Thanks @tulipsunday

Welcome, @SunshineAndRainbows6 ! You have come to the right place as there’s plenty of anxious women awaiting their rainbow baby here happy to hand hold. How far on are you? X

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 10/01/2024 20:13

@Hoping4amiracle Thank you 🙏🏼 that means a lot and I definitely feel better knowing I have somewhere to talk and see others experiences and healthy pregnancy's 🌈🤰🏻

I am currently 5 weeks today 🙏🏼 I went for a 9 week private scan with my last to be told baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks 😔 I hadn't had any bleeding or cramps, was having full blown pregnancy symptoms still and was super sick most days 🤢 So this time around I'm so nervous but trying not to stress as much as I can.... it's hard when people say 'lots of symptoms and sickness is good, because it shows the hormones are rising etc...' obviously to me that wasn't the case so I am trying not to look too deeply at symptoms at the moment 🙏🏼

What about yourself? How far along are you? ✨🥰

Hoping4amiracle · 10/01/2024 22:10

I so get what you are saying @SunshineAndRainbows6 - I didn’t have much nausea and sickness and that freaked me out as well. Midwife said not to read much into symptoms.

Im 12 weeks and would love to say I have found some tips for managing anxiety in first trimester but I haven’t. All I can say is that it won’t last forever - just take it one step at a time. Xx

Brokenpancreas94 · 10/01/2024 23:25

Hi all,
Baby Harrison arrived this morning at 9:50am weighing a whopping 10lbs 4oz (well we think that's his weight) it's either that or 9lbs 2! He is currently in neonatal as he had issues with breathing but he came off of CPAP at 6pm! And is doing a lot better, they just need to monitor his feeds now and his blood sugars due to my type 1 diabetes, but he is doing well! Had my first skin to skin with him earlier which was amazing! Hopefully he can come out of neonatal soon, they are taking him out of the incubator tonight! X

Hope everyone else is doing okay, and welcome to the newcomers, wishing you all luck xx

WhiteHorse92 · 11/01/2024 00:04

@Brokenpancreas94 awww that's lovely 😍. Glad he's doing a lot better now!

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 11/01/2024 06:08

@Brokenpancreas94 Oh my Lord, how lovely! Congratulations to you all 😍 Glad he's doing better now 🙏🏼

@Hoping4amiracle Thank you 🙏🏼 I know what you mean, I don't think any of us will ever feel 100% relaxed until baby is in our arms 🙌🏻 I have gotten myself into a right mess this morning..... So according to my app I am 5 weeks 1 day, I knew roughly when I was suppose to ovulate from an OPK..... anyway I woke up this morning and did a CB test with FMU and it's still reading at 1-2 weeks 😭 I am freaking out!!! Has anyone else had this? Surely it should be 2-3 weeks now 🙏🏼😔✨

TheBirdintheCave · 11/01/2024 08:34

@Brokenpancreas94 Congratulations! :D And what a large lad too! :O I hope you managed to catch up on some sleep whilst he was in the NICU and get lots and lots of newborn snuggles today 😍

J2023xx · 11/01/2024 09:40

Congratulations @Brokenpancreas94 ❤️

WolfMother326 · 11/01/2024 09:56

Hello all, would you mind if I join? Was wondering if anyone has had positive experiences with taking progesterone/cyclogest to avoid miscarriage.

I'm 39 and pregnant for the 3rd time. I had my son in 2021 and then a missed miscarriage in September 2023. I'm now 5+4. I had a tiny bit of implantation spotting at 4w and then had a scan that looked good this week.

The hospital prescribed me progesterone after the spotting. I'm kind of hesitant to take it, as I don't know if I need it (not currently bleeding, had a previous successful pregnancy). Just looking for advice or handholding I guess. I'd feel awful if I didn't take it and had another loss, but I'm worried about side effects, like that it could cause spotting.

Thanks for any thoughts x

tulipsunday · 11/01/2024 09:57

@Brokenpancreas94 so so happy to hear of Harrison's arrival and that he is doing well.Hopefully you can have more snuggles soon.

@SunshineAndRainbows6 I know those weeks ones are not always reliable and can cause anxiety so🤞all is well.

Hi all. Some advice please. I had a scan yesterday at 6+3 and everything looked fine. However today I’ve had some brown discharge - not a lot, just a little when I’ve wiped. I feel really panicked about this now and I’m not sure what to think. Has anyone else had this and it been okay?

I rang the EPU and they have said to try not to worry and to keep an eye on things

Hoping4amiracle · 11/01/2024 11:34

@Brokenpancreas94 congratulations on the arrival of baby Harrison - hope you get more baby cuddles soon. Xx

Hoping4amiracle · 11/01/2024 11:36

Hi,

We had bleeding during the week so I know how frightening it is @Khanga27 .

Im no expert but I think they say brown is ok, it’s old blood and as long as there’s no clots. Fingers crossed it tapers off x

Hoping4amiracle · 11/01/2024 11:40

Hi,

@WolfMother326 ive been on cyclogest from three days post ovulation. I’m convinced it’s made the difference this time round and nervous coming off it.

I did have a bit of spotting but then switched to using it via back door (sorry no nice way to say it) but the spotting stopped - I think it just irritated the cervix.

xx

Hoping4amiracle · 11/01/2024 11:45

@SunshineAndRainbows6 I did those clearblue tests and they caused me so much anxiety. I didn’t get a 3+ until I was 6+ 2 (rather than 5 weeks) and literally couple of days later had my first scan and baby was there with a heartbeat - they had me convinced it was another loss. Xx

sweetpotato29 · 11/01/2024 12:52

Congratulations @Brokenpancreas94 !! What a cute name, hope that you can all get home soon & enjoy newborn bubble.

Glad to hear scan went well and all ok @Hoping4amiracle

Welcome @SunshineAndRainbows6 sorry you had to go through that, we can all relate here 💔 anxiety will be hard, I would see if you're able to book some private scans for reassurance?

I am 26 weeks now and baby is kicking away all day and all night 💞 love to read everyone's updates & sending lots of love.

Khanga27 · 11/01/2024 17:40

@Hoping4amiracle thank you for reply. My anxiety has been sky high. Had no bleeding brown or otherwise since this morning, but has felt a little uncomfortable from where I had the internal scan. It was a trainee sonographer I think as the main sonographer that I had before for my miscarriage was supervising, and on three occasions I had to say it felt uncomfortable. I’m really worried that the scan may have caused the start of a miscarriage.

Hoping4amiracle · 11/01/2024 17:58

Hello @Khanga27 , they do say the cervix is really sensitive in pregnancy which is why you often get spotting after sex. So perhaps that’s causing the discomfort.

I’d say if it’s tapering off that is positive. I spoke to the midwife about mental health in pregnancy as anxiety has been sky high - they can make referrals to a nurse qualifies in trauma x

May5th · 11/01/2024 21:12

@WolfMother326 I'm also 39 and currently 17+4 weeks, I have an 11 year old and then 4 consecutive miscarriages over the last few years. First miscarriage was 14 wks but the others were all between 7-9 weeks. Tests have been done but nothing was found as the cause. With this pregnancy I was given progesterone from 7 weeks straight after an early reassurance scan showed baby was in the right place. I was also given aspirin from booking appointment onwards. I was given progesterone although I had no bleeds at the time. I genuinely think progesterone is what has made the difference this time that I’ve gotten this far. I even felt sad I wasn’t offered it with previous pregnancies.

I had a bleed at 12+4 but that was a heamatoma and all was fine with baby ( it’s since disappeared). All my scans have been fine so far, I’ve now had quite few because I’ve had various consultant appointments due to my previous and baby is doing fine and growing. I finished progesterone at 16 wks (last week) and felt worried but it’s been fine so as the days and weeks go by I’m getting less anxious about it all. I would definitely go on progesterone next time and wish I would’ve asked about it before.
I hope everything goes well for you.

Cheetocat · 12/01/2024 11:37

Bit of a morbid question, feel free to ignore.

I lost a baby at 11 weeks in 2022 and obviously had to go through a kind of labour and contractions as I opted not to have surgery. How different is labour at full term? Is it a lot more painful or is the pain mainly from a full sized baby being forced out of you? I'm going to be 35w tomorrow with my rainbow baby and this has been playing on my mind.

TheBirdintheCave · 12/01/2024 14:12

@Cheetocat I can't compare as I did the surgical option I'm afraid. BUT I can say that labour can be fine. I got lucky and had a long but relatively simple labour with minimal pain. There's every chance your labour will be fine :) My tip would be to do a lot of research into different types of births and all of the interventions that could happen. Knowledge is power. The more you know and are prepared for the less afraid you will be.

tulipsunday · 12/01/2024 16:45

@Cheetocat I saw someone ask this question recently on another thread. Consensus seemed to be that full term labour is more painful but as it is a positive event you know you are meeting your baby that gets you through as it were. I was fortunate in that my miscarriages weren't too painful. Epidural got me through labour 😊

Hey ladies 👋🏼

Sorry I feel like I've missed loads, just am trying to go through all of the messages I've missed 🙏🏼

Has anyone had Beta bloods drawn in the early stages... I believe I am 22 dpo today roughly 5 weeks pregnant according to my app ✨ and my result was 143 this morning 😞 I feel like that's so low... I've got another booked for Tuesday, I'm just praying it doubles 🙏🏼

Please tell me I'm stressing for no reason 🌈😮‍💨

WolfMother326 · 13/01/2024 12:05

@Hoping4amiracle thanks for replying, I'm so glad to hear it's working for you. I can't use it rectally as I have Crohns disease. So I'll try it vaginally but just try not to panic if I do spot. I'm away from the UK for 3 weeks visiting my family in the US, so I can't go get scanned if I do spot but I guess I would know if something was really wrong as my MC symptoms were pretty obvious and not just a bit of spotting. I was able to get scanned and bring the prescription with me.

@May5th congratulations on your pregnancy! Sounds like you've had a really tough time, great that this time around is better. Its really helpful to hear from someone that has a previous child and now maybe having problems with progesterone. Maybe it's our age? I haven't researched that. May I ask, have you had any side effects from the cyclogest like spotting? I am going to start it this evening and just helpful to know others' experiences. Thanks.

HopeAndStrength · 13/01/2024 15:17

I've been thinking about this as well @Cheetocat as I had a painful MC at 12 weeks. I'm 38 weeks now, and hoping that the excitement of meeting my little one will get me through.
