Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

@GeeinItLaldyX definitely! I've had a few absolute super fatigue crashes in the last week or so (first trimester style, if I don't lie down in the next 5 mins I'm falling asleep on my feet). And just generally struggling more when I have a bad night with the toddler. I think this is a big month for baby growth though so maybe she's sapping all my energy 😆

Aches also appearing here, earlier than last time but then my bump is considerably bigger than it was at this point last time too. Sciatica really twinging at the moment.

I'm 20+2 and feeling really tired like in the first trimester again. I have got a cold and a 1 year old and a 2 year old tho so that probably doesn't help 🤣 feel like I need to nap all the time

Wheeeeee · 05/02/2024 17:21

I'm 20+3 and to be honest feeling vastly more energetic than any time from about weeks 7 to 17, but I think that's more a function of how dire I found the first trimester. Can't imagine doing weights or peloton though so hats off to you @GeeinItLaldyX 😁 gentle walking and pilates is about all I'm up to at the moment.

MizzMarple · 05/02/2024 17:31

I’m exhausted and the sickness is getting worse not better. I’m in hospital at the moment as I just couldn’t keep anything down. Can’t believe I’ve got another 20 weeks of this!

Goldie1234 · 05/02/2024 22:41

Ooh no @MizzMarple I hope the docs help and you can get back home soon !! How awful !

@GeeinItLaldyX I feel very like this ! Also 20+5. Tonight was the first time I couldn't keep up with my gym class as well, but I'm hoping it was just a higher energy class than normal 😅 so totally exhausted though !

Finally have my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow (ha!) and then my scan on Wednesday yay !

Suchardchoccy · 07/02/2024 13:51

Is anyone constantly hungry around 20 weeks pregnant??

VJ88 · 07/02/2024 14:45

19+5 and SO HUNGRY! In the mornings especially. I currently seem to eat two breakfasts most days. But then later in the day my appetite sometimes really goes away.

MizzMarple · 07/02/2024 17:00

I had my 20 week scan today and I’m having another boy! I have to go back and have another scan in a couple of weeks as they couldn’t get all the measurements. They even sent me to have lunch and a walk around before trying again and he still wouldn’t get into a good position.

MizzMarple · 07/02/2024 17:03

Thanks on the hyperemesis thread link @Wheeeeee. I was ok it in a previous pregnancy and they were so kind and supportive. This pregnancy the sickness is so odd though. I can have days where I’m absolutely fine and then a run of really awful ones. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for it.

Maybebaby54321 · 08/02/2024 09:18

Hi everyone, I'm due June 7th with our 5th girl!!!

Congratulations to everyone for finally being halfway there!!! Time is going so slowly for me!!!!

I'm wondering if anyone in this or previous pregnancies have any experience with a small head circumference.
At my anomaly scan, I was told baby is small but has measurements within the normal range except a head circumference on the 4th percentile. I have to go back in for a growth scan on 15th Feb and I'm so incredibly worried because I stupidly googled when I left the hospital as the sonographer said when she re scans me, if the measurement is the same percentile she will refer me to fetal specialists.

A friend of mine told me they often get the measurements really wrong but I always thought that was further along in the pregnancy.

Suchardchoccy · 08/02/2024 10:27

@Maybebaby54321 congratulations!! 5 girls!! Wow I thought I was crazy expecting my 3rd girl 🤣 so exciting!! I have no idea about percentiles I'm sorry. I hope everything goes well at the next scan ❤️

Maybebaby54321 · 08/02/2024 10:33

@Suchardchoccy The house is crazy at times but I wouldn't have it any other way!!! My husband pretends it's hard work but they're all his princesses even tho he would have liked a boy.
Because the other 4 were big babies between 50th and 95th percentile, this one being so small is a worry, but hopefully it's just off measurements because baby was in a funny position.

Suchardchoccy · 09/02/2024 18:44

@Maybebaby54321 😍 absolutely! Everyone always says my DH must feel outnumbered but he loves having all girls.
I really hope it is just because she was in a funny position and a one off. Keep us updated!

Suchardchoccy · 09/02/2024 18:46

@VJ88 I'm the same it's mainly in the mornings! And afternoons 🤣

Suchardchoccy · 09/02/2024 18:47

I've got a cold atm and my nose is constantly blocked and I can't taste or smell anything. I had this for months in my last pregnancy, basically until I gave birth 😫 and sinusitis!!

MsNeis · 14/02/2024 16:20

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry because I seem to come here only with my worries 🙏But this one has hit me hard...
Today I ate unpasteurized cheese unknowingly, and I am sincerely very very verrrry worried. I am extra cautious with what I eat, and today I was going for a scan (my baby is growing beautifully and I feel so grateful and blessed for her 🙏) and ate a mini sandwich with hard cheese for breakfast. I didn't even think to ask if it was pasteurized cheese because I assumed they don't serve unpasteurized cheese at coffee shops! And, once I had eaten it, I overheard the waiter informing a pregnant woman who had just sat next to me that the cheeses were unpasteurized... I immediately felt so anxious and worried! It felt like a very bad joke or a nightmare!!
Fortunately, I had my scan a couple of hours later and informed my OB of the incident: she told me there's nothing I can do for the moment, and that if I develop a fever, I should go to the ER and report this. Then, I think because she saw my face, she told me that when she was pregnant (older woman, my mom's age maybe), they didn't even look for those things, they ate every kind of food without worrying. I know she said this to calm me, but I still feel so bad, thinking that I've put my daughter in danger with such a tiny thing...

Anyone here has been in my shoes? What should I do? I'm thinking maybe going to a private OB and order some blood tests to see if there's infection?
I'm so anxious and worried...

El1988 · 14/02/2024 19:27

Hey @MsNeis

oh I know this kind of fear so well! Honestly if it was a hard cheese I wouldn’t worry at all - the nhs and everything else I’ve checked says that unpasteurised hard cheese is safe to eat:

https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/

something to do with the low water content and high salt content making the hard cheeses a bad environment for the bacteria to grow.

it will definitely be ok ❤️ try not to worry, although I know that’s definitely easier said than done, sending massive hugs!

DemelzaRobins · 15/02/2024 10:10

I know someone who works on food related public health science - he told me a few years ago that hard unpasteurised cheeses are safe in pregnancy.

If you want to talk it through, maybe give your midwife a call? She will be able to reassure you.

The risk of getting an infection will be very, very small so please try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done.

Your OB is right though, until recently pregnant women will have eaten unpasteurised cheeses during pregnancy and drank raw milk as well (my granny certainly did as she lived on a farm and she had 6 healthy children).

MsNeis · 15/02/2024 14:59

Thank you very much, @El1988 and @DemelzaRobins 🙏💐
I feel better today, after my yesterday panic. The information about hard cheeses has calmed me to a degree, so thank you! It was a "manchego" cheese (from Spain, where I am) and, although I am not well versed in gourmet culture, it certainly wasn't soft, moldy cheese. I think it has to do with the aging process, and manchegos can vary from 30 days to 2 years maximum, from what I read.

Anyway, thanks again for the information and reassurance. Pregnancy puts you in a very vulnerable emotional place, really... And I guess I have to learn that I can't control every risk around me! If only I could remember the lesson 😅

DanisEndo · 15/02/2024 16:03

Glad you’re feeling better today @MsNeis pregnancy is defo a super vulnerable position and so easy to spiral with anxiety. I can only mirror what the others have said with taking some comfort in these guidances being new but also in if you’ve cut so much out already, one small slip up is going to have such minuscule risk associated. Keep an eye and speak to your midwife if you need to. but otherwise, deep breaths x

We have our 20 week scan tomorrow - I’m so beyond excited and can’t wait to find out the sex! the last 21 weeks have flown by I can’t begin to comprehend how quickly the next 19 will go!

Anyone else still shattered? I thought fatigue would have eased up by now lol

DanisEndo · 16/02/2024 13:17

Just back from our scan - all looking happy and healthy!
annnnnnd
were having a baby girl!!! 💗💗 I love her so much already.

Due June 24 💚 - Part 2
Mountainview8 · 17/02/2024 08:17

@DanisEndo aww that's lovely 🥰🥰

Are people staying to get regular movements? Mine still feels quite random at 24 weeks and have some quieter days.

cosylife · 17/02/2024 09:02

@Mountainview8 I’m 25 weeks today and I think I’m noticing patterns/routines. A few kicks in the morning, then lots in late morning/early afternoon. The absolutely full of energy and kicking away in the later evening. I have found that in my more active days, she’s a lot quieter which the midwives said is normal.

I feel like time has gone so quickly to get to 25 weeks but also that I’ve got so much more to wait and I’m getting impatient 😂

Wheeeeee · 17/02/2024 09:05

22 weeks and getting lots of movements, but it's my second so I think it's not unusual to feel things sooner, plus I know from my scan that the placenta is lateral/posterior. This baby does seem particularly lively - the sonographer was chasing him all over to get the images she needed. DS1 was similar, we nicknamed him Disco Baby. He's now 4 and only averagely off the wall 😅
