@Zaalfruit I hope you have a smooth delivery 🥰 I’m doing well actually, just suffering from the usual PGP. My previous two pregnancies were twins and this is just one baby so it’s been much easier for me this time round!

Are you planning to let labour start on its own or are you getting induced?

tigerlily0 · 23/05/2023 13:24

I'm due 31st May so still just hanging around waiting. My hip is giving me gyp now, had my sister around yday and spent most of it in the garden, been nesting today and deep cleaned my washing machine, hoovered and mopped. All I seem to do is cleaning and I just wanna smell clean smells everywhere!

My other sister is coming tmrw to visit, every so often I get pressure down below. But belly is still high- I don't remember belly dropping with either of my other 2 babies.

Is anyone else's hands swollen? Mine aren't hugely swollen but defo obvious and also my calves a little, checked my bp and it's low, also not peeing a lot, compared to how much I'm drinking, I think I should contact triage, I'm in 2 minds. Baby movement is fine

Zaalfruit · 23/05/2023 14:53

@tigerlily0 with the swelling I would just ring triage or even my midwife to ask what they think.

@HasHus86 I am going to wait till I go on labour on my own I think my trust allows 40 plus 11 days . I feel like labour will
be soon - immense hip pains have begun . However I really don’t want to go into labour yet. I am not ready - I want the house to be super clean. My boots order isn’t here yet that contains the first milk lol I know I could just go shops - but I just can’t be bothered.
Also going from carrying double to single must be such a different experience - hope you enjoyed this one .

I really feel for those that have had spd / pgp or any hip and back pain in pregnancy. I have only had pain for the last week and it’s driving me insane so I don’t know how you are all coping . Hats off to you all .

Ally1992 · 23/05/2023 20:23

We were finally allowed home at 8pm last night and when the midwife came out this morning he was just under the line on the jaundice test so sent us back to the hospital for a blood test, it all seems fine and dropping but we have to go back tomorrow for another one and have been told to try and get him in front of the window in his Moses basket or sit outside with him for little stints.

I’m now back home enjoying some newborn cuddles on the sofa finally 🥰

toomanysausages · 23/05/2023 21:29

@NalaNana oh gosh, that sounds worse than I'm imagining - the back spasms. Thanks for sharing with me. I'm only just 35 weeks today but constantly symptom checking
@MrsP4 good luck for tomorrow!
@Ally1992 glad you're allowed home finally, how many days were you in for in total? I bet the newborn bubble is wonderful..I can't wait to meet my little girl!

BobbySD345 · 24/05/2023 07:16

@Ally1992 glad you are home! Our Son had jaundice and we had checks for around 10 days but it went eventually. I remember putting him under the lounge window a lot too ! Enjoy all the newborn cuddles 🤩

Leaf86 · 24/05/2023 08:18

We had a private scan yesterday (with an NHS consultant so not an unqualified one) and baby is measuring huge (almost 9lb at 38+3) with his head off the charts. Am trying to bring my section forward to next week as it’s currently booked for after my due date, but am struggling to get NHS to engage as they haven’t wanted to do any growth scans as my bump has been on track. With his head so big, I feel totally unconfident birthing vaginally now and also super worried there is something wrong (with his brain) or that he’s going to be an absolute giant when he comes out. I’m also concerned I have had/have GD and it was missed. Feeling quite stressed and worried this morning - I know it could be a lot worse but I’m at super high risk of PPH so a traumatic birth of a big baby would be a disaster. ☹️☹️

Funfamilytimes · 24/05/2023 08:37

@Leaf86 the scans really aren’t accurate. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a baby being born at the guessed birth weight. But definitely phone up and ask for a consultation even just to speak to someone and raise your concerns. Good luck! 🥰

PurBal · 24/05/2023 09:51

@Leaf86 sorry to hear you’re feeling anxious and stressed. I hope the consultants engage soon. Have you tried going via your midwife explaining how you feel? I would echo what @Funfamilytimes said in terms of growth scans. In terms of delivery, definitely do what’s right for you, but I just wanted to share my experience with DC1. He was 8lb13 and had a 99 centile head. I gave birth vaginally with only a 15 minute pushing stage. I also had PPH but even so have very positive memories about the birth. I obviously don’t know your individual circumstances but hopefully a positive story alleviates some worry. Big hugs.

Leaf86 · 24/05/2023 10:13

Thank you @Funfamilytimes and @PurBal 🙏🏻 that’s very reassuring. I have spoken to midwives and they are raising with my consultant. Hoping I get an update later today, fingers crossed.

@PurBal did you need to have a blood transfusion with your PPH or stay in hospital a long time? I’m sorry you had to go through that but it’s great that you still have positive feelings about the birth, it just shows that it’s maybe less about what happens and more about how we feel in ourselves about the experience. I assume your DC1 was all fine ?

PurBal · 24/05/2023 10:50

@Leaf86 I lost about 850ml so no transfusion but went on iron tablets. Took a hour to stabilise me. Stayed in 2 nights. I’m not sure if that was solely the PPH or other things: I retained urine (pre existing bladder issue) and didn’t have a “successful” feed for ages. I think you’re right about how we feel in ourselves. I felt really cared for which helped a lot. Regarding DS, no problems at all. He’s 22 months and loving life. He’s my joy. I’ve been emotional this pregnancy and recently he has been coming up to me when I’m teary asking “Mummy? You sad?” Then he gives me a cuddle. He’s at a lovely age. (And now I’ve turned into a gushing parent).

BobbySD345 · 24/05/2023 11:57

@Leaf86 just reading your post and I'm literally going through the same thing. I'm 35 +5 and just had a growth scan in the last 30 mins and she's over 7lb already. Basically I've had 2 negative GTT but I had GD in my first pregnancy and I have had thirst and the shakes for weeks so have been pushing for another test. Now today they say fluid is up and she's huge so I've got to wait and see the diabetes nurse and the doctor. So now it's all rush rush. Why don't they listen to our concerns early on!?

AngelBlue12 · 24/05/2023 13:43

She’s back to being breech 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also have to go for a GTT tomorrow as at the growth scan yesterday she was weighing 6lb14ozs (36w2d). Not sure if there’s much point really as all our babies have been bigger, both families too. Smallest baby was our first 7lb13ozs biggest was 11lb, no GD.

I think part of the problem is that we are in a new place whereas previously all of them were born under the same hospital, but now we are in ROI not all our notes made it over.

I’m more concerned with her flipping backwards and forwards as they are really strict about driving after CS here and it would be so inconvenient not to be able to drive for 6 weeks 😬 but obviously I want us both to be safe.

Good job we love these babies so much!

Leaf86 · 24/05/2023 14:46

@PurBal your son sounds gorgeous!

@BobbySD345 so frustrating isn’t it?! I hope they are taking you seriously now. I have just spoken to the hospital, they are moving my section to 39+4 which I am happy with. Now to try and relax for the next week !! 🙈

BobbySD345 · 24/05/2023 16:48

@AngelBlue12 @Leaf86 They told me they don't do GTT post 35 weeks as the results are unreliable so they just go off the growth scan and if there's too much fluid or baby has a big tummy they make you use the monitor for a week and see what your readings are. So now I have one of the AgaMatrix machines to use again and I hated it in my 1st pregnancy ! They're more techy now as there's an app and it sends my readings go the diabetic midwfie/nurse. Feel like I'm going to have to just eat dust !!!

AngelBlue12 · 24/05/2023 17:31

Strange how things differ!

Zaalfruit · 24/05/2023 19:31

@Leaf86 I hope you get through to a consultant.

( Question has anyone been swiping and getting brown discharge - I called Triage and they said it could be part of losing mucus plug . This didn’t happened last time so not sure what to think . Triage said as due date is 1st June - labour might be soon. I don’t feel any labour pains yet . ) I also feel like I might have over done it today - moving the mattress hoovering under the bed .

DrinkingAllTheGin · 24/05/2023 22:04

I am channelling my inner cat. Lots of naps, a bath and plenty to eat. With very small flurries of activity, mostly at night!

Hlc86 · 25/05/2023 14:05

How's everyone getting on?! Any more babies made an appearance yet?

@firsttimelondonmummy how are you feeling? Did you get things sorted re growth?

firsttimelondonmummy · 25/05/2023 14:19

Hey @Hlc86 thanks for checking in ❤️🙏🏻
Due to the bank holiday I can’t be seen till Wednesday.
Last time we checked he was in the 6th centile and they said if he drops below the 4th I will need inducing at 37 weeks (next Thursday).
Had a midwife Monday and only measuring 32cm (was 31cm 2 weeks before) so I’m not holding out much hope 😞

Belami · 25/05/2023 14:37

@firsttimelondonmummy ❤️❤️❤️ sorry to hear that, how stressful for you :( At least if you do have to be induced on Thursday you'll have your baby boy in your arms really soon xx

Ally1992 · 25/05/2023 14:44

@toomanysausages sorry just realised I never replied, we were in for 4 days in the end, it was tough because they kept waking me up for observations every 4 hours and the lack of sleep was horrendous.

We went back for a jaundice test yesterday and they are happy with how it’s dropping and he’s also put on a good amount of weight. I really hate the heal prick tests they do and he has another one tomorrow at the day 5 midwife apt ☹️

BobbySD345 · 25/05/2023 14:47

@firsttimelondonmummy I saw you had posted and had to check right away as you have been so quiet. Hope you're feeling OK about it all. If it helps, I saw Midwife Monday and on the fundal measurement I had dropped quite a way. Had a growth scan yesterday and baby is quite the opposite. She is a real bruiser and they're estimating 7lbs already (I take this witj a pinch of salt as I had DS1 at 6lb9oz having been told the entire pregnancy he was going to be big). It's not an accurate science and you may find at your scan all is fine ! Try not to worry too much.

Both my parents have covid so I need little miss to stay put for a week or so as we have no childcare for my Son !

Only 36 weeks but as I've said before DS arrived at 37...

On day two of my GD monitoring and my readings are fine but I'm following the diet plan so I suppose that's why. Just wanting to try and avoid the insulin if possible. They will induce at 38 weeks anyway because of her supposed size.

Ally1992 · 25/05/2023 14:53

@firsttimelondonmummy I know how you feel and was worried about being induced at 37 weeks as well but the plus side is you will have him in your arms sooner and they are smaller to push out 😅

Hlc86 · 25/05/2023 15:18

@firsttimelondonmummy you're welcome, I was worried as you have been so quiet. Hopefully baby won't have dropped below the 4th centile, would they be happy if he stays on the 6th? I know their measurements arnt an exact science and sometimes they do seem to be so doom and gloom, telling you all the negatives etc but at least they are keeping a close eye on you (annoying you have to wait till Wednesday to be seen tho), hopefully he will have gained and not dropped any more so you won't have to be induced, what was his estimated weight at your last scan?
