@Hopefulx i’m abroad so the advice seems slightly different but I’ve been told to continue them throughout pregnancy. To be honest I’ve been lucky in that the don’t seem to have an adverse effect on me so happy to keep taking them for now.

Saturnsmoon · 20/04/2023 09:20

I’m planning on going on leave 2 weeks before due date. Might try and use some annual leave so I can start mat leave a bit closer to due date.

just had my 16 week appointment and got to hear baby’s heartbeat 💗 am booked in to have my anatomy scan on the 22nd of May so just 1 month to go.

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 20/04/2023 09:28

I'm also using annual leave before maternity leave starts, I'll be going off around 37 weeks and using 3 weeks annual leave then my maternity leave is due to start 2 days before my due date

NSx · 20/04/2023 10:22

From what I read online is that you should take the vitamins throughout your pregnancy 🤍

Glitterb · 20/04/2023 10:23

Marking my place!

I am currently 12w5days with baby due 28th October! Had my 12 week scan on Tuesday and baby was being awkward 😆 they ended up doing handstands and then went to sleep. Luckily got some measurements so all good. Anyone else had an awkward baby at their scan?

Smiffette · 20/04/2023 11:45

@Hopefulx I'm taking mine all through pregnancy and did last time. Then assuming breastfeeding goes well again, I'll switch to the a different vitamin

AlongcameLainey · 20/04/2023 11:53

@Smiffette im working it the same as you. Annual leave from 1 October and baby due 17th.

Last pregnancy we went in to lockdown when I was 5 months pregnant so never had to work right up to 8-9 months

Smiffette · 20/04/2023 12:04

@AlongcameLainey yeah same I WFH for the last 6 weeks then had 3 weeks A/L. I thought I'd just take 2 weeks this time as she was late and I still get to WFH now more so I don't think it will be as challenging! Famous last words 😂

Smiffette · 20/04/2023 12:05

@AlongcameLainey also due 17th!

AlongcameLainey · 20/04/2023 12:06

Haha definitely famous last words. I’m showing so early this time!

my little one was 9ib11oz and I went in to labour on her due date so I’m rather nervous about this one being a giant and making the pregnancy unbearable in the last couple of months 😂😂

AlongcameLainey · 20/04/2023 12:10

Ahh same due date 💙

Jealousofchiliheeler · 20/04/2023 12:20

All good on scan today! Little one stubbornly kept in the wrong position for most of it though, gave some good wriggles though but reluctant to move . Sonographer had me jumping around the room, twisting from side to side and walking up the corridor until finally got them into position to measure thickness at back of the neck. So different from DC#1 who bounced all over for the scans, kicked black and blue and has been non stop ever since, hoping this means a more chilled baba this time around!

katherine123x · 20/04/2023 13:16

Feeling like a real bump today. I'm a size 18 so bigger anyway but now feel really tight and more than bloat!! 14+2 first baby ... just feel like I look really really fat 😂

peonygirl · 20/04/2023 13:41

@katherine123x oh lovely, you are creating a new life, don't be too hard on yourself. We all look rubbish and most of the time we feel like that too :D I wish we could all be poster babes but as long as we are healthy and the bubbas are healthy, let's enjoy our incredible bodies that are doing some magic. I know it is hard to feel fine, I was sick like a dog for over a month and only now coming out of the shadows, but I am trying to look at the positives and accept I'll never be size 10 again :) I am currently size 12/14 but have been vomiting so much that I actually lost weight. Not showing anything yet so still waiting for the bloated feeling but I feel all the time like a cow chewed me and spit me out. I don't look much better either, thank god I can work from home.

monsteramunch · 20/04/2023 13:47

14+3 today, due 15th October... any due date twins on here?!

So relieved I finally don't want to be sick all the time any more. I cannot imagine how horrific it is for women who spend the whole pregnancy nauseous, it's so debilitating even when it's 'just' for a couple of months.

Smiffette · 20/04/2023 16:17

@AlongcameLainey my DD was 7lb 14 I'm hoping for no bigger but my mum said they get bigger 🙈 not what I want to hear! I'm sure that's not always the case anyway!

Labour was ok, other than her being back to back, but at the time I had nothing to compare too!

AlongcameLainey · 20/04/2023 16:54

@Smiffette ahh good weight!

My labour was brutal last time. I don’t want to scare any first timers so won’t list the details but it made me seriously question having any more children 😓😅

MeganC104 · 20/04/2023 18:02

@Hopefulx I will continue my prenatals. I hope to work as long as possible but I remember being knackered last time.

DancingNancies · 20/04/2023 18:08

Have had a bit more bleeding this morning after Tuesday's episode, but I've been feeling far more nauseous than before - brushing my teeth made me sick, and coughing made me gag earlier - this baby is already keeping me on my toes! 🤦‍♀️

@Smiffette my first was 7lb (albeit 2 weeks early) and my second was 9lb at 40+5, so I'm very much hoping this one isn't too late! 😂

I wish I had annual leave (teacher), as I'm going to work as close to my EDD of the 16th as I can - hopefully I'll make it there as it means I won't have to go back until a week before the summer holidays so won't have a proper timetable until September again!

Smiffette · 20/04/2023 18:12

@DancingNancies yikes that is a jump in size!

Mine was 40+5 too I'm hoping my body will lick to a fusion quicker with this one and not go that far over!

LaVitesse2022 · 20/04/2023 18:22

@Hopefulx the NHS advice is to take folic acid until 12 weeks and vitamin D between September and March. I'm going to finish mine and not continue after that. If you have a reasonably varied diet there's no evidence vitamin supplements add anything.

I'm planning to take a couple of weeks annual leave and start mat leave on 13th Oct, my due date.

Congrats to everyone having their scans! x Finding it hard to keep up with the thread, apologies for not commenting on other messages

I got back my nipt results!! All low risk and we are having another girl! Both my husband and my daughter will be so excited! My husband wants another girl and my daughter she is on the phase "I don't like boys"! I wouldn't mind either way.
We will have a gender reveal party just the three of us on Saturday. Any ideas how to make it special for them and fun?

PrimarilyParented · 20/04/2023 18:53

@DancingNancies and all the other teachers, please don’t forget that you can look into shared parental leave and use it so that you get paid for the summer and other holidays but don’t go back until the full year is up.

my plan is to go on Mat leave but end it before the Easter hols and switch to shared parental leave. Get paid for Easter then take leave until the half term as block 1. Get paid for half term and then take block 2 until the summer. Get paid over the summer and take block 3 until the end of my mat leave. This plus booking in keep in touch days in advance (so I get paid my daily rate for these) massively increases my yearly pay during maternity leave.

@LaVitesse2022 thanks for highlighting that it’s not essential. I was feeling a bit guilty as I had stopped this week. My constipation has gone and I think it was the vitamins causing it. The constipation often made me feel very sick so although I still have some morning sickness it has been nowhere near as bad this week.

THISISIT23 · 20/04/2023 19:06

Had scan today 4 attempts to get baby too turn around from facing down 😂😂 poor scan woman was about to give up then baby turned and gave us a wave before quickly wriggling around xxx
