Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

I’ve got my 12 week scan this afternoon, I’m so anxious and hormonal and ill. I think I’ll burst into tears when they hopefully say that everything’s ok.
congrats to everyone else getting good news and finding out the sex too! Really exciting

Stephy1024 · 12/12/2023 12:45

@DanisEndo yeah I have one of each. My little girl be really pleased. And my son will probably be like ' what another' lol.
Yeah fab feels like so long away but I'm sure time will start to pass fast now. Are you leaning towards boy/girl? My appointment today was a private one because I wanted to know before Christmas....im so impatient 😆.

happytobemrsg · 12/12/2023 13:34

Struggling today. Have a head cold, everything & everyone at work is pissing me off & I'm so tired. Had NIPT done on Friday & last night I had a horrible dream about the results. Just want to go back to bed 🥺

oop · 12/12/2023 15:26

@Fiori1 no experience myself but that's sounds stressful so hugs to you. It does sound very promising that it's so small though, would be great if it went away by itself! My limited understanding is that even if it does stay it's very treatable?

Fiori1 · 12/12/2023 15:31

@oop Thanks :). Well if it occurs it comes mostly with other chromosome disorders.. So we hope it will be gone by the next ultrasound. And otherwise they can rule out a lot with amniocentesis

Mimi0539 · 12/12/2023 15:34

Hi @Fiori1 , we had very similar with our first pregnancy. Physiologically all babies organs develop outside but usually become internal by around 11+4 ish... Some take a little longer and a very small number have a resulting omphalocele or gastroschisis.

In our case it had resolved by around 13 weeks and that was that, but I completely understand your anxiety. Google is not your friend .. would recommend staying away from it. It's important to remember that they are easily resolved at birth so the prognosis is good. Feel free to reach out if you need any support

Fiori1 · 12/12/2023 15:39

@Mimi0539 Thanks for your hopeful message! Indeed, Google is not your friend... then the prospects are not good. However, I also read a lot of research that sometimes it takes a little more time. Considering the minimal size (normally they see at least 1cm) I have good hope... although you also take into account a worse scenario. Its still very early in the pregnancy so they cannot confirm anything yet

Chaiandtoast · 12/12/2023 15:55

@Fiori1 fingers crossed it’s resolved for your next scan for you. I don’t know too much about it but it sounds like there’s lots of options and hope anyway! Definitely do stay away from Google!

DanisEndo · 12/12/2023 17:32

@Stephy1024 ahhh a lovely trio! Am sure they’ll all be besties in no time.
i hope it does fly by! Feel bad wishing away any of this time but at the same time I’m just so excited to meet them (and feel less crap!). I’m thinking girl and girl has been the most popular guess from friends and family so far but we shall see.

Suchardchoccy · 12/12/2023 18:21

I had my 12 week scan today. Measuring 12+3 EDD 22nd June! She looks perfect 😊

babyp2024 · 13/12/2023 09:23

hi girls
this is my first pregnancy and i am classed as high risk. the pregnancy was achieved via IVF, and i have a brain condition that is completely under control and i am not under any investigation right now. I have been booked in for a consultant appt at the hospital on friday, has anyone had a consultant appt and can tell me what to expect? will they scan me or is it just a chat? spiralling 😂

VJ88 · 13/12/2023 12:37

Hi @babyp2024 I am a high risk pregnancy too. I saw my consultant at 10 weeks for the first time and she just had a brief chat with me about the pregnancy so far, and my specific case/requirements. E.g. I have to have a c section due to something in my medical history, so we talked through that and what my care will look like during this pregnancy. It was nothing too scary, and I actually found it very reassuring.

She did offer to do a quick scan (not as detailed as the 12 week scan will be, she didn't take any measurements or anything, but I was happy to see baby wriggling around).

I also found it really helpful to talk to her about what appointments I can expect to have and when. I now have a clear picture of when I see my midwife, consultant and when I have scans.

babyp2024 · 13/12/2023 12:42

hi @VJ88 thank you so much, thats so reassuring to know what to expect! i will be 13+6 when I have the appt on Friday. thank you !

VJ88 · 13/12/2023 12:50

I am sure every appointment will be slightly different as we are all unique people with our own care needs. I hope it goes well and I hope you have a consultant you like! I adore mine - she is very kind but totally no nonsense, so I feel like I'm on really good hands with her.

I saw an obstetrician last week and my care will be consultant led. In my case I have a number of different medical conditions and it's a combination of them all which has put me under consultant care.

The consultant spoke to me a bit about how I was feeling with the pregnancy in terms of morning sickness etc. He then asked about my medication, folic acid etc. We talked a bit about each condition and then he used the doppler thingy to listen to baby's heartbeat (was 14+6 at the time).

He confirmed that I would get two additional growth scans at 27 and 31 weeks and that I would see him again after each scan (my area offers scans at 12, 20 and 36 weeks), including after the extra scans.

I'll see him again at 21+6, a few days after my 20 week scan which is at 21+4. DH and I found the appointment quite reassuring and I hope you have a similar experience.

happytobemrsg · 14/12/2023 09:44

Had NIPT scan on Friday & received the results yesterday. Thankfully everything looks great! Confirmed that we are having another little boy 💙 so that’ll be 3 boys! Very much looking forward to getting all the cuddles from my little tribe 💙💙💙 Next scan is NHS dating scan on Tuesday.

Catson · 14/12/2023 10:06

Ahh congratulations @happytobemrsg
My scan is Tuesday as well. What time is yours?

I met with a consultant because I'm 40. Not sure if this is the norm but I was in the room about 5 minutes, he repeated a few questions the Midwife had already asked, checked that I'm taking aspirin daily, and booked me in for a 32 week scan. That was it!

Mine is at 12:30 I think, what about you? We’re at a different hospital this time so I’m a bit anxious about getting to the right place etc so will probably leave super early

MorningsideMaisie · 15/12/2023 07:19

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me joining! I’m due on 30 June 2024, and have my 12 week scan on Monday. I’m torn between the June and July threads because I’ll probably go over (first baby), but thought it would be good to hear from people slightly ahead rather than behind.

We have actually already had two NHS scans at 6 and 8 weeks due to very tiny amounts of bleeding, where baby was totally fine and measuring bang on for dates. Looking forward to going in to the next scan with less anxiety!

We’re planning to share the news more widely once we know all is well (fingers crossed), as we have only told immediate family so far. Can’t wait to grumble openly about sickness and tiredness 😂 but also hoping these will lessen soon!

DanisEndo · 15/12/2023 10:36

@MorningsideMaisie i also have my 12 week scan on Monday!! I’m so excited to see the little bean again.

the thought of coming to the end of the 1st trimester is starting to stress me out lol I feel like there’s so many bits around the house I wana do before they arrive and 6 months suddenly doesn’t sound very long to do it in ahah. I’m so excited to meet them and just so want everything to be perfect so we can just be in a little bubble and have nothing to worry about.

already know I’m over thinking it 😂

Hotmalibu94 · 15/12/2023 11:06

Hey @MorningsideMaisie 😁 welcome to the thread 💕 let us know how your scan goes on Monday!
The sickness is the one for me, I dunno if I'm more tired than normal or if I'm always this tired 😂 hits some days more than others. Need to try and wean myself off my antisickness tablets at some point 🥲

MizzMarple · 15/12/2023 13:08

I had my 12 week scan today and everything was good. Very low risk for Downs and Edwards. My due date has also been moved forward 3 days to 24th June. So all good.

VJ88 · 15/12/2023 13:51

Welcome @MorningsideMaisie! I'm also due on June 30th and have my 12 week scan on Monday. Hope yours goes well. I decided to hop in to this group as I know I will have an elective c section a couple of weeks early due to something in my medical history, but I do feel a bit behind others here sometimes so have joined a July group on Reddit as well, where I feel really far ahead of everyone, so I guess it balances out 😂

Catson · 15/12/2023 23:18

I was at a friends house tonight and accidentally picked up a bottle of pre mixed gin and tonic rather than a non alcoholic one. They were next to each other on the table..I only realised when I thought it tasted really realistic and checked the label to see which one it was. Can someone please tell me it'll be fine. I'm 12 weeks and it was 1.3 units 😔
