Eloise is a lovely name, I have a name picked out for the gender I think we're having. ๐Ÿ™ˆ
Is everyone waiting til the 20 week scan to find out or going for early scans from 16 weeks?
Also just noticed boots have buy one get one free on all vitamins today just incase anyone uses them โ˜บ๏ธ

Bims2019 · 04/07/2023 08:43

Eloise is lovely, and I agree it would be a nice tribute to your mum! We have a few girl names we like but really struggling for boys. @Flossiepot Going to try and wait for 20 week scan but there's always a chance I'll cave and book an early one!

I'm 14 weeks today, can't believe it. Does anyone else feel like it's going so quickly but also really slow at the same time?

Lilothblos · 04/07/2023 08:50

Thanks all! I guess theyโ€™ll probably be called Ellie / Lissie most of the time anyway so hopefully not too confusing.
@Bims2019 I feel the same! I feel like weeks 4-10 went SO slowly but now itโ€™s speeding up! Canโ€™t believe weโ€™re second trimester already.

PartRadish · 04/07/2023 09:01

We're really going to struggle for a girls name. We've never needed to think about them before because it's always been a boy usually ๐Ÿ˜‚ Plus all of the girls names I like have been used by family/friends already!

I'm also still not convinced its actually a girl tbh, spent most of the last 48 hours Googling 'NIPT gender wrong' and it appears surprisingly common ๐Ÿ˜ 4.5 weeks until we can get a confirmation scan ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

PartRadish · 04/07/2023 09:03

That said I've also ordered more than one teeny tiny dress so my plan to just wait for the scan at 16 weeks is clearly going well ๐Ÿคฃ

Luhou · 04/07/2023 09:11

George asda have got some maternity bits in the sale. Ordered a couple of work type dresses yesterday.

Still being sick here. 11weeks

Mushroo · 04/07/2023 09:16

@Lilothblos i think Elouise is lovely and a nice tribute to your mum without being โ€˜matchyโ€™

Weve picked out a girls name (I think) - will see if I still like it in 6 months!

@buckingmad my cold is driving me mad. I feel disgusting and keep worrying itโ€™s going to harm the baby. Canโ€™t wait to stop sniffling.

buckingmad · 04/07/2023 09:27

@Mushroo as long as youโ€™re keeping hydrated and donโ€™t have a bad fever baby will be absolutely fine. They wonโ€™t even know anything is amiss! Our bodies are fab at keeping them protected.

Being sick and pregnant (non morning sickness related) is a new experience for me though. First baby was during covid so I didnโ€™t see anyone to pick anything up from! Toddler and I are both currently in bed sniffling and coughing watching peppa and having cuddles. So every cloud!

suz2285 · 04/07/2023 09:29

@Luhou good tip! Did you order them online? Or in store?

I've got a list of names on the go and then husband comes along and hates them all ๐Ÿ˜‚ planning to try and have a gender scan around week 18 so will maybe get a better idea then!

Need to get through the 12 week scan on Friday first ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

My hips and back are killing the last couple of days, forced myself to get up and do yoga this morning to stretch a bit which did feel good but also looking down at my legs during downward dog and they look so flabby and fatty! Prob partly cos I've not been doing any strength training for months now, but eugh!! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

JaffaCake123 · 04/07/2023 09:36

Marking my place on the new thread ๐Ÿฅฐ

Lraine86 · 04/07/2023 09:48

@Luhou appreciate the heads up. I like Asdaโ€™s stuff so will order online. I threw up 45 mins before my 12 week scan and drank another pint of water to be on the safe side. Still dealing with nausea at almost 13 weeks. The joys of being pregnant

Luhou · 04/07/2023 09:57

@Lraine86 @suz2285 I ordered online, they had a reasonable amount of size yesterday wheh I looked.

RG9895 · 04/07/2023 10:14

Thank you for the tag! Totally didn't realise we needed a new one โ˜บ๏ธ 13 weeks today so officially in the 2nd trimester! Not that it feels like it, sickness is still kicking my butt!

lilluce95 · 04/07/2023 10:25

Just checking in on the new thread!

I'm 11 weeks today and I have my scan next week but feeling a bit deflated as my symptoms have kind of gone (or reduced massively!) is this normal? Don't want to work myself up over nothing โ˜น๏ธ

WitcheryDivine · 04/07/2023 10:29

Hello, thanks for the new thread.

Whoever mentioned coal tar shampoo (T Gel) on the other thread - wth? I had no idea and use mine all the time as I have eczema and it stops the itch so well. That's annoying. Hate that panic when you think you must have broken your baby. I was using lavender shower gel as well (Lush Sleepy) so that was a previous worry. Woke up in the night absolutely terrified that I'm not up to doing this pregnancy and worrying so much about everything. Quick, someone tell me that's normal!

WitcheryDivine · 04/07/2023 10:30

@Bims2019 you're one day ahead of me and I do know what you mean, I am not counting the days in the exact same way (except today when feeling anxious)

Vikki7 · 04/07/2023 10:37

Hi ladies!

Checking in on part 4. Thanks for the new thread! 14+1 today, the speed is picking up when you're not as symptomatic ๐Ÿ‘

Good luck to those with scans today. Hope it's all perfect for you.

PartRadish · 04/07/2023 10:46

@WitcheryDivine Totally normal in my experience. I've done this 3 times before and I'm still terrified that I'm going to mess it up. Growing a whole human is a huge responsibility but I have to keep reminding myself that something like 2000 babies are born a day in the UK and we're designed to do this. It only helps about 20% of the time but still ๐Ÿ˜…

WitcheryDivine · 04/07/2023 11:04

Thanks so much @PartRadish - I'll try to do some calm breathing this evening and stop panicking

Bims2019 · 04/07/2023 11:05

@WitcheryDivine yep I'm with you about counting days, find myself doing it less until I really think about it. Btw I also have eczema and have been merrily using coal tar shampoo throughout pregnancy, why are there all these things that we wouldn't even think about?! If it makes you feel any better I also carried on using steroid cream at first, until I thought to check. It's the only thing that really helps and have been worried since that I might've hurt baby... but everything seemed to be ok at the 12 week scan so hoping it's not a big deal. I'm sure we can try to do everything right and still get it wrong sometimes!

sashastuck · 04/07/2023 11:32

@Lilothblos love the name. And Lissie as a nickname is adorable!
@Flossiepot Iโ€™ve booked a gender scan for 16 weeks.

Regarding names, weโ€™ve had our boy name forever but just picked a girl name last week. My partnerโ€™s cousin only went and called her dog the same name (Marley) ๐Ÿ™ƒ back to the drawing board for me!!

@WitcheryDivine it was me who mentioned the shampoo! I emailed my midwife about it - she called me yesterday and said to take it to a pharmacy to check the ingredients. I do think sparingly itโ€™d be fine, one of those cases of โ€˜not enough researchโ€™, but similarly Iโ€™m going to check at the pharmacy. Will report back!

Kalodin · 04/07/2023 11:37

Nooo that's so annoying @sashastuck ! You definitely not wanting to use it anyway?

We have a girls name picked out (Clara) since we were pregnant with DS1. Boys names... well after already naming 3, considering a 4th is tricky. I think DH wants a girl as he does keep researching the chances of having a girl and he wants us to find out sex early.

Urgh don't even get me started! My hands and arms are covered in eczema and resisting using the steroid cream has been incredibly hard, I look like a dinosaur from the wrists down (hopefully only from the wrists down!).

@Lilothblos I like Eloise but have a close friend with one and it does sound identical to Louise if you're hearing it from a distance like called across the park/from another room. Personally I think it's similar enough that you can only really do it if you're naming her directly after your mum. It's a bit similar to Liza/Eliza.

Bims2019 · 04/07/2023 11:52

@WitcheryDivine poor you, dino hands are no fun and it's so horrible when it's flared up. I was told hydrocortisone was fine but that does absolutely nothing, so doctor prescribed me betnovate RD cream instead which is weaker than my usual stuff. Apparently very little (if any) goes into your blood stream but I do understand not wanting to take the risk!

Our cat is called Teddy and my SIL then called her baby Teddy. Itโ€™s fine! If you really love the name I wouldnโ€™t let that stop you.
