Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@SillyOldBear3 aww such a lovely feeling isn’t it. I’ve been feeling them for a while but it’s because it’s my second.

ahh I was too impatient to wait so booked early at 16 weeks 😂😂 I’m having another girl 💕

What date is your scan?

PeopleAreToads · 22/05/2023 14:06

Placemarking, baby girl due 18th October

Agree with others about gendered clothing, haven't bought anything yet as everything for girls seems very flowery/frilly. Hoping it's because it's summer stuff in the shops!

Has anyone chosen nursery furniture yet? Wondering what thoughts are on where has decent quality stuff as all seems very pricey!

SillyOldBear3 · 22/05/2023 14:10

@AlongcameLainey it's lovely! I've felt the odd bubbling / fluttering sensation for a few weeks but today baby seems to be doing somersaults and I can even see my belly move!

Aw congrats on your little girl! 💕 My 20 week scan is on the 30th so I don't have long to wait! 😊

AlongcameLainey · 22/05/2023 14:13

@SillyOldBear3 ahh amazing!

Not long at all. Let us know 💖💙

DancingNancies · 22/05/2023 14:17

@BeaKind my second was another boy due the same month as my first - other than a couple of extra outfits and a comforter that was "his", we didn't get anything else. Same this time round, I'll have to get a few smaller sized jumpers to account for the season differences and a third car seat, but we kept everything so there's thankfully there's very little to buy!

Smiffette · 22/05/2023 15:34

@AlongcameLainey it's my second too, haven't felt anything yet though. I have an anterior placenta again like with DD and I remember it was nearer 20-22 weeks when I felt obvious regularly movements

I can't wait for that feeling though!

MeganC104 · 22/05/2023 16:07

Had my midwife appointment and baby was super active. Complete opposite of my son who was always asleep. Our midwife thinks it's a girl 😁 we're keeping it a surprise

peonygirl · 22/05/2023 16:35

I just had my gender reveal scan and @katherine123x can you imagine - I am having a boy! 💙Those same symptoms we were sharing we not for nothing :)

The baby was super active, jumping around, waving with their hands. I could see his face quite clearly and the lady needed to point his boy attributes, despite being very obvious (I just didn't realize what I was looking at :P). It all makes it real now so I am very excited.

cruciverbalista · 22/05/2023 16:52

Congrats @peonygirl welcome to the boy mom club!

LaVitesse2022 · 22/05/2023 17:52

Just got my rhesus screening results back, baby is positive which means I'll have to have the anti-D injection. Does anyone know if you have to book it or whether midwife arranges for it at next appointment based on the results?

katherine123x · 22/05/2023 18:06

@peonygirl ahhhhhh you knew it!!! Congratulations and yes, welcome to the boy mum club 💙
I did wonder too, we had such similarities the whole time??

JoanneV · 22/05/2023 18:19

Haven't checked these threads in a while. 18 weeks tomorrow due 24th.

Had a gp appointment today and heard babys heartbeat. Have my 20week scan in 3 weeks and will find out the gender then. My reason is I'd like to be prepared and find out on our terms (its been spoiled for some couples we know), and if someone else knows (the sonographer) I want to know too. 😂

Ss32 · 22/05/2023 18:32

Oh my gosh, is anyone struggling with their feet on these warmer days? My feet are so hot and achey and feel like they could explode 😩

ForeverAndEvers · 22/05/2023 18:46

@BeaKind we definitely need a new pram as we had a yoyo from birth and it's been fab but it's feeling tired after 3 years and lots of travels and no longer folds properly! Not sure if we'll need much else new, hoping we don't really.

@Smiffette we also have an almost 3 year old, except he hasn't really worked out the concept that he'll be a big brother yet 😂

Alexandra07 · 22/05/2023 19:02

@PeopleAreToads I think I'll buy a big wardrobe and drawers from IKEA, not from the nursery range. Furniture will get abused by young children, I don't want to spend a lot.
I had a John Lewis cot with my first and it was good. It was given to us and I no longer have it, but I will go to John Lewis and look at their current range. The one I want is 140x70 with 3 mattress positions that converts into a toddler bed, it will last at least 5 years, probably more. I want also a cot with the top of the side bars covered in plastic for all the biting she will do! Something I didn't know about with my first!

This is my second baby but I still need to buy a lot of big items that I gave away/sold/got damaged, crib, cot, carseat, furniture... Still better than buying everything!

I had my midwife appointment today, I could hear the heartbeat, it was so nice! I am 17 weeks and I can't believe I'll see the midwife in 11 weeks now!

peonygirl · 22/05/2023 19:30

@cruciverbalista and @katherine123x thank you, I am excited but also terrified, I know nothing about boys lol - video games, cars, trucks...I will have to get some support from my male friends. Oh and Spiderman and Superman! So much learning ahead.

LWestYorks · 22/05/2023 19:32

What’s all your measurements for your little ones? I’m freaking out as have to have a growth scan in 3 weeks due to his abdominal circumference on the 97th centile. Mine are;

FL - 30.6mm
HC - 166.6mm
AC - 158.5mm

cruciverbalista · 22/05/2023 19:47

@LWestYorks No clue what it means but mine are:
HC 162.0
AC 144.6
Femur 30.2

@peonygirl it's interesting isn't it how we leap to certain hobbies by gender? I think all these kids (and their generation) will only surprise us!

AlongcameLainey · 22/05/2023 19:54

@ForeverAndEvers also have an almost 3 year old. She’ll be 3 in July. She talks to the bump but also thinks she has a baby in her belly to bless her

ForeverAndEvers · 22/05/2023 20:15

@AlongcameLainey thats so sweet! My son doesn't really get it or just isn't that interested, going to buy some new sibling books to try and explain. How are you feeling about the age gap?

AlongcameLainey · 22/05/2023 20:19

@ForeverAndEvers ahh the books are a great idea!

im feeling good about it. My sister had 2 within 18 months of each other and it worked for her but was exhausting.

I am the youngest of 6 but there was a 5 year age gap between me and the next youngest and we were so close so I’m hoping the it’ll be the same for my two.

How about you?

OrionNebula · 22/05/2023 20:55

My DD will be 4 in July. I know lots of people wouldn't want an age gap that big but it doesn't bother me at all. I simply wasn't ready for another before now anyway.

@peonygirl @cruciverbalista my DD is totally obsessed with vehicles - mainly trains but also cars, buses and planes. Sometimes plays with dolls but not much. And both my niece and DH's niece love video games. I think they will find out for themselves what they enjoy, often that will be 'typical' boy/girl things (nothing wrong with that either of course!) but it very often isn't these days.

katherine123x · 23/05/2023 05:25

Anyone else struggling with sleep? Not insomnia just soooo uncomfortable all night!

DancingNancies · 23/05/2023 06:55

@ForeverAndEvers @AlongcameLainey I have a 3 year age gap (3yrs 1 day exactly!) Between my boys, and I loved it so much we went for the same again! Oldest was able to be helpful and fetch me things, but small enough they play together and my youngest adores his brother - they're really lovely together when they're not wrestling 😂

lighthousechristmas · 23/05/2023 08:39

@LWestYorks

FL - 32.9mm (68%)
HC - 173.4mm (37%)
AC - 152.3mm (57%)

She didnt say anything was unusual for mine, although have a growth scan at 28 weeks due to my BMI.
