@BEL88 Hopefully that was movement you felt and it will give you reassurance. Once I'd had my 20 week scan and could feel proper kicks and much more movement everyday it was such a relief. I've had a couple of days of dark brown stringy discharge twice this pregnancy and even woke up to some fresh red blood at 14 weeks but all was okay.

I've packed my hospital bag today and it felt so surreal like somehow it's only just sinking in. Ordered a new changing mat and crib mattress and going to stock up on newborn nappies on monday, want to get through as much of my 'to buy' list as possible before Christmas 😅

suz2285 · 18/11/2023 20:30

@WhiteHorse92 when are you due again?

It's starting to sink in now over here too! My bags are mostly packed just some of my stuff/snacks etc to pack!

I've started wrapping Xmas gifts and wanting to finish that and I've got a few bits to do over Xmas and then it's real after that!!

WhiteHorse92 · 18/11/2023 20:55

@suz2285 my due date is 19th Jan!

Got quite a lot in my bag but preparing for every eventuality 😅. I've packed the oldest grottiest pants I could find at the bottom of my chest of drawers, some random old sports bras for the birthing pool (if I make it there this time), just need to buy a cheap nightie to wear if I don't have a waterbirth. Got an assortment of those thick tena lady pads and normal sanitary pads as I can't remember which was better after giving birth 😂😂

SparkleFly · 18/11/2023 20:58

Ooh how exciting that some of you are packing your hospital bags now 🥰 goes without saying that you will need ALL the snacks.

@BEL88 try not to worry but I'd speak to your antenatal team in case they want to check you out. I'm also 17 weeks and in early pregnancy I had a small amount of pink/brown blood which turned out to be irritation on my cervix (can't remember what the proper name was). Apparently it's very common in pregnant women and self limiting so they might check you for that. Let us know how you get on.

Last weekend I noticed my belly had suddenly 'popped' and I actually looked pregnant! So that reassured me for a few days but now I'm back to fretting as they say with 2nd pregnancy you can feel movements from 16 weeks and I haven't felt much. Just need to get to this 20 week scan in 3 weeks!! I have a consultant appointment in a week and a half but I'm not sure that'll tell me much?! 🤷‍♀️

Brokenpancreas94 · 18/11/2023 21:21

@SparkleFly I didn't feel movement till quite late this time round and it's my second too, so I wouldn't worry too much!

Arghhh I really need to pack mine but even though I've done this before I've not got a clue what to pack 🙈@WhiteHorse92 @suz2285

Brokenpancreas94 · 18/11/2023 21:22

@WhiteHorse92 defo the thick ones!! I used them last time and they were good against the trouser line after having a section too!

suz2285 · 18/11/2023 21:44

@WhiteHorse92 I got the thick maternity pads from boots cos everyone said they were the best! I've also got period pants and my maternity pants and disposable pants 😂😂

@Brokenpancreas94 I'll send you my lists tomorrow! But I just made them up from what everyone else was saying, and tried not to pack too much!

@SparkleFly I feel like that's come round quick! Prob not for you 😂 the first tri fully sucks! I felt flutters around 16-17 weeks but it was tiny and not regular! And it depends where your placenta is as well...

Brokenpancreas94 · 18/11/2023 21:53

@suz2285 thank you! I mean all I know to pack so far is all of my cannulas, infusion sets and insulin 😂 and obviously clothes for me and baby but that's about it. Keep telling myself "oh I'll start packing my bag in the next couple of days" but then I don't! 🙈

tulipsunday · 19/11/2023 07:41

You have inspired me to start to get organised. I found the boots pads inside one of the disposable nappies good for heavy bleeding days then just had the pads.

I brought my own pillow which was nice last time so will do that again. Gave birth on Sat morning last time and didn't get home till the Wednesday so quite a while for a vaginal birth so hoping will get home quicker this time xx

I started taking iron tablets about 9 days before this scare so wondering if it's that. My urine does seem quite dark this morning so gonna really up my water intake today. I thought I was drinking enough but doesn't seem like it!

suz2285 · 19/11/2023 09:31

@tulipsunday I was not gonna bother with pillow or birthing gown just thinking I'll use what's there but I see so many people saying they loved feeling more comfy?!

@BEL88 definitely need to drink a lot more than you think! People say I drink sooo much all the time. But even I've been dehydrated every morning now! And during the day sometimes too! It's soo much water you have to drink, if you're thinking you've got 50% more blood volume it makes sense you need to drink so much 😂

Brokenpancreas94 · 19/11/2023 14:19

@suz2285 I'm defo not drinking enough, I'm the worst for it, think I've told you that before though haha.

@tulipsunday I'm the least organised person going 😂😂

Feeling rubbish today, got the start of a cold and feel super sick (think from the side effects of the oral thrush treatment) the joys of being on antibiotics for a long period of time!
Heartburn has proper ramped up as well 🙈

SparkleFly · 19/11/2023 19:39

@tulipsunday good shout about the pillow, this was recommended to me with my first but then lockdown happened and the hospital was super strict with how much we could take. I'll definitely be taking one this time. In fact I'll probably end up packing loads just because I could barely bring anything last time so this time I'm going fully stocked!!

I'm also not drinking enough water. Doesn't help with the constipation 🙃

tulipsunday · 20/11/2023 20:05

@SparkleFly I will probably pack a lot as well 😂

@Brokenpancreas94 hope you are feeling ok. I have had heartburn too.

@suz2285 I remember it was v hot in the ward last time so think I just wore some light pyjamas. I also get the morning thirst. I don't think I drink enough so just improve.

Started a pregnancy yoga class (better late than never) 😂 hoping will be good for the final stretch

OP posts:
Brokenpancreas94 · 20/11/2023 20:11

@tulipsunday it seems to be constant now, gaviscon isn't helping much either 🙈
Oh god yes the ward was so hot last time, and know it will be this time around as you can feel the heat when you walk past the wards here 🙈

suz2285 · 21/11/2023 06:58

@tulipsunday I wear shorts even in winter in bed so yeah I've got pj shorts and T-shirt as well, I'll prob be boiling but hoping not to be in too long!

@Brokenpancreas94 seems to be the time for heartburn and reflux for sure! I'm so glad I got that omeprazole tbh!

Well my chiropractor last night literally took 20 or so mins and was super expensive BUT the movement I've got back from one small adjustment 🥳 feel so much more like myself again! I'm back next week to check it's gonna stay aligned, my right hip was up at a funny angle, I slept so much better and I'm moving so much easier and less painful! Now to just try and do some short walks to make sure it's not too painful and hopefully this can keep me going the next few weeks! I also need to do my stretches @tulipsunday cos i was thinking the other day 8 weeks of stretches is more than enough to make a huge difference, if I can just motivate myself to do them a few times a week 😂👌

sweetpotato29 · 21/11/2023 11:38

Hey all, it's interesting to read about the highs and lows of those who are ahead on this pregnancy journey 😅 I am 19 weeks now and past few days have been v uncomfortable. Just really achy across my stomach and actually painful sometimes. I can't find a good position trying to sleep and all my clothes are feeling uncomfortable... is this it now? Does it get any better 😩🤣

TheBirdintheCave · 21/11/2023 12:20

@sweetpotato29 Post birth yes 😅 Oh the joy of being able to lie on my stomach again after my son was born. It was bliss (for two hours before I had to get up to feed him lol).

suz2285 · 21/11/2023 13:13

@sweetpotato29 depends, I felt quite stretchy and uncomfortable at various points, between 14-18 weeks I had really bad ligament pain, then i'd say around 24-25 weeks I felt like my skin was really tight, then 30-32 weeks hip pain... But the weeks inbetween it settled down again, so it's hard to say.... I feel like mine comes in waves 😂

My sister sent me a pic of when she took a photo when i was like 18-19 weeks along saying hey remember when we thought you looked pregnant, if you compare it to now at 33 almost weeks it's a crazy difference! so who knows.... I guess everyone is different with the aches and pains, but yes, as bump grows it's difficult to find a comfy position that's for sure!

tulipsunday · 21/11/2023 18:23

@suz2285 glad you have felt some benefits since the chiropractor. Hoping my NHS physio appointment tomorrow may be useful but feel that probably private osteopath/chiropractors etc are more effective.

OP posts:
sweetpotato29 · 21/11/2023 19:19

Thanks @suz2285 and @TheBirdintheCave ! I wasn't expecting the ligament pain to be so painful, was hoping that wasn't going to be the status quo going forwards! Hopefully it comes and goes as you said. And yes omg can't wait to be able to lay on my stomach 😅 April seems like a long way away.

tulipsunday · 21/11/2023 19:52

@sweetpotato29 hope you get a bit of relief soon. I have definitely had periods of it coming and going

OP posts:
sweetpotato29 · 21/11/2023 20:52

Thanks @tulipsunday hope that you enjoy the yoga class! I go to one and the stretches we do have been helping with some of the pain actually! I'm trying to do 10mins or so a day

Brokenpancreas94 · 22/11/2023 15:53

@suz2285 heartburn has settled weirdly...not complaining though haha x

@tulipsunday hope your physio appointment went well!

@sweetpotato29 yes the ligament pain isn't pleasant is it. Even sneezing seems painful now for me haha.

Have such an annoying cough now, I feel so fed up lol, feel like all I do is complain x

suz2285 · 22/11/2023 17:30

@Brokenpancreas94 well I'm not feeling ace tonight at all, started feeling meh at lunchtime and husband has just came home and said he's not feeling great either

We've got our hypnobirth class this weekend so I'm really hoping we don't feel too ill cos I doubt we'll get a refund on it! Typical! Let's hope it's just a meh feeling for a few days! 🙈

Happy with the midwife today tho, fundal height is back in 'normal' range so no more scans for now and don't have to go back till just before Xmas! 🥳 he's head down and happy!
