Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@peonygirl ahh thank you, that’s helpful!

My whooping cough vaccine is 5 minutes before my 28 week appointment! I hope they’re not running late!

Is anyone feel huge? Like not pregnant huge but .. fat huge. Like ten ton Tess huge. I feel so uncomfortable and round and not just my belly.. my hips, arms, thunder thighs. And my belly is getting bigger but it's not like a bump just big.

I know I should feel lucky ... just feeling a bit crap and wondered if it was just me

BeaKind · 24/05/2023 21:34

@ttcttc 🙋‍♀️ me! My tummy is not rounded at all I just look huge and bloated. It pretty much is all fat too because when I sit down it all folds in half 😭😅 Just keep trying to remind myself that it won’t be like this forever 🙏 but I do feel so horrible at the moment.

Sometimes my belly is flabby and sometimes it's hard. It's strange isn't it. Glad I'm not alone.

@ttcttc I feel a bit like that, I know its natural for our bodies to start storing fat but it doesn’t feel great.

I think once you have a really defined bump you don’t notice the extra body fat so much. I’ve been told not to gain much weight to avoid pressure on my previously broken pelvis - not sure how to do that though! Trying to swim and not eat loads but I need the sweet snacks to get me through the afternoons

peonygirl · 25/05/2023 08:53

@18baldingstar I also have sweet tooth but I am trying to grab some dried fruits (figs in particular) or nuts instead of a chocolate. I don't always succeed but I do on some occasions. Also melon (of any sorts) is my craving of the month - it's sweet and juicy, seems my body really likes this combo. I still cannot ditch a cup of green tea with biscuits in the morning though I do try to follow up with yoghurt and granola so the number of biscuits is gradually coming down :)

Is anyone still coughing? I wake up in the middle of the night, nose blocked and volatile coughing. I worry something is wrong but don't know if it is dry air or sinuses or virus? It seems to calm down the minute I have a hot drink and use a raised pillow.

Easier said than done isn't it! You could eat really well and exercise and still gain weight!

Just wondering if anybody has been through it and knows. I am Rhesus Negative and so had the blood test to see if baby is negative or positive to see if I would need the Anti-D injection. The midwife said results take about 2 weeks to come back. Does anybody know if these results come in the post? Or whether I am told at my next midwife appointment? Just not sure what to expect! Thank you x

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 25/05/2023 11:04

@Summer022 I was told that results would come in the post in 2 weeks but saying that I have looked on my online notes yesterday and it has been published on there that I will need the anti-d injection and that my appointment will arrive with the letter

Summer022 · 25/05/2023 11:16

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway ah that makes sense! Thank you, hopefully will receive the letter soon then! xx

LaVitesse2022 · 25/05/2023 14:48

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway ah, thanks for the clarification! I've also recently checked my results online and I'll need the injection so was about to call midwife to learn what I need to do. It looks like they'll get in touch with injection appointment through post. I might just ring them just in case.

LaVitesse2022 · 25/05/2023 14:53

Just phoned them and they said midwife will repeat the bloods at 28 week appointment and then book the injection a week later. So no need to book or sort anything in advance :)

Needtobuildabridge · 25/05/2023 14:59

Is anyone else's partner/husband struggling with their changing body?

My DH is so loving and supportive, I've had so many foot rubs recently! But, he's struggling with the bump. Yesterday he came up behind me to hug me, and just awkwardly put his hands in my hips instead!

I get that it must be so strange for the men, it's strange for me too. But it's hard when the touching has reduced a lot.

OrionNebula · 25/05/2023 20:40

20 +4 and feel like my bump got a lot bigger all of a sudden in the last couple of days!

Saturnsmoon · 26/05/2023 08:23

@Needtobuildabridge yes similar here. He’s very sweet and complimentary about how I look (always is but has definitely continued it) however he finds the bump quite strange and struggles to touch it, unless I’m clothed. We have also haven’t had sex for the past three weeks whereas we were before. We actually spoke about it this morning as I think he is conscious about it and I am definitely missing the intimacy so we’ve said we’re just going to try and reinitiate this weekend and hopefully once we’ve restarted intimacy he won’t feel as weird about it. Here’s to hoping because I’m not up for celibacy for the next 4+ months 😂

Dbop100 · 26/05/2023 09:28

My husband has the opposite problem, he's bump obsessed, he's constantly touching it and talking to it which is very sweet but also I'm like 'Hello! I'm here too!' 😂

Needtobuildabridge · 26/05/2023 11:26

@Saturnsmoon thank you, my husband is the same with sex. It’s really tapered off recently- I’m also not up for celibacy either!
Lets hope they come around 😞

SillyOldBear3 · 26/05/2023 11:30

@Needtobuildabridge mine doesn't really say much about it or touch it, he just seems quite unbothered by it! He does try to feel the kicks if I say baby is moving though.

SillyOldBear3 · 26/05/2023 11:32

@Saturnsmoon @Needtobuildabridge sex has tailed off for us to, but probably more from my side. Anyone else find it a bit uncomfortable with the bump getting in the way? It's not even that big yet! 🙈

MeganC104 · 26/05/2023 11:35

@Needtobuildabridge my husband is the same 😩 last pregnancy sex stopped at 20 weeks and didn't come back till almost a year pp (after having my son I had mental health issues which really affected this too).

I hope this pregnancy isn't a repeat because I'm still up for it 🤣

Mamabear345 · 26/05/2023 13:46

Onethingiwantfor23 · 24/05/2023 11:11

Would anyone know if I'll need a fit to fly letter at 20 weeks? I'm flying to Spain with Ryanair in 2 weeks time and my midwife said I'll need one but having looked on Ryanair website it says it's needed later in pregnancy. I've got a tiny bump atm so they wouldn't even know. Just wondered if anyone has flown recently? Thanks

@Onethingiwantfor23 i flew to Dublin today with Ryan air. Almost 22 weeks no one said a thing! X I have a linen shirt on so maybe no one could even tell 🤷🏻‍♀️

LaVitesse2022 · 26/05/2023 14:28

@Needtobuildabridge I think my partner is accustoming too to the changing body. Bizarrely, I think he's more amused by the changes in the boobs 😆But I've definitely noticed one or two comments about the rounder belly. It is weird, for me too, it's ever more a visual reminder that there's something else in there 😅

LaVitesse2022 · 26/05/2023 14:36

Had my 20-week scan this morning and all was good and normal 😊We also found out the sex but keeping it a secret until July. I found it very funny when the sonographer told us baby was facing my back - for some reason I always picture baby facing out, as in the profile scan pics 😆

ES1986 · 26/05/2023 16:22

I can’t wait to feel movements. I’m only 17 weeks so I know it’ll be a while yet. Even though I’ve had a scan and the midwife used the Doppler to hear the baby’s heartbeat last week, I still worry whether everything’s ok in there!

Summer022 · 26/05/2023 16:42

@ES1986 Me too! 18+1 and still no movements, but hopefully something soon! I have no idea what to expect with movement, whether I will actually recognise it or assume it’s just gas 😆
