I’m avoiding sex until after 12 weeks as I’m still breastfeeding and I read when I was pregnant last time (ended in mc) that an orgasm whilst pregnant and bf can cause miscarriage, I know it’s probably not true but you know when you just can’t get it out of your head? Plus I’m doing pessaries twice a day and just got all clear that the synchronic bleed has gone so he can wait a few more weeks 🤣🤣

also just got phone call off midwife for booking In appointment (I’m 9w 3days ) and I have to go on Thursday at 1pm or I’ll be too late the week after for them to book me in for my scan 😳 I know I only rang last week after my scan as I’m scared I’m jinx things but she’s made me feel paranoid now 🤣🤣

CaptainMuddle · 12/06/2023 13:39

Bleeding went from brown to dark red (with tissue and clots) and has continued since Saturday night, with mild cramps. Spoke to a midwife on the phone yesterday and she said it could be implantation but if I’m worried and it continues, to go to A&E. I gather A&E will refer to EPU and arrange for a scan within 72hrs anyway, and we have a scan booked for first thing Weds morning, so I thought I’d just wait for that.

DP and I aren’t optimistic about the scan but at least we will know either way. It’s our first pregnancy but we knew there was a relatively high chance of MC.

Feeling like a zombie at work today, so have come home to work for the afternoon, but due back in tomorrow. So hard to focus with the cramping… and I’m meant to be speaking at a conference in a week’s time. I was planning to tell my line manager after Wednesday’s scan anyway, so if it’s bad news I may have a chat with them then.

suz2285 · 12/06/2023 13:46

@Gremlin84 I've heard of a few people being diagnosed with a uti with no symptoms at their booking in appointment! And a good tip I'll make sure to drink water before mine, though it's at lunch time so that's better! And good to know your appointment letters all came though quickly as I'd like to know when my scans are!

@Dannic2018 never heard that one before, you read all sorts online though 😂

@CaptainMuddle sorry to hear about your situation, glad you've got the scan booked in for Wednesday, it's so difficult to focus on anything while going through something like that

If you’re on The Gram you must follow Olivia Hinge - she’s a midwife and training lactation consultation who is hilarious: https://instagram.com/olivia_lactation_consultant?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

She’s just done a story on the lack of help for breastfeeding which made me giggle. Her hands on videos for all things breastfeeding are the only reason I made it to 6 weeks with my first (we had a bit of rough time with breastfeeding) and ultimately prompted me to seek (paid for) help.

Also, just to put this out there - we ultimately happily combi fed with my first and, all being well, will probably do so from quite early on with this one. Just for anyone who ends up in the position of wanting/needing to use formula at some point - there is no shame.

Not training - Olivia is a fully trained lactation consultant!

Wondering if anyone else is struggling with dizziness/lightheadedness? I have low blood pressure which has dropped even more with pregnancy (I’m 11 weeks today) and everytime I stand up, I feel like I’m going to faint. At the weekend, my vision totally went and I ended up getting on the floor and waiting until I could see again. I think it might be exacerbated by the heat. Had to ring in sick today as I’m a teacher and I move classrooms every lesson-none of the rooms I teach in are air conditioned and it gets extremely hot in warm weather. Couldn’t risk fainting in front of a class of kids and I didn’t feel well enough to work regardless. I’m drinking loads of water and anaemia has been ruled out but wondered if anyone else was struggling with dizziness?

sashastuck · 12/06/2023 15:45

@Dannic2018 this has put me off sex - I’ve had maybe 4 orgasms since the week of finding out (each time tentatively to ‘try’ if the cramping has stopped) and I get awful cramps, like terrible period cramps. And I’m not gonna have sex every week without an orgasm! So we’re down to maybe once every 2 weeks and giving DP a helping hand which is only when I can be bothered.

@Booklover88 yes absolutely. Yesterday (I think it was made worse by tiredness) I could not stand for more than a minute without having to sit back down for half an hour. It’s crazy! I’ve sat down loads at work today as well which we’re not supposed to do whilst teaching but I just don’t feel right stood up. Hope it gets better for you, when/if you’ve told your school you’re pregnant, do you think they could accommodate for you? Like change your timetable a bit to remain in the same room, or allow you to sit down more?

All this sex and bleeding talk is freaking me out and my poor husband isn't getting none for a while 😂 we haven't had sex since we conceived and id love to but i am petrified of a bleed! I also did read somewhere that an orgasm can cause MC due to contractions of the uterus so thats terrified me even more! Who knows what to believe, think I will leave it a little while just to be safe!

Booklover88 · 12/06/2023 16:16

@sashastuck thanks for your reply! Yes, forgot to mention-no-one at work knows yet. My department are very gossipy and I know it would get out and I’m not ready for everyone to know (we didn’t have an easy time TTC and needed fertility treatment so want to be sure before we share the news). I’m hoping I can go back tomorrow as I hate being off but will have to be a lot of sitting down teaching for me too!

Mummyme87 · 12/06/2023 16:45

@LondonNQT I work with Olivia on labour ward. Known her since she was a student midwife 🥰 also 100% recommend her insta page.

having a lie down on my bed infront of a fan. Proper melting!!

Dannic2018 · 12/06/2023 17:41

@sashastuck @RG9895 I had a miscarriage before my 2 year old and it was the day after sex and obviously an orgasm so since then I just wouldn’t dare. Plus as I say because I’m still breastfeeding and producing the happy hormone in can be double the happiness as they say 🤣🤣 I do want to but I just think a few more weeks won’t hurt and I’ve offered to ‘help him’ 🤣 but he’s lovely and said that’s not fair. I remember in the 2nd and 3rd trimester with our 2 year old I was ridiculously horny and let’s face it all that extra blood down there makes it 🥳🤣 but by the end I was having pink spotting with my cervix so we stopped closer to due date. The older I’m getting the more I worry and after having a twin miscarriage just at Xmas I want to try and do everything I possibly can to not make anything worse at the moment x

FirstT1meMum · 12/06/2023 18:03

This heat is kicking my backside! 🥵 I'm exhausted and irritable! I'm also getting so fed up of trying to decide what to eat and poor dh is getting the brunt of it! I physically don't want to eat anything and everything he suggests couldn't sound more disgusting if he tried 🤣 I think he's fed up of hearing 'just cook whatever you want and I'll try to eat it'. Anyone else still feeling that way?

Mummyme87 · 12/06/2023 18:05

I get hungry but what I want is just all over the shop. I’m making salad this eve as it’s too hot.

suz2285 · 12/06/2023 18:27

@FirstT1meMum 100%, nothing sounds good at dinner time, I do not want hot food, I've just had some chicken and salad bits... but yeah there's not much enjoying going on with food right now, and DH I made something totally different 😂

@Mummyme87 I usually have something I fancy around lunch time but after that it's just eating cos if I don't I feel worse! 🙈

Ttcdcno1 · 12/06/2023 18:43

Yeah we are in the no sex camp! I’m terrified of a bleed and DH hasn’t got his head around it yet 😂plus I’m melting in this heat so he can stay well away!

went for my booking appt today. Midwives are lovely, I met 2, and she said I should get my scan letter within a week. They have to send off for it apparently just incase that’s the same for anyone else where you live.

drink beforehand - I was dehydrated and it took a while to find a vein good enough to take the blood from.

Eirlys1986 · 12/06/2023 19:09

We are home from holidays now after the travel day from hell with toddler. Felt on the edge of tears for a lot of the journey as he was struggling with it all so much bless him. Made the mistake of doing a test when I got home as haven’t peed on a stick in a while and wanted reassurance, it’s positive but significantly fainter than very strong lines I was getting before going away on holiday. I know a lot of things can affect tests and I was stupid to take it but this coupled with no nausea is now making me expect the worst for scan tomorrow morning. Haven’t told other half about the test yet as he’s busy bathing the gremlin before we put him to bed, I don’t know whether to come clean and share concerns or just leave it till tomorrow and we will see what comes. I am a silly billy and have gotten myself into an upset pickle after a very stressful day.

Lululumpkin · 12/06/2023 19:34

@Eirlys1986 I'm sorry hun that's tough. If I was you, I would share it with your husband. There's no use putting it all on your own shoulders, you deserve some support too. That being said - I'm sure it's all fine! At least tomorrow you will have some clarity.

@sashastuck omg the orgasm cramps are REAL. I actually got them before I was pregnant if I was due on my period - I clearly have a sensitive uterus! - but omg they are savage. Last intensely for 5-7 minutes and then dull-y for another half an hour.

I've been completely on my own for most of my first trimester as I live overseas and my fiancé is currently based in London until the end of this month. Counting down the days until he is home and I don't have to do everything on my own. I've found it so hard. Big respect to all the single mamas out there.

Luhou · 12/06/2023 19:58

Sounds like you have had a touugh day @Eirlys1986. Hope scan brings you some good news tomorrow. Echoing others comments about sharing with your DH.

Anybody else really struggling with piles? 🙈

suz2285 · 12/06/2023 20:07

@Eirlys1986 how far along are you? I've heard of the hcg being too strong for tests after a point and if you dilute the urine it shows up stronger, but that's why they say to stop testing after a positive cos the strength isn't really meant to tell you anything. I hope all is ok..

I've got some cramps tonight, but haven't had any in a while so it doesn't feel good, not sure if it's also a bit of trapped gas, no doubt 😂

@Luhou not yet but I imagine at some point since I am prone to that sort of thing 🙈 it's a glamorous time!

Eirlys1986 · 12/06/2023 20:25

I’m 8 weeks today @suz2285 so should be testing strongly still I think. It’s likely not anything and I don’t think you can glean a lot from line strength, I know I really shouldn’t have tested again and should’ve just left things until my scan tomorrow. Unfortunately I just wanted to seek some reassurance and have given myself the entirely opposite situation which was a very predictable situation!
@Luhou piles are annoying, I’ve still got some from last pregnancy anyway. Joy. The toddler is still resisting sleep so I’ve come out to the lounge to quietly dissolve into a puddle of tears whilst other half tries to get him to sleep 😆

flowerpot258 · 12/06/2023 20:27

I'm 8 weeks. Got a private scan yesterday for some reassurance! I'm due 21st of jan going by this scan. Might change slightly when I get my nhs 12 weeks scan

Due January 2024 🎉 PART 2
Luhou · 12/06/2023 20:30

Bless you @Eirlys1986 I feel for you. My DD is 2.5 and it is so tough looking after them. Think my piles are the ones lingering post birth last time too. Oh the joy.

Look after yourself.

suz2285 · 12/06/2023 20:36

@Eirlys1986 everything crossed for tomorrow 🤞

@flowerpot258 awww little baby ❤️ so sweet

Luhou · 12/06/2023 20:37

@suz2285 they're grim, something to look forward too 🙈

Lilothblos · 12/06/2023 20:44

@flowerpot258 congrats! That’s such a lovely clear picture! Mine from 7+5 was just a fuzzy blur 😂
