Thanks for the tag @Daisy155 i hope everyone’s scans are going well.

I had a call from the midwife as one of the twins has come back high risk for downs (1 in 100) I’ve been offered the NIPT, so I’m having that on Monday. Feeling quite nervous about it.

We have told our children as they were getting worried about me being sick, and now I feel like I’ve jinxed it for them.

Lhdale · 01/03/2023 20:39

Thanks for the tag @Daisy155 !

@ThirtyEight38 I would totally feel the same in your shoes and crossing my
fingers everything is okay for you. I’ve heard of quite a few people that came
back high risk and it turned out to be nothing. how old are you as I was reading that if you’re older the chances of getting a false positive are pretty high (over 50%) Hoping the NIPT gives you some reassurance

@@daisy0909 you asked on the old thread what the harmony test is, it’s the same thing as the NIPT. It’s a blood test for the trisomy disorders but is a lot more accurate (fewer false positives and fewer false negatives) that the NHS screening. You can either pay for it or I think most hospitals will now offer it as a next step if the screening comes back as high risk. It’s v expensive if it’s not done by the nhs but I felt like given the false negative rate for the nhs screening i wanted to take the more accurate test (plus finding out the gender is a bonus!)

FarmBaby3 · 01/03/2023 21:58

@ThirtyEight38 I hope the nipt test is more reassuring. How did your kids react the the news?

Maraudingmarauders · 01/03/2023 22:18

Thanks for the tag @Daisy155
@ThirtyEight38 oh how stressful for you. I hope the further tests can settle your minds. At least Monday isn't too far away (though I bet it feels it!)

My nausea seems to have gone right back up again despite seeming to have settled down. The last two days have been dreadful. I've been sat in my office with my head in my hands most of the day, definitely not working at 100%
Someone recommended barley water squash to me so I bought some lemon and barley juice this afternoon and I'll be honest I feel much better this afternoon. Tmi but horrifically gassy but I think it's helping it move through and stopping the discomfort of trapped wind.

Daisy155 · 01/03/2023 23:08

@ThirtyEight38 I have my fingers crossed for you I hope that after the test it’s all very clear for you! You haven’t jinxed anything at all good luck for Monday

@Maraudingmarauders I have been suffering the past few weeks literally I can’t do anything at all, the nausea kicks in at random times as well. Thankfully I am still on maternity leave but it ends so soon and have to return to work but with the way I am feeling I am thinking to go back part time.

I also have no energy and limes/lemon water is helping me and also I had fizzy water and it was really good but I can’t keep drinking.

I can’t wait for my energy to come back. Hope you feel better soon

ShellNor · 02/03/2023 10:57

@Maraudingmarauders I have the same. It settled down for a week but this week its back with a vengance. I cant keep anything other then bread down and freeze pops down!

Daisy0909 · 02/03/2023 11:20

How many weeks are you @Maraudingmarauders @ShellNor ?

Hope that you both start to feel better soon!

I'm 10+5 today and I keep having the odd good day but then it comes back in full force again. I have a feeling there's a few weeks left of this for me!

Maraudingmarauders · 02/03/2023 11:52

12+1 today @Daisy0909 fingers crossed yours stays settled!
@ShellNor sorry to hear that 😞 I can keep stuff down thankfully, just feel like I'm in the back of a car/on a boat constantly. Eating is the only thing that stops it momentarily. I hope yours is short lived again.
Everything I read said it should improve after 12 weeks. Now I'm at 12 weeks everything I read says 14-16 weeks. Wish they'd stop moving the goal posts 🤣

Tinkerbell098 · 02/03/2023 11:58

@Daisy155 thanks for the tag.

@ThirtyEight38 sorry about your result, but as others have said, it's not a diagnostic test and the accuracy can vary. Hope the NIPT gives you some reassurance. Everything crossed for you X

ShellNor · 02/03/2023 12:25

@Daisy0909 Im 13+6 at the moment. It eased up around a week ago (12+6) but now its back to worse then before. I am definatley over the constant nausea thats for sure!

@Maraudingmarauders Im hanging out for 14-16 weeks but my sisters 2 pregnancies she was nauseaus until 22 weeks. I am hoping I dont take after her at all!

@ThirtyEight38 I hope your next test goes well. I am still waiting for any word of results from my scan, which was last friday. I couldnt make an earlier appointment for the 12 week scan so it ended up being 13 weeks.

How is everyone going with their scans?
I've found they are quite fun getting to see bub growing, I would love to have another before 12 weeks but I have no idea when I could possibly fit another scan in before the 20 week scan. My combined work and study schedule over the next month and a bit is a little chaotic!

Has anyone got any names to call bub until they are born? We're thinking we wont find out the gender, so im on the fence with what to call them until they arrive. Any thoughts?

Daisy0909 · 02/03/2023 13:12

@Maraudingmarauders @ShellNor Hoping it passes for you ASAP then!!

My NHS scan is tomorrow, and we haven't had any scans up until now so I'm really excited, not sure I will sleep tonight!! I won't be able to have the tests done but hopefully they'll just book me in for when I'm able to have them

Lhdale · 02/03/2023 14:05

@Daisy0909 good luck !

im finding it such a strange point right now at 12+2 (or 12+5 as they said at scan). No bump (although a lot of bloat) and symptoms are lesser (though still there), I teach at a school and neither students nor teachers will have any idea I’m pregnant! I want a proper bump! My cousin is 19 weeks and said hers became properly visible at 16. So far away!

Lhdale · 02/03/2023 14:07

Although I say symptoms have eased… I’ve just drawn the curtains on my office door and switched off the lights to have a little ten min nap….

Mumblebumble1 · 02/03/2023 15:53

Hi everyone!!

I was a big lurker in the last thread 😂
I'm 11 weeks today and have my scan next Saturday.

A bit like you all I'm feeling so much work lately! Nausea, tiredness, sore hips! I'm SO ready for that apparently second trimester glow!!!

God, spelling mistakes already! Worse not work!!!

Maraudingmarauders · 02/03/2023 18:22

@Daisy0909 good luck for your scan! I've got my 2nd 12 week scan tomorrow haha, after my first one ended up being 11weeks and too early for tests. Happy to see baby again as I can briefly stop worrying. Not sure what I'll do after this one!
I had to take some visitors on a tour today up 5 flights of stairs. Normally not an issue but I was so winded I couldn't catch my breath this time! I couldn't explain (only my boss at work knows) so I had to feign a lingering coughing fit to get my breath back whilst my colleague took over! I've got a holiday 27th March for a week, so just counting down the days (I realise I've not long been on kne, trying to fit them in before baby ruins everything 😆)

@ShellNor my DH calls it Bean. I use it now and then, and sometimes Uccellino which means baby bird/fledgling.

Daisy0909 · 02/03/2023 19:28

@Maraudingmarauders thank you! I've been keeping myself distracted after work & we've been deep cleaning the house before my parents come to stay at the weekend. Nothing like having visitors to make you get your bum into gear! 😂 we're also going to tell them pending everything is ok at the scan tomorrow, can't believe I've managed to keep it from my mum all this time!

Ooh where is your holiday? Nothing wrong with getting them squeezed in at all.. makes total sense!

Maraudingmarauders · 02/03/2023 22:35

Haha @Daisy0909 we always say we have to have a regular schedule of visitors to keep our house in reasonable state!.
I hope telling your parents goes well and you can celebrate together!
We are off to Spain: Dh, me and my parents.
We always try to go away together each year, but normal at the end of the summer so lucky this year we had booked an early break!

Daisy0909 · 03/03/2023 09:44

Scan went really well! Healthy heartbeat flickering away & baby growing nicely but I've been pushed back 2 days so I'm now 10+4!
Got to go back in 3 weeks time for the tests & another scan which I'm not complaining about!

@Maraudingmarauders thank you I'm so excited to tell them now!

Ooh Spain is lovely, are you going for a more relaxing holiday or sightseeing? X

Maraudingmarauders · 03/03/2023 09:58

-@Daisy0909 congratulations! What a lovely clear picture! Have a wonderful weekend with your family.

Mostly relaxing I think, though we will wabder around some local towns. We aren't poolside people really, and a bit too early in the year anyway so lots of cafe breaks and people watching!

Daisy155 · 03/03/2023 12:25

@Maraudingmarauders enjoy Spain that’s lovely!

@Daisy0909 the baby is so so cute that’s amazing congratulations glad baby’s heartbeat and growth is going well for you 🥰💕

Maraudingmarauders · 03/03/2023 18:14

Sorry for anyone who has seen already on the fb group and I'm just duplicating.
Had scan today which went well. Officially dated as 12+5 (would have been 12+2 based on last scan) and waiting on screening results but sonographer said from his side he had no concerns.
Due date 10th September.
I mistimed my water drinking and had to go for a half wee before my appointment as I literally couldn't hold it any longer. But didn't seem to be a problem in the scan (I was worried in case id emptied too much). Just hoping I don't get an Uti from half emptying my bladder!
Next appointments are:
•16week midwife - 23rd March
• 20week scan - 24th April
• gestational diabetes test - 12th June
