@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese it's hard hearing all this bad news isn't it? Even harder to then not panic about our own. Unfortunately it's unavoidable and my heart goes out to everyone that has had bad news

@Kalodin unfortunately not, after 2 previous sections it'll 100% have to be another section for me

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 12:48

I'm going for a VBAC after 2CSs @cossie13 , although my first DS was a vaginal birth so I do have that experience. Did your consultant automatically rule out VBAC or you preferring a CS? I'm so nervous about having another CS, I've stated I'd need under GA if I was to have one.

Mummyme87 · 14/06/2023 12:58

Scan all good. Measuring bang on 9weeks. Little bean bouncing around. She said there was some blood sitting that may come out or reabsorb but nothing to worry about.

@Kalodin I had a VBAC last baby and will go for VBAC again. The risk after 2 sections is more or less the same as after one, obviously other factors may increase risk and reason for previous sections may push towards a repeat elective.

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 13:07

Yeah @Mummyme87 I've done a bit of research on it and my MW and Consultant have said they'll be supportive of however I choose, although part of me wonders if that's because they're partly expecting it to be an EMCS pre term birth again.

From what I've found on Google Scholar the stats are along these lines;

  • Uterine Rupture in all births is at 0.2%
  • VBAC1 UR risk is at 0.7%
  • VBAC2 UR risk is at 1.3%
  • Success rate for both VBAC1 and VBAC2 is at 75%
  • Risk of death and life changing injuries for both mum and baby is equal for repeat CS and VBAC2

Indicators for Successful VBAC

  • More than 2 years since last C.S.
  • Previous vaginal birth
  • Previous spontaneous labour
  • Lower segment horizontal scar
  • Healthy mother
  • Non reoccurring reasons for Previous C.S.
  • Spontaneous labour for VBAC
Kalodin · 14/06/2023 13:08

What did you find helped prepare you for you VBAc though @Mummyme87

Mummyme87 · 14/06/2023 13:12

@Kalodin nothing really. I was just pretty adamant that’s what I was doing after a traumatic delivery with DS1. The odds were against me, I was induced, big baby, late onset diabetes… but I did it, had a 3rd degree tear and a 2.5L blood loss but I did it and I was happy.

cossie13 · 14/06/2023 13:18

@Kalodin it was ruled out immediately after my last section. The surgeon who performed my section with DD said that when she'd opened me up it was apparent that the surgeon who had performed my section with DS hadn't done something the way he should have done and that a VBAC in future would be considered dangerous. I might see if I can sit down with someone to go over the notes so I can fully understand. All I know is that they become reluctant to induce after c-sections because it stretches the scar tissue too quickly and because I had cholestasis with in my last pregnancy, I'm likely to have it again which means an earlier delivery than due date.

Hope that makes sense, I may have overly complicated that!

WitcheryDivine · 14/06/2023 13:29

@CaptainMuddle I'm really sorry to hear about your scan today, lots of fresh air and walking (and distracting stupid things like the cinema) helped me under similar circumstances. Praying for better news next week but I understand you wanting to just accept it now.

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 13:30

That's is impressive as you did have a lost of things against you there stats wise @Mummyme87 !

Definitely get someone to talk through previous 2 CSs @cossie13 - I'd certainly want clarity on what happened with that first CS!

ItsAJourney · 14/06/2023 13:44

@CaptainMuddle So sorry today didn’t go well. I agree, a day of distraction sounds like the sensible thing to do.

Dannic2018 · 14/06/2023 14:00

So sorry @CaptainMuddle it’s so heartbreaking. Lots of fresh air and keeping yourself busy sounds good. Take care

why can’t life be easy for us ? I’m happy in a strange way that others feel exactly how I have and the anxiety is just another level. I always think everything happens for a reason and as much as it’s painful things happen at the time for a reason. Forever hopeful for a healthy rainbow baby 🌈

1992H · 14/06/2023 14:15

Sorry to hear your sad news 🙁 take care of yourself.

I had my booking appt today, and had the same midwife as my last two so it was lovely, though homebirth provision is considerably scaled back to last time, but she’s hoping it is workable at the time as I had a successful one last time & apparently there are strings to pull if needed. Fingers crossed-I’ll be gutted if I have to go in.

suz2285 · 14/06/2023 14:38

@1992H Had my booking in today as well, loads of questions, coming out at low risk so that's good, few things to keep an eye on, waiting for my scan letter now

Moved my next scan to this Friday just to check all ok but nervous now for that 🤞 think if all ok after that I might feel better at least for a week or two until my nhs scan, we shall see 😂😂

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 14:58

MW just phoned to say they'll be starting me on Progesterone tomorrow, anyone else had this before?

Dannic2018 · 14/06/2023 15:10

@Kalodin I’ve been on it since 5 weeks two, twice a day 😩

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 15:17

How you finding it @Dannic2018 ? She's hoping it will prevent early labour again

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 15:17

Also .... we need a new thread set up!

sashastuck · 14/06/2023 15:45

Yep 6 posts left until it cuts off, we need a new one!!

@CaptainMuddle I’m so sorry to hear your news. The worry whilst waiting must be agony but I hope you manage to keep distracted and busy. Sending you love xx

@Mummyme87 Glad your scan went well! X

Dannic2018 · 14/06/2023 16:02

@Kalodin they take a bit to get used too as it’s trying to fit in the morning one with life as you have to stay still for 20 mins or so which is pretty impossible with a toddler, work and school runs. So I advise to wear a panty liner as they are messy. Night time is fine as I do it before I go to sleep. I’m tired and a bit of a moody moo but who knows if that’s just standard 🤣🤣

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 14/06/2023 16:36

My booking in went well, I've been classed as high risk this time due to ds birth weight. Although tbh I think he was always going to be small with who his parent are 🤣 so I will be on aspirin from 12 week and will have extra scans (the positive on this is that this is likely to be pil last grandchild and I don't think my brother will have children in the UK if at all, so can take the grandparents to scans) I'm feeling a bit nervous about being high risk, but then there's a lot of provision, so I don't feel so bad.

Midwife said a home birth would be possible if I want one, and after looking at my labor notes, she said it may even be safer with the speed of my last labor...

Kalodin · 14/06/2023 18:35

Oh I'm gonna be so full of thrush creams and Progesterone 😂 @Dannic2018 Didn't realise I'll need in AM as well! Wonder if the commute to work is still enough? Only time I reckon I'll be stationary enough (also due to young children making mornings impossible to keep still!)

TrudyProud · 14/06/2023 19:14
