Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

I’m so tired I can’t function by the evening. I still need to get the kids to bed and clear up but it’s so much effort.

I’m still sick every morning but mostly ok apart from that. In my previous pregnancies I had hyperemesis which lasted until I gave birth each time so I think I’m owed not too bad sickness!

Wheeeeee · 08/12/2023 14:59

I had my 12 week scan this morning - all looks fine and measuring 12 weeks on the dot so EDD 21 June. Baby was very wriggly and uncooperative for the measurements - a sign of things to come maybe 😅

Hi all 🌸

Long time lurker, first time poster here! Currently 14+4 with my first, due on 03/06/24.

Haven’t had the easiest pregnancy so far with constant nausea from 6w - around 13w and bad fatigue (turned out to be anaemic so now on iron tablets), but aside from the belly twinges I seem to be coming out of the other end of the disabling symptoms and have rediscovered my appetite - yay!!

Have seen a few posts about anxiety between scans and can definitely relate. 12 week scan and screening results all good, but it doesn’t stop me from worrying!

I am also going it alone as my partner doesn’t think it’s “sensible” for him to have children right now and the stress and heartbroken tears surrounding that are making me feel so guilty, especially being told that baby feels all of my emotions. So just trying to stay strong and hope baby knows how loved he/she is by me.

Have also booked a private scan for 23rd December and will do a small gender reveal on 25th with my family so something to look forward to!

Anyway, just thought I would say hi and introduce myself. Will do my best to be more active on here rather than just a little lurker!

K x

Hi @Barkboots we have the same due date!
In glad to hear you're starting to feel better, but sorry to hear the situation with your partner and your baby will know how much its loved by you.
You'll have lots of support here 🥰🤗

Catson · 08/12/2023 18:03

@MizzMarple I know how you feel about the evening tiredness and trying to do bedtime etc, it's a killer.

@Wheeeeee pleased your scan went well, always a relief

@Barkboots it sounds like it is your partner who is going to miss out and not your baby. Feel what you need to feel. Remember babies are born in wars etc and grow up totally fine, and I can't imagine the mums were thinking happy thoughts all the time. Take the time to process everything and we're all here

Hi All, I was briefly on the part 1 thread but have ditched my previous username as I'd shared something very identifiable elsewhere on the board.

Due 1st June so will be 15 weeks tomorrow!

How is everyone? I'm feeling a bit glum today as it feels like everyone is busy having a festive wine-fuelled time this weekend and I can't join in (well obviously I can, with soft drinks, but it's just not the same is it).

Ooh, we're due date twins!

I had a christmas works do recently and although I'm not a big drinker, I did miss not being able to have a drink.

Now I'm feeling a bit perkier morning sickness wise etc I'm going to look at having some mocktails over christmas so it feels a bit more celebratory.

QueSyrahSyrah · 08/12/2023 20:16

Hello Twin!

My works do is tomorrow lunchtime, then people will continue on into the evening. I'd thought to myself it wasn't too bad, whenever I'm done I can just drive home and have a nice evening in with DH and a Christmas movie, but now he's announced he's going out with some friends so it'll just be me home alone.

Having a bit of a pity-party about it; I think it's probably the wider realisation that this is it now, spontaneous festive pub trips without responsibility are a thing of the past for the next however many years... (and they've ended for me before they end for DH!).

oop · 08/12/2023 20:26

Welcome all newcomers (and lurkers 😁).
So exciting to hear about everyone's scans!

I got my screening results back today. They're low risk but the DS risk is much higher than I was expecting at 1 in 500 (I was over 1500 with my first born). So that's thrown my anxiety all over the place even though I know it's still a tiny risk. My NT and papp-a were very normal but bHCG was really high for some reason.

Has anyone had their hair highlighted during pregnancy? In my last pregnancy I just avoided it but I have greys needing covered this time round! I’ve been reading up and it says highlights are safer than dyes as they don’t directly touch the scalp. Undecided on what to do and my appointment is next week, will be 12 weeks then x

Chaiandtoast · 09/12/2023 10:12

I did. I panicked a bit, and I read a bunch of proper research articles on it. There’s a small risk, but it’s minor. I know lots of people who’ve done it, and also hairdressers who have been around those chemicals constantly during their pregnancies. So for me I decided it was ok, and I would feel much better and more myself.
my hair dresser just didn’t go quite to the scalp. However my hair lightened a lot quicker and a lot more than normal! I’ve read it’s because your body temp is higher.

LElle88 · 09/12/2023 10:18

Thanks for your reply. I also asked my midwife at my booking appointment and she said it would be fine but I’m still undecided! 🙈

Catson · 09/12/2023 10:30

I got mine done literally the day I tested positive..didn't even think about it to be honest. I think if there was a major issue then hairdressers would be obligated to ask if you're pregnant or a chance you could be before proceeding, a bit like when you go to the dentist etc. That's my opinion anyway

Chaiandtoast · 09/12/2023 10:32

Yeah it’s a difficult decision I worried for a few days. But I felt awful, I was already overdue for a colour, then I was bloated, sick, and generally just feeling gross, and it made me feel a lot better. I also knew I didn’t want to wait 12 months for my hair to be done, with (at that point) 8 more months of pregnancy then I wouldn’t be heading straight there post birth with a BF baby. For me it seemed low risk, but obviously only you can decide! Can you embrace the grey?

MizzMarple · 09/12/2023 11:17

I got my hair highlighted all through my first 2 pregnancies (I stopped dyeing it after Covid) and it was fine. The NHS advice says it’s OK.

VJ88 · 09/12/2023 13:04

I heard that you can be more sensitive to things when pregnant, so if in doubt you could do a patch test first to check you don't suddenly develop a reaction to the dye? As others have said already, my understanding is that it's actually pretty safe

pinkhart · 10/12/2023 22:43

Hi everyone! Just commenting on the new thread so I can keep up Grin

Mountainview8 · 11/12/2023 08:13

How's everyone doing? Bit if a personal one, but anyone else suffering with constipation and got any recommendations for relieving it?

Ad12345678 · 11/12/2023 08:36

Hi @Mountainview8 I try to eat lots of veg and fruit, it seems to help

Mountainview8 · 11/12/2023 08:53

I have a generally healthy diet, I'll try to up the fruit and veg (having a veg packed curry tonight!), just think it might be a challenge being away for Xmas!

Stephy1024 · 11/12/2023 09:01

On a slightly separate note. We find out what we are having tomorrow morning eeekkk!!

DanisEndo · 11/12/2023 10:26

@Mountainview8 fibre! Beans and wholemeal, I’ve been trying to add chia seeds to my breakfast. Branflakes with some fruit is an easy win for a snack or breakfast packed with fibre.

DanisEndo · 11/12/2023 10:27

@Stephy1024 that is so unbelievably exciting! Do you have any suspicions of what you might have?

Stephy1024 · 11/12/2023 10:36

Isnt it just. The appointment is at 9.30 so I'm not waiting around all day lol. Im leaning towards boy if I'm honest. Just because this pregnancy feels like it did when I was pregnant with my son. I had much worse symptoms with my daughter. But who really knows 😁.
