anything beige like crisps in general! Lots of white bread toast too! I did have ginger nuts, but could only eat them sparingly! I found it easier with savory snacks. I did try to remove anything that gave me gas too as that was making me feel worse. Hope yours gets better!

I had a scan today as part of NIPT. Measuring slightly ahead at 11 +3, rather than 11+1 after being measured at 6+5 as behind. Has the outline of a baby now.

Everything I've used to help with nausea (mints, ginger ade, crackers) I've one by one developed an aversion too 😅

Willow20233 · 15/03/2024 18:21

My doctor gave me Cyclizine (anti sickness tabs) today.. has anyone used these and were they effective?

ButterflySkies · 15/03/2024 18:57

Hello! Sorry for silence im also feeling absolutely terrible. Sending love to everyone else feeling like poo!

Just for anyone who had a late booking appt (mines at 14 weeks!) and a blood test earlier, i was pleasantly surprised today - i thought it was just a blood test but it was like a little appt and she spoke me through what to do with the bleed and spotting etc. Thought id say just for anyone else a bit anxious about the timing of appts being late xx

I did get a little bit of grogginess from it for about the first fortnight or so in the mornings, but it wore off gradually. I was only taking the 20mg at night then too so by midday-ish the next day I was fine. But then my sickness got worse and worse so now I take the full 40mg over the day and I'm exhausted but not drowsy per se. I generally have a pretty high tolerance to sedative effects of medication though for whatever reason. If you increase the dose I'd recommend timing it for when you have support around if possible to see how you are, I increased my dosage around weekends both times so I could see how it would affect me whilst DH was on hand.

I can't tag anyone on this silly app now but willow - Cyclizine was the first drug they gave me in my first pregnancy and it absolutely knocked me out. I'm usually quite tolerant to sedative side effects but that drug was the exception. I was sooo drowsy I couldn't function at all, and it also did absolutely nothing for my sickness. But obviously everyone is different and I also had HG rather than 'normal' sickness.

Willow20233 · 15/03/2024 19:32

Thanks @WeightoftheWorld
I just started taking it. Hoping it helps me but have read so many different sides on this!

mrssunshinexxx · 15/03/2024 19:36

@Willow20233 me , haven't worked for me just made me dangerously tired

aussiegirl89 · 15/03/2024 20:04

@Willow20233 not tried cyclizine but heard that's a common one to help with nausea

I have mild HG so I feel your pain

I'm on vitamin b6 3 x per day
5mg stemetil 3 x per day
Omaprazole 1 per day (for heartburn)
1 x 12.5mg restavit at night
And 8mg ondansatron when needed

This concoction has definitely helped me as well as biweekly hospital trips for IV fluids

For a while I was on emexlon but it gave me leg cramps and made me depressed

They are all safe for baby but look out for any side effects on you. Constipation is a common one so have laxatives handy xxx

lpylou · 15/03/2024 20:57

@OneSunnyFox amazing pic, you must be so excited. Love the wave!

Nic2908 · 15/03/2024 20:58

@WickWood did they not take a swab of your tonsils to see if it grew any bacteria?

@nervousn3lly beautiful news congratulations

@Fullofconfusion yey love an extra scan.

@OneSunnyFox beautiful scan. Congratulations.

@Nic2908 They didn't, my appointment was 8.30 am, I left the room at 8.31 am! If I'm not feeling any better tomorrow I'll go to the localish walk in centre, because I really am struggling. Hopefully tomorrow is better!

WickWood · 15/03/2024 21:36

@OneSunnyFox Aww, another little proper baby scan!

lpylou · 15/03/2024 21:48

Hope you find answers and have some relief soon @WickWood

Nic2908 · 15/03/2024 22:08

@WickWood absolutely go to wic tomorrow or even ed if your concerned and pregnant. You could also always try 111 too if you’re in the uk. It sounds like it could be strep throat which you need antibiotics for. I can’t remember if you said, have you been having temps?

OP posts:
WickWood · 15/03/2024 22:17

@Nic2908 It's hard to tell temperature wise, I am always warm anyway and because I'm being sick a lot I'm quite sweaty! I've managed to eat a cheese pasty for dinner and a cheese pie for tea and haven't thrown them up (yet!) When does the pregnancy glow start?!
