Seems we got to the end of a thread. Not sure if a new one has been set up.

I've got booking app on 26th and should have the date for my scan before then, we aren't having screening done x

SELE97 · 13/03/2024 14:30

@CluelessInLondon Aw okay thank you, I imagine they'll do it at the 12 week scan with the rest of the bloods too. It only came to my attention as it popped up on my Pregnancy+ app timeline and said before 10 weeks so was curious.

Lots of people seem to have had their date before they had their booking appointment. Oh that's lovey that you're booked in for your 20 week scan too. Hopefully I'll get both scan letters in the post soon!

mouldygrapes · 13/03/2024 15:12

Thanks @aussiegirl89 @Oct24
I could go at 10+3 as I've got some time off, but maybe I'll find another time and not
risk it. I kind of want to do it asap as I'm
sure my NHS tests will be "high-risk" due to age

LuxeBiscuit · 13/03/2024 15:35

@SELE97 I see. At the least, it's good that you're in the system before she goes away and she should have sent off the form for your dating scan.

phw.nhs.wales/services-and-teams/screening/antenatal-screening-wales/information-resources/leaflets/antenatal-screening-tests/section-4-screening-for-sickle-cell-and-thalassaemia-in-pregnancy/

According to PHW you're only offered the screening if you meet certain conditions - family history, ethnic background etc.

If you're concerned it might be worth contacting the midwife to check.

Hey, what's made you decide not to screen? I'm also thinking not too myself but still undecided.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/03/2024 16:14

Hey @Sara1988 never did with other 2 children as whatever the outcome wouldn't affect our decision so figure what's the point in adding anxiety ? Also from the point you could get results of 1 in 1000 which is low but someone still is going to be that 1 x

Sara1988 · 13/03/2024 16:16

@mrssunshinexxx this is my thinking but partner wants to be 'prepared'. I just think whatever stat we get I'll worry.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/03/2024 16:52

If that's what you think I wouldn't bother having it done x

Sunandsea13 · 13/03/2024 17:00

Is anyone doing private NIPT screening before 12 week scan? Can’t decide if it’s worth it or not!

WeightoftheWorld · 13/03/2024 17:20

Nah, I'm not having any additional private investigations.

I don't have a date for my dating scan yet but I remember last time I had it at the latest possible for the screening and only got the letter a few days before the appointment. So expecting similar this time. I'm just hoping that it's a daytime appointment so DH can come with me.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/03/2024 18:03

@WeightoftheWorld also really hoping my husband will be able to make it work he works away every other week

nervousn3lly · 13/03/2024 19:05

Hi everyone I haven't posted in a while so not sure if this has been mentioned in previous posts, I'm 11wks and have a very small amount of brown discharge but can't help but worry I'm still being sick and exhausted and have no pain
I no brown is old blood but with my history still worry

Nic2908 · 13/03/2024 19:55

@Sunandsea13 we have our private nipt tomorrow. Although even though we are paying it’s via the nhs so we don’t get a scan just the blood tests. Xx

Where do you get the anti-sickness bands?
I'm around 7 weeks and omg the nausea is so bad and lasting pretty much all day now. I want to embrace this part but it's really getting me down! Can hardly keep my eyes opened when driving to work. Never been this exhausted so early on! Xx

Hi @Willow20233 I got mine from Amazon £3.99 for a pack of 2 and wear all the time. Xx they do kinda help but I'm still feeling nauseated most of the day

Willow20233 · 13/03/2024 20:07

@rachisamumtobe
Thank you!
Didn't think of amazon. Considering calling docs for anti sickness tabs but don't like taking tablets while pregnant xx

Willow20233 · 13/03/2024 20:12

Does anyone get random stitch like pain when sneezing and coughing? Looked it up and Google suggests round ligament pain. It's pretty sharp but as I say, only when sneezing or coughing (just now and again)

LuxeBiscuit · 13/03/2024 20:16

@Willow20233 it's such a sharp, intense pain. I worked out that I need to bend forward, hold my stomach and 'open' sneeze (not holding it in) to avoid the pain.

lpylou · 13/03/2024 20:19

@Willow20233 yes I've had that! Not first pregnancy but this one

Willow20233 · 13/03/2024 20:22

@LuxeBiscuit @lpylou it's so sore! I did try the bending forward technique and seemed to help a bit. I think I have pregnancy rhinitis again! So I'm sneezing all the time !!

mrssunshinexxx · 13/03/2024 20:45

I really wanted to try the bands but no one knows still and think they'd give the game away!

Willow20233 · 13/03/2024 20:49

Ah that's true @mrssunshinexxx!
I've already had someone at work ask if I'm pregnant due to my extreme weeing and munching the full working day!

@Nic2908 i had no clue the NHS offered that! Do you mind me asking what you’re paying? I’ve seen it’s about £500 privately with a scan.

Nic2908 · 13/03/2024 22:09

@Sunandsea13 £380, but that’s just the test no scan. I’m based in the north west if that helps for reference. The only private place that does it is a two hour drive from us, so it’s the easiest option. Most nhs places offer it as stage 2 if primary screening is high. Always worth as ask if you can pay and do it anyway.

Yes and also get it if I stand up quickly! Xxx
