Seems we got to the end of a thread. Not sure if a new one has been set up.

@Sunandsea13 I'm getting it done (live aboard and have maternity insurance which covers it so not paying out of pocket) but even if we did have to pay out of pocket, I would still be getting it done.

A friend of mine had confirmation at around 16weeks her little boy was incompatible with life. She found out she was high risk at her 12 week scan and by the time she had done the harmony test and amino to confirm the results, time had lapsed to 16 weeks and she was forced to deliver her baby.

Personally I want to know ASAP if something is a miss. Seeing what she went through and the trauma she now carries from all the waiting around and inevitable outcome, I don't want to drag things out unnecessarily.

I don't mean to scare you. It's a very personal decision and we call come at it from different views, beliefs and experiences. There is no right or wrong. You have to do what's best for you and your family.

@Nic2908 i had no clue the NHS offered that! Do you mind me asking what you’re paying? I’ve seen it’s about £500 privately with a scan.

I got mine done one Monday via a private clinic that uses concepto lab . It was £220, cheaper than the other options but has good reviews and I think it's just because it's not a branded test. Although I'm not sure I's recommend it unless you are very set on knowing, as it's made me so so so anxious and I've not been able to sleep for 3 days! Think I will find out on Friday - it's been a long week!
I was 10+3 when I got it done.

mrssunshinexxx · 14/03/2024 06:58

@Willow20233 I'm seeing my sister today and I need to be really aware of what im doing / saying to not give the game away. I need to eat like NOW every half an hour 😂

JemRose · 14/03/2024 09:15

Anyone else been feeling a bit down? I just feel like the constant nausea and exhaustion coupled with looking after a nearly 2 year old all day plus working part time has got me feeling totally burnt out and miserable. I hate first trimester. I just want to be past the 'risky' stage and see a baby with a heartbeat on the screen and start to get excited about it all! But also slightly terrified of having another baby as I really feel I've lost a lot of identity/independence since having my first... I know it's just a season in life but I'm finding it bloody tough right now! My house is such a mess!

Hi everyone I haven't posted in a while so not sure if this has been mentioned in previous posts, I'm 11wks and have a very small amount of brown discharge but can't help but worry I'm still being sick and exhausted and have no pain
I no brown is old blood but with my history still worry

@nervousn3lly .. I had the same , mainly brown and a little pink. I went to the early pregnancy assessment unit and was a small haematoma and nothing to worry about. They also didn't seem to concerned with brown as it's old blood .. still, always worth getting checked out .. maybe call your early pregnancy unit if you can refer directly or your GP?

Mine stopped after a day but then a week later I had red bleeding and passed a clot (sorry tmi) and they said they think it was the haematoma breaking away.

So it can be nothing to worry about (I know , easier said than done) but I would definitely get checked out, even just for piece of mind ❤️ x

Nic2908 · 14/03/2024 09:52

@RobynC28 ahh you will have to let me know how quick you get your results, I’ve just got back from having mine done. I’m just not going to think about it as I can’t change what the results are. Instead I’m so excited to find out the sex of the baby, I’m going to focus on that. They have said a week tomorrow for my results but I’m hoping they will be a little earlier than that.

@JemRose I feel the same can't keep on top of my house have to force myself to cook cos everyone else needs to eat healthy meals still! Got a 2 and 3 year old and hubby works away every other week M-F. I cannot wait to feel more like me

SELE97 · 14/03/2024 09:59

My sneak peek results came back last night and I've found out I'm having a baby girl!

I am so shocked as for some reason I was convinced baby was a boy (no idea where this came from, just a feeling). I'm probably going to have the private NIPT too, so will see if that and subsequent scans confirm it's a girl. It's so exciting, I have a horrible cold right now so it's really cheered me up from feeling rubbish.

CDD · 14/03/2024 10:04

@SELE97 Congratulations on that news :)

OneSunnyFox · 14/03/2024 10:07

@SELE97 i actually read that girls are more likely to give you nasal congestion as a symptom! I had a cold which took me 5 weeks to shake, and started googling!

Congratulations on your news!

CluelessInLondon · 14/03/2024 10:11

@SELE97 What lovely news, congratulations! ❤

Nervous764367 · 14/03/2024 10:13

@JemRose I am feeling similar. It’s the constant nausea and exhaustion. I’m feeling sick all of the time, it only stops when I eat but then maybe 15 mins after that I feel really sick and am often sick. It’s getting me down. I also have toddlers at home. A 2 year old and 1 year old. Also have a 5 year old at school so I’m feeling a bit down about being so behind on laundry, tidying etc. My husband has taken over a fair bit but even though he tries and it’s helped a lot…nothing feels like it’s going as smoothly as before.

I can’t wait for the first trimester to be over, so I can start feeling better and also let people know why I’ve been a social recluse. I’ve hardly spoken to anyone since finding out as I just don’t have the energy to be able to pretend I’m feeling ok or to hold a decent conversation.

Youre not alone in this. I would also say that going from 0-1 is more of a shock than 1-2 ❤️ so you’ll be fine.

2-3 was an even easier transition so now I’m hoping the same can be said for 3-4. Husband can deffs get the snip after this though 😂 xx

Nervous764367 · 14/03/2024 10:14

@SELE97 lovely news. Congrats xx

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the screening test results back if we have it at the 12 week scan? We really want to tell our family after the scan but wondering if it’s worth waiting until we’ve had the test results back?

Thank you for posting this! This is how I feel too! I've had to finally just take the day iff work.

I have a three yr old and scared about adding another. I think I forgot how horrible the first trimester is

nervousn3lly · 14/03/2024 10:59

@cm3212
Thank you for your reply I'm sorry to hear you experienced the added stress of that.

So I had some Sunday and rang the midwife line she didn't seem bothered tbh said if it turned red then to call back I can't self refer at epu u have to have a referral in my area it stoped then had little more last night and nothing since I don't have my 12 week scan until 25th when I'm 12+5 feels so long away maybe I'll book a private scan for inbetween.
Xx

I think you get a call a few days later if it’s bad news. Normal results can take 10 days to 2 weeks.

cm3212 · 14/03/2024 12:27

@nervousn3lly could you maybe try your go? Mines the same and you need a referral, my GP did it.

It is a long wait for / between scans isn't it. I've got my 12wk through and I've got 3 week to wait.

I'm sure you'll be fine but yes, I'd want the reassurance too. If you don't get anywhere with epau then maybe a private one would help rest your mind x

I just got my results back! I had the test on Monday, it was delivered to the lab on Tuesday so a 24 hour turn around.

Everything low risk which is the most important thing and... I'm having a girl!! I Couldn't be more thrilled - I come from a family of sisters and was secretly hoping for a girl. I'm honestly shaking. If I wasn't pregnant I'd be having a strong gin and tonic to calm my nerves ! Ha ha.

@RobynC28 wow that was super fast turn around. A girl congratulations. You can sleep well tonight. Finally seeming real?

Thank you every one for your congratulations☺️

@OneSunnyFox that's really interesting, I've had congestion in the morning since about 4 weeks but now a full blown cold which is knocking me down and I never get colds. Oh gosh 5 weeks is a very long time for a cold!

@RobynC28 congratulations on your girl! ❤️
