Hi all hope you are all coping well. I was discharged yesterday with lots of meds to take. Had to have blood transfusion in hospital due to iron levels very low. They let me leave with iron tablets though now. In alot of pain from infection and from surgery after birth to remove placenta. I didn't intend to breast feed but neonatal are very insistent DD needs breast milk as she can't take anything else. She's currently on donor milk whilst I am expressing 10 times a day to try get colostrum out. It's really hard but I'm trying.

She's doing great. She's off oxygen and antibiotics now. She went on a light box last night for jaundice but this morning she was better so they took her off it. She's 3 days old now and doing great. They said prepare to take her home when she reaches about 38 week term so 9 weeks in hospital. That way any sooner will be a bonus xx I got cuddles for first time today xx she's a little ginger 😁

firsttimelondonmummy · 02/04/2023 19:13

@Hlc86 I took this just before I posted so after a full day of food! it’s even smaller in the mornings.
In my private scan they measured all his body parts and said he’s measuring bang on average so I’m thinking not to fret?

@DrinkingAllTheGin at my midwife they said he is sat quite forward as they could feel his limbs with gentle touch.
I’d be less worried if it kept changing shape but it just looks smaller each day.
I swear I was huge the other week….

@BellaTheDarkOverlord she looks like she is doing some deep thinking in that picture. Beautiful.
I hope both your recovery continues to go well.

Belami · 02/04/2023 19:53

@firsttimelondonmummy I think the scan is more accurate than bump measurements, I don't get how they can tell from measuring the bumps tbh as everyone's figures are different, surely? Your bump is lovely, try not to worry if everything is measuring fine. You might just be getting used to the size of it Xx

Hlc86 · 02/04/2023 19:54

@firsttimelondonmummy as long as all babies measurements are good I wouldn't worry, like I say some people just carry naturally smaller than others. Try not to fret baby is growing as he should be 😁

@BellaTheDarkOverlord oh she is so gorgeous and glad she is doing well and you have been discharged, you will be able to get better rest at home, and roll on the 9 weeks when you can bring her home 😍

Belami · 02/04/2023 19:55

@BellaTheDarkOverlord awwww she is just adorable. Hope you're okay & being looked after, that all sounds so painful. Sounds like she is doing really well bless her, not long until she's home with you ♥️ so glad you got cuddles, that must have been such an amazing feeling. Xxx

theblueflowers · 02/04/2023 20:29

@BellaTheDarkOverlord it looks like she's doing great!

Funfamilytimes · 02/04/2023 20:31

@BellaTheDarkOverlord loving these updates. Soo glad you got cuddles today! Can’t believe she’s 3 days old already! Keep going with the expressing. It’s hard work but once it gets going and you get into a routine it’ll be great. :)

ImHopeful2023 · 02/04/2023 22:52

@firsttimelondonmummy doctor keeps telling me they dont measure bumps anymore they go by scab measurements

ImHopeful2023 · 02/04/2023 22:55

Glad she is doing well @BellaTheDarkOverlord hope you start to feel on the mend soon hugs and congratulations again

Sausage1990 · 02/04/2023 23:44

Hi ladies - I hope I'm not to late in the game but I was wondering if I could join your June babies thread?

I'm 28weeks (tomorrow - well nearly today, as it's nearly Monday already) and my EDD is 26th June.

This is my 4th pregnancy but 1st baby and we're expecting a little boy 🩵 due to my history of reoccurring losses I found out through tests that I have antiphospholipid syndrome which is basically a sticky blood/blood clotting issue so am on aspirin and clexane (blood thinner) injections daily. I have a gestational diabetes glucose test tomorrow (fingers crossed it'll be fine) and a growth/blood flow scan on Thursday to check on baby.

I've got a really great group of online and IRL mum friends but only 1 who is currently pregnant so wanted to connect with some more mum's to be. It would be great to learn a little about you all, if you're happy to have me 🥰

Dewintergarden · 03/04/2023 05:34

@BellaTheDarkOverlord thank you for the update, glad you can rest at home now and baby is doing well!

C1umsyGiraffe · 03/04/2023 06:46

@BellaTheDarkOverlord she is absolutely gorgeous! Glad you're both doing well and hope you have a quick recovery!

dresslol · 03/04/2023 08:40

@BellaTheDarkOverlord thanks for the updates, she is gorgeous, do you have a name?
Hi @Sausage1990 nice to kind of meet you! wishing you all the best in this pregnancy, I can’t quite believe how far along we all are now, feels like it’s gone fast!

firsttimelondonmummy · 03/04/2023 10:36

Thanks all 🙏🏻
I’ll not be worrying for now then 😊❤️

@firsttimelondonmummy Can you please add me to the list? Due 07/06 :)

C1umsyGiraffe · 03/04/2023 13:26

Those of you doing a nursery before baby arrives, what cot are you going for? They're all so expensive! Tried looking for second hand but there are non descent near me so struggling!

PurBal · 03/04/2023 13:46

@BellaTheDarkOverlord shea beautiful! Expressing is so hard, you’re doing a great job.

PurBal · 03/04/2023 13:53

@C1umsyGiraffe we got ours secondhand but my brother got his from IKEA and was every happy with it.

Bump-date (that’s a bump update right?)
Measured 29cm at 28w
Offered a follow up at 30w. Measuring 30cm. So 1cm growth in 2 weeks.
Referred for growth scan just because not growing “along the line” but I wonder if the measurements were taken so close together and the whole thing is more art than science when they measure. 2 different midwives too.
The extra appointment was for (non pregnancy related) anxiety: oh the irony. Because of course now I’m worrying.

Fredthespider · 03/04/2023 14:12

@PurBal these bump measurements are really sent to test us! I was measuring 26cm at 24 weeks, so 2 weeks ahead. Then I was 29cm at 29 weeks so I got referred for a scan, but the clinic rejected the request because I wasn’t measuring ‘behind’. Then at 31 weeks the student measured me at 29cm, but the midwife decided I was actually 32cm 🤔

So who knows! Each time I’ve had someone different measuring me and I think it’s more linked to that tbh.

I do think having a scan around this point is a good idea though. Last baby I got referred for static growth at 38+5 and the only thing the could compare to was my 20 week scan and decided I was borderline fetal growth restriction. He was born 4 days after the scan at 8lb but those 4 days were so stressful and derailed my birth plans as the stand alone birth centre decided I was too risky to give birth there.

Mamma2bee · 03/04/2023 14:25

Can I join the club lol? Due 18th June!

rllrsk8 · 03/04/2023 14:32

Hello! Due 2nd June, but expecting to be induced earlier. We'll see!!

I keep whispering to bump "please don't come early" because our extension and renovation is way off finished and I'm trying to stay calm and not panic when the builder just doesn't turn up like today but we don't have a kitchen or much of a bathroom at the moment and arrrrrgghhhh. Not expecting sympathy here just need to vent a little - whenever I talk to family and friends about it they panic on my behalf which doesn't help!

Hope everyone is doing ok and feeling well. Have a growth scan this week because fundal measurement is about 3-4 weeks ahead so just hoping it's nothing to worry about. It's been consistent, at least. Hoping baby is just tall and not wide Shock

Belami · 03/04/2023 14:53

@PurBal @Fredthespider I thought bump measurements were meant to correlate in cm to the week you're on so like 29cm for 29weeks etc.
I really don't understand how that can be the same from woman to woman though 🤷‍♀️ I definitely think they should do a scan in third trimester as routine. Xx

PurBal · 03/04/2023 15:13

@Fredthespider I have a feeling the referral will be rejected. I have a scan in 2 weeks to check on the location of the placenta anyway (abutting the cervix at 20w). I’m measuring 30cm at 30w, hardly unusual. And yes different people doing it!! As you say, what can they reference?
@Belami yes, I think so. If you’re 2-3cm above or below (depends on trust I think) then I think you get referred but I’m literally measuring as I should, I’ve just not grown much in 2 weeks. According to a different midwife to last time…
@rllrsk8 oh i think you can ask for sympathy! We moved house with my first son when I was about 34 weeks pregnant and we were supposed to move 8 weeks earlier, couldn’t book into the new hospital until we moved either. Very stressful. When’s your scan this week? I hope it goes well!
