Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

Ahhh thank you @Catson thats reassuring and the description does sound about right. I think I’ll monitor and call if they get any more intense. This whole experience is like an anxiety rollercoaster !!’

Stephy1024 · 06/12/2023 15:01

Got the results this morning from the screen tests at our 12 week scan. It's 1 in 5000 for everything. Good odds I think. We also find out on Tuesday what we're having. Has anyone got their results back yet?

Catson · 06/12/2023 15:13

@DanisEndo it really is a minefield and everythings just the unknown isn't it. Second time around isn't much better, but at least I remember what some things are!

@Stephy1024 that sounds good odds to me. I don't have my scan for a fortnight yet

oop · 06/12/2023 15:41

@Stephy1024 think that's as low a risk as some trusts go now! Great news. I'm still waiting on mine but it's been a week so assuming risk isn't high as I haven't been contacted yet.

GeeinItLaldyX · 06/12/2023 16:07

Has my 12 week scan today and measuring 12 weeks on the dot! Due date is 19/06 which is also my birthday haha. Feeling reassured seeing baby doing backflips and excited to finally tell people

Foxtrot2022 · 06/12/2023 16:32

Hi all 🤗great to find this thread!

I’m pregnant with my third child (slightly unplanned!) and had my 12 week scan yesterday and due on 20th June 2024.

I had been feeling ok but the last couple of days I’ve suffered dreadfully with nausea but not actually being sick. I thought things got better not worse when you got to 12 weeks!

PurpleIsTheColour · 06/12/2023 16:42

@Suchardchoccy , I also had the NIPT done 4 weeks ago and little bean is a boy💙 a very welcome addition to my little girl ☺️

Suchardchoccy · 06/12/2023 17:36

@mamahg absolutely, you too 💪🏻🥰

Suchardchoccy · 06/12/2023 17:38

@PurpleIsTheColour fantastic news, how exciting 😍 now we have to think of names!

Mountainview8 · 06/12/2023 20:49

@Stephy1024 I just got the results from my blood tests 12 days after I had my scan and tests, low risk for all 🙂

Mousse1990 · 07/12/2023 09:14

Following.

Dating scan on the 18th, but previous scans have both said 20/06 for the due date.

Currently off work with such bad fatigue (feel like I have the flu) and found out I'm anaemic. Hoping this improves soon as feel so guilty 😔

CashewDragon · 07/12/2023 09:41

Morning!
Had our 12 week scan last week, and now very nervous about having to wait until end of Jan for the 20-week. I’m so tempted to book a private scan for 16-week, to see gender, but not sure if I’m being silly and should just wait.
What are you all doing between 12 and 20? I don’t think my anxiety can take not knowing if everything is okay for 2 months..

Catson · 07/12/2023 10:46

@CashewDragon the thing with scans is they only show to up that moment in time. You could leave and it could all go wrong within an hour. This isn't to make your anxiety worse, but to try and say that sometimes it's probably better not to waste your money on a scan as it won't change anything anyway and what will be will be. I think the chances of anything going wrong after the 12 week scan are drastically reduced too, which might help how you feel?

Catson · 07/12/2023 10:49

@CashewDragon this info is on the NCT website:

Most miscarriages occur at the start of pregnancy. The overall probability of a pregnancy ending in miscarriage in the UK is: 25% at four weeks; 5% at eight weeks; 1.7% at 12 weeks; and 0.5% at 16 weeks.

More than 80% of miscarriages occur within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. After 12 weeks, the rate decreases rapidly.

VJ88 · 07/12/2023 12:02

Feeling hopeful today after a bumpy couple of days. We had a reassurance scan on Tuesday, measuring 10+2. Everything looked great, and then about four hours later I had a bit of orangey-pink discharge when I went to the loo. Both of my early losses started this way, so I immediately panicked. Thankfully it passed within a few hours and didn't get worse. Due to being a high risk pregnancy, I already had an appointment booked with my consultant this morning. I raised my concerns with her and she was happy to scan me immediately. Thankfully the baby looked well (it even seemed like they were waving at us) and my consultant said there is no blood in my uterus, so she is not concerned but prescribed me progesterone for the next month just as a precaution.

She's now booked all my scans and appointments up to 20 weeks, and we even pencilled in a provisional date for my c-section (due to my past history we don't have a choice and have to have a c-section a bit early to prevent me going into labor naturally). It feels wild to know the date my baby is going to be born already, but after a difficult week it's nice that she is so optimistic and is looking that far forward.

Catson · 07/12/2023 12:13

@VJ88 that sounds like great news all round

happytobemrsg · 07/12/2023 16:41

Hopefully I’ll be more active in this thread compared to the last one! Due 28.06 & 10w +6 today. This is out 3rd & we already have 2 DS - 7 & 4.

Had a reassurance scan at 8w +1 which was perfect. Have a private NIPT scan booked tomorrow & my NHS dating scan booked for 19th December.

Feeling very anxious about scan tomorrow. Still feeling super nauseous most of the day & shattered after lunch. Symptoms feel so much worse this time around.

Catson · 07/12/2023 18:19

Good to hear from you @happytobemrsg (I still can't find the FB group, so assume I managed to accidentally leave after the effort of joining 🫠). My NHS scan is 19th too, I haven't had any others.

Definitely agree about symptoms being worse this time around

Chaiandtoast · 07/12/2023 18:33

I’m 12 weeks tomorrow, I thought the symptoms would have eased off by now, but I fell asleep on my lunch break today and have barely been able to get any work done since. I couldn’t even drive to the supermarket I am just too tired. I’m stressing about my work piling up now though. I’m also still nauseous most days, and I have a ton of other symptoms too.
It’s starting to make me worry because I keep hearing the placenta should have taken over and I should be feeling better?

Chaiandtoast · 07/12/2023 18:34

Congrats to everyone on their scans and results too, it’s lovely to hear the positive news

Catson · 07/12/2023 18:51

@Chaiandtoast the placenta taking over can take a bit longer and sometimes even if it takes over the hormones etc can take a while to reduce and in then reduce your symptoms, which is why you hear some people being sick up to 20 odd weeks if not longer. Unfortunately the placenta taking over isn't a fail safe for symptoms going, but can usually explain why symptoms might disappear if they do

VJ88 · 07/12/2023 18:53

@Chaiandtoast I think it really varies from person to person. I know people who struggled with morning sickness until about 16 weeks (sorry!!)

happytobemrsg · 07/12/2023 19:09

@Catson Do you want me to try & get another link for you?

Had a work do last night & didn’t get home til gone midnight (& it was only half way through the event!). I’m absolutely shattered today. Headache, exhausted 😩 just want to go back to bed
