How are you doing @Ally1992 ?

Anyone else getting pain in their bits/lower pelvic area?

I've got spd/pgp so don't know if it's that but worse as I've had pelvic pain for months with it, but last few days I've started feeling so much more pressure in the same place & slept really really badly last night because of it.

BobbySD345 · 21/05/2023 09:02

@Belami exactly this. Can't decide if it's the PGP or baby getting lower. Debated paracetamol last night I couldn't sleep! I didn't have PGP with my 1st so I have nothing to compare it to. Seeing midwife tomorrow so will ask her babies position.

Belami · 21/05/2023 09:13

@BobbySD345 bless you, it's horrible isn't it. It's actually getting very painful to move in bed and get up from laying down which isn't ideal when you're up 6 times times in the night anyway from pgp hip pain and weeing😖was uncomfortable anyway but this is a new level!!

I've been told baby is engaged so wonder if it's that. I've had paracetamol last few nights but really doesn't do much.

Hope you have a better night tonight 💕

C1umsyGiraffe · 21/05/2023 10:20

@Belami must be something in the air as I had it really bad last night 😂 haven't really had it so far so was a bit of a shock but my pubic bone just really hurts? Was so painful when I got up for a wee!!

Hlc86 · 21/05/2023 16:42

Ah see I'm the opposite at the moment my aches is in my upper back, she's now moved to breech so all my pain seems to be higher up, but at least she has stayed in there for an extra week 😅

DrinkingAllTheGin · 21/05/2023 17:18

My bleeding seems to have stopped. Had some old blood yesterday but 9nly a bit and they had said there was a clot still to come away.
So I've put myself on light duties last 2 days. DH is doing the hard housework, and I'm supervising.

We are due to go away for 3 nights this weekend. Playing it by ear but if all remains calm we will go. It's UK and a big group so I can take it easy. And only 25 mins from Bath hospital. Will take our hospital bags with us.

Zaalfruit · 22/05/2023 04:41

@DrinkingAllTheGin hope you are alright. Hopefully all is good by your 3 day get away . Just try and take it as easy as you can ( I know it’s easier said than done ) and rest as much as possible !

@Ally1992 Are you okay? Fingers crossed not in to much discomfort.

Pee count last night was 16 awful sleep . I wonder if I will go into labour soon. Been getting a lot of bum pressure . I know I was only pregnant two years ago but I seem to have a foggy memory for the pre labour signs. The tightening and the rib cage pain is just immense this time round and with a larger bump size just constantly feel in pain 😂

Ally1992 · 22/05/2023 05:32

Hi everyone, so to update he arrived at 15.53pm yesterday weighing 6.8lbs.

We had to wait 36 hours like they said to break my waters and that started at 3.30am yesterday. After that contractions started very quickly and I coped on gas and air, paracetamol and codeine until they put an epidural in about 4 hours later. I told the midwife I was adamant that I would not have the hormone drip inserted unless they gave me an epidural first so after the 4 hours of contractions from breaking the waters they decided it was not progressing quickly enough and wanted me on the hormone drip so the epidural was placed like I asked. Once that was in it was BLISS I was chatting and laughing again with the midwives, on my phone etc. at one point my blood pressure dropped and I felt like I was going to pass out which they said was a side effect though, I actually thought I was having a hypo with my diabetes.

At about 13.30 they told me I was 10cm dilated, baby was engaged and I started pushing but after an hour babies heart rate slowed down, apparently he did not like the intensity of the contractions and the amount I was pushing. It all got a bit crazy after that, dr’s running in the room and they made the decision to turn off the hormone drip and stop pushing. It ended up with me going in to theatre and baby came out with forceps because he was in a funny position and refused to move down further, I don’t want to scare anyone but it obviously wasn’t a nice experience and I felt like a failure tbh.

Anyway he’s here now and I’m absolutely in love with him, if it wasn’t for the last part the whole experience would of been great but I said if I was to do it again I would 100% go
for a planned c section. Sorry to ramble on!

PurBal · 22/05/2023 06:15

@Ally1992 congratulations on your new arrival. Sounds like it went well overall. I’m sorry it didn’t end up how you wanted with the forceps but please try not to feel like a failure, you’ve grown and birthed your son and you should be proud of yourself! You’re amazing. I hope the first night went well too.

PurBal · 22/05/2023 06:19

@Zaalfruit I agree that all the pre labour signs are a blur. I’ve broken out with spots for the first time all pregnancy and I’m getting excited by loose stool. Head not engaged but this is normal in second pregnancies right? I feel like he’s popping in and out… sometimes really low and sometimes not. Also not sleeping as well and peeing a lot! I definitely lost my mucus plug last time so I think I’m waiting for that. I started colostrum harvesting yesterday (37w today), I didn’t with DC1 but hoping it helps. Also got the raspberry leaf tea and clary sage out, I know they’re anecdotal labour inducers but I want to feel like I’m “doing” something.

C1umsyGiraffe · 22/05/2023 06:42

@Ally1992 you are not a failure! Congratulations on growing and birthing your beautiful baby boy!! I'm sorry it didn't go as you'd hoped and I hope the first night went okay! Thank you for sharing your experience 🥰

Happinessandrainbows · 22/05/2023 07:04

Hi.
If you have a breach baby, when is your your c section scheduled for? Last scan couple weeks ago the baby was head down but I'm feeling kicks on my low left side now (35 weeks) and thinking that the baby might be transverse or maybe legs down. Worried ☹️

MrsFloraPoste · 22/05/2023 07:33

@Ally1992 Massive congratulations!
of course you’re not a failure, you have no control over how your baby makes it out into the world, and medical intervention is often necessary. That’s why we have hospital births.
I hope you’re bonding well and enjoying all the skin on skin and gazing at your gorgeous miracle.
happy birthday baby!

Dewintergarden · 22/05/2023 08:08

Congratulations @Ally1992

Whentwobecomesthree · 22/05/2023 08:16

@Ally1992 Massive congratulations. You are not a failure at all. You have probably just birthed a baby in one of the hardest possible ways. You definitely haven't failed but I understand exactly how you feel. My experience in my first labour was virtually identical to what you have described, hence why I am having a planned c section this time.

In a few months, I strongly suggest asking the hospital for a birth debrief. They go through your notes with you and what happened and why and you get the opportunity to express how you feel about it. Wishing you all the best.

dresslol · 22/05/2023 08:39

Congratulations @Ally1992 I hope you are baby are now feeling ok. Wising you all the best for the new born stage, I can barely remember what it’s like!

@Happinessandrainbows my baby was breech last week at 37 weeks, I did some spinning baby exercises over the weekend and was booked in for an ECV last Tuesday, they scanned me to assess baby’s position before starting and she was head down. Don’t panic yet, plenty of time for a baby to move. best of luck x

Zaalfruit · 22/05/2023 08:44

@Ally1992 congratulations ! You did it. I know you aren’t happy about the last part of your labour :( and how disappointing it is if it doesn’t go the way planned . However enjoy your baby boy and congratulations again. It’s so surreal after you give birth to your baby , everything feels different. Will you be going home soon or will they be keeping you and baby for observations.

@Ally1992 This morning I got really stressed out - o2 have disconnected my line randomly and when I went to the toilet I could see that I have lost some of my mucus plug. I will be keeping an eye on it 🫡 I have really fast labour so I can go from zero to 10 in the space of 10 hours . I am not ready yet - I wanted to do a deep wipe and clean of the whole house , change sheets and catch up on wash loads.

Funfamilytimes · 22/05/2023 09:23

@Ally1992 congratulations!! Definitely don’t feel like a failure. This has been going on days and days and you did it. No matter the way it happened. You have managed it! With the baby being in a difficult position… it’s nothing that you did is it or Could change! You persevered 💪🏼

Happinessandrainbows · 22/05/2023 09:32

@dresslol thanks you so much ❤️
And congratulations to everyone who already had their bundles of joy ❤️

PurBal · 22/05/2023 09:37

@Zaalfruit too many jobs and too little time. Good luck!

Belami · 22/05/2023 10:46

@Zaalfruit oooo that's exciting! Is the mucas plug big? How're you feeling?

@Ally1992 awww congratulations!!! Hope you and baby are feeling okay ❤️Please don't feel like a failure , sounds like you absolutely smashed it in such a difficult situation. You should feel very proud of yourself. Us women are super heroes xxx

Zaalfruit · 22/05/2023 10:49

@PurBal omg was meant to tag you !! Loosing it . I am in an incredibly bad mood my toddler is driving me bat sh1t .

@Happinessandrainbows ooh wish I had words of advice for you . How far are you - in my last pregnancy I had an ECV booked at 37 weeks . This pregnancy the same but bouncing made the baby move - and engage in the right direction , I believe you still have time . Stay positive.

Just wanted to say to all - pregnancy is the most humbling and anxiety prone 9 months .

Hlc86 · 22/05/2023 11:18

@Ally1992 huge congratulations on the birth of your little boy, I bed he is absolutely gorgeous, don't feel like a failure you have done amazing well. My first ended similar to yours, I had to have a forceps delivery cause she was in distress, it wasn't the best experience but you do heal very quickly and definitely all worth it in the end x

PurBal · 22/05/2023 11:40

@Zaalfruit no worries! Fortunately my toddler is at nursery this morning. You’ve inspired me, I’ve vacuumed in places that haven’t seen the light of day in ages (eg under bedside tables) this morning. The moses basket is also up and on it’s stand next to our bed rather than flattened in the spare room (we didn’t get a next to me with our toddler.

Belami · 22/05/2023 11:55

Also was meant to ask is anyone else around the 37 week markish and bump hadn't dropped yet? Mine is really high still. FTM though if that makes a difference?
